We have been to lorne a few times from Melbourne and not noticed this place tucked away off the main strip. Looks slightly shabby from outside, but the meals were the BEST authentic Italian we have ever eaten, even having lived in Melbourne for over 10 years. Had the trip of dips to start, homemade and incredibly fresh and tasty with homemade bread. Then prawn linguine for main- WOW, perfect amount of chilli, Parmesan and dill, simply couldn’t fault. Partner had smoked salmon pizza with artichokes, again incredible. Service also amazing. Will definitely be back!!
During our week away in Lorne we ate dinner here twice! It was so good, very generous pasta portions with beautiful authentic flavors. The gnocchi and lasagna were stand out dishes. The pizza was nice but not amazing. We were very happy with our meals and friendly service.
Excellent restaurant, beautiful food we had the spaghetti with prawns and it was to die for, the servings are very generous. I probably deduct 1 star for the service as it could have been better.
The staff were friendly. The woodfried pizza was delicious and perfect. We ordered Margharita and meatball pizza. One of the best pizza iv had this year.
Highly recommended it.
The place itself looked warm adn welcoming.
Surprisingly good food. It was fresh, well balanced and filling. More gluten free options would be great.
Service was good. atmosphere was great with fairy lights outside.
Excellent pizza!!! Great and friendly customer service, good dining settings both indoor and outdoors. Would love to visit again to explore menu further
One of our favourite restaurants on the GOR. The Food is just beautiful and well priced. The meatball pizza is amazing such as the pastas. Highly recommended!
Food did take a little while to arrive despite it being quiet at lunch time. While things tasted fresh and pleasant, it'd say it is rather pricey for your serving size - there was only 6-7 ravioli pieces in my large sized bowl. The pizza had a very thin base, good if you're not keen on too much carbs. There appeared to be one waitress on the ground this Sunday, service was good.
I can’t say I agree with either the extremely negative or extremely positive reviews of this establishment. Overall, I had an enjoyable dining experience that was let down by a few details. Let’s start with the positives:
1. sitting outside is a super pretty especially as it gets darker, it seems a lot more atmospheric than sitting inside.
2. The food was generous portions so I would recommend not getting a starter and leaving room for some gelato. I had the cream based potato gnocchi with mushroom which I would recommend if you like sweet, rich dishes as this was both.
A couple of negatives which let the place down a little.
1. It took about forty minutes for our food to come out which, while not the longest, was slightly concerning because the restaurant was busy but nowhere near full capacity. Not sure how long food would take on a super busy day, but other reviewers seem unhappy with how long their food took.
2. My companion had a char grilled prawns risotto which I sampled. I thought it was tasty but could be “gluggier”- more like risotto as opposed to a different kind of rice dish. Also the prawns did not appear to be grilled as stated on the menu and the flavours of the meal was overpowered by too much fennel. I think it was a little steep and they could’ve been more generous with the ingredients.
3. My final complaint is that when I went to the Ladies room, there was nothing to dry my hands with after washing, which isn’t very pleasant. I ended up having to use toilet paper.
I hope this review comes across as balanced and not too picky, as I would probably return, but there are a few flaws that could easily be fixed (eg. less fennel!)
A great place walking distance to main strip of shops but just far enough so you don't get the loud busy crowds.
Lovely outdoors dining under the vines, perfect for summer nights. Helpful international waiting staff who were very friendly.
Ricotta gnocchi was amazing.
One of best pizza till date!
Found it a bit costly but could not resist ordering one after another because of the actual Italian taste.
Just awesome!
First a big negative! Got take away here on Saturday night and when we arrived to pick it up our order was forgotten! And they advised us to come back in 20 mins!
Now that the negative is out of the way let's get to the positive! The pasta was great, fresh tasting, full of flavour, cooked really well! The gnocchi just melted in the mouth, just like nonna used to make! If it wasn't for the service it would of definitely been a 4 based on food. They did give us a free pasta to compensate but it just didn't help the initial bad experience!
We enjoyed our meal at Saporitalia. We ordered 2 pastas - the prawn linguini and the spaghetti carbonara, and a risotto - the pumpkin risotto. All 3 dishes didn’t disappoint and were really delish! The pumpkin risotto in particular deserves a special mention as it was just - so - tasty! The perfect balance of sweet and savoury and even our fussy eater enjoyed it. We devoured it before we even had a chance to take a photo!
Good Italian food, and service was also good.
