Review One Misty Guy - Malvern

Nikolai Artemev
Absolutely loved this place. Friendly service and a relaxing experience. Even the bathroom is so peaceful. Coffee is excellent, the best latte so far. Enjoyed my brunch. Toasts were a little over done but avocado and beets made it smooth. Price is quite expensive. If they could serve combos as coffee + eggs, toasts & some sides for student price special or as a student happy hour then i wouldn’t mind to be locked up here. They should collaborate with Monash student clubs since its so close and I would tell all my Monash friends. Good luck to this place.

Lovely undercover area out the back. Great for groups but best to book on a nice day. Fresh salads and juices. Decent spaghetti bolognese. Staff are friendly and nice. Split bill is available on request. Great!

A very nice place for brunch or lunch with a spacious dining area both indoor and outdoor. A friendly staffs and good taste of meal and coffee.

The breakfast tacos are 10/10 I would travel to have these again. I did ask for my coffee extra hot but come out normal temp but still nice coffee.

A great licensed cafe just opposite Monash Caulfield campus, with excellent coffee and good food. The ambiance is also great and the staff is super friendly and provides a good service. On a nice day sitting out front or in the courtyard area is just perfect.

A great hidden gem! Quiet and unassuming, the venue opened up into a gorgeous courtyard. It wasn’t super busy so we were able to actually talk and relax! The menu had a broad range of options which all sounded good, we had the veg gnocchi and the chicken poke bowl and both were very nice. Friendly service and very reasonable prices! Would definitely recommend 😊

A nice cosy atmosphere. Food was delicious, especially the calamari starter and the cauliflower pizza! We had a group booking and were seated in the courtyard through to the back which was perfect. Not noisy so we were able to hold a conversation without yelling, yet busy enough that it was comfortable for times when there was a lull in conversation. Our waiters were attentive and friendly. We had a couple of dietary requirements which were able to be catered for. Great place!

Enjoyable Sunday breakfast place! Children loved the pancakes and adults enjoyed their food too. The milkshakes, iced coffee and coffees were excellent! Friendly service and attractive environment. Will return.

Jansen's coffee is the best in Melbourne! Delicious food, for adults and kids. Loved the decor, the courtyard is perfect and the little touches (like colouring for the kids) makes OMG our go to place for breakfast and lunch. Can't wait to try the wine and tapas next week. Well done team!

Great little place for a coffee or food, always quality, chill vibe and friendly staff.

Our Friday night regular for a kid friendly early dinner and a much needed glass of red for mum and dad to close out the week. Grandma often joins for a glass of Savie B that is her new fave. Fabulous food. Fabulous wine. Thanks Kirstie and team for a great end to our weeks and a great start to our weekends. All within walking distance of home. Yay!!

What a gem of a place. Great pizza and awesome staff. Did i mention that they also serve alcohol.....10 out of 10. My new fav.

Absolutely loved it. Service immaculate (Cindy) attention to detail has her eye on everything! We live locally & thought it was an interesting cafe but soon realized it was so much more than expected. Dinner, great wine choice and Spanish Tapas atmosphere. We ordered calamari tapas &' Luigie' pizza with pear salad delicious & effortless (arrived 10min after ordering) Finally tempted by Cindy's recommendation we shared a sticky date pudding. Wow. We don't eat deserts often but this was to die for!! Highly recommended. Thanks Kristy for our last minute booking and friendly welcome. Local perfection! We'll be back. Thank you.

Awesome! Food fantastic. Great coffee. Staff are lovely and always helpful. Front and back area great for functions. Had my birthday party there recently and couldn't have had a better night. Thanks OMG!

I'm a regular at Spilt Milk (same owners) so, being an East Malvern resident, I had to try this place out. It's awesome! Love the atmosphere, the food, the coffee and the service is always fantastic.

Love this place! Such friendly staff, great coffee, great atmosphere. Can't wait to try it out at night time now and have some tapas and wine!

