Review Thai Orient Restaurant - Malaga

Aaron
My friends brought me here this week. I had the green chicken curry lunch special. It came out quickly and it was delicious, very authentic. My friend's had the ginger chicken and the chicken cashew nut. Both were thoroughly enjoyed. With a clean restaurant and a polite and friendly staff member, lunch was a pleasant experience.

Ordered beef fried rice and prawn pad Thai. Both were delicious and not too oily. It was Wednesday so they had the buy one get one free soup day. Got the chicken tom yum kha which is tom yum soup with coconut milk. It was very nice. Overall the food was good and the taste was authentic to Thailand cuisine.

Had lunch, ordered pad Thai, Thai fried rice & another chicken dish & tofu. We requested it to be very spicy & it came out as requested. Food was fabulous. We enjoyed it. All that came to $60plus.

Ordered Tom Yum Soup (if you could call it that) was given a container the size of a kittens milk bowl with some watered down tomato soup broth.... 3 full mushrooms floating on the top, one cocktail prawn, a slice of squid and 2 peices of what I think was white fish!!!! My dog could have made something more tasty and it doesn't even have thumbs!!!!!!

Best green curry I've had in perth, good size portions. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent food! Ambience needs to improve. Will def return for the food

The service was fast and efficient. Lots of little touches to make our experience more enjoyable. Like a slice of lemon in the jug of water. The food was prepared fresh and served quickly and it was so tasty hot and delicious. Definately will go back. The restaurant was very clean and tidy. Maybe could have been a little warmer. Prices were reasonable.

The worst Thai restaurant I’ve ever been. Not even managed for Thai people but that is not the main problem. The service is terrible, inflated prices , the food no even taste like Thai food. If you are Thai or if you love Thai food this is not the right place for you.

Very average food! Went for my sisters birthday dinner and had the Thai beef salad the only flavour coming from it was an overkill of lemon juice. My family all said their meals were also very average. Wouldn't come back here would rather go eat cheaper better food at Phu Vinh next door

The place was dead quiet last night. Ordered number 28 on the menu, beef, mushroom and vegetables. It was ok. Reminds me of something I would make at home rather than a restaurant meal. Not sure that is what I am after when I go out.

Have tried to give this place a go 3 times and each experience with different meals have been a let down to put it nicely! Save your coin and go else where! The meat tastes poorly and not fresh what so ever. Very over priced for what they serve!!

We come here all the time for work. Its not bad - but it's not amazing either. Little bit on the expensive side for what you get. Good massaman curry.

Really enjoyed my meal, being thai myself im really fussy with my thai food. It really tasted like my mums cooking which is second to none. Average pricing but well worth it and will definitly be back for more.

We came here for lunch during work and it wasn't bad. I ordered the Pad Thai (chicken). I squeezed a bit too much lemon on it though but that's my own fault. My colleague ordered the Satay Sticks to share and they were yum. Servings were a decent size too.

24.11.16 --
This time we came I ordered the Pad Sieel and it was nice. I found this to be nicer than the Pad Thai.

Salty Westernised Thai food. Having been back from Thailand just a few weeks ago, I've been craving for Thai food so gave this restaurant ago since it's got pretty good ratings here. I was utterly disappointed. We ordered fish cake, tomyum, green curry and shallot ginger steamed fish. The only good thing was the tomyum, it's got a great depth of flavour and there was enough chilli in there to just give it a kick. Our fish cake was over-cooked, didn't have the kick of kaffir lime leaves that it should have and it was salty. The green curry was a big disappointment. Not only did it not taste authentic, the salt killed any flavour it could have had in there, and the addition of crunchy (or under-cooked) carrots with baby corns just made it worse. The steamed dish was also, surprise surprise, VERY salty. We didn't wanna waste the fish so tried to pick the flesh off but in the end decided to leave half of it as we couldn't handle it. The food also took a VERY long time to make it to our table. They seem to prioritise take away orders a lot more than diners. Needless to say we won't be coming back.

Mr. Philip More. Very tasty green curry, balance of veg & meat! Mixed entree quite good can taste all the entree on one plate!
So far, very good dinning experience!

The lunch time special menu is good value but if you want to eat in the evening make sure you bring a large wad of cash. The dinner menu is expensive. Not what you would expect from a restaurant that is located in the industrial area of Malaga.

