Review Theio Theo - Malvern

A last minute booking. First time here, wow! We went the 4 course mixed meats and dips option, bloody amazing! It was sadly a quiet night, post covid, but this place is superb. Staff were excellent, offered menu suggestions, were friendly and welcoming. The food was sensational, lots of it (two of us finished it though!), tasty, well presented and was well priced. I'll be back for sure, highly recommended and even the bathrooms were immaculate! Love it and happy to support great retail places like this. Well done guys!

We had dinner here last night & it was delicious! Lovely service from Rose & the food was awesome…the gyros lamb & chicken were so tasty & tender. Yummy dips & bread, followed by divine traditional Greek desserts. We’ll definitely be back :)

WOW, my wife and I loved this restaurant, great waiter I can't recall his name. Food was so great, we have never tasted chicken like this. The lamb was the best we have ever tasted. We will definitely be going back there.

One of the best Greek restaurant I have ever been to. And the service and staff are just so nice and polite. Definitely recommend everyone to come here once. I will definitely be coming here again.

This tavern was fantastic. It has a gorgeous authentic Greek tavern atmosphere, as it should. You feel like you’re dining in a cute little restaurant on one of the Greek islands. The ambience is great. The setup is quite roomy and seats people comfortably instead of being packed in like other restaurants. The staff were so welcoming, friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious. Every single thing was fresh and cooked to perfection. We ordered the $55.00 per head, 4-course set menu. There was so much food! The highlights for me were the first course of fresh breads, dips, saganaki, dolmades and whitebait fish, all of which were excellent. The second course was a beautiful seafood platter of prawns, fish and calamari paired with a crisp Greek (horiatiki) salad. The third course was a meat platter. The meats were delightfully crispy with charcoal on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside, paired with a lovely tourlou (mix of potatoes, green beans, carrots and zucchini in a tomato-based sauce). Yum! And finally, for dessert we had lovely mini servings of baklava and galaktoboureko with Greek coffee. Everything was delicious. Florina’s is probably the best Greek tavern I’ve ever been to.

Great food and great atmosphere. They always make us feel like “home” and the food is always tasty and good! This is one of our favourite restaurants in Melbourne.

They served me the best tasting Chicken meat I have had in my life! Very generous serving of meals, cosy and homey restaurant environment, and hospitable staff. Very well done!

Great food ,great service. Definitely will go back again. Just wondering for BYO wine how much do you charge for corkage? Cause I’ve been there for dinner on Friday, didn’t check the bill , on the way back, I noticed that I paid a lot more than the food price. I don’t think I’ve been over charged, probably the corkage?By the way, if I buy the wine from your restaurant do you still charge corkage?

Earlier this week my family and I took a quick trip to Greece haha. Seriously though, as soon as you enter Theio Theo in Malvern East, you are teleported to the otherside of the world. We chose the set menu, which was $60pp and WOW!!! Everything was freshly made, marinated in flavour, chargrilled to perfection and perfect for any first timers wanting to experience true greek style cuisine. Applause to the chef, but also the owner for creating such an authentic restaurant that captures the beauty of Greek food. The deep blue painted walls, with the white table setting allowed the warmth needed when devouring into the incredible feast.

Honestly, HATS OFF to this place! A 5/5 does not do a justice. It is INCREDIBLE! Never have I had such a beautiful banquet where absolutely everything brought out was perfection. From the warm home-made bread and dips to the perfectly cooked prawns to the desert platter. If you ever go here (and I think you MUST), definitely do the banquet. It is $60 per head and seafood is included. My family and I are big eaters and we couldn't finish it. By far the best banquet I've had for both quality and value for money. The seafood was divine and you could tell it was fresh and chosen/cooked with care and love. Theo and his staff are beautifully warm and helpful. They really do go above and beyond for their customers. I really do wish I could give a rating higher than 5. Can't wait to return. Efcharisto!

