Review Cafe Aberdeen - Macleod

Taylah Shaw
Great little cafe in the heart of beautiful Macleod. I took my nan here for her birthday and she said she would definitely come back and highly recommends the spinach and ricotta sausage roll. I was grateful to have my tasty grilled chicken wrap amended to meet my dietary requirements. Cappuccino and latte were made perfectly by talented barista. We spent a long time catching up and felt comfortable in this local gem. The very friendly staff made this a memorable experience worth me writing a review for. After we enjoyed shopping at the nearby opp shops.

We had Chicken burger and Chilli scramble. Food and coffee was very good. Friendly staff as well. However this may be a little pricey for breakfast or brunch.

Loved the coffee. Ordered a takeaway almond Latte and I can say it was THE BEST almond latte in the in the area.
Aman Keb
Had the egg and bacon bun with some hash brown and was not disappointed. The bacon was juicy and the egg was well done and soft buns. Hash brown were also nice and crispy. Would definitely come back.

Exceptional service and food. Great value for money. Try the breakfast box for two. High quality coffee and food. Would definitely recommend this place. Take the train to Macleod. Well worth the effort.

Highly recommended. Coffee is great.

Awesome coffee and delicious food, staff are very friendly and attentive. I order a triple shot latte served warm with honey and I can tell its made with love. this is going to be my local brunch spot!

I have issue with all the glowing reviews and "best ever!" Exclamations. Seriously ridiculous and slightly off putting. This was an average place. The food was average as in OK. The coffee was OK. The service was below average and needs work. Ambience is average if not a little uncomfortable. Prices were average to above average.

In a completely unbiased opinion. I would have to say this little cafe is the greatest cafe in the whole of macleod. They do top notch food. Amazing coffee. And the staff are easy on the eyes. Like how awesome is purple hair!!! 10/10. Or in this case 5/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The perfectly circular plate held with such flawless placement a burger that at first glanced could have easily been mistaken for an original Van Gogh. The glistening brown bun with the lightly sprinkled sesami seeds when the first bite made you feel like you were sinking your teeth into a savoury toasted cloud. Following the bun was a chilli glazed bacon that i never thought possible to exist outside of dreams held so much flavour that you wouldnt think the patty would be able to meet such a high standard of the pallet. But less i knew, the patty was outstanding. An explossive tender and rich herbed flavor that had your heart racing thinking it couldn't get any better but once having your mouth go all the way through that first patty, a second patty was there to greet you with such a welcoming and friendly hand take take as it gives you the final venture before this flavour train that you have taken travel on for an unforgettable trip to a place called flavour county.

My partner and I are lucky enough to live two minutes from Cafe Aberdeen. The food is always amazing and the service is great. I am always excited to check out the special board. Definitely some of the best breakfast I've had in Melbourne
Natalie Kean
Poorly organised inexperienced staff cold food and poorly made coffee. With lots of competition in this street they need to lift their game

Love this cafe, and I especially love I can take my pooches with me! Go the almond milk latte, wins every time!

Have been here before and it was great. Today was just a let down. No service, no water, no personal attention.

We shared a lovely housemade foccacia. Rory loved two marshmallows with his cino. My coffee was OK. The staff we're nice. We'll come back for sure.
Andrea Purcell
Always a great experience. Food, drink and service are equally fantastic. Never disappointed.

Just grabbed a weak latte to have in the park across the road! Lovely service by the staff. And really had to restrain myself from wanting to buy any of the biscuits and slices they had. Hope to come back and try their lunch soon. And coffee was awesome!

Cute little local cafe. Good coffee and breakfast! Nicely located across from the park too :)

Friendly staff, good selection of food for a small suburb cafe. Living around Macleod, this is our go to local cafe and the coffee is good :)
Penny
Very slow service and rude staff. The food is fair but the rudeness of the staff makes the whole experience not worth it. Don’t bother - take your business elsewhere.
James De Maria
Great cafe, good customer service and the grilled veggie roll with halloumi was tasty. Soy hot chocolate was a winner too. Would come here again.

Sunny side up ...

Not talking about those eggs but the corner block cafe location, whitewashed with sun rays ... just a beautiful spot, overlooking a park and Macleod station ...

7/10 $3.90 Moccopan beans and Victoria Arduino combo latte is not bad too ... gotta love those morning and afternoon rays. My favourite spot in Macleod! Enjoy the coffee and food there all the time ! Staffs are all very friendly. Really yummy lamb salad. My boyfriend loves Chicken burger and beef burger there! Highly recommend to try this nice cafe !!!

