3.5. We ordered the blue cheese burger and what everybody gets chicken schnitzel burger which were both very good. Bun was large, lettuce was fresh, patty was tasty. The chips were excellent. Nice atmosphere. Recommended.
GREAT BEER AND SERVICE! Coming from the city, we've had all kinds of burgers, so its pretty hard to find anything new. However service wise, the sky's the limit. Most businesses aren't creative that way, hoping to get more business by adding more expensive cheese or buns to their meals, when in actual fact they're missing the point. Thats what Bottle of Milk did well during my last visit. It was a busy weekend, and our order was a tad late. Turns out the kitchen printer ran out of ink so they didn't get our order. As a customer, I immediately have a bunch of questions floating in my head. How did it run out of ink? Is this the norm? Does that mean every time this happens a hungry customer gets a late order? But then, the waitress immediately said she would refund part of our meal as a token of appreciation for waiting. Immediately those questions went out the window. In fact I ordered another beer with that money. That's the second business that did something similar in Lorne. Loyal customer and a great review for $8.50 refund, that's a smart investment. If only more businesses used their brains that way. Well done Bottle of Milk!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Okay so their beyond vegan burger is AMAZING! So bloody good. Meat eater or not...get it! You won’t regret it. The chips are delicious too. Overall great spot in Lorne but it is very over priced. A beer, chips and a burger cost over $40.
Excellent service and great food quality
When visiting Lorne, it is a great place to stop by and have a delicious burgers I would absolutely recommend going there again.
Great view
Friendly staff
Fresh food which was quick
Customised food to be vegan
Incredible hot chips
The burgers were tasty! Nice buns and nice ingredients. Had the 'B.O.M' burger. I thought I was eating a Bank of Melbourne burger but it was actually the Bottle of Milk burger. It is their version of a burger with the lot. Fries was nice and crunchy, it perfectly matched with the burger.
Delicious and fresh burgers. Don’t feel sluggish and overfull after eating these burgers which is great! I do think smaller serve of chops should
be sold though!
such a cute brunch place in lorne
staff their are soooo nice
the food comes out at a pretty decent time even when we had a table of about 13
prices are reasonable
WOULD LOVE TO COME BACK
Hesitant to eat here given prices for one burger being around $18 and chips $8, but had good reviews so decided to try. Had the spicy lentil burger and partner the pickle beef. Both were incredible, fresh fillings and home made lentil pattie. Very tasty and not generic tasting. Chips also very nice. Would recommend, despite being on the expensive side.
I love this place. Cosy, no frills, tables and booths and order at the counter. The burgers were amazing and the chips were mind blowing! Got the fire engine and yum yum yum. Be sure to stop by here if you're in the area. Highly recommended.
Such a cute cafe. Wonderful food, chill atmosphere and great location. Recommend trying the breakfast burgers. Will definitely be heading back next time I’m in Lorne!
Wonderful food and great drink selection. My burger had a lot of flavours going on which did somewhat detracted from the experience. Chips were well cooked and really tasty too!

Good burgers, it is thick, yummy and freshly cooked. It is located just on the side road so it is very easy to be found. There is parking spot as well across.
One of the best burger places and they've maintained the quality since I visited two years ago! So many different flavour combinations available and all packed with flavour. I love that they have many vegetarian options. Id describe their type of burgers as being packed with flavour with high quality produce. This level of freshness is so difficult to find. Burgers are really filling without being greasy or weighing you down.
We got the bingo bango burger which had really fresh chicken and a good mix of spicy and tangy flavours. Loved it. The magic mushroom burger was also great. Mushroom was generous and juicy. Will be back for more!
Best breaky ever. If you are a mushy lover, then you must try theirs. Yes, everything is expensive in Lorne, but this place is well worth what you pay for. 5 star all round.
stopped by the bottle of milk for a break from a long drive. such a cute place! not a burger person but decided to try anyway. so worth it. impressive burgers. coffee was good and people there are so warm and friendly.
Have been coming here for years and it never fails to tick all of our boxes. Great fresh burgers and the best chips in Victoria. Love the drinks menu too. Will go back and try their brekky menu too.
