We were passing through Lorne and thought we would check this place out, purely based on the reviews that we’d read. So glad we did, this was an absolute treat. My partner had the chorizo baguette and stopped speaking words, just lots of satisfied moans. I had the mushrooms, wow, all of the flavours on the plate were super balanced and just a taste sensation. Beautiful spot watching the waves and lovely friendly service. Great job guys, you’re doing it right 👌

The cafe is situated in a really lovely location with lots of green space and beach nearby.  I was impressed that there were some really good vegetarian options and that my "poke bowl" was vegan.  It is a great place to come to get away from the main street and beach area of Lorne

Came past this cafe many times and always thought it looked lovely, but touristy, so never went. Until multiple friends have recommended it to us. Went in for brunch. Such beautiful setting. Menu with lots of variation. Meat not free range unfortunately. My boyfriend and I shared cheesy toast with plum chutney and peanut butter and banana toast (sounds simple, but check the photo as it loomed amazing!). Both were lovely. Strong latte was good, piccolo was too bitter. All and all a beautiful spot to wind down and have some lovely food.

Loved - loved - loved - our brekkie at the Swing Bridge cafe. Everything we had was soooo good - we had the smoked salmon dish that was just delish, as was the ‘usual suspects’ which had perfectly poached eggs. This little cafe is tucked between the beach and the road - and as the name suggests, accessed by a little bridge. It was just perfect - lots of space for kids and dogs to run around, muck around playing with sand, all while enjoying fantastic food and a lovely view.

I absolutely love coming to the swing bridge. The staff are friendly and the coffee is excellent. I'd recommend the chicken roll or the bacon and egg roll.

Wow this is my favourite place in Lorne to eat so far. It's in a beautiful location near the beach and the bridge it's named after. I came here today for lunch. I ordered an Argentinian beef brisket roll and a ginger and lemongrass tea. The roll was delicious but my only complaint was that the brisket was a tad dry but when mixed with the coleslaw and the mayo it was still pleasant to eat. It says it has horseradish mayo but it wasn't hot. The staff here were very friendly and the service is DIY where you need to get your own water and knives and forks. and you need to order at the counter and pay. At $16 for a burger it's a pricy but it's what you expect in a tourist town like Lorne. I would come back here with friends or family.

BEST BREAKFAST IN LORNE.
My partner and I have been to Lorne 3 times now and this is the first time we have been to the Swing Bridge Cafe. I am annoyed we didn't come here sooner but am sooo happy that we did. Delicious food! Best breakfast and coffee we have had in Lorne hands down. Friendly/quick service. Suitable for families with prams as well. Highly recommend! But get there early during summer as it will fill up quickly!

There’s lots of great food to be found along Victoria’s Great Ocean Road and on our recent visit to Lorne we enjoyed many noteworthy meals. I passed some cafe and restaurant recommendations on to a food blogging friend that visited last week, and she ‘LOVED’ my tips (her word not mine).

Fantastic location tucked away near the swing bridge
Get in quick because it is always busy and for a good reason
Food is easily the best breakfast in Lorne
Coffee is on point - up to Melbourne city standards
Prices are reasonable
Been back 3 times and ordered the wakie wakie roll everytime - delish!!! But the avo looks awesome and mushrooms are to die for-
What more could you want !
Kicking goals :)

This cafe is a beauty. This was my fourth visit here. They’ve all been good and the cafe noticeably just keeps getting better and better. There are some genuinely innovative dishes on the menu here. And, those dishes are executed very very very well. Add very good coffee, the physical loveliness of the venue and terrific service and you’ve got a mighty cafe, one that’s as good as any highly regarded city establishment.

Last year

Very impressively run small cafe in an idyllic spot. I had the Field of dreams dish today. This has beautifully cooked mushrooms, onion and an egg on fried bread. This is a very pretty and well composed dish. Lovely flavours. Mushrooms cooked perfectly. My long black was super as well.

One day earlier

Just a coffee today with a local. Lovely sunny day. Sitting in the light breeze beside the estuary with the beach in view was blissful. The coffee was beautiful, the service divine from multiple servers. The meals coming out looked fantastic. The local says the owner is Argentinian and runs the place superbly. Everything here is well done. Punches well above its weight.

