Favourite place! Lovely staff and amazing food!
Of course I love this place, real food here, no plastic fantastic.
So happy with our choice to come here this morning. The lady with short hair who looked after us in the front room was welcoming and looked after our family, and was even very forgiving of the mess my small kids made! Great food, relaxed atmosphere and best of all we weren't rushed through on a busy Sunday. Thanks, we'll be back (and we aren't local or wearing north face puffer vests)
Best breaky in and around the southern suburbs !!
Amazing food, nice mood, smiles everywhere
Today I had the
Best Lunch
Amazing Corn Fritters
Thank you
Lorraine from Moonee Ponds
Love this place. Yummiest brekkies and great service!
I love the service, the food, the coffee and everything else! I just bought take-home food and highly recommend. Their daughter is so cute and they are an amazing small business especially at this time of year with COVT-19. I bought a coffee, two take-home meals, three soups and a milkshake and do not regret anything at all. Please come and support this beautiful cafe!
Thanks
We were welcomed by friendly staff and offered menus and water immediately we were seated. We ordered coffee which was very good and hot. I chose a special which was soft polenta accompanied by fresh crunchy asparagus and a soft poached egg. My companion order the hummingbird cake to have with coffee. A good experience. Will return.
Super good sandwiches. Ok coffee and a crowdy place. Itās a popular place in the locality. There are many house made foods to buy off this place. Their kids menu is worth suggesting.
Kev,
Tex Mex Beans simply look nothing at all like baked beans. In that context, I think the visual appearance of breakfast dishes is quite important.
Cheers, Michael
The staff are super friendly, the hot chocolates are gorgeous and the eggs on toast never fail to impress! This local cafe has the perfect classic meal for everyone, and is great to go to after a walk in the park.
The giant is awake .....
This is Melbourne, East Malvern, quiet sleepy suburbia, wintry weather, big park, activities but nothing much open on the weekends ..... well that was the late 80's when we were living there.
These days, there is a few cafe around to cater for your weekend coffee and brunches, this establishment is probably one of the premier destination judging by the crowd in the morning.
It's perfectly located, on the main road, near the junction, just across the Central Park.
Renovated older building, homely setup, two storey dining area plus the back and front footpath.
Serious coffee set up, Synesso and Proud Mary coffee beans combo.
Brunch Menu is solid too, enjoyed my Corn Fritters so did the rest of our group.
Enjoyable Sunday brunch, even better now the giant is awake.
Great family atmosphere. Proud Mary coffee. Corn fritters and tex mex jaffle were delicious. Owner is very friendly. If you sit upstairs however be prepared to wait a bit longer for coffee/ service. Courtyard out back and colouring paper and pencils for little ones.
My wife and I frequent this amazing cafĆØ more times than i would like to admit. (3 times a week at a bare minimum)
It never dissapoints,
The Egyptian Eggs is our favorite dish and has quickly become the perfect breakfast.
Highly reccommend
Our review of our kitchen table is not of the main menu because we haven't had the chance to try it yet, although we've been here twice, on both occasions it was too late in the day and the kitchen had just closed!
The coffee was perfect though and they have a great selection of sweet things to eat, which were delicious.
The service was great, really friendly staff.
Heaps of seating both indoor and outdoor (there is a great courtyard out the back).
We will be back to try the menu and will provide an updated review! For now, give it a go, it's looking great so far!
Ok so I have already reviewed this cafe a few months ago but I am amending my review. I went 2 weekends ago and wow there have been some awesome changes. Most importantly coffee is now GREAT. Previously it was average so I think machine/beans have changed for the way better! Also the menu has changed including some supercool new items: tex mex bean jaffles with avo salsa and sour cream anyone?! Yes please yummo! AND all the tasty favourites still there ie ricotta hotcakes (phew) and date scones (double phew)! The cafe is still cute with a teacup chandelier and cute fresh flowers on the tables. There is also a nice courtyard for dog lovers with access at the back of the cafe. There is also the usual display of lots of homemade yummy cakes, slices and other sweet treats at the counter (did I already mention those date scones? ). And bonus they have take home meals in the freezer. āļø
Central Park is just across the road convenient for dog walkers and romantic post brunch strolls.
definitely worth a visit. LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

Too inconsistent to have become a regular even though I live in the area.
Average coffee, food and service. There are better cafes around on Waverley rd.
