Great seafood in an enchanting environment
After dining in 'downtown' Surfers Paradise for a few days I thought I would give Tedder Ave a try as I had heard good things. A walk up and down the strip reading menus and surveying the scene landed me at Shuck Restaurant and Bar.
I started with a half of a dozen oysters. I wanted to try both the Sydney Rock and Natural Pacific and they were kind enough to serve me three of each. The Pacifics were oyster perfection - briny and meaty and tasting fresh from the sea. The Sydneys were not to my taste - somewhat flavorless and a bit sweet if anything. To each their own....YMMV.
I followed them with the Moreton Bay Bug Tempura served in an onion salad with nori and a wasabi sauce. The bugs were fried lusciousness and the salad a tasty crunchy accompaniment. In a perfect world there would have been less sauce (and perhaps more wasabi in the sauce)...but that isn't really a complaint so much as a note for next time.
I chose an Ara Chardonnay to accompany my meal. In a perfect world a Chenin Blanc would be offered...but I've since learned that neither Australia nor New Zealand grows a lot of the grape.
The atmosphere is fun and open - I had an exterior table and watched the world walk by. The service was wonderful.
This place is worth a visit for the garlic prawns alone. They are superb. Chips a must have side to soak up the flavors once the prawns are all gone. Great service and excellent value bottle of wine recommended by staff was perfect compliment to the food.
The food was amazing and the service was excellent. The ambiance was great, dimmed lights in the evening for that added romantic effect. This has to be my favorite restaurant at the Gold Coast thus far.
Went for a spot of tapas and a few drinks after my friends wedding. Had:
Crumbed calamari- super tender
Chilli chicken strip- tender and yum but not hot
CHips- best pepper flavoured aioli dipping sauce
Pulled pork pizza- yummy
Only reason not a four is first to order out of our group was completely forgotten about, they kept saying it was coming for them when all they wanted was for them to say they forgot, accidents happen. Ended up getting there money back so shuck was a good sport..
would return for dinner if had time food was yum!
When i made the booking at shucks, i informed the restaurant that my partner was vegan. On arriving at the restaurant, it was clear to see that both chef and waiting staff had gone out of their way to accomodate us.
My partners starters of vegetables with punpkin puree was phenomenonal, especially when we considered that this was primarily a seafood restaurant. Her main, pumpkin risotto rivalled my main- seafood pasta.
Too full from our starters and main, we skipped dessert.
10/10 for service as well. Definitely will return.
Shuck is one of our all time favourite restaurants on the Gold Coast. Great position in the middle of Main Beach. The service is always very good, your every need is anticipated the way it should be. The menu is fantastic. The Crab Lasagne is my favourite and is is known that customers come from all around Australia to experience this amazing dish.
We were early (5pm). Very kid friendly. Crab lasagne with abalone sauce - unbelievable.
Fantastic. Food was beautifully cooked and presented and the staff were exceptionally courteous and helpful. Great atmsophere.

Amazing dining experience. I don't eat seafood however enjoyed a delicious duck entree, eye fillet main with mash to die for and the best sticky date pudding imaginable. Service was exceptional, timing was perfect and meals sublime. Highly recommend even if not seafood lovers

Awesome. No real comment, it is expensive, but the price is forgotten the moment you take your first bite. 5 Stars!

What a lunch, most amazing seafood I have had in years! Presentation would rival any world class restaurant I have been to! If you don't go you are missing out on a culinary experience!!! Loved it!
Try the sashimi plate - 15 out of 10 unreal !!

What a night - thank you. What a great restaurant and bar... it has it all great food, great staff and atmosphere... and when you finish your meal head next door and enjoy the night away - well done Shuck!!!!

Great Restaurant with good food and service. May be a bit overpriced, but aspirations set by Restaurant seem high.
We had Tempura Oysters and Tempura Squid as entrees. Both delightful, and one of the best tempura batter experiences in a long while. However with the Tempura Squid in particular, there was a definite lack of squid in the entree. It was there, but more for flavour than substance.
My wife and I both enjoyed the Surf and Turf dish for our lunch. The most premium dish on the menu. It was an absolutely amazing sensation of flavours. From little flat outer solid sauces to the red wine jus, and the seasonings of each ingredient it was flavour rich, and all worked well.
However, I felt the half of a Moreton Bay Bug and just the 2 prawns butterflied was quite sting with the “surf” half of the dish. Especially at the $72 for lunch dish price point. The caramelised capsicum and onions used to stack the seafood was perfect. The most disappointing component of the surf and turf dish was the turf. A Rib Eye steak, whilst appropriate in size, and cooked to perfection at medium rare, it was not the melt in your mouth type of flavour rich experience I would have hoped for and used to.
Service was “slower”, but I felt appropriate for a leisurely “experience” meal. No feeling rushed to get out whilst the flip the table covers.
A really good, solid choice. Although not the high contender we’d been told about and were hoping for.

All I can say is wow! I can never eat seafood again unless it's from this place. Best oysters I've ever had across Australia and honestly the best customer service I have ever experienced. I could not fault a thing! Thank you. ❤️
The best Spaghettini I ever had. We enjoyed the oysters too. Our server, Nikki was very kind and provided us very good service, very professional and friendly.
This food was incredible, service was amazing and I am definitely coming back! Money spent well and amazing food. Full too! The garlic prawns are to die for!!
We came here for the seafood and their signature crab lasagna. It was absolutely amazing!
Cooked perfectly and literally melting in your mouth.
The lasagna sauce is so creamy and tasty that just makes you want more.
Service is attentive and nice.
Suitable for a date night.
