Review Avenue - Mackay

Lovely staff, good value for money and yummy food. I got the vegan lunch option of roast veg salad and I really appreciated the addition of protein and fats in this meal. I do wish there was another savoury vegan option so I could come back again and try something new. The salmon croissant was very well put together. A decent portion of salmon and avocado and a runny poached egg! I'm impressed. Both meals were very fresh.

Good service. Our meals came out surprisingly quickly. Food was delicious. We had the hashbrown stack and brekky scramble. Just the right serving sizes too. The cherry ripe slice was memorable.

It was 3 years ago when we first came here, their service is good and staff very friendly.they have good quality meals and cafe . We are happy after Covid-19 they still here and welcome to us. Always wanna to try everything here ❤️ Thank you all.👍

I thought it must be a joke when I opened by takeaway bag and found the so-called sausage roll in this super tiny size. Tomato sauce($0.5) is even bigger than it. Such a rip off for $3.50. I went back to the shop and the staff confirmed it was not a joke, it’s real. Truly disappointing. Coffee took 15mins to wait while my mate and I kept hearing staffs are just joking around.

Wow and YUM!! Great food, great coffee and fabulous service! The spinach, zucchini, pumpkin and beetroot salad was "to die for", topped off with crunchy chickpeas and pepitas - plant-based heaven!! - very impressed. Hubby is still extolling the virtues of the house-made beans which he had with perfectly cooked hash browns, mushrooms and spinach. We'll definitely be back. Thank you.

A note of caution. Yesterday I had lunch with friends here. My omelette with extra mushrooms, and topped with a tomato salsa, (also very nice) was good, as the food here usually is. I’d almost finished it when I discovered I had a decent sized (2cm square approx) piece of glass in my mouth. The mushrooms were whole and therefore I’d bitten down on that glass. Didn’t break luckily! It could just as easily gone partway down with the food otherwise. I did not finish the rest of the meal. I took the piece of glass and advised staff. I did receive an apology with the words “I don’t even know where that would have come from”. These things happen I know, and I did decline a refund or replacement meal, but did accept the offer of another coffee. That never arrived. I did ask for the owner to call me, left my name and phone number. That didn’t happen either. My meal arrived well after my two friends meals and after two tables who arrived after us were served, which in hindsight did make me wonder, did something happen? My friends’ meals were different and they fine and delicious as always. My main concern is whether the staff did follow up on this at all and are making sure whatever caused glass to actually be cooked into a meal, is fixed? That, I think is important. I do know I’m reluctant to return.

Avenue Cafe was Amazing, definitely deserved of a 5 star rating. Safe for children under adult supervision & staff are child friendly! Quick friendly service with a smile! Food was tasty & well presented great value for money. We will definitely be having all our business meetings there. Thank you to the Avenue Cafe.