Another coffee and today’s lucky cafe was this one! Tucked away on the corner in Macleod (across from Sweet Mocha, featured in my next review!) there is indoor seating and also outdoor seating to take in the great suburb and its green surroundings! The coffee had a subtle roasted flavour to it which was delicious. I paired this up with a vegan cashew slice. It was yummy but warning that the dedicated coconut and coconut oil base doesn’t last long, it was a little runny in a matter of seconds. Nice joint, their lunch menu looked fresh! Thanks!!!
I didn’t get to eat here due to the fact that I was promised menus which were never delivered. After 15 minutes of waiting my partner and I walked out.

Upon entering we selected a seat and a blonde haired girl with a striped top promised us menus. We waited. She started setting up a large table and spoke to someone I assume was her friend. We waited more. I saw her give others their food and ignore us. Her mate had gotten his coffee and left so we decided to as well after 15 minutes of sitting at our table.

Poor service is easily avoidable, there is simply no excuse for it. The cafe wasn’t even busy, two tables were eating. Completely unacceptable and I won’t be back.

We ended up going to east ivy where we were asked if we wanted coffee straight away and received menus while being asked this.

This is my regular coffee place, on the way to the train station and the park in Macleod. Coffee is always good and staff are lovely. Great place for breakfast, the bacon and eggs are always cooked to perfection :0) keep up the good work guys!

Nice local café that we go every week. Nice coffee, easily better than lots of inner city fancy cafes. Have different special on every time we go, you can always surprise yourself with something new.

I went here with my friend as it was conveniently close to Macleod Station. We ordered the BLAT's and we amazed at how big and tasty they were! We have since come back many times for brunch dates and have never been disappointed. As Uni students the cost isn't too bad either, This is one of my favorite places to eat! Friendly staff also :)

Cafe Aberdeen feels like the first pioneer to reach Macleod from Fitzroy. It's a friendly cafe with decent coffee and good food with just enough modernity to feel hipstery for Macleod with none of the pretentiousness that the word hipster can imply.

Would recommend Cafe Aberdeen first and foremost to any hungry visitors passing through Macleod.
Split The Bill
Busy place situated in Macleod Village. We tried the BLAT focaccia and bacon and eggs. Thumbs up for both. Bacon cooked to perfection and plenty of it. Coffee hit the spot and the OJ was freshly squeezed - how happy was I!!! Not many cafes seem to have freshly squeezed OJ. Service with a smile and meals arrived very quickly. Serving breakfast, lunch - lots of burger options - and cakes. Quite a few menu items I can't wait to go back and try. Definitely one to check out. Kids playground across road.
Food By Hilly
Went here for lunch and ordered the burger. The burger was very nice but it came with 2 slices of cheese in it which was not specified on the menu. Although I merely removed the slices from my burger this is somewhat sloppy and if one was lactose intolerant this could require the whole meal to be remade. My smoothie was quite good albeit a little bit too sour. All in all quite nice but the overlooking of details was a bit disappointing.

A enjoyable lunch along Aberdeen road, Cafe Aberdeen provided a wide range of burgers available for lunch. I settled for the AFC which was beautifully presented, the chips well salted. The burger itself was nice nothing outstanding. I washed the burger down with a MerryBerry smoothie, which was sour; perhaps too much mixed berry?
A nice little cafe in an up and coming area.

I must be the only one to disagree with the comments below
YES the food is nice..BUT the ultimate NO NO is receiving a cold coffee and asking for a hotter coffee and having a returned coffee even colder .....especially when I went in and asked the guy to make it hotter than the first .......one can be forgiven for one but 3 . It was the same when I dropped by for a takeaway and it was cold this was the 3rd one... I had a fourth one also in that week it was nice, However they gave me the wrong food order
.... The waitress did say they'll make another one. I told her not to worry... However my thoughts were I won't bother coming back.. The coffee AT 54 is as good I never had this problem .. The guy should of -For customer service -made it anyway or offered a complementary one next time..........Customer service! I probably would have thought ok maybe next time it will be better..... The front staff smile enough but service is just OK( adequate..... The food is nice...... the coffee would be nice if it was made properly
This is not about putting the café down... its hopefully constructive information.... I will go back in a week or so, because I like the food and I know the brand of coffee is good .. but for the moment I stick to the other one
Liza
Great coffee, love their breakfast menu! Overlooks the park! The best cafe in Aberdeen!
Bacon and eggs are perfect everytime and friendly staff always welcome their customers.