Great place for thurs nite drink and dinner in the courtyard

Fantastic. Coffee way better than your average cafe, really friendly staff, and the best lamington I've ever had. I will definitely be coming back.
Kerrie Mould
Went for coffee which was one of the best coffees I've had. Then ordered scones, they came out with a very generous serve of jam and cream, freshly baked and beautiful. Staff were very friendly. I will definitely be going back

Thanks not only for providing a voucher to Glen Huntly Primary School for its silent auction, but also honouring it when it was presented a day after expiry. Delicious breakfast and coffee.

Located right behind my house 🏡 in my student days back in 2016 / 2017, I would occasionally pop in for a takeaway coffee ☕️

I really like their backyard seating, definately one of my fav study spots - if I’m in the mood to study in a cafe 📖 Naturally lighting, bright, spacious, never too busy 👍🏻

A ripper of a cafe/ restaurant in Malvern East, OMG serves up delicious food with fabulous service. A large space with a very nice feel about it, I always feel comfortable dining here. The staff are always so nice and friendly, and nothing is too much trouble.

The menu has many cafe classics, but they are all delicious and fresh. The cakes and pastries are also really good, and most importantly, the coffee is excellent. A great little venue for a yummy brunch, I left very satisfied.

Love the atmosphere - so cosy inside and staff are always really welcoming! Great brunch menu - the baked caramel apple porridge is perfect for winter brekkie 💛
Hello. Imnikki
Wanting to brunch at the vicinity of Caulfield, my friend typed in "brunch Caulfield" and weirdly, OMG popped up. I tried searching the same phrase but the results were different for me. In any event, this was how we ended up at OMG.

We were shown to the back courtyard, and our drink orders taken down promptly. My partner's skinny latte was a pleasure to drink - strong, and full-bodied. The Hola smoothie that I had was decent; it would have greatly benefited from another shot of espresso as I could barely taste the espresso over the almond milk. Cappuccino was reported to be great, and so was the Chimpanzee smoothie.

I usually don't go for veggie burgers, but the Herbivore Burger caught my eye with its beetroot bun and beetroot hummus. It was a great choice, as the burger was delicious. The falafel patty was well seasoned and very crunchy, and the sweet earthy flavour of the beetroot hummus not only brought out the subtle flavours of the falafel, but also matched very well with the basil pesto and miso glazed pumpkin.

My partner's Brekkie Taco packed a flavour punch, and the creamy and tangy feta contrasted beautifully with the refreshing bright taste from the coriander.

The Beef Banger Burger (with gluten free bread in the place of a bun) was devoured in record time, which I can only assume was either a sign that it was delicious, or that my friend was starving. Could be both, I didn't bother to ask as I was barely 1/3 through my meal. The Paleo Goodness Bowl was very lightly seasoned and was a bit too healthy for me, but each to their own right? My friend did however commented on the well-doneness of the poached egg, which while unfavourable, it wasn't a deal breaker for her.

Everyone agreed that the chips were the best. Fresh out of the fryer, it was hot and crispy and all sorts of amazing.

An enjoyable spot for lunch, especially if sitting out in the courtyard. The contrast between the wooden wall panels and the slate tables, coupled with the bamboo plants made for a serene yet polished setting. Very Zen-like!
I went to OMG over the weekend with my partner. Our host, Tom, had a good sense of humour and was very familiar with the menu and was able to answer any questions we had. I had the eggs Benedict with a side of mushrooms and my partner had the avo toast. Both were well presented. We liked that the cafe wasn’t trying to be too over the top which was a refreshing change! Will be back !

It’s all about being hippy and the food is real expensive for the tiny portion that you are getting. Nice outdoor sitting area though. Location is not close to anywhere

A great and varied menu selection for vegetarians and they’re more than happy to make amendments. Food was delicious, in particular the Jimmy pizza, zucchini and corn fritters and the fries. Very reasonably priced. Plenty of seating options too- stools, bar seats, benches, inside or outside. Staff were friendly and efficient. I can’t wait to return!

