Review Andrews Chicken Joint - Lorne

THE BEST CRISPY CHICKEN EVER.. We went for a weekend trip and halal food is always something we look for even when we're travelling. To our surprise they have halal chicken served with some yummy gravy. Their menu includes salads, pizzas burgers, crispy chicken ,fries and what not. We ordered this bucket with fries and no doubt we loved it. The chicken was soft and full of flavours that mostly we don't get. The prices are bit high as compared to the local fast food we usually order.

We ordered 8 large pizzas and 30 spicy buffalo wing. Everything was great. We arrived a bit early to pick up our food so we enjoyed a cold corona while waiting. Great work from the 2 staff that were on duty from Geelong. Thanks for the great food, will definitely be back on our next Lorne trip. Also they have everything here, menu is massive.

I did order two vegetarian pizzas as the combo shown in front of the restaurant. Andrew said no combo. This is the misleading information. He said you need to order separately . As the result I paid more. They did not give the receipt because they rushed or do not want to give. Last in the receipt he mistook the order and typed periperi pizza. This pizza I did mentioned in the combo. When I complained he said you already ate some. Cannot change. No sorry. Bad service. Last thing it did not put rubbish bin at the restaurant. You will be asked to carry the rubbish and bring back home or put in the nearly bin.

This is not right! Just because you are on a busy spot, doesn’t mean you get to do what you want. Ordered Large pizzas, biggest size, charged even more than what was displayed on the board. Walked 10mins to get to the car, only to there are hardly medium-size pizzas in the large pizza boxes. Seriously, lift up your game!

Ordered a chicken burger served with drinks, it was $10 more than displayed outside on the window. When I asked about this, the woman said “pay for it or you can leave darl’ whilst not wearing her mask at all. When I went to pay, she then said ‘oi don’t touch the machine’ when I went to enter my pin to pay. The staff preparing the food did not wear any gloves or masks themselves. The lady was on the phone with one of her friends for about 5 minutes before acknowledging another customer clearly waiting to order. I would recommend people picking literally any other place in town.

The food is great, the pricing is pretty bad though. I'm writing to let the manager know though that both times I have been here his behaviour made me very uncomfortable. He bullies his staff and you can tell they are nervous of him. As a customer I felt more like a child with an angry old aunty watching over me... a certain table that you're not allowed to sit on because the boss said, you even have to take your dine in rubbish with you and put it in a bin 20 meters up the road! wow... The staff are scared off the boss and watching him tell them off makes an uncomfortable dining experience. Like I said, freshest food in town, but I won't go there again unless he chills out because of the pricing and hostile environment.

Today we decided to eat here, ordered a chicken Parma as well as a wrap. The wrap was fine however when eating the Parma we realised that it was raw and not clean as a chunk of blood appeared in the chicken. When I notified the staff of this they responded saying that “it is the colour of the sauce” I was disappointed as I couldn’t eat my food. The owner did not seem concerned once I showed him the problem with the chicken as he just went to the back and continued on talking to his staff, I waited for him to say something however just received a head nod.

Super crispy chicken, freshly made and portion was good too. Owner seems friendly and we had a good conversation with him. Will definitely visit in future.

Not clean, bad service, over priced. Food was okay.

Menu was too big for a small shop. <br/>Fried chicken wings to pizza to parmas to charcoal chicken. <br/>A lot of variety but not well enough executed. <br/>

My fussy 4yo wanted pizza and he chose this place. Had the Meat Eater pizza and it was all yummy delicious. A lot of people coming and out of the shop looking satisfied, not sure why so many negative reviews. Keep up the good job!

Not worth for money as the pizza is smaller than the plate one would normally expect from a pizza shop. Quite disappointing as I would have expected better pizza from a pizzeria.

Entered to this shop with a hungry stomach, luckily the shop was not jammed packed. Ordered some foods to eat, and the result didn't disappoint me. Foods were nice to eat and we finished it in flash!

Orderd 1/2 a chicken with chips and a chicken burger, while waiting the noise of the chairs scratching over the tile floor was horrible. The presentation was average but what do you expect after all of a place like this. Chips tasted like chicken, fish and other deep fried food. The burger was soggy and the sauce dripping all over my hand. Never returning again..! What a shame for such a beautiful place like Lorne.