It's been probably more than a year since I've last been here. Used to be a regular during the high school days and I've never had a bad experience.
This cafe has definitely improved over the years in both looks and food. I ordered the chilli scrambled eggs and my friends both ordered burgers. Presentation of food looked nice, food was also really great, much better than expected.
Would definitely recommend if you're in the area and would definitely be coming back more often! Great job Marcus & team :)

I get brunch here often and always leave happy and satisfied! Great food, coffee, friendly staff and fast service in a nice quiet location. Everything you could ask for 👌🏼

Never had a bad experience!

This cafe is definitely a local favourite, people are always there, and there is no surprise why! I have been on multiple occasions over the last few years as I am only a quick 10 min drive away, and I have never been disappointed. Located on a strip of shops near Macleod train station, Macleod football field, a local park and Macleod high school it is perfect convenience for everything.

I went on a Thursday morning while waiting for my puppy to be groomed. My mum and I got a table straight away by the window and even though they had a queue waiting for take away coffees our own drinks and meals came out really quickly. No delay with service here.

I ordered the baked beans and just simple poached eggs on toast for my mum. The quality of these meals were amazing and so worth your money. The poached eggs were perfect and my baked beans had so much flavour and such a big serving!! I couldn't finish it!

If you are wanting great food and coffee at a local cafe go to cafe Aberdeen! Don't change guys keep doing what your doing!
Total Fail.

This place really let down on all fronts from the food to the service. The young waitresses looked like they didn't want to be their and the bare basics from providing a friendly smile or bringing water to the table were forgotten. Then came the drinks and iced latte that resembled a glass of milk was not what i had in mind. I was excited for the food a lamb and haloumi salad. What i got was absolutely terrible and i couldn't finish it. The lamb tasted like it had been scored off the back of an old souvlaki truck then drenched in ancient oil from the fish and chip shop. Everything was drenched in this same oil and that was the only flavour that came through all the food including my partners potato rosti dish. Normally i really don't like to leave a bad review and to at least find some positives but this place needs a wake up call and a refreshment of staff who can at least act like they want to be there. Owners take note!
Beccy's Adventures
Great, friendly staff. Even better smoothies. The berry smoothie is the best I've ever had, with the perfect balance of fruit and honey/yoghurt, it's absolutely divine. Can't wait to return.

Disappointing. I expected coffees to be made in the order they are taken. The latte was acceptable but it was disappointing watching people who ordered after me being served first.
Cinnamon's Food For Thought

Great little local cafe.

The staff are always friendly.

The food is fantastic, with new specials always being added to the menu.

Coffee is great, and the large is LARGE! perfect for an early morning kickstart.

They also do "Burger Night" every Friday from 5:30-8:30pm with different burgers each week.

Great local stuff. Awesome staff. Great food. Good value. Apparently need a minimum of 140 characters to review. So I'll highly recommend stopping by for Coffee and brekky!
Logan Clark
Good spot for a quick coffee and a decent feed. The shop itself is a pretty quaint little place which is great when you just want to drink coffee and stick my head into a few recipes!
Two Bears And A Fork
Macleod isn't the type of suburb you'd expect to find a youthful and bustling cafe like this. But thank goodness it's there because they were my safe haven this morning! I have the most amazing mechanic who's a short walk from Cafe Aberdeen, so hubby bear and I decided to have brekky while we waited for my car to be fixed. One soy flat white and one normal flat white hit the table first and were both fine - nothing magical, but good enough to perk up the caffeine receptors in our brains. I had the Veg Brekky and hubby bear ordered it too, but added bacon. Which made it a non-Veg Veg brekky haha!! I must admit, that had to be THE best veg brekky I've had anywhere of late. Lots on the plate - 2 poached eggs, 2 slices of wheat toast, a mound of spinach, pile of mushrooms, half an avocado, and 3 halves of tomato!! Everything was cooked perfectly, toast done just right and was all eaten up with gratitude! If you enjoy a veg brekky - even if you're a carnivore - definitely go!