The owner is Lovely and welcoming . He is a great host & the restaraunt has a nice vibe esp for team dinners and large groups.
The lamb cutlets were done very well as well as the rissoles however the seafood options were limited as it was out of stock
The octopus we had was overdone and charred burnt taste which made it bitter
The halloumi was OK.
Extensive menu but I don’t think it is as good as the Greek places in Oakleigh.

Authentic Greek cuisine in an warm, friendly and modern environment. Theo greets all customers with a friendly smile welcoming them to his family run business.

All dishes are tasty and evidently all made daily in house with fresh produce.

The home made dips and complementary bread is a nice start to the meal. For seafood dishes the octopus and scolops are a must try, along with the fresh blue eye fillets and grilled calamari.

House cut fresh potato chips are just like mamma would make, delicious.

The meat is always tender, juicey and full of flavour. I recommend the chops with a side of yelva salad.

Don't for get galaktobouriko for dessert, which has the yummiest custard filling.

A beautiful dinning experience.

I dined here after my nieces baptism and had the feast of my life ( 5 hours long) . The service was great although a bit slow ( they were cooking for the whole restaurant) and food was of great quality. We started the meal with dips , they were so delicious and rookie mistake number one was carb loading on the bread .

We then shared saganaki , zucchini chips and cheese stuffed filo pastries. The filo pastries were some of the best Ive ever had, by this time I was already full and it was just entrees

For seafood we are prawns, calamari and a white fish that was just baked. The prawns were juicy and fresh and the fish was just simple with salt and pepper + lemon. The let down was the calamari which was unfortunately rubbery

Moving on we got the meat platter or lamb chops, sausages, souvlaki meat, grilled chicken skewers and patties served with lemon potatoes . The potatos were too salty for my liking but the meat was all so tasty ! My favourite was the lamb chops and then the meat patties, they were so flavoursome I had to take some home

For dessert we then got treated to this semolina cake, the baptism cake , baklava and this amazing custard . The custard was my dessert of choice , it was so creamy – would definitely come back for this !

Went with a group of 9 people and had the banquet menu, great Greek food and the service was just as good! Highly recommend it for anyone that wants a good Greek feast!

We enjoyed the set menu with some alterations. Overall, the food was good, but I would advise the selection of individual dishes or seafood/meat platters. The dips served with warm bread were very good - tarama, hommus, tsatziki, eggplant. Zucchini chips and chargrilled vegetables were great - vegetables glazed in balsamic and fig infusion, definitely order with meat dishes. The seafood component consisted of blue eye which was great and would be ordered separately in future; calamari was okay, certainly nothing special, would advise trying chargrilled than fried. Prawns were good as one should expect; next time would order scallops which come with the seafood platter. The meat platter didn’t wow me; with the exception of the lamb cutlets, once again order separately. The gyros was so so, needs more seasoning; ie. oregano, salt; the spicy sausage I thought was disappointing, not worth ordering in future. The desserts provided were good, certainly good for a sweetooth, perhaps a little overpowering for those who don’t like things overly sweet. The service was attentive and of a good standard, would recommend this restaurant but don’t opt for set menu, order separate dishes or a seafood platter with chargrilled calamari.

Time to try the new kid on the Greek scene.

We ordered a number of dishes including the standard fair.

The servings were on the small side, the highlight was the scallops after our third plate we tried the baked lamb - very nice a bit oily but still it hit the spot.

Desert was on the house, hmmmm nothing special.

Overall a pleasant experience an extra waiter wouldn’t go astray. We did have to wait at times for service.

Price wise a bit on the expensive side for the 5 of us bill was over $500. Considering we only ordered share plates..... I think that’s expensive..

Toodles

We came here for dinner back in August with a group of 14 and we had the $60 set menu. Every dish we got was magnificent. Everyone enjoyed the service and the food. This was our first visit here and will definitely come back. Staff were very helpful and cheerful. Great place to visit. I highly recommend this place.