Awesome meal at the beach. Juicy burgers, generous portion, chips were delightful with the spicy mayo. However service at the counter could be improved, the waiter was not particularly impressed as we asked to look at the menu again as we have forgotten the names of the burgers to order. Instead of handing us a menu (out of stack of menus in his hands) he told us to go over to the side and grab a menu from the menu stand and come back when we are ready.
When you've had more than a fistful of burgers, you know when you've landed on something special.
Ordered:
🍔 Bacon & Cheese Burger: Prime beef, tasty cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, house mayo & homemade tomato relish ($15.50)
🍟 + Hot chips ($8.00)
🥫 + Chili mayo ($1.50)
Review:
The bacon and cheese burger - a classic hearty choice that can do no wrong.
A toasty seeded bun (I love the attention to detail), enveloping a fresh crunchy cut of lettuce, delicious prime beef, fatty flavourful bacon, tasty cheese, the sweet cut of homemade tomato relish and the minced cut of onion was just the perfect combination in my mouth.
It makes me excited to think about all the flavours I've yet to try...
Chips were insanely tasty and fried to perfection. Chili mayo also had the perfect amount of spice, without being too overwhelming.
My one complaint would probably be the one size for the chips. For the quantity given, there's more than enough to go around. Please share with your mates so you don't overwhelm and lessen the experience from the burger!
However @thebottleofmilk, please give some thought to those of us who are by ourselves! A smaller size or simply making it a 'combination' to add on to our burgers would be awesome.
I’ve had a lot of burgers in my time and feel confident in putting theirs in the ‘edible’ category. I doubt this place would make anyone’s top ten list, but based on our other options for dining in Lorne I am confident we made a great choice. Ingredients tasted fresh and the staff were friendly. Bathrooms were a little unclean though.
So far the coffees are a stunner! Enjoyed ourselves with a hot chocolate and a latte. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Coming back next time to try the burgers. Such a value for Lorne.
Based on reviews already posted we thought to try the coffee and weren’t disappointed. The cafe has made great use of the 50’s building and was doing brisk trade on a quiet Saturday morning. The Beatles music playing fitted the vibe well. We’ll be back tomorrow before going home.
During trip on the Great Ocean Road, I took away the milkshake of the ‘Homemade Berry’ flavor. Must say the quantity was enough to sip throughout the drive and also it was full of natural berries mixed well with the creamy milk. Yumm!
This place is really a MUST visit restaurant when ever you going to GOR. I ordered “the mad cow” burger and it was superb yummy. The meat was so tender, juicy and the bbq sauce just hit my tongue continuously .. the best part is that burger is definitely worth of value only $15 for that big size burger. Can’t wait to come back🤤
Located in the centre of beautiful Lorne. I would give a 5 if this spot were not a self service one. It was quite busy at that time but the food came out real quick 👍
Local style eatery in the middle of Lorne. It has a friendly and fresh feel, with indoor and outdoor seating.
I wasn’t really craving a burger, but I’m so happy we stopped at The Bottle of Milk. Staff were very friendly and accommodating to our requests. The meat in the burger was cooked right and the flavour was very satisfying. The other ingredients in the burger were plentiful and tasted great. Overall, the quality of the food and sauces were spot on.
I definitely recommend this place and would stop here again.
There is no doubt that "the bottle of milk" is the place to to stop and eat while on Great Ocean Road. It's famous for its burgers but I also tried smashed Avocado and poached eggs and it was yumm. Everything is just so fresh that you will great after eating the food. Located in a busy Lorne beach road with some great locals and travelers stopping by.
I’ve been here a few times now and every time the burgers taste amazing! The burgers are made out of quality ingredients and always tastes fresh. The chips are always really hot and crispy. Everything on the menu is more on the pricey side but worth it.
Great burgers at the heart of Lorne! Ordered the classic cheese burger and it was delicious! By far one of the best burger and chips I’ve had (the chilli mayo also makes it the best combo!!) The staff were also very friendly and would recommend to anyone passing by Lorne. The only downside were the seagulls!