Weekend hot spot for a great Sunday breakfast, friendly staff great food and coffee hits the spot everytime. No complaints besides the distance from home but no issues at all
Alex
Great spot just across the road from uni with constantly great coffee! Came for brunch one morning just for something different and had the breakfast board and was very delighted with what I received. Amazing eggs, huge serving of smashed avocado, perfect bacon and great presentation. Definitely worth a visit!

This is my frequent catch-up spot as it's nice and close to uni. Great coffee and milkshakes and a beautiful backyard atmosphere in their outdoor seating area. A great place to share a bowl of fries with a friend.

Busy Saturday morn, greeted by a clearly grumpy waitress. Asked if they had fresh orange juice as it wasn't on the menu, was told yes. Ordered x2 OJs & then watched as they poured the juice from a supermarket shelf JUST JUICE bottle!!! Totally shocked & questioned the waitress who didn't seem to understand why this juice wasn't ok & definitely shouldn't be sold to customers as 'fresh' orange juice...
Proceeded to wait 45mins for our meals, enquired about how much longer & was told 'maybe another 15mins...' again- totally shocked. Cancelled our meals directly with the owner who didn't seem to care & didn't apologise - left without brekkie after nearly 90mins since arriving. Maybe they were just having a REALLY bad day...but even so, we won't be back.

Nice decor, nice interior, OK service (some staff great, some not all that friendly). Had the chicken brioche and it filled me up but didn't leave me salivating. Would go back for a casual lunch on a day off, but wouldn't write home about it (although I would write Zomato).

Second date?

What do you do when your date presents well, is polite enough but something made you feel like s/he is going through the motions?

One Misty Guy's set up is decor-magazine quality, cozy to look at but (on this day) in dire need of heating. On a chilly Melbourne day we punters stayed insulated inside our jackets.

The egg and bacon brioche was true to its description but looked like it had been slap-dashed onto the plate. That said, the flavours worked a treat!

The waitress was efficient and patient but with a noticeable lack of verbalisation that made the atmosphere just a tad cooler. Lucky I still had my coat on. No 'how was your meal' or 'see you again' when I paid. On leaving another staff member spoke up wishing me goodbye in a tone that sounded genuine. Ice broken, at last.

So, first date analysis - smart dresser, cooks well, not big on conversation but seems genuinely sorry to see you go. Second date? Yeah, but don't play it so cool that I can't tell if you want to see me again, pleeease.

I've been driving past this place for months, meaning to go for a Friday night drink or dinner, but haven't got there. Finally got there tonight after driving past and seeing it was full again... It was GREAT! Knowledgable about wines, delicious bar/tapas food and then dinner, really good service and vibe, gorgeous courtyard... what's not to like?! They were turning people away. I first heard about this accidentally after a clip in the local paper as I LOVE Spilt Milk in Carnegie which is owned by the same guys. Will def be back. Just that little bit extra and better than the usual usual. Lovely people. You feel looked after. Thanks!!

This cafe has been my regular supplier of morning coffee since their opening over a year ago. They have been consistent in service and quality from day one. The owner, manager and staff are always a pleasure to talk to and look after my friends and I every time we visit.

The aesthetic is amazing and results in niche and cozy atmosphere that somehow seems exclusive yet welcoming at the same time. Well lit rooms, wooden floors and hanging wine glasses combined with scattered live fauna as well as excellent and often exotic music playlists make me feel like I am at the international epitome of a classic Melbournia cafe. Relaxed, yet lively, the rear outdoor section provides an oasis of friendly chatter and good food away from the hustle of the CBD.

The food itself is amazing, whether the Spanish influenced Chorizo and eggs, their spin on the hipster classic smashed avo, or the classic egg and bacon brioche (definitely ask for the herb hash brown in any case for an overwhelmingly tasty addition to any breakfast). Lunch has got to be the fried chicken brioche. As one with American roots, it's one of the few fried chicken sandwiches in Melbourne that comes close to the way it is done 'down south'.

