Review Cucina Di Gio' - Malvern

On Friday evening myself, my sister and a friend enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Cucina Di Gio - from booking the reservation to eating in this very traditional Italian restaurant, everything was perfect. We started with sharing Mushroom Bruschetta, followed by an antipasto platter, we each chose different mains, all were delicious and importantly very traditional. Dessert was decadent... The owner Giovanni "Joe" was welcoming and very helpful even offering to decant a special wine we brought with us. I will have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant. For me the experience was like entering a little piece of Italy...

Every time I visit my home town of Melbourne from Sydney, I always head here to catch up with school friends and family. Such amazing food, wonderful service and you can even bring your special celebratory bottle of vino as its BYO although there is a wonderful selection of wines readily available. Another memorable night last night - can’t wait to be back! Thank you!

Booked last minute with some friends and it did not disappoint. The restaurant has a traditional Italian feel, the food was delicious and the staff were wonderful. Would highly recommend.

Such delicious and fresh pasta!! Highly recommend! I’ve also purchased a number of their bottled sauces to have at home with my family. I can’t wait to go back again this week for dinner and to get more sauces.

For all the Italian bravado, the food was lazy, sloppy and disappointing. The presentation of the food was as an insult to the Italian culture. Even given a large allowance for staff availability, any self respecting resteranter would be ashamed of this fare.

Best Italian food I've ever had - full of authentic flavour and everything is fresh and hand-made. Finally a place that does food properly for a reasonable price. Cosy atmosphere with excellent service - good place to enjoy good food with good company. I can't wait to go back again and try more dishes!

Very much a neighbourhood resto and nearby parking ok. We visited Saturday night and clientele mostly older people, many of Italian descent. Limited menu. I had veal with mushrooms - excellent. My partner fettuccine. Not so good as too much tomato paste. Sautéed vegetables excellent. Staff very friendly. Reasonable choice of wines by the glass - also BYO and pricing ok. How good is all that!

Cucina Di Gio is everything an authentic neighbourhood restaurant should be. The food was delicious- so fresh and very generous servings. The menu is written on a blackboard, and the friendly staff are more than happy to translate anything that you don’t understand. Owner Giovanni greets guests at the door and makes you feel welcomed immediately. This is a really great spot for anyone looking to try Italian food at its finest.

My wife and I visited this lovely little Italian restaurant on a Saturday night. We were a party of three couples and we all very much enjoyed the food. We will return.

Tried this new Malvern restaurant without a reservation. The gnocchi with mushroom was incredible and the tagliatelle bolognese was also outstanding. We also sampled the panna cotta with blueberry sauce which was also marvellous. Give this place a try, it feels authentic and the food was brilliant. It doesn’t hurst that the staff are a bit on the cute and friendly side. Enjoy!!!

I would not recommend this place as I ordered a take away seafood risotto tonight and payed $29.50 only to find it consisted of 2 tablespoons of rice,a prawn and a few calamari. This would not even do as an entree. I couldn't believe it. Avoid this restaurant.
