With almost 30 years in the business under his belt, George of the Grill knows how to serve up some pretty top notch fish and chips. No wonder the store made top 5 in the Courier Mail's Best Fish and Chips in Brisbane list for 2019.
We dined at George's invitation and had:
* Barramundi (crumbed), $9.50
* Coral trout (battered), $11.90
* Sea scallops, 6 for $13.50
* Prawn skewer, 2 for $10.00
* Steak fries (small), $4.00
* Onion rings, 8 for $5.50
In a word: pretty awesome! (Ok I know that was two words...) Pros:
* good range of fish to choose from (not just your standard cod/flake), plus there's also a large variety of fresh seafood available in the cabinets
* plenty of hot sides as well, such as the the scallops and prawn skewers we had - both nicely grilled
* very crispy and crunchy crumb (on our barramundi)
* good crunch on the batter too (on the coral trout)
* nice bit of crunch on the chips also (are you noticing a theme here? 😄), which were well seasoned and quite a generous serve for 'small'
* the onion rings were some of be best I've had - crunchy on the outside, moist/juicy on the inside.
Cons:
* Only one for me is that the location is a bit far from my usual hunting grounds. I don't think I've ever been to Cornubia before and it sounded really far when George first got in touch a few months ago, though to be fair it's only about a 5 minute drive from the Logan Hyperdome, which I do get out to every now and then. Maybe I'll make it a family school holiday tradition to visit 😊

P.S. Totally forgot to order any salad but seeing the quantity of food that came out I'm not sure we would've had room, so will have to try them out next time. Thanks for the hospitality George, you've pointed me to a good keeper 👌
Wow wow wow. George’s seafood was awesome. I ordered a salmon dinner and 2 cod dinners. Awesome steak style chips with chicken salt, crispy cod, the wife loved the grilled salmon , and the Caesar salad was The BEST. You have won me Georges , love it!
I come here regularly and the always have great food for very reasonable prices and excellent service every time I visit. It is a defiantly a place to visit for lunch or dinner!
I have been eating at Georges for over 20 years. Love the new shop, love the menu... food and the service... the chips are so awesome and George will always make the best burger.!!! HANDS DOWN you will not find a better grill and seafood takeaway in this area !!!!
I came to Georges Grill & Seafood with my partner and shared the prawn cutlets and slat and pepper squid. My partner also got the chicken burger with chips. The food was fresh and delicious and staff were great a recommending foods from the menu. Georges is a great place to come from lunch and dinner. I'll certainly be back to try more.
Awesome absolutely awesome. My family and I had fish and chips for dinnet and geez its got to be the best I've had for very long time. So refreshing to be served by a happy cheery owner.
I will be back and would highly recommend the food and the service and the great family prices.

What can i say... George's Fish and Chip shop is easily one of the, if not the best fish and chip shop/takeaway around Logan. Having eaten there several times now, to check for consistency, i can honestly say that the food has always been very enjoyable, offering a large variety more than able to please any fussy customer, their customer service has always been helpful and polite when serving and that the serving size has always been above average, especially considering the prices.
The shop offers many specials, some changing weekly, as well as a whole variety of packs, in addition to their original menu. A highlight for me would definitely be their burgers; even a simple Hamburger, at the low cost of only $6 would quite contently fill somebody for lunch, and they would actually ENJOY the burger, which is quite rare and unheard of around Logan.
Definitely recommend coming to try George's Fish and Chip Shop for yourself, if you haven't already, because if the business has been their 23 years, they're obviously doing something right.

To Stephanie. Hi Stephanie, i'm sorry to hear your experience here at Georges wasn't up to scratch. Please feel free to call or drop in and we will orgainse a refund for your 2 burgers or gladly make them again. The 2 boys you mention have only recently started with us and were still new in that area.
As a business established in the local community for over 21 years and having gotten to know a lot of families in the area during that time and employed quite a few young people in that time we treat our team more as family rather than staff and what you may have percieved as belittling or antagonizing was more than likely a bit of ribbing and banter between us. As i have said we have been here for over 21 years and that is not because i/we are rude or better than anyone else, but because we provide a decent feed at a fair price and yes on occasions we do stuff things up.
Having said that,you were not satisfied with your meal and i am sorry for that. If there is anything i can do to rectify this please let me know.

I'd give 6 stars out of 5 if I could. I was greeted by charismatic, larger than life owner, George, who took an interest in us, asking where we were from and so on, and even took a minute to sit down and chat, despite clearly being very busy. The oysters were ENORMOUS, the natural were as fresh as the ocean in summer, the Kilpatrick was perfect, the fish was all just crunchy and fresh and perfect, and Claire was accommodating and super friendly. Best casual dining lunch experience I've had for a very long time. Reminded me of Corfu in the 80s! Yum. Just.... yum.
Shout out to the wonderful crew working today at Georges. I normally get one of the fish dinners with Uber but came in today and had some awesome Sydney oysters and the prawns were great. Thank-you to the staff who took care of me today after I left some items in the store. We love the food here and will be back for sure. Thank-you!
The guys were awesome today. Came in with a group of 11 people at 1pm and they were able to fit us in on the table inside. Great meal, good prices and amazing staff, thanks again. Will be back again soon
Very impressed with the quality of seafood and meals! They where getting slammed on the sat night I went and still managed to send out good food consistently and quickly! There are lots on options with seafood dinners, family value packs, kids meals and burgers plus lots of sides. We ordered about six different things at our table and everything was cooked to perfection and very tasty. Ingredients are fresh and seafood is very good quality and great value. You can order online, in store or through uber eats. Not alot of places to sit so I recommend takeaway.

Good food and very generous with portion sizes and sauces. Food a bit pricey but still was nice. Beware of the birds that fly around if you are eating outside otherwise good experiance
Really good fish and chips. Crumbed snapper, scallops and village fries were divine. Only let down was grilled salmon which was over cooked. Will visit again for sure