The coffee is simply perfect requiring little to no explanation other than it is always what is needed. Bold, strong, and made with care by a man with tattoos and a beard that mean business, just like his product.

Never pass up an opportunity to stop here. The catering is on-point, and I haven't even mentioned the evening drinks and memorable functions that have been known to grace Malvern East thanks to these guys.

OMG = 5/5 every time.
Shaun
Try to pop in here everytime I'm in Melbourne. It's brilliant, food is fantastic, great environment the owner has created! Hard to find great food that isn't ridiculously over the top when traveling. Keep up the good work guys 👍

First impressions here were great - we were served by a heavily tattooed, bearded fellow, there were white tiles and hardwood table tops, and the place was busy - but before long my eyes misted over with yet another underwhelming affair. Don't go to the supermarket and purchase a loaf of helgas, a dozen free-to-roam eggs, bacon and chorizo and expect me to sing your culinary praises. Give a dog a bone, not a rubber chicken.

OMG is the well appointed suburban eatery that could easily pass as your kitchen and pantry at home.

Absolute legends! AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I had previously been here for a birthday dinner which was really nice and working nearby I invited colleagues to have dinner and drinks here. When I made the booking I was asked where I would like to sit and I thought the outside terrace area would be perfect. When I arrived for the booking, the staff sat us inside and I was wondering why we hadn't been put outside as per the booking. They were confused and came back to us to let us know that they had put all the large bookings outside and were very apologetic and offered a free bottle of wine (a decent one as well). I was very happy and the complementary wine certainly made up for the mistake!

The next day, to my surprise I got a phone call from the manager, Jansen apologizing for the booking confusion and not notifying me of the changes. Jansen did not think that it was acceptable, even with complementary wine, went on to offer a free dinner/breakfast if I come back to OMG to compensate for the confusion. I was absolutely blown away and have gone on to tell many people about this fantastic customer service.

Great food, great atmosphere, but most of all wow the customer service is on point and would recommend to anyone! Working in marketing, I believe this kind of service sets restaurants apart!!
Love the tapas and the sticky date pudding is delicious!

Pretty good guy. One Misty Guy (OMG - nice acronym) is a relatively new place in the otherwise rather dead food zone of the East Malvern Gascoigne Estate. I'm grateful to a friend who lives locally for tipping me off - a great find.

My brunch was a big veg dish, full of tasty elements including meaty mushrooms, delicious pulses and perfectly poached eggs as well as excellent grain toast. It was huge and meant I wasn't hungry till dinner time. Her OMG breakfast was just as delicious and had given me an insight into my next meal here!

My brunch with two pots of tea came to only $24.50 before tip. And service was delightful. My only hesitation is that we copped some fumes from a place next door or nearby - and a parking ticket for staying too long (more than 2 hours). Watch out for those!

The first time I went, this place was excellent... this time however, service was terrible. People next to us who ordered a long time after us got their meals first and my dining companion got her meal a long time before mine. Luckily hers was cold. Otherwise it would have gone cold waiting for me. When I enquired (yes, I had to enquire.. they didn't notice my companion had her meal about 20mins before mine) they said it would take an extra 2 minutes. No apologies. Not good enough. Pick your act up, OMG!

Been here a couple of times over the first semester of Uni. A cosy little cafe with fantastic service and atmosphere, as well as tasty food!

Visited OMG with my family and it was great! The menu has a good variety of options such as smashed avo, baked eggs, yummy pancakes with mascapone and berries, delicious lunch options such brioche burgers, and super salads, and also tapas such as calamari frittos and a charcuterie board.

The restaurant also offers a nice covered courtyard area which is nicely heated. There is also a pizza oven for traditional thin and crispy based pizza's.

Coffee is from Padre and is one of the best in the area.
OMG also offers an extensive, but not too overwhelming wine list, which can all be ordered by the glass as well as bottle.

Staff and service were great. Attentive, welcoming and friendly.

Will definitely be returning again.