Great spot loved it - one of the best burgers I have had - great selection and beer on tap... try the salt pale ale... I had the what everyone has burger !!!

Bottle of Milk is a trendy little burger joint on main drag in Lorne as you pass through on The Great Ocean Road. We were promptly greeted when we came in and browsed their tempting burger menu. Since it was early, we stuck with one of their breakfast burgers, The Cold Shower. This beauty had bacon, fried egg, avocado, housemade mayo & tomato relish, and my personal favorite and game-changing addition, hashbrown. Every bite was so so flavorful with so many textures going on, especially with the help of that crispy hashbrown. It was absolutely delicious and I would love to come back and try one of their beef hamburgers!
#happy lady behind counter was more than glad to customise the coffee order. Coffees were quick and perfect. Name of the place is catchy and #creative. Three #cheers to cosy place at #heavenly #Lorne.
Had a latte and the smashed avocado. The latte was average nothing special. The smashed avo was very expensive if you get an egg with it ($22), however, the portions are big but I almost felt like there was too much on the plate (like the water plants).
Actually we were coming for having their burger as we heard they have a good burger but unfortunately burger wasn't serve until 11 o'clock so we had something else. We had Big Breakfast and Smoke Salmon bagel. Both meals were fantastic. It was really nice to have a dine here, cozy place, nice table and chair. Wish to comeback here again whenever we visit victoria
Good food, great local service with local town milk bar service attitude. Price is reasonable. Beef in the burgers tasty and quality. Highly recommend and will come back.
Great burgers (had the B.O.M, the Hell Yeah & the Lentil Lentil with GF bun), beer batter chips and fantastic coffee. Friendly, prompt service. Nice vibe. This one's a keeper.
Good customer service. Big portion of burger and chips. Nice food, worth the visit. Spacious environment. The only flaw is to pay for the sauce.
Friendly staff and super busy cafe. We had big breakfast and BLAT burger. The burger was nice but it hasn't got any side(salad of chips). The big breakfast look nice and fresh.
very impressive restaurant in Lorne! went there at around 10am on a monday and it was 60% full. We got a seat outdoor and it was really nice and clean. I ordered a flat white and corn fritters, flat white was amazing and the corn fritters were really good and in generous portion! staff were really friendly also :)
This place makes amazing brekky! I have only had brekky here. Pretty quick service and their coffees are so good. Must go place if you come to Lorne.
Great restaurant in Lorne! Would definitely come back.
We had the breakfast burgers and they were amazing! Staff were very friendly and efficient.
Food: 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5
The burgers were a-maze-ing. The bun to meat ratio was perfect and the burgers were full of flavour. The chips were very well seasoned and the chilli mayonnaise dip was a great addition to the meal.
Service: 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5
You order and pay for your food at the counter. The chips came out first followed by the burgers. But it was worth the wait.
Price: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Price was reasonable for the quality of the food. Would definitely come again.
DELICIOUS burgers! The burgers here were all so good! I got a schnitzel burger which I highly recommend and my sister got a beef burger which I tried and it was also incredible. Service was a little slow- but it was busy.
It is almost worth visiting Lorne just for Bottle of Milk. The standards are set very high. Just a consistently good burger. The reputation is warranted. The Dear Luncher enjoyed a couple of different burgers during the last visit. The excess Spanish onion on this particular burger gave it a real zesty crunch.
Fantastic food and coffee. Had a good experience and feed here. I ordered the Big Brekky with some added extras, so that gave me the chance to really get a good taste of a few things. Everything was good, other than the hash browns which were pretty much just reheated and had abit of an old oily taste to them.
Eggs were cooked well, and the avocado was great, with a hint of lime. None of that fake avocado dip that you get from some other places... the sausages were another pleasant surprise.
Staff were very friendly and polite, but the only thing in question is the accomodation factor and the systems that they have in place to let their patrons really get to treat themselves.. little things like ordering from the front counter, and having to ask for water and then needing to refill it yourself. I don't know about you, but if I'm spending over $30 on breakfast, I just want to relax and really just indulge.