But , it’s one of the only places in Lorne that were serving and doing food after 8:30pm, So that’s a big tick and I hope it gets busier because of that.
Contrary to the hours listed, It is actually open nearly all week, and till 11 or 12. So if you’re stuck and not sure where after 8:30, give these guys a go.
Worth a visit. When you want to have authentic pasta, visit this place. Didn't try the pizzas but I'm sure they'll be great. will definitely visit again!
The pasta was great, the kids enjoyed the meatballs and my Carbonara was superb. We were not sure as the reviews were mixed but overall a great little restaurant.
Have been a couple of times before and returned again. I thoroughly enjoyed the Spaghetti Meatballs while my partner devoured his pizza.
Great staff and service as always.
It was delicious.
Ate here the first night as it was near where we were staying in Lorne for a few days.
Excellent ressoto and pizza.
staff was very kind.
So good that we rebooked for another night.
Great place in lorne.
Such an amazing little gem! Came here in June when it was winter and quiet but don't be discouraged, the food and company is absolutely amazing!
Ordered the garlic bread, antipasto, meatball pizza and spaghetti carbonara and was not disappointed! Definitely a recommendation for a nice night out if you're staying in Lorne or passing through for dinner 😍
Stumbled upon this one and took a chance . Read reviews after and agreed with its high ratings. We had the lightest most delicious pizza base ever.
Decor could be updated and was a bit cold inside. But will go back for sure. We
For entrees, we ordered the garlic and herb bread. It came out quickly and was delicious. For main, we had a garlic pizza, a margarita pizza, gnocchi, barramundi and meatballs spaghetti. The pizzas were polished off by the two kids in no time. The meatballs spaghetti was very tasty and so was the gnocchi. The barramundi had a very heavy tomato based topping on it. The meal was lukewarm and the fish tasted very fishy. I didn't find it very appealing but the salad which came with it was delicious, with grilled eggplants, pumpkin and zucchini. The mains took forever to come out, I think we waited about 40 minutes. I think the restaurant might have under estimated the number of people given it was a cold and wet night and was understaffed for the night. Having said that, even though they were busy, the waitresses were very attentive and friendly.

Absolutely delicious, authentic Italian food. Been here several times now and the food does not disappoint! Lovely atmosphere outside under the grapevines and heaters... definitely recommended in Lorne for Italian food.
You can eat inside or out at sapiritalia. traditional quality service by wait staff who are very friendly- tasty menu I had pasta with seafood and great wine.
Me and my partner came here for her birthday recently. The food was delicious! We had a garlic bread to share for starters. I had the lpizza and my partner had the pastta. Both were cooked to perfection. The service was great.
just fantastic and I would know, I'm a restauranteur myself.
Got the Bruschetta and a pizza. Both were really top quality. Prices are steep but the food was well worth it. Atmosphere was nice and the staff was friendly.
It was our first time at saporitalia but we had heard excellent reports and were very keen to sample what was on offer.
From the charming interior and décor to the faultless service and, of course, the delicious dishes
I had pizza and it was delicious.
My dining companions enjoyed the ricotta gnocchi And none of us could resist a dessert each!
The service was outstanding.
we will be back.
My husband and I found this nice restaurant for lunch today. The best pasta we have had in years. The service was great and the atmosphere was friendly and lovely . Will be visiting every time we come to lorne.
We ordered the meatballs pizza it was fantastic .
Great place.
I stumbled upon this place and was delighted by what I found. The food was delicious and the service exceptional. Portion sizes were good and we left full. I had spaghetti meatballs and my friend pizza. For desert I had a delicious caramel cheese cake. The food was served quickly.
The staff was very friendly .:)
The pizza was cooked in a traditional oven.. So tasty..
Service was very good and friendly. The staff created great atmosphere.
Everything was so good.
Saporitalia...highly recommend!!!!
A whole group of us went last night.
Food was fabulous, the pizza was excellent. friendly staff.
Definitely recommend to anyone visiting lorne.
Everything we ordered tasted delicious, starting from the garlic bread, and the pizza was wonderfull.yummi!@!@@
. Staff were quick and attentive, food came out very quickly.
We dined at the garden,I am italian I must admit that everything was great ...
Meatballs and the pizza was so good....
Great place...
Everything was perfect.
This place is just DELICIOUS! The service is super friendly and relaxed, just lovely. Food is amazing- simple, hearty generous servings of tasty traditional pizza and pasta. Garlic bread is also effing lush! The outdoor setting under the fairy lights and creeping vines is delightful. Will definitely be back when I visit Lorne again!!!