Shocking.<br/>Went in and was advised there was a 15 min wait on freshly cooked chicken. We agreed to wait, 5 mins passed and to our surprise we received our food. Headed down to the beach for a feed and it was like it has been microwaved. Chicken was as dry as the Sahara desert! Save your money and head somewhere else, place is a joke!

The fish was way too oily, not sure how their “large” chips can be classified as large chips. $50 worth of fish and chips and this is all it got us.

Ordered fish & chips & a chicken souvlaki. The fish was oily & fell apart with oil dripping. The chips were limp & felt like a day old chips. The chicken souvlaki was made with roast chicken & very dried. No sauce added to provide moisture. The tasteless food was overpriced for what was served.

Someone must provide them free salt. Even tho i shaked them hard, the fried chicken and chips were way too salty. I dont know why, but i tried them twice. Definitely disgusting food.

This was the only place that was open until little late (10.30pm). Pizzas were strictly okay. We were hungry and this place was a saving grace.

Busy noisy place that smells of old frying fat. The menu is huge and hangs threateningly over the front counter like a bird of doom. Most people eating here seemed to be tourists. The staff looked stressed and unhappy during the lunch rush. I concluded they were marooned tourists trying to earn some money to escape the place and the town. I was on my own so chose a table for two only. It was so sticky my arms stuck to the surface. The table was in the middle of the cafe at the front and I eventually had hungry punters hovering over me on both sides. It could the world’s worst positioned cafe table. I thought about leaving but I’d already paid for my medium coffee with extra shot. The coffee was drinkable and actually moderately pleasant. The meals coming out looked passable. But, this is a joint not a bistro or higher and it richly deserves its current fail grade of two only.

Do not come. Overpriced. Terrible. Tiny pizzas. Terrible staff. All the previous reviews are correct. This place is a joke. Menu of 100 items no doubt they are all bad. Ordered 2 pizzas for 30+ dollars. So small it was swamped by the pizza box. Horrible.

DREADFUL...JUST DON'T GO THERE! Stopped there to get 4 pizza's, large chips and a wrap, payed $80+. One of the pizza we ordered was double pepperoni, when started eating - appeared there's no pepperoni, took it back to the shop and here come's the best: they picked up cheese and found one piece of "something" that they called pepperoni! Said it is there - we apparently couldn't feel it. Didn't even suggest anything to replace or pay back! We left with the same "pepperoni" which was most likely a margarita. The slice they found must have been the only one that was there and I can't call it anything but shaved ham... disappointment is the only feeling left, pizzas are watery and soooo overpriced! Medium ones are 15$, one can tell cheapest ingredients! Clearly they reply upon one off sales to tourists...definatley no locals.

Biggest waste of $21 ever made. Chips were inedible and had a curry flavour. Chicken looked and tasted like reheated KFC. Never going back. Visitors beware

I now understand why Pizza Pizza receives rave reviews,  people must of gone to this place the previous day.  The chickens seem to be sundried, the gravy is a must if you intend to swallow. These chickens died for no good reason.

Food was average, and service was terrible!! One order was completely missed. Chips were old and stale, person taking the order could barely understand enough English to take the order successfully.

Would have given it a 5 out of 5 if it wasn't for the price, ate here prior to checking out the reviews and we are glad we did else we wouldn't have eaten here. Had the chicken and chips with coleslaw and it was great, all the food was fresh and cooked to perfection, for what we thought would be more of a truckers meal turned out to be fantastic. As said before it was a little pricey but that's to be expected at this sort of destination stop.

Disgustingly over priced. $30 for f&c, which would've costed approx $16 in Melbourne. The quality was not even worth the price either ... Disappointed. Will head up the road to the pub next time and spend the extra $10 on a decent meal

Firstly I would like to say this place is horrible! It's amazing they get any customers with the price they set, also they have posters of combo meals all over the wall that you can't even order. I would strongly recommend avoiding this horrible place as I will be in the future

Pricing is a disgrace! $25 for a chicken roll some chips and a drink! Service was good but the wait for the order was another disgrace! Will not be returning here I can tell you that for free

Not impressed at all. Spent $85 on chicken and chips for 4 adults, 2 children. We kept the chips but had to throw away the dry and old chicken and the inedible chicken burger on old, dry, stale bread. Paid for gravy we did not receive, which just added to the disappointment. This shop was doing a roaring trade - I'd guess all out of town visitors who would be buying their first and last meals ever from Andrew's Chicken. Can't imagine anyone would willingly choose to be a repeat customer. Don't go here!