Other than these very minor issues, this place is a winner. Recommend it for someone who is just after good feed and coffee after a big night prior! ("Glug Glug")
Juicy chicken burgers, yummy chocolate milkshake. A great place for lunch with sun & beach ! And don’t miss a bowl of those yummilicious chips (fries).
This was a pleasant surprise. Who knew that I could find a near perfect burger in Lorne, of all places. My blue cheese burger was juicy and had good texture. My dining companion's vegan magic mushroom burger was also scrumptious and she said it was the best vegan burger she's had in Australia. Matched with regional Victoria's warm hospitality and frequent crowd, this is a must stop dining place in Lorne.
Two burgers from this place in 2 days is a pretty good indication of a good burger place. Extensive burger menu with great creativity. I had the Fire Engine Burger both times being so good which had an excellent mix of sweet & spicy. Tap beer on hand makes this place very special, well done.
Had the "Hell Yeah" beef burger and it had the whole deal, was definitely filling and with the chocolate malt on the side, it was a perfect breakfast to get me started for a long day ahead. The cutlery used in this place looks like it straight from the barnyard, that's a nice touch to go with the name of the place. Definitely a good spot to try out for breakfast, give it a go.
Wow!
Came here a few years back, and have been thinking about it ever since! Incredible burger, melt in your mouth sort of thing! Absolute delight! Can't wait to go back!
Blue cheese burger a go! Same with what a pickle!
Visited yesterday (last Sunday of school holidays) on our way back to Melbourne with a group of 7 girls, all very hungover.
We sat outside at the back of the very busy cafe and ordered 5 burgers, 1 veggie breakfast, 1 big breakfast, 2 orders of chips and a couple of milkshakes
Service when ordering was verrrrrry slow and it took a very long time for everything to come out, with me finishing my burger before the last 2 came out, however the staff were very friendly and this place was buzzing at the time.
I had the BLAT which was delish! Generous amount of bacon and crunchy salad made for well-balanced burger, so worth the price!
The other girls loved their food and milkshakes and the friendly waitresses clearing our table all checking to make sure we were happy
Overall loved this place and would definitely return but would love to see a better, more efficient ordering system as it’s such a small menu and a few more chefs in the kitchen given that this place is probably usually full throughout tourist season.
Ps. Apologies for no pic - was way too seedy to think of it/couldn’t hold off after waiting so long to dig in
Seven seeds coffee using good soy. Plenty of seating inside and out. Friendly service. Awesome chips. Yet to try burgers. I will have to come back to try.
A great burger place in Lorne. Lots of options for both meat lovers and vegetarians. The Hawaiian burger was yummy, as was the mushroom burger - we devoured the lot! The chips were what made our meal though - we enjoyed the fat chips that were cooked just right - lots of crunch and with just the right amount of seasoning. Worth a visit if you’re in Lorne - the burgers are comparable to some of the nice burger joints in the city.
A nice and relaxed cafe with indoor and outdoor seating.
The soy chai is the perfect sweetness and texture.
We ordered the hot rod which was creamy with chilli scrambled eggs. The cheese infused with the egg makes it stretchy and soft. The chilli jam is a perfect combination .
The veggie fritters were nicely fried with chilli jam to compliment.
Absolutely fantastic. 4.5 is a thoroughly deserved rating. Had the Cold Shower, delicious. Service was prompt and friendly. Honestly hard to find a fault with experience. My top place for food in Lorne.
Cool place, right across the road from the beach. Seems quite popular, even during the week. friendly vibe, tasty, fresh burgers. Nice spot to drop by for lunch when in Lorne.
Super amazing burger! Nelly burger is yummy! Highly recommended. You should drop by here along the way during your trip to Great Ocean road. The chicken burger (what everyone gets) is delicious too. So if you don't like beef, this is definitely an alternative!
Good chippies, great beer and amazing burger. I had the tofu burger and it did not disappoint. Still sitting here waiting for my food coma to wear off - I couldn't stop eating it once I got full because it was so good.
amazing burgers with GF options!
i visited 'the bottle of milk' recently with my sister and my mum who both have coeliac disease. i ordered the cheeseburger and so did my sister. my mum went with the lentil burger. we were shocked to find out they had GF buns from Otway Artisan. they both enjoyed them so much we ordered them from the local supermarket and took home 6 packs of them! i found the cheeseburger to be the best i had ever eaten! absolutely would eat here again!
