Great food. Had veggie dumpling , spring rolls, roti and peanut sauce and for main we had the chef special crispy chicken.
Friendly staff.
Decor was nice. It was a Friday night and not very busy.
i have visited this place for lunch during the workday. Staff is very friendly. ordered pad kee mao (hot) with chicken. should say the noodle taste amazing. probably one of the best thai i have tried in melbourne. totally beat other thai restaurants in the CBD. recommended.
Amazing!!! Beautiful Thai food. Everything tastes so healthy and fresh! Not greasy at all. The service is amazing too and you are made to feel like one of the family. Cannot recommend this place enough.
Got there by chance. Even though not busy place at lunch. But good service and really nice food. It will be one of my favorite place
Clean and fresh Pad Thai.. I wouldn't say it was overly authentic but it was a tasty and quick meal at this local.
Stonnington's best?. There seems to be an abundance of Thai in the Stonnington area, but About Thai outshine them all. You won't find a friendlier experience and the food is always fantastically fresh and well priced.
Very authentic flavours however main portion were a bit stingy .
Great chicken wings!. Been eating here for lunch a bit lately and it is a great option. Small restaurant but not cramped. Everything I've had has been good, Pad Thai, Massaman, stir fries etc.
Could be a good option for a quick affordable evening meal - not sure if it gets busy.
With so much average fare in Glenferrie Road, I really hope this place can keep hanging in there.
Lovely little place, tasty food and adequate service. However the bathroom facility is a big let down.
Best. Thai. Ever! Such an unexpected gem in Malvern. Friendly staff and amazing food. The massaman beef curry is to die for! As is the cashew chicken!!
So many Thai places in Malvern! This is easily the best. Having been burned by so many mediocre-to-terrible Thai restaurants in the Armadale/Malvern area, I took a chance with this new kid on the block.
Great service, very cheap menu items, generous portion, fresh ingredients. Look forward to trying more on the menu, was recommended the chili basil and beef stir fry and it was delicious. $2.50 for a large piece of roti and satay dip, easy dinner sorted!
This place has just opened an is incredible! At last, delicious Thai food cooked with heart in Melbourne and its right here in Malvern! And it's such good value. We have been twice this week. Best kept secret in Malvern!
The winglets are awesome. The mains are authentic and are made from fresh ingredients, not out of a can or jar. the prices are very reasonable. In fact I would suggest they should be higher for the quality. Serving sizes are perfect. Highly recommend.
Well above the average Thai.. I decided to try a new addition to the eastern suburbs Thai restaurant scene, specifically, Malvern’s “About Thai”, and I was glad I did. It’s located on Wattletree Road, just a few doors off the main drag of Glenferrie Road, and to my mind, definitely worth turning the corner for.
It’s a casual, intimate space with a fresh and cheery ambiance. The staff were friendly & attentive, and service was surprisingly prompt.
The menu showed the usual Thai dishes that we’ve all come to know and love, together with a range of unexpected dishes put together by a creative kitchen staff. I usually start a Thai meal with an entrée of pork or prawn spring rolls but decided to give the Spinach Rolls a try and they were spectacular. They are made with onion, mushroom and mozzarella cheese and come with a plum sauce. Our second entrée was the Massaman Taco, an unusual combination which again, worked surprisingly well. The manager informed us that all their dishes are freshly prepared on the premises. Unlike too many restaurants around town, they don’t serve up the usual mass-produced frozen spring rolls.
Our main courses were the old faithful Pad Thai ($12) and the Chef’s Special Green Curry Fried Rice with Seafood ($18). The Pad Thai was as good as we’ve had anywhere but the Seafood Curried Rice was particularly enjoyable. For the quality of the food and the generous size of the portions, the prices are remarkably reasonable.
These restauranteurs are clearly trying to provide something more than your average Thai fare and I think they are well on their way. It’s not unusual for new restaurants to display some teething problems in their first few weeks, but there was no evidence of that here.
As Arnie said, “I’ll be back”.