Absolutely terrible service, rude cashiers and ridiculous wait time. Was quoted a wait of at least half an hour for one chicken breast and chips, and only that cost $23. Do not bother

What a mistake. Ordered the "large pizza" for $19 and it was tiny. The base tasted as if it was pre purchased and defrosted before the unfresh and unseasoned toppings were plonked on top. It honestly made me and my friend feel ill after consumption. However, the greasy chicken is a good source of hangover food. Otherwise, avoid.

We made a mistake here. Shouldn't have gone. Should have looked at the Zomato review and ratings. Anyway, would not come back here anytime soon. However I didn't mind the Burger with the lot ... the only problem was it didn't fit in your mouth and was very messy to eat.

Hhhmm, all these bad reviews...I was personally impressed. Chicken & avocado wrap with some chips on the side. Pretty pricey at $20 for the meal, but expected at a holiday destination on a long weekend. <br/>I thought it was quite delicious!! <br/>Was kind of like eating a souvlaki without all the sauces dripping out - will be back!!

Gosh this place is truly awful. Sullen staff. We ordered 2 pizzas takeaway - the bases were old and chewy, the toppings were bland and they were light on as well. The large pizza was a medium based on my experience. We got charged an extra $3.00 for removing 1 topping on each pizza and replacing with another similar topping (eg changing mild salami to spicy). I have only tried the pizza here, but I have nothing good to say about it. Pizza Puzza down the road is 1,000,000 times better and the same price. Seriously people, save your money and go elsewhere.

Who waits for 35 minutes for take away coffee?. Waiting 35 minutes for a take away coffee and it tasting terrible. Do not reccomend. Half the employees were out side fixing there hair and setting up unmrellas. <br/><br/>Unacceptable for a major strip of road.

An absolute waste of money! Didn't check ratings 1st! Big mistake, though you would think being in business on the main strip of town you wouldn't need too! Feeding 3 families! Phone order and pick up of $100 worth of flavourless undercooked pizza!

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PIZZA. I havent tasted your chicken but i think stick to chicken. Your pizza tasted horrible, i would rather starve to death. Soggy, defrosted, overpriced, tasteless, felt like a sandwitch you pull out of a esky full of water all day. 140 buxs i will never get back. When we tried to complain the manager thought she was to good to speak and turned her head the other way. Dont eat there people

Absoulute crap, i ordered a pizza from there, it took about 45mins to get the pizza, then once i got it, the staff dropped it as they gave it too me, and it went everywhere, then they didn't even make me a new one, they just picked it up off the floor and gave it to me, i feel like burning the place down

Terrible food. I don't have any good words for this place. Food was pathetic, ordered Peri Peri pizza which turned out to be bland with no peri peri sauce. Waiter was not courteous at all. Price charged doesn't reflect quality at all. To sum it up in 2 words - stay away.

Grossly Over Priced Food. If you're after a wallet lightening experience of the highest order, then this place is for you! $14 for a chicken burger, $5 for a side of fries and then another $4 to flush it all down with, yet there's posters plastered all throughout the shop advertising 'combos' with no prices - asked what the prices of the 'combos' were, only to be told they were the total of all the individual items - hardly a 'combo' - I've eaten cheaper at restaurants!<br/><br/>Glad I decided to take my hard earned and spend it elsewhere!

Pizzas were terrible. Ham was woeful. Hardly any other toppings accept the cheese which was weird tasting. Worst pizza I've had in years! Avoid like the plague

Rude staff and average food. Had a capriosca pizza ($16) and Greek salad ($12) both of which were grossly overpriced and a very small serving. FYI cash only

Definitely the place the come if you are after a overpriced,under sized pizza. And if you love it when ur order is wrong , this place will be a winner for you.

Chicken is ok at times, chips are garbage. But the service is horrible. Andrew is a jerk off. He is actually that rude that I wanna bop him. How this place survives is beyond me.