Yum. Great food and a very cute diner style set up inside. Burgers are very flavoursome, breakfast is generous but a touch on the pricy side. The same owners have opened pizza pizza as well - they definitely know what they're doing!
We were there for late lunch. i ordered cheese burger, my friend had another burger with bacon (dont remember exactly), and fries for share. we thought of having the shakes but decided not to, afraid that it would be too much for us. turned out it was a good decision, we were already very full with the burgers and fries 😊
now the burgers. As mine was a veggie-less burger, it was not as high as their normal burger with all the veggies. so i can comfortably ate the burger without having to open my mouth crazily haha. as for my friend, his burger was so much higher. for the taste, it was good but not impressive. the fries, however, was superb. in addition of salt, they also added herbs. i totally enjoyed that.
oh, and dont forget the view. it was so calming!
Great spot, friendly staff. Crispy fries delicious with the salt and rosemary and the chilli mayo a perfect dipping option. Beef, bacon and cheese burgers done well. Milk shake standard but what I was after, not overdone. Yum!!
Had a late lunch, bacon and egg roll and coffee.
Great value for money, very slow service and mixed up our order. Delivered chips which we didn't order. Coffee was long gone by the time we waited 25 + minutes for the bacon egg roll which I had to chase up at the service counter.
Coffee was good strength and roll was value for money and generous in size and flavour @ $11. They were extremely busy, but staff where friendly. Will try again.
Great outside seating. Good looking coffee takeaway bar. Cold shower breakfast taste good and put together well. Coffee is on the milky side. Recommend to get a strong or 3/4. Bowl of chips is very very good
Despite the high ratings, which was the main reason why we chose Bottle Milk, this place was quite disappointing. The cute and bright exterior and design of the restaurant made it easy to find, but the service was terrible; the elder man at the cashier was not helpful and was constantly on his phone.
We had the Grandmaster $19 with bacon (+$2.5) which was a double beef patty; juicy and rich in flavour (only wish the bread was crispier outside and softer on the inside) and the Fries $7.50 with Chili mayo and Tomato relish ($1.5 for sauce) - Fries itself was well-salted and went really well w the chili mayo, the homemade tomato relish was excellent too. We also had the Vanilla malt milkshake ($7 each) which was rather disappointing; contrary to how popular it is online. We found the chocolate milkshake better (Salted caramel milkshake was a no-go; too sweet).
Overall, we loved the laid-back ambience, food was okay, but staff wasn't friendly nor helpful.
Popped by this spot for a pit stop before we took on the Great Ocean Road and boy was it just the thing I needed. Hot chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside - just the way I like them. Burger was served really quickly and portions were substantial. Pictured is the tofu burger packed with shredded carrots and a savoury satay sauce smooshed between two delicious sourdough buns. So good.

The cutest place! Food was good and staff very friendly. A must go if you're doing the Great Ocean Road :) I should've tried the milkshakes!
Dropped in for a burger with the wife and 2 kids with one kid never really a fan of a burger. These were probably the best burgers we have had, good old school burgers and so many options there will always be one for everyone. Chips were also a hit! Highly recommend if you traveling though Lorne!
Ordered the Grand Master and a side of chips . I can't fault it . The brioche bun was soft and buttery , double patty cooked to perfection - juicy and slightly charred . Relish and cheese made it a perfect combo . Also orders an iced soy latte and it was strong and as good as the ones in Melbourne . Most importantly, counter service was with a guy and he was really pleasant despite the big crowd and did a wonderful job making us feel welcomed. I'd come back to Lorne just for this experience !
We came here for a late lunch and we ordered 4 burgers and 2 bowls of chips between the 6 of us. The burgers were generous and came out very quickly. We thought we might have ordered too much chips but they were gone in no time. The chips were so crispy and well seasoned that even my parents were still talking about it a few days later about how nice they were!