Awesome! Delicious and authentic food, wonderful staff. Paired with a lovely wine selection - almost feels like you're in Italy - perfecto.
The food was delicious and of high quality and tasted so fresh. The service is very friendly. The ambience is nice. Very reasonably priced. We went there two nights in a row. The best meals in town.
My wife and I went here for an early dinner on a quiet Wednesday evening prior to the theatre. The food was sensational. We both succumbed to pasta dishes. The food was fresh, original, good value presented beautifully. Service was prompt and friendly. This restaurant is a must visit if you come down to Lorne.
We were very tired and starving after travelling from 12 Apostles at night. We ordered some antipasto, spaghetti and risotto. What I appreciated the most was all of the dishes were using fresh ingredients and they're totally homey flavour. I could taste of fresh tomato and felt so healthy. The portion was alright and perfect for two persons to share. I guess they need more seasoning like black pepper and salts or even add a little spice to enhance the flavour to be perfect. Btw, the owner was very friendly and funny.
It's been a while since I've been to an Italian restaurant and this place didn't disappoint. We went for dinner and the decor was really nice with friendly staff who attended to us promptly. The food we ordered were tasty and just what I wanted from a good hearty Italian dish.
We started with garlic bread and it was amazing, probably one of the best I've ever had. The main dishes were good too, about what you'd expect. Tasty but nothing super out of the ordinary. It's a little expensive for uni stunners like us, but it was a good experience.
Food was absolutely delicious. Took my partner here for her 30th bday and she ordered the prawn linguini and loved it. I ordered spaghetti with barramundi and this is one of the best pastas Ive had. It was a quiet rainy night so i cant really judge on their service. Food came out after 15 mins which was perfect!
This restaurant has a good mix of dishes on the menu, and the food appears to be authentic italian. We tried the seafood salad to share as a starter, followed by the chicken linguine and gnocchi with chili and bacon for main. All were good serving sizes and tasty. Restaurant service was a little slow due to a lack of staff on the night we went.
Ordered the Prawn Linguine and modified the order with some added Salmon...best decision of the night. Service was good. Received the meal really quickly which was a bonus. The taste?
Un believably good. Little pricey but was a great filling meal.
Will recommend to friends!!
Tastiest Italian I've had in ages, every meal was great and huge portions. So many great options. Would love to return, recommend to anyone staying in Lorne or passing through
Very good!. If you are going to Lorne and ready to grab a bite don't pass this place. Really delicious food!
Open late!!. Wanted Italian at 10pm on a Friday night and Saporitalia was open, YAY. Actually had a reservation for Saturday night, so was already planning to dine there.
Ordered the risotto - prawn and pea. It was delicious. Prawns weren't grilled as per menu, but still yummy.
Service was attentive.
Didn't have room for entrees or dessert, but will definitely visit again next time I am in Lorne.
Not a big fan of pizza so my judgment can be a little clouded or biased I suppose. Not surprisingly I don't often choose it when looking for a restaurant, my girlfriend on the other hand loves it and not surprisingly on this night we ended up having pizza.
All the service was good, though the place was empty as we arrived late in the evening. The Pizzas where thin crusted, lightly topped and portioned well for the two of us. My girlfriend wouldn't have to twist my arm so hard to stop here again and I would recommend for anyone after an easy casual meal.
Great service and food. The baked ricotta gnocchi awesome as too was the pumpkin pizza!
Amazing food! If your after authentic Italian then this is your place. Reasonably priced and good sized servings.
Weird service, good food. We ate here last week during the busy Xmas/NYE period, however as one of only a handful of tables we expected service to be prompt and professional...unfortunately we found the young women who were seemingly running the place were a little blase about the task at hand (serving patrons). In saying this, the food was fresh and tasty with generous serving sizes. The customer service let them down.
Great place!. The pizza was pretty excellent I couldn't stop eating.
The service was good and the price is reasonable.
I am Italian and this is the closest to Nona's cooking !. I visit this few times when im at Lorne. The service and food are always of the same standard - generous portions and lots of flavor . The Mushroom gnocchi is superb, arriving in a hot terracotta dish. I am Italian and this is the closest to Nona's!
