Nice little spot in Lorne for a sweet and savoury breakfast 👌 french toast with maple bacon and extra maple syrup and a tasty ham, sun dried tomatoes and goats cheese omelette 😊 ever in out on the great ocean road with a hungry stomach, check them out! ✌ 7/10 for variety, taste and coin 😊
Stopped in for lunch on the way to Port Fairy and had a very pleasant lunch. Lots of healthy options, plenty of vegetarian too plus a very extensive kids menu. We were lucky and scored an outside table and were able to take in the winter sun while people watching. Good coffee and friendly staff.
We ordered pancakes,waffles and chips.
The service was quick.
The food is good and diffinatly will be a returning customer.
The staff needs training on customer service.
When you walk in you have to seat yourself and grab the menu yourself.
During our trip on the Great Ocean Road, we stopped at Lorne and visited this place for the fish and chips. Must say this is the best fish and chips one can ever have in their life. It’s full of flavor, chips are fresh and crispy, the salad is amazing and specially the staff members are so friendly and concerned. Would definitely go back again!!
Best customer service in lorne by miles, good coffee and brekky and very comfortable seating. Very accomodating, and nothing too big a hassle. A must stop in. Extra special thankyou to the owner who sprinted down the road with my wallet as we were driving away.
Still the Best breakfast in Lorne. We’ve been several times over the last few years. Always good quality food and friendly service. Generous serves, especially the pancakes.
I stayed at Lorne just after South America with Delice Rask (I'm Pam Douglas) and I really wanted to eat at the Kafe Kaos but Delice didn't. Looking forward to eating there one day in the future. Now I'm a massive political problem for Australia. My Mum as a young woman before she married use to love holidaying at Lorne.
This cafe had a lower rating than some of the others in Lorne, but we found it to be better than them in terms of portion size, menu choices and quality. This place was serious value for money with large portion sizes and tasty food. I ordered the French Toast, which was delish and my partner had the big breakfast, which was huge! They catered for my allergies with no problems. Coffee was excellent, no huge wait for the food. Loved it!
Loved the juice/coffee but took a while to receive it all despite only ordering drinks.
Would only guess this place was ‘moderately busy’ compared to their summers so not sure what the go was.
The girl on the counter couldn’t have given us a worse vibe - so disinterested and short with ALL 8 of us who went and ordered at various times. Super super rude and unhelpful - luckily I could explain the menu to my friends cause she definitely wasn’t going to help out
Can definitely see where these mixed reviews come from, guess it all comes down to luck and who’s on shift that day.
Would return but would know not to expect the love you’d get from most other places around Lorne
Delicious food! The smashed avo was great, I also added beans and substituted cherry tomatoes with roasted tomatoes with no problems. Exactly what I needed after a few too many wines the night before. The only qualms I have is that it's not table service, however I'm just lazy.
Great cafe with amazing food. Mum ordered the big breakfast and substituted bacon for goats cheese with no issues. Homemade baked beans were delish. Great coffees and the choc raspberry brownie was so good! Would definitely come back here. Great service and atmosphere. Thanks for a good time.
Good honest breakfast, and the cafe is a magnet for friendly people wanting to stop for a chat. Having read a few adverse reviews on this site, I can only presume a lot of that is down to lack of patience in the summer months when Lorne is jam packed. In winter it was excellent, and dog friendly which was a big tick. A tad pricey but the middle cut bacon just about made it worth the price.
I've been going to kafe kaos for years, the staff are fun and cheery and always welcoming. In busy times they always advise of the wait for food if long! I love their honesty, family feel, good food and excellent coffee. I've read others reviews and clearly they don't understand how hard hospitality can be. The staff always do their best which my family and I appreciate.
Awesome choice for coffee and brunch. We got the smashed avo and the mushroom omelette - very impressed with the presentation and quantity of food you get for what you pay for - I have definitely paid more for less at other cafes, so this one gets a big tick from me.

A well-loved cafe in Lorne and for good reason - it's lived in vibe creates a welcoming and comfortable environment, a refreshing change from other cafes. The staff are efficient and super friendly, but the food is the standout! Eggs were poached perfectly and I was actually a bit jealous of the diner who ordered the pancakes next to me.
This cafe has lots of little touches that make a difference, like the huge phone charger station and old school decor.