The hype is real. Great service, super speedy with pleasant staff who are on the ball. Two friends and I ordered a burger each and they all came out really quickly and HOT! I had the shroom burger and it was one of the best I've had. It was a bit sour for me (maybe what it was marinated in?) but apart from that it was thick, juicy and delicious. It was a stinker outside so I didn't have a coffee but noticed they used Seven Seeds, which is great! The inner Melbourne in me got excited, will definitely be back next time I'm in Lorne!
Great location, typical burger menu. Service was quick, burgers delicious & chips incredibly crisp & well seasoned. Menu @ Torquay seemed to have a few more choices, including a brioche bun with caramelized onions. Not a fan of raw red onion used here.
Came here for breakfast and ordered a latte and the cold shower burger. They didn't have flavoured syrups or lactose free milk which was disappointing. We sat down and our meals came out within 5 minutes of being seated and both meals were delicious. Would definitely recommend coming here, especially due to the lack of places to eat in Lorne.
Always amazing. I come here once a year and it never disappoints. Fantastic venue, friendly service and delicious food. Highly recommend!!!!
Nice spot for breakfast.
This place is quite large with lots of seats and is always packed, but you can still find a place to sit as the turnover is so quick.
I had the corn fitters with poached eggs, it was lovely. The fritters could have used a bit more flavour or more relish to make the dish great. The eggs though were cooked to perfection.
My friend had the Avo smash with poached eggs and absolutely loved it.
Bottle of Milk was on our list of must visit on Great Ocean Rd. A well known burger place on the buzzling Lorne seaside strip. Lunch on busy Australia Day and still managed to get a seat at the sheltered courtyard at back. Cute beach shack theme interiors, service is very fast and food is delectable.
We ordered iced lattes, fries to share and I had the Hawaiian burger with pickles added on. Within 5 min of seating our coffees and fries arrived. Oh these fries are finger licking goood! Crunchy and seasoned with salt and rosemary. Lattes were strong just how I like them.
Now the burgers here are quite the stacker! I found it quite difficult to fit in my mouth and take a bite of each element of the burger even after pressing down. Beef patty, melted cheese, bacon, pineapple (what sold me), tomato, lettuce, onions, mayo & chutney with pickles as extra. Buns held well, not too soft or crunchy. A bit of a mess with the pineapple juices dripping from this burger and trying to fiddle your way through eating this monster, but definitely worth each tissue wipe!
Had good time here. Lorne is lovely and was even better having good food there too. Benedict burger is hard to eat keeping nice and clean but taste was great. Goat cheese stuffed mushroom was worth, flavor of mushroom was greatly merging, melting down with goat cheese and others too
When we have day off together. We EAT
오빠 had the grandmaster and I got their fire engine. We also got a side of chips and I tried their vanilla malt shake.
The burgers are HUGE! Patty a bit dry to our surprise.
LOVE their chips and tomato relish YUM! Crispy on the outside, soft and hot on the inside #justthewaywelikeit
And the shake was nice too! Not overly sweet.
#bulgogi_n_rendang
We stopped over during our Great Ocean drive .Though cafe is not available at 6.30 pm. we ordered chips with hot mayo sauce.
It was really yummy 😋 & spicy sauce.
Definitely recommend to anyone.
Stopped by for breaky. Best burgers in Lorne. Both the Cold Shower (pictured) and B&E Roll were terrific. Always make an effort to visit whenever we’re in Lorne.
Great stop, busy, and absolutely delicious burgers, massive burgers.. love that I could park the motorbike right out front too.
Great experience for first time visitors over a super busy Easter. The owner/host was awesome. Found us a table for 8 with limited options due to rain. Burgers were delicious, chips hot and crispy, service was fast and friendly and the coffee was the best. Will definitely be back. Thanks 👍
busy burger shop right on the main street opposite the beach. Plenty of outdoor dining on the footpath, and reasonably quick wait times when i was here on a busy day. Great burger. The chips look fantastic but I didn't try them on this occasion.
The cold shower was epic. Chips and scrambled eggs with mushroom and tomato also amazing