This cafe is a gem. The staff and owners are friendly, efficient and professional. The menu is varied and delicious and the coffee is consistently great. I always feel welcomed here, whether I have kids, friends or just the dog with me. It is a warm and inviting place to hide from the world for a while.
Superb coffee. Great eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms etc. But they should learn that grilled spinach needs to be dished up with cut lemon pieces. Used to be our favourite place for breakfast, but some recent meals of cauliflower fritters and sweet corn fritters have disappointed. Inclined to be noisy too.
Okt. Come here way too often, love the coffee, love the service
I came in on a weekday at about 12noon wanting breakfast - the breakfast menu finishes at 11:30 but they still let me order from the breakfast menu (thank you so much). I had the corn fritters and they were one of the best I've had in a long time. Service was lovely and the place has a great feel. Will be back again soon :)
Expensive Delicious Habit.

My lovely friend S took me out for brunch to kick off the day.Ā We went to Our Kitchen Table, where S actually had her 21st two years ago. The food and service was amazing, so I was keen to see what it would be like for brunch, rather than a private function. I had seen mixed reviews on urbanspoon (which I can never type correctly), with a few complaints about service or the taste of the food. However, I can report that we had no such complaints. We were greeted immediately and shown to a table in the corner, perfect for a long catchup away from all the mothers and children and prams.Ā Menus were provided promptly and coffee orders taken. The girl did walk away as I was giving her my coffee order which bordered on slightly rude, but the coffee came out as requested which make it ok. Both our coffees we
Great place for lunch. Have been there on two occasions in a week and a half and both times I have been amazed. The service is excellent, menu great and a very reasonable price.
Kevin's a nice guy. A great all round breakfast experience. Thank you
Creative menu, coffee needs work.. A little more experimental and creative than the standard ātoast or muesli or eggs benedict or big brekkieā that most places serve.
You pay a fraction more, but Iāve been happy with all meals Iāve had here.
Service is fine although a few need to smile a bit more.
Some constructive criticism - invest in a milk thermometer. Coffees I've ordered here are always warm, but never quite hot (And I refuse to order āA hot coffeeā since this invariably leads to burnt milk)
Milk should be steamed/frothed to 65degrees.
Great local cafe, staff are really helpful and friendly and the food was great. The gluten free pumpkin and chickpea fritters were so yummy :)
3rd time here and service is fantastic each time , love the hot cakes!!!!!
Great food, lovely staff and a warm friendly environment. I have eaten here many times, but had the tastiest baked bean abd ham hock jaffel with an egg on top - it was excellent and I will definitely be going back for another one soon... Kxx
The best breakfast!. A great little favourite, especially for breakfast or brunch. We always sit out in the courtyard & they are very pet friendly and it's always great service, you really do feel like you're being treated to their homemade "kitchen table" delishiousness. We make this our Mother's & Father's Day & birthday breakfast spot. And I really don't think they're overly expensive, just what you'd expect to pay in Melbourne, & it's worth it!
Great service and you can always get a table in this place. Fresh ingredients and seasonal menu. Having tasty salmon today ...
Great food, great coffee, food was a bit pricey but very tasty and I'm happy to pay a little bit extra for service with a smile. Will be back again soon.
Consistently one of the best breakfasts in Melbourne and breakfast is the meal I eat out most often. However, it is also one of the more expensive breakfasts too. All elements are good quality and tasty and poached eggs consistently poached well (I come here a lot and only a few not right). Coffee is good but nothing amazing. Amazing is the cafe a few doors down (away from the intersection) that has some if the best coffee in Melb. Alas, their breakfast is worse than I can do at home (although their bread is some of the best I've ever had. Consider picking up a loaf & take away coffee after your breakfast at kitchen table.
Anyway, the big breakfast is great (both veggie & regular), omlettes tasty and corn fritter dish awesome.
The only negative other than expensive is how they leave some cakes, desserts out in the open where I'm sure they get bumped by handbags, bums, touched by kids hands and worse sneezed on. I'd never buy a cake or slice or pastry here unless I knew it was behind the counter.
Great coffee, turkish bread and brownies! Yum!
We stayed 5 minutes after closing and got a strawberry milk shake. Yum it was so lovely and smooth.
I really think people have no understanding about resturants oh they see master chef and think it's all that. Come and do a day with me in a 100 seat resturant just one day in that kitchen you would have some respect.