The food was great but be prepared to wait 30-45mins for the food to come out.

I've been to this place once or twice before, but tonight's visit was appalling. To start with, we waited for about an hour for food, followed by a mediocre, overpriced meal with tough, rubbery squid which the manager assured us was how it was supposed to be cooked. Tiny serves which don't justify the prices, understaffed, no idea what their food is supposed to taste like.

Food good but others are x. Generally I would say the food are very nice and authentic, but it is overprice and cooking time is unbelievable long. There are only 3 tables with customer and it have more than half an hour to serve our meal, can't imagine when it is packed.

Excellent Thai Restaurant. My family and I generally visit this restaurant every couple of weeks. We've always had really nice food here, and we've tried many of the menu options. The staff are really friendly and attentive.

Nice thai. Different chef at night/weekends?
during the day, the food here is some of the best thai going around in perth, the gangpa beef is amazing and a personal favourite..

i've ordered from here at night and the same dish seems a little different, putting that aside the others are still great and top notch, i enjoy this place but consistency could be a tad better.

Was dissapointed. I orderd larb chicken and chicken green curry with rice, and a side of chopped chillys, and a lemon ice tea, $42 D: the larb wasnt very nice, and it didnt look like any other larb i have eaten before, the chicken green curry was ok, but wasnt anything special, the chillys were pritty hot :P i will not be returning, expecially after paying 42 dollars, for average thai food...

Not great. Most of the reviews on here are really positive so we ignored the bad one and decided to try it. We ordered our favourite dishes, Pad Thai and Massaman Curry but neither were very nice. The Pad Thai had a tomato flavour instead of traditional thai flavours and the massaman tasted more like an Indian curry rather than a Thai curry. Maybe their other dishes are better but we always measure a place by its pad thai and massaman curry so won't be returning. We've struggled to find really good Thai food in Perth, so far the best is the Kingsley Thai kitchen, its pad thai is also average but the massaman is very good.

We order regularly from this restaurant and the food is fantastic and well priced. Definitely try the mixed entree and pad Thai.

Great!. Great unassuming little place, polite and helpful staff, fabulous food, very tasty, good pricing...
Only found it off the net, when 6 or so other places were either closed,
had bad reviews, or didn't answer the phone,
defenitely go back to this little gem down the road...

We purchased the ginger beef and Thai red curry tonight from Thai orient as well as a couple of entrees. Overall EVERYTHING was bland. Definetly not our idea of a good Thai. Full moon Thai in mount lawley is still the best.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. My husband and recently dined in, and were pleasantly suprised by how good the food was. The service was reasonable but the food was fantastic! It's Friday night and we have just ordered take away cause we can't get the idea of eating the food from there out of our heads. Highly recommended!!!

PLS. I have no idea what graimtiz_nellress is going on about. I dine at thai orient about once every couple of weeks and food is genuinely authentic as ive been to thailand countless times. The service is always great and prices are very reasonable. Have you tried other so called 'authentic' thai restaurants? thats what you called unreasonable pricing and small servings. I do also notice they're usually quite but thats because they do alot more takeaways than dining ins. (the phones always ringing when we dine in and people going in and out to pick up their order)
Graimtiz_nellress
Authentic thai???. Let me begin by sayin that I will NEVER return to this restaraunt and would never recommend it to anyone else!!
My partner and I decided to enjoy a thai meal at thai orient and were looking forward to it as we dont often get the opportunity. We entered an empty resturant and took a seat.
We have both eaten authentic thai food, some even enjoyed in thailand and i can honestly say our meal couldnt be further from authentic let alone even good!
The meals for the serving size were very overpriced, the food was cold and tasteless and the customer service was appalling when a complaint was made. Not worth our money.

Authentic Thai. My wife and I both had take away from this restaurant tonight - we were the only ones to enter and exit for the whole time we were there - so it certainly wasn't busy!

I ordered a Green Curry Chicken and my wife ordered the Satay Squid. The chicken reminded me of actually having the same dish in Phuket, Thailand which is a real plus! However the quid was rather chewy and since I'm guessing not traditionally Thai (more Malaysian) it wouldn't be their best dish.

Overall, we were happy.