Good surprise. My sister and I ate there last Saturday. There was a cycling event on in Lorne so we got in early before it was busy. We though the food might be just average but were pleasantly surprised. We both had pasta dishes and found they were excellent, cooked just right, fresh ingredients, nice flavouring. The pricing was a little bit high, but that's what you pay in a holiday town. We had some concerns about the staff, they were genuinely friendly but seemed a bit amateur and casual. I'm not sure how they would have coped when it got busier, but I'd recommend it on a quiet night for a surprisingly good meal.
Great!!!. My partner and I were here for dinner. Pizza and gnocci were delicious. also the salad was good. realy special good dressing. On top everything arrived in time so that we had a bit time to talk in between and didn't felt stressed with eating. We enjoyed also a good red wine after which I didn't felt asleep as usual. I really like the staff. So lovely and special stuff is hard to find.
Delicious Pasta. We visited Lorne this weekend and dined at Saporitalia. I was a bit hesitant as some of the Urbanspoon comments were not that good. However we decided to try it out. As mentioned in some of the reviews there was a long wait for our main course, but to be fair to the restaurant staff they did inform us that there would be an hour wait on mains before we sat down, so we had the option to leave at that point. However on a cold wet night in Lorne the restaurant was lovely and warm and as we were in no rush be stayed. We ordered a rosemary hot bread with caramelised onion for an appetiser, it was lovely and it arrived in good time. My husband and I both ordered pasta for main course and it was one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had, it arrived steaming hot, plenty of seafood and a nice thick rich sauce. So don't be put off by the negative comments, if you have the time and you are not in a hurry it is definitely worth a visit.
Great tucker italian style! good service!. Excellent food and well priced. Great tucker Italian style. Must try linguine salmon...bit of wait for main but we had a nice antipasti to share for start which was lovely..very busy on that long weekend.we will definitely come back next time.
In Lorne for Easter and there is am abundance of choices. This part of Lorne is one of or favourite places given the old world charm of the location. There has been some hits and misses with food at this location. Happily tonight the 4 adults and 2 teenagers ordered some of the best pasta and risotto that any of us have had. We live in inner suburban Melbourne and found the food at the top end of quality and taste. It's lovely location and service to be well worth the evening out.
Food was nice without bring outstanding. Lot of sauce without too much pasta, and child's nuggets and chips very over-priced at $18 for a cut up chicken schnitzel and not many chips.
Salad was ok. Pizza was tasteless and bland. The pork pizza was bland. Pitty as It was awesome in April. The coffee was great! Pitty we had to walk to the bad for service on a quiet night.
Delicious! The antipasto was excellent (try the lamb meatballs) and so we're our mains. Had the salmon salad and also calamari salad. Both wonderful. Ended up so full that we couldn't fit in dessert - will be going back today in the afternoon for coffee and chocolate tort. The lamb meatballs were served in a tasty sauce which leads me to believe their pasta sauces are probably very good.
Nice setting and friendly staff. I ordered the bruschetta with fresh tomatoes and goats cheese but had to use a magnifying glass to find the goats cheese. When I pointed this out to the waiter he brought me a generous pot of extra goats cheese straight away without any attitude. My husband's tuna salad was superb. A yummy lunch and reasonable prices. We will be back :)
It's a basic box to eat in, but the food is amazing. Try the chicken linguine, and ask for extra chilli - you won't be disappointed. We're in Lorne for a week and were coming back to try their pizza.
Read previous reviews that had some negative comments. Don't always believe what you read! Great vibe when you walk in. A delightful greeting from the front of house staff who were attentive, friendly and really helpful. Food well priced compared to other places in Lorne and just what you should expect. Not busy but a reasonable crowd for a Wintry Thursday night. Food came out in a timely way and was fresh. A comfortable evening. Thank you
Fabulous Italian restaurant, authentic quisine great atmosphere very good service. We had the bacon and chilli gnocci which was superb.
Great food , great serving size, tasty
Best thing lovely hot plates no cold food. Thanks for the nice dinner.
Lovely Italian restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating.
Food was very good, especially the bruschetta which was one of the BEST I’ve ever eaten, including when in Italy.
Husband LOVED his salmon pasta too and still raves about it 😜
I came here with family and we had such a lovely moment ! The waitresses were smiling away all evening, and the atmosphere of the restaurant so cosy! We all had different dishes and were all extremely happy with the food… so delicious !! Thank you and see you again, that’s for sure 🤗
Beautiful authentic Italian food! We had the spaghetti prawns + the pollo pizza and it was just delicious. Lovely wine too. Nice family run restaurant in Lorne :)