Best Cafe, best service, best food. I love the atmosphere and wonderfully friendly staff. The food is sensational and always freshly cooked. I have always had great service and a friendly smile. Cafe Aberdeen is a great asset to the Macleod community. Thank you Marcus and staff

Not mum friendly!. Went in with a group of mums from my new parents group to grab take away coffees. Not sure whether it was the fact we had to bring in the prams to purchase our coffee or our babies were too noisy (most were asleep) or the barista was just in a bad mood, but we all left feeling like we were a great inconvenience. One mum even apologised when paying for her cold drink at the counter due to the sour face on the barista. Naturally, I'm not overly impressed! Will be trying another cafe along that strip in future.

Went for breaky with friends sunday morning. service was amazing( coffee girl hot!) food delish only issue was room was hot inside! needs an air con fan clearly not enough hate to think how staff feel, especially in kithen. would go back just not on a hot day.

Favourite local. Has really hit it's stride recently after a spruce up, new menu and friendly faces. Friday burger nights are fantastic - beautifully done and well priced. All this and cute little macleod too :)

Gorgeous little corner cafe with a great breakfast menu and Friday burger nights. Coffees good too,

Love this cafe. Have my weekly Sunday brunch here. Service great, good coffee. Thanks Marcus & co!

Nice relaxed atmosphere but food was very average. Had corn fritters with smoked trout. The trout was full of bones and the corn fritter very dry and cold. Won't be eating here again.

AH-MAZING. Came here with m.... AH-MAZING.
Came here with my husband and baby today we ordered steak sandwich, pork burger and garlic salted chips it was all delicious generous portion sizes and full of flavour we can't wait to return and try more on the menu! The coffee was a little bit weak but that is just personal preference. Great to see a trendy cafe that's baby friendly too and welcoming! See you soon cafe Aberdeen

Burgerific. Just wondered down to Aberdeen to test out their new Friday night burger evening. Had the pulled pork burger with coleslaw and garlic fries, was delicious! Will definitely be down next Friday to try the double bacon burger which looked amazing. Great Friday night feast

Great local. Visited this cafe for breky this morning. Loved it. I built my own breakfast (love the title)- poached eggs, perfectly poached, tomato and avocado. Beautiful. Served with a lovely strong latte. Perfect start to the day! :)

Never Never Again. Basically unless you're desperate don't go!
Simple order, 1 x Vanilla Milkshake, a strong flat white and a vanilla slice to have there.
Milkshake and coffee delivered to table in takeaway cups, I reminded they were to have here and was told ""Milkshake will be ok as it's for a kid but will fix coffee". Staff member then carried coffee back and tipped it into a cup, I then asked for a fresh one and was told it would be 10 minutes as other orders first. When questioned he replied that yes he was the one that made the mistake but that's just the way it is. After about 10 mins a latte arrives still no cake. I decided to cut my losses and drank the latte, after a reminder the cake arrived and was ceremoniously thrown onto table.
If you want a local business to succeed have some staff who get customer service and can string two words together.
This place will close eventually, hopefully new owners will be better
Richard Thornton
Friendly but no frills. Ordered poached eggs on white rye and fruit toast. Eggs came 20 minutes later with uninspiring commercial wholemeal bread and I was ony told then that they had no fruit toast. Staff are always lovely though.

Wow ! Lucky to sit down st.... Wow !
Lucky to sit down straight away and the food came out quickly but not rushed.
My only gripe, which I have with many is the walk to the ATM being cash only.
The food - 8.5 - which now has me regret the fundraiser snag I snuck in on the way back from the ATM as the desert I was craving looked delicious - good reason to get eft pay option huh ? -
Overall, well worth the visit

I absolutely love this place! The service is tip top, everything is reasonably priced (especially the awesome specials) and there are some yummy vego options! I'll be back again and again!!

Best breakfast!. The new owners have put together a beautiful menu, I have to say I had the most amazing breakfast (vegie brekky) there the other week. Every part of it was exceptional, so tasty and perfectly cooked. Finally, a good cafe in the area!

FINALLY... At long last... A place that serves a breakfast that had me leaving very, VERY satisfied and it's a local suburban place. Mocha Bean Cafe puts the swanky inner city places to shame. I had the The Big Vegitarian Breakfast and it was soooo good... Halomi cheese, caramalised onions, home made bean (YUM), eggs, toast, tomato's, Spinich, mushrooms MASSIVE portion and so, SO TASTY. Ohhhh yeah. I was unable to leave without making sure I went and told the chef he's a bloody legend.

Basic breakfasts. Breakfast menu is not especially inspired or broad, but the food is good and well-priced. Coffee is quite good, too.

What a great little cafe, awesome coffee, very tasty brekky and lunch and very attentative service with a smile, what more could you ask for!