Little cafe with a fantastic feel about it including a cute little courtyard out the back. One misty guy has a decent selection, as well as friendly and attentive service. Unfortunately I didnt enjoy the coffee at all. I dont know if it was down the the coffee bean type, but the cap I ordered was much too watery. Furthermore, the breakfast, whilst impressive upon presentation, was on the bland side. Don't know if I would necessarily return. One misty guy need to improve if they intend on competing with the big kids in Melbourne!

Since opening its doors, One Misty Guy in Malvern East is proving to be such a hit with the locals & we're not surprised at all. One Misty Guy offers a family friendly atmosphere, great coffee, innovative breakfast & lunch options & then converts into a fully licensed Restaurant & Wine Bar serving a delicious selection of Spanish tapas, pizza & dessert options in the evening for the whole family to enjoy. Make sure to check out their delectable range of wines by the glass & if you're not sure which one to choose, ask for Kirsty (the manager) & she'll provide you with some fabulous recommendations.

One Misty Guy is established in a nice leafy area in Malvern East just across the road from Monash University’s Caulfield campus. Considering the limited options for cafes currently surrounding the university, a new trendy cafe is always welcomed in my eyes. One Misty Guy offers indoor and outdoor seating with a lovely leafy view. They also have an alfresco like area in the courtyard at the rear end where you can see the pizzas cooking in the fire brick oven.

Not just pizza! Breakfast and coffee were delicious! I've been eyeing this place off since it opened and it did not disappoint. Went in a group of 3 and all three breakfasts were incredible. Loved the decor, staff were friendly and attentive and everything was spot on. Great work guys, keep it up!

We were here for dinner and we sat inside the café. We ordered the pizzas. Lots of choices to pick from choose from and unique in there combination of toppings. Options in Gluten free base, vegetarian toppings and the café very accommodating when one of my friends asked if she could change the choice in cheese toppings on her pizza. Service very friendly and personable and plenty of staff on board. Lots of people in and this was their quitter nights for a Friday. Pizzas were about $20. $11 for glass of wine. Lovely warm atmosphere, trendy décor and an outside, undercover seating which looked very cosy. Will definitely be back again for dinner or a catch up with friends for a drink. Had a coffee to finish up, great coffee.

Great atmosphere, decor & lovely staff. Reasonably priced menu and good coffee however make sure to ask for any hot drink "hot". Unfortunately the food and beverage continues to be inconsistent but it is the service that keeps bringing us back!
Pirrenee Steinert
Beautiful food and very friendly caring service. Lovely outdoor seating area with great music and a good vibe :) good coffee and flexible on the menu choices. Took a little while for food to come out though there were 6 of us and we all go it at the same time, which was appreciated.

Nice little place.

Went with the family. Shared a number of the tapas dishes available and a variety of pizzas. Finished it off with the Pannacotta and cheese cake.

Tapas dishes were rather small given the prices.

Pizzas were ok not as good as some of the premium pizza restaurants.

Deserts were a pass as well.

Will go back but just order the pizza.

Toodles

A ripping little local venue. A very relaxed atmosphere, beautiful decor and top notch food and beverages all served with a heartfelt smile. Would recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for a relaxed drink, brekkie in the morning or a bite to eat with friends in the evening. Give it a go!

Had my first coffee from OMG this morning. Definitely the best coffee in the area and an absolute gorgeous layout. Well done guys! Looking forward to having breakfast and dinner in the near future.

All the best,
Dean

My husband and I have been very much looking forward to OMG opening as Spilt Milk (the owners other cafe) used to be our local. Three of us came for dinner on opening night and shared a selection of the tapas dishes. The croquettes were to die for, so creamy and so delicious. The lamb cutlets were cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly, we wish that there were more than 2 in the serving as they were a favourite for all three of us. And the babaganoush in the dips platter - yum!! For dessert we shared the rose water Panna Cotta and the deconstructed lemon cheesecake which were both delicious. Our only feedback would be more choice on the dessert menu as there is so much choice for savoury food and drinks but only 3 dessert options. Very friendly service. Good selection of wines. We look forward to trying the pizza on our next visit.
