Best coffee in Mackay! And you get a chocolate freckle (or 2) with it 😁
Friendly staff, great selection od take away food items available too.
Really really solid coffee, nice and strong with good milk temperature. Friendly service and the brekky wrap is delicious and cheap. Nice spot outside to sit in the mornings as well.
Woodman's Axe Espresso city store is now located on 47 Gordon Street, shop number 6 on the Gregory Street side. Down from zambreros.
Its opening hours are actually 6am till 3pm Monday to Friday and 7am till 1pm Saturday and Sunday.
It's the only place I go to get myself a short long black, double shot single origin. Currently an Ethiopian bean from axil coffee roasters.
All beans used on the synesso machine are supplied by axil roasters with some guest appearances from other roasters sometimes available for retail purchase.
Breaky wraps are the go to breakfast option for something filling, delicious and house made.
Dog friendly and has a bike rack for cyclists out the side of the alfresco dining area.
Going by Zomato it seems difficult to find a good coffee in Mackay. This place makes a pretty reasonable coffee, but maybe not quite a 4.9 rating coffee. They make some awesome mango coconut bread, which really hit the spot this morning. Staff are chirpy and friendly. I've been in twice for short stay in Mackay this week, and I can see why it's a local favourite.
Lov' it. Been awhile looking around for good coffee in town. n i found the one. so happy!!
Best coffee in town. If you want an excellent coffee EVERY time, this is the place to go. Great staff, great atmosphere... Just awesome
I rely on this place for reliably good coffee when in Mackay. Also friendly staff and a choc freckle on top of my takeaway cup, nice work!
Always amazing delicious coffee. Perfect everytime!
AWESOME COFFEE. This is a new espresso bar just opening up in the cbd of Mackay. Up until now there was very little offering by way of specialty coffee in Mackay. Some coffee outlets claim to do specialty but fall way short on quality and consistency. I'm glad to report that the coffee is absolutely devine, beautiful textured milk, smooth coffee leaving me wanting more. Love love love it.
This place lives up to its awesome reputation. The best coffee anywhere. Doesn't matter how you like it made I had it on soy, it is beautiful coffee!
Really good coffee. Even came with a chocolate freckle. Plenty of outdoor seating in the shade, and small amount of seating indoors. Great spot.
I lived in Mackay for 1 year and I have to say this is the best coffee in Mackay! A great pastry case selection as well. Staff are always very friendly and efficient. They have a nice outdoor seating area if you would like to eat in. The food on the menu is simple, but tasty with a few vegan options. I would recommend the avocado toast.
Great place to grab a bite to eat and drink. The coffee and chai are great. Food is a little pricey for what it is; however, it's delicious. Would be 5/5 if the seating arrangement was renovated - atmosphere isn't the best.
Great food and coffee. A little diamond in the rough.
With the recent changes in ownership, I have started to see mild changes happening with there food and service. Woodmans has always been a great place with great coffee, food and customer service, that's what has made it so successful. My only words of advice would be If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
There you are, lying awake in the early morning in your hotel room, wondering why the mattress has not been heritage listed as an instrument of torture, when it occurs to you just get up and go have some breakfast instead.
Ugh. It's 5am, nothing is going to be open for another 90 minutes.
You roll over to re-align your spine and wonder if the floor would be more comfortable to sleep on.
Not anymore.
Woodmans Axe Expresso (WAE from now on) has realised there is enough of a early morning demand for good strong coffee and food at 5.30am, that they have set up a small and cosy shop on Gregory St to cater for that very market.
Wait till 6.30 for a coffee shop to open ? Pfffft, outta my way.
The smell of hot ground coffee embraced me under a clear moonlight sky, and as I stepped in, the aroma and the sound of Jaxson Gamble on speaker, simulataneously greeted me.
The staff were friendly (and certainly friendlier than I feel at 5.30am), the service was quick, the artwork decor interesting, the food hot and delicious and the music, whilst energetic, was not too loud.
Which just leaves the coffee.
But first, some context.
Some coffee shops seem to exist in an Alice in Wonderland bubble, where a normal cup is called 'large', whilst keeping a straight face. WAE also exists in this bubble, but happily at the other extreme.
If you order large mug at WAE, you'd better bring a friend. A large mug will provide you with all your caffeine requirements for the day, and may in concentrated form, resurrect small animals.
The only time I've ever left coffee behind is because it was awful. This time it was because I could not finish it, delicious as it was.
And it's not like I'd had a big meal prior, it was 5 freaking 30 am, and my body was an empty vessel waiting to be filled with liquid caffeine.
Whilst it cannot redeem lost sleep from lumpy matresses, WAE is certainly a place worth getting up early for, and I very much hope they will open a cafe in Brisbane sometime soon.
Great work, team.
Good coffee, good food and friendly customer service! The best coffee shop in town! Their coffee reminds me of Melbourne.