Had the muesli with fruit and yoghurt. It was very basic and tasted exactly like the morning sun muesli from coles, so was a little overpriced for what it was but I still enjoyed it. Service was good, even though it was very busy. Would definitely come back for a basic breaky!
Love the "Thin Lizzie" juice! Fresh and great tasting mix of beetroot, celery, carrot, orange and watermelon. A good pit stop at Lorne to refresh.
Had brekkie here, which was everything I wanted it to be when you're very hungry. I'd never had roasted cauliflower before, but I loved it! The pesto also added a unique and tasty flavour to the whole dish.
The only place in Lorne with great service!!!
And they do a mean juice and coffee too, keep doing what you are doing!
Brought our takeaway drinks to us and are even accommodating with kids.

Went in for lunch as they do all day breakfast. The feel of the place was great, warm, inviting and friendly. The service was also wonderful, our food came out in 10 minutes. We got the eggs on toast with a few sides including the kransky sausage which was surprisingly good (I'm not the biggest fan of sausage usually). The coffee was good and my banana smoothie was one of the best I've had in a long time. Very happy with our experience and will definitely come again next time we're in Lorne.
Value and nice people. Pretty cruisy place. had a banana smoothie that me and 2 year old loved. bacon and egg roll was filling and cheap. waitresses were attentive without being annoying. would recommend giving it a go
Breakfast before the Pier to Pub. Turned up at Lorne for what I expect was one if their busiest days of the year. We chose this place for no reason other than it seemed to serve breakfast and there was an available table.
We ordered coffee, fresh orange juice and poached eggs on toast. The coffee was surprisingly ok (always surprised when a good coffee turns up as it so frequently doesn't). The poached eggs on toast were very good.
The free wifi was a bonus as was the power board available to recharge a range of phones.
The choice of music was a bit much for breakfast but it might be that I'm just getting old. Service was very slow but given how busy it was an allowance can be made here too.
Bloody Mary was excellent!! Fresh juice and spicy!!! Bowl o chips to round out the late morning sesh. Hella yum.
Love it!. Such a relaxed place with plenty of seating and great vibe.the couches near the front window are so comfortable and are the perfect position to sit back and watch the world go by. The coffee was perfect too which is crucial.
Meals and menu both look inviting and the all day breaky is another positive. Well worth stepping inside...
We were recommended two breakfast places - moon and kaos. Only kaos is worth the recommendation. Friendly fast service. Table service. Hot coffee. Great breakfast. All unlike moon! Good job Kaos.

Beautiful breakfast.. Wonderful service, great coffee. We shared the eggs Benedict and it was brought on two separate plates to save us divvying it up - so thoughtful! The pancake stack was huge - come with an appetite!
We stopped here for a quick weekend lunch and although we had nothing fancy, the food was good. Try the prawn, lemon aioli and lettuce roll. Yum.
Overall very nice.. Went with a friend there at lunchtime, only 3 staff on hand and about 5 customers so it wasn't packed. Our meals were told they would take 30 minutes and we were offered water while we waited for our Strawberry and Banana smoothies which came out about 10-15 minutes later, they were fantastic. 30-35 minutes later our meals arrived and I had the Smoked Salmon on Foccacia and it was absolutely divine! My friend got his meal and thought it good, too. I must've had a lucky break, because I loved this Kafe.
Hit and Miss. I liked this place because it was kidy friendly and the staff were nice. They did a great vegetarian burger (yes that even rivals its next door competition) and their smoothies and coffees were good. You have the feeling that this place had its hey day I think the place simply need an overhaul of menu and a good clean. I would go back for a coffee but not sure about having a main meal cooked for me again
Flavoursome and well made coffee, and a bowl of delicious porridge (the bowl is bloody huge!) accompanied by crumbly brown sugar and perfectly poached pear. Staff are friendly, food arrives quickly and the prices are just right. Lorne breakfast dining, we have a winner.
Omgwtfbbq pancake stack! The prices are lower than most places in Lorne that I checked but surprisingly the servings were enormous.
What a morning we had! We sat down and enjoyed a breakfast with fresh produce. Service was great and so was the food. Spent our time eating with "friends" and loved the experience. Would definitely recommend breakfast here.
Had a really good breakfast here. Fresh juice great. We shared breakfast muesli and omelette, very filling (for old people). Great coffee. Plenty of newspapers to read. No table service, so get your menu and order quickly.
Had a great brunch, and fantastic cappuccino on our two day visit :) Free WiFi for those traveling. Noticed a giant board of charging cables for phones, a smart touch for tourists! The cauliflower breaky was a savoury satisfying choice!

Retro atmosphere, which is great for having old memories 😁 Has been here for last 20 years, one of the oldest Cafēs in the area.

Probably one of the best thick shakes I've had. Vanilla ftw. The bacon and egg roll + coffee for $12 is a good deal in Lorne, just a shame it can't be traded out for something other that a hot drink for the non coffee and tea drinkers. Will visit again