I still think you guys are doing a lovely job keep up the great service. And food of course.

WAY OVER PRICED. who charges $4 for HOLLANDAISE. what a bloody joke
And $19.50 for a omelette it's only got 3-4 eggs costing 28 cents each for free range. What a rip off. And just to top it all off $7.50 for toast lol I could by a loaf for THAT.
Delightful. I really enjoyed my first visit here! The place has so much charm, character and culture. My coffee was amazing as was the service from some really friendly, helpful staff. It was very busy and therefore noisy, crowded and stifling, but i dont blame them! The food they served up was superb. Relatively small portions on some of the meals considering the prices, but I dont blame them. The quality, preparation and cooking was excellent, and their rent must be obscene. Their cake display was gorgeous and i loved the decor and crockery. Definitely will be going back!
Lovely & very (baby) friendly. Miss X and I met a couple of friends here for brunch late Saturday morning. On seeing how busy it was, I was a little worried about wheeling in the pram, but I was helped in the door and then when offered a high chair, had the lovely gentleman offer to put the folded pram upstairs for me.
My potato pancake was tasty, as was by all accounts the other meals ordered and the coffees perfect.
Amazing food, coffee and cakes. Great service, highly recommended!!! Kev and nat have done a fabulous job of this establishment :)
Great catering. Nat and Kev at Our KitchenTable were recommended to me to cater a private party for 60 people. We only gave 4 days notice as our initial approach to a larger caterer proved to be above budget. Not only did Kevin help us at the last minute, he (and team) provided beautiful food and made the evening very easy to manage.
They provided lovely canapƩs to start and then a full grazing supper. The menu included:
- Chicken tagine with couscous
-Whole baked atlantic salmon topped with a persian walnut and coriander salad / tahini yoghurt
-Fetta and oregano stuffed boneless leg of lamb with lemon
-Parsley pesto, roasted pumpkin and baby beans with green olives.
-Chermoula roasted vegetable salad with cinnamon yoghurt dressing.
He also provided full instructions and extra plates and equipment.
All guests enjoyed a generous supper and were all raving about the food. The couple who hosted the party were also extremely happy and enjoyed their first full catered event. I would highly recommend Kevin and the team if you are looking for honest, delicious food to be served at your next private event.
Worth a look!. I have been here many times and it's slowly turning into one of my favorites. The service is efficient and friendly however I have found the breakfast can often be inconsistent as I usually order the same thing. Yes is can be overpriced and noisy but it still worth going to as long as you get to sit downstairs (but not down the side of the counter) The breakfasts are lovely and the chef seems to always use good quality really fresh produce.
Always good. The negative reviews surprise as I have never had an issue with this place. Breakfast and lunch both good & the coffee is fine.
Have going to this place for year for Saturday breakfast. Food is alway of a high standard & well prepared. Staff are attentive & the coffee is always good. Try the potato pancake you won't be disappointed. PB
Love Our Kitchen Table. The lunch menu kicks arse and changes everyday. Always something delicious to try! Service is a bit slow at times but the food is awesome. Try the chicken pie!
My first visit to this beautiful cafe. The coffee was good, the staff were lovely, and the homemade cakes looked so yummy I wanted to try them all.. But settled on the gluten free chocolate! (I highly recommend it). I'm definitely going back soon for brekkie!
The best scrambled eggs in Melbourne. We really miss our breakfasts @ Our Kitchen Table. The scrambled eggs with bacon are probably the best we've eaten... so nice! Good bacon, good coffee... I just wish they had more newspapers!
Good good.. The cafe is super cute - love their vintage saucers and cake plates and they always have cheerful flowers on each table. The lunch main meals can be a wee bit expensive/small-for-the-price so I usually get soup or a focaccia because they're consistently great.
The giant lamingtons are delicious (real jam!) It can take a little while to become a 'regular' there but when you do the staff are really attentive and friendly. It gets really busy/noisy during school pick-up time and school holidays - watch out.
Brekky. I have eaten breakfast here many times an love the poached eggs, tomatoes & hash browns. I have had the hotcakes, salmon and caesar for lunch and never been disappointed. They use free range eggs (why any cafe wouldn't use free range astounds me & I would refuse to eat somewhere that didn't). Only complaint would be little over priced, but always found service good, coffee excellent (and I am very fussy) and service fine. The other cafes on strip don't use free range so haven't tried them and never will!