Cute little cafe located, um, right beside a swing bridge. Gets very busy during the season. If you miss a table you can lounge on the grass. Coffee was very nice here. The barristas know their stuff. Service was terrific. Recommended.

Great cafe on the beach with fast service and tasty food. Very pretty. They do paella in the evenings. Nice views. I took the kids and everyone was friendly and helpful. The kids had chocolate and ice cream shakes which were perfect! There's a good selection of breakfast-type food, interesting brioches and nice salads. The coffee was also fine.

The staff are relaxed as you would expect from the seaside location, the food is really good. We had the dazza which is a spin on smashed avo on toast with Apple, walnuts chilli and goats cheese. Food is fresh and the staff are friendly. The beach views certainly add to the experience. Wonderful little place!!

What a little gem this place is. Was travelling for work and made this place my regular morning brunch spot. It is clear the chef, staff and owners here are passionate about what they do. An interesting and varied menu, great coffee and friendly attentive staff. Let's not forget the serene location overlooking the river and beach - Lornes best kept secret!

Gorgeous cafe in Lorne right near the beach and river.

The atmosphere here is relaxed with ample, colourful outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying the sunshine.

We had the salmon, celeriac remoulade and beetroot on seed & sprout bread. It was fresh, healthy and delicious.

The food and location of this cafe are outstanding.

Came here twice whilst staying in Lorne for essentially one reason: Lorne is quite limited with unique/original breakfast dishes apart from your stock standard big breaky and muesli. Everywhere you go you basically get a variation of eggs on toast with limitations on variety. This place has two unique menu options: 'Feeling Seedy' and 'South of the Border'. Feeling Seedy is a nice veg option consisting of fried eggs on sourdough toast, goats cheese/rocket/goji berries/seed salad, with the best salsa guacamole I've ever had. Oh and a couple of mushrooms (never cared for them). South of the Border is a tortilla and chorizo dish with some beans and guac in the mix. Coffee is quite decent.

Nice little location right on the beach - make sure you bring your canine friend.

Keep in mind this place does not have EFTPOS facilities. At all.

Picturesque little cafe across the swing bridge. My husband and I had a delicious breakfast here. I had the breakfast with all of the seeds and goji berries and rocquette: an unusual choice for me but it was sooooo delicious. Hubby had the special with blood orange hollandaise. Also delicious. Paired with the best ever chai latte and a decent latte. Only reason not 5 stars is that the tables are quite small, there isn't much covered or heated areas, and they don't take cards. Delightful place for breakfast though. It also does a roaring trade with locals walking their dogs.

A lovely little cafe at the end of the swing bridge. We ordered the soup of the day (celeraic) and a burger. Both were delicious and we loved the atmosphere and friendly service. Be warned, there are no Eftpos facilities so bring cash!

Friendly staff and yummy food. This place is far from where the map shows it is, owing to its almost by the beach location. Bumped into this place early in the morning when we went to see the sunrise. I had smashed avocado with fetta cheese and toasted bread that was very good. My partner had an apple and rhubarb pancake which I enjoyed even more, although she thought it was a little sour, but that's rhubarb.

The staff were very friendly, and afterwards we had a pleasant 20min ride on the paddle boats for $15.

Lovely location in the route of the Great Ocean Drive and worth to stop by. This location (depending on your time) is famous for instagram lovers as it gives you the opportunity to click awesome pictures. You have to drive through a campervan site. The Cafe is also the location from where you can access the beach.

Perfect place to start a beautiful day. Lovely people and my mocha is as sweet as they are ♥️ I would suggest them to start a bit early in summers, maybe 6:30am. Just a suggestion, you know your game so don't worry about it.

I walked past this place in the late afternoon and it was pumping (in Summer). I had to try it and went there for breakfast a few days later. Got there, loved it and has great vibes. So many dogs around and awesome coffee. The menu offers enough for a vegetarian to be happy and all the breaky classics at a very high quality. Hope you guys have a great Summer X