This is by far the worst food establishment in Lorne, not only was the food way over priced and the portions way undersized, Andrew is by far the rudest person that has ever taken my order. I had half the mind to walk out mid order but against my better judgement I still paid for my food and walked away very unhappy.<br/>2 wraps, a small chips and 2 small cokes for $40. Biggest rip off merchant since Christopher Scase.

Worst place to eat from. The service was horrible, the Indian girl that serviced me was so rude and was chewing gum infront of me. And when I asked for sauce she told me to go it myself. Horrible food. They even got my order wrong. Do not eat here worst place. Easter Sunday 4:42pm !

Two words: overpriced and awful! I was sick after I ate there. This place must just survive on the tourist trade because no-one in their right mind would eat there twice.

Pretty Poor. This place doesn't even have a EFT machine. When discovering that I just walked out. Not everyone has cash.

BEST PIZZA EVER. I don't understand all the negative reviews for this place. Maybe it was the unique pizza I ordered, but I can say without a doubt this was the best pizza I have had in my entire life (and I eat pizza weekly!).<br/><br/>TRUST ME. But c'mon, I don't travel to Lorne frequently and when I'm getting the best quality around, I'm really not going to complain. <br/><br/>This is the third time I have ordered the exact same pizza as above and every time this place has delivered. What a wonderful experience ... If you are looking for over priced, greasy food and uncomfortable run ins between staff. Probably wouldn't go back again.

Overpriced and mediocre at best. 20 bucks for a chicken burger that I only finished because I was hungry, and fries that were cooked in old oil. This Andrew character ended up barking at one of his wait staff and causing a really awkward scene - seems like kind of a turd.

Quick, easy but not cheap. $13.50 for an average Schnitzel burger… not a home-made schnitzel either, mind you! $5 for a side of fries. I understand this is a tourist town, and I don't mind $15 for a gourmet burger. This was decidedly unspectacular food, and you would pay $6 for the same in the city. Also, the shop needs a good clean. Looking grotty.

Fried central. I have been to Lorne quite a few times and had the misfortune of stepping into this dive against my better judgement. The food was very ordinary, very expensive and andrew an absolute tool. Remember the customer is always right if you want to stick around

Absolutely Horrible Place. First-up it must be said that Andrews wife was very polite & efficient. The food served unfortunately was Greasy, Tasteless & not fresh plus it was served by Andrew in a very rude & arrogant manner. As we were charged $15 for one wrap!, we spoke to Andrew about it. He then turned nasty and abusive which spoilt our entire stay at Lorne. Since the place looks like a dive as well, I can't think of anything positive to say about it!

Wouldn't be the first place to eat at Lorne. Had fish n chips and BBQ chicken pizza, fish was ok but the pizza had way too much cheese. Whilst eating our meals a lady and her pet dog was seated next to us and she was telling other friends her dog just threw up! Meals went down real well then!!

Don't ever set foot in there!. Deciding on Andrew's for dinner on Saturday night was the worst decision my wife and I ever made! The burgers really sucked and the chips tasted like they'd been taken out of the freezer and put straight into stale oil! Then when we went to return the chips, they did give back our money but were very rude about it and (I'm assuming it was Andrew) turned back at me and said "we serve the best chips in town mate". Not by my standard Andrew.

Very average and very expensive. $2.50 for gravy?! Come on!

There I was, staying the night at Lorne on the Sunday of the Queen's Birthday long weekend, with a sudden craving for pizza. I saw the words "Pizza Pizza above the entrance before realizing it was actually a chicken joint. There didn't seem to be an alternative down the stretch, so against my better judgment I entered. I had never had pizza anywhere but an Italian restaurant or pizza joint, so decided to play safe by ordering a chicken pizza at a chicken joint. The result was a surprise to say the least. They weren't coy with the toppings, so the pizza was loaded with succulent roast chicken pieces, capsicum and pineapple. The amount of cheese was measured and just adequate to ensure the pizza wasn't heart attack on a plate. Hence an unexpectedly good pizza from a most unusual source.

Our first stop was Andrew's Chicken Joint (a favourite among locals and the yearly schoolies and toolies crowd). The food was average. It was a mere notch above what you would expect from a food court but the prices were not dissimilar to one so it was certainly fair.