We had a lovely breakfast here on a busy Saturday morning. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked and the service was efficient.
Try doing it yourself. To all the naysayers of this (imo) faultless cafe - take a look at yourself in the mirror and try serving you with a smile on your face. Our Kitchen Table is perfect for those who appreciate good service, food and prices - keep it up - i'll be back.
Drive past and this place always looks busy, so finally dropped in. Great coffee, the place has a nice feel to it, staff were friendly and attentive. Had a slice from one of their delicious homemade cakes, overall a pleasant experience. No newspapers though?
Best cafe in the area!. A perfect weekend breakfast (we have breakfast here most weekends!) fast and friendly service, great coffee and yummy cakes. Lovely courtyard which is baby (and pram) friendly. Perhaps a little more expensive than the other two cafes in the strip but definitely worth it!
It's a rippa! Weekend breaky is a highlight. Great produce, great meals, great coffee, great staff.
Nostalgic trip with a good cup. My first trip to OKT was this week, and I went with my husband to sample their brew. Overall it was a pretty decent cup, served in an old style broad flowery teacup, the kind my Grandmother used to have zillions of in the back of her cupboard. Beans not too bitter (Atomica I think), and decent milk texture, would give the cup a 4/5 and will return for more.
Ambience was lovely, but not so sure if guys would like it as it feels like a girly hangout with the general hubub of women chattering, and my hubby was only one of two guys there. They have a fabulous chandelier/lampshade made of aforementioned old lady tea cups, jars of nasturtiums on the tables, and a warm cosy light palette throughout the decor.
I had an instant hit of nostalgia with those flowers - I suspect every kid born in the 70's grew up with those in the garden - plus they had a plate of honey jumbles, which took me straight back to my Women's Weekly Cookbook. We didn't sample the nibbles, but they looked delicious.
The only drawback is that space is tight, tables probably a bit too big for the space which would be tricky for mums with prams I would imagine, but once you are in your seat, the cosy feeling compensates. Courtyard out the back will be good if the rain & cold decides to let up.
This is just a delightful place to stop off and have a break. I have always found the staff very friendly and the food delicious. Coffee is excellent, scrambled eggs when you've forgotten to have brecky is a treat and lunch - haven't been there for lunch recently - better return. Usually busy and often a number of hard to please customers about... !
Cheery Comfort at it's best!. I'm a regular at Our Kitchen Table, the girls out the front are always lovely and always busy, they make incredible coffee. (and i'm very picky) My eggs are poached to perfection and my crunchy sourdough is beginning to get addictive. If it's busy, it is worth the wait. My husband had his first Orange and Date scone on Wednesday and is now a firm fan. Try a breakfast and a coffee, you will not be dissapointed.
One of the best places for breakfast in malvern. Try the baked eggs or their anchovy sauce. Love it
Had a quick lunch with my partner there and it was brilliantly delicious š
I had the baked eggs and the egg yolks were quick runny, but I love it this way! Partner had chicken sandwich and he enjoyed the filling (rich amount of chicken and some avocados). Thereās some salad on the plate too.
The bread provided was soft inside and crunchy outside, very yummy! Really hope I could have more time spent there next time!
Had a delicious brunch here. It was savoury french toast with cheese and egg and something else. I love french toast but it is usually sweet in cafes so less appealing. Very good coffee too. Vegan options for my mate were limited.
Nice dog friendly cafe (either out front or if you go through to the courtyard at the rear)!
One of my favourites cafes in the area. :) Friendly staff, great coffee and the OKT Summer Granola is a feast for the senses.
I was warmly welcomed at Our Kitchen Table the first time I went. The food and coffee were excellent and itās a brilliant spot. I was out house hunting at the time and Iām delighted that itās close to where Iāll be living. Highly recommend!
I am a regular customer. Love the place.
As usual, food and coffee was lovely, really nice ambience, great quick service. This time around we tried the shakshuka baked eggs and zucchini fritters. Both were delicious. Also in the pic is chai latte with honey on the side.
Believe me, you cant go wrong with these guys.
came into our kitchen table the other day and this girl krista made me the best oreo milkshake of my life, perfect icecream- milk- oreo ratio it was so thick and delicious 11/10 i will be coming back for kristas milkshakes
