Review Coffee & Soul - Malvern

SOFÍA OVIEDO P.
I got a coffee and a toastie ham cheese and tomato, the coffee, regular cappuccino was delicious but my toastie was without HAM, I PAID MORE THAN 15 DOLLARS FOR IT, I think that is a bit expensive

Really great breakfast food and wonderful coffee. The staff were also very friendly and the owner took the time to talk to us.

Not a coffee drinker, but my hot chocolate here today was the best I’ve had in a veerryy long time!! So yummy. I smashed it down. Egg and bacon muffin was great but had no sauce so note to ask for sauce if needed which I’ll do next time. 😊 welcoming staff also

The coffee is excellent. All sandwiches have generous filling and nice sourdough bread. The chicken sandwich is the best! It’s more of a takeaway shop than an eat-in cafe.

Had excellent experience. The coffee was one of the best I've had. I ordered iced mocha, and my friends got mocha and long black. We all loved our respective drinks. We also got ham and cheese toasties and a grain salad and they were also pretty good and fresh. The staff was really helpful and friendly. We wanted to sit in the courtyard and they were happy to clean and set up a table to accommodate us even though there were seats available inside. The place doesn't look modern or has the Cafe vibe that most other Cafes in Melbourne have but whatever look and feel they're going for really works. Highly recommended. Would definitely go again.

We saw this place won "Top 10 in Herald Sun" and the coffee really was great! Staff friendly and Food was also excellent- We had Fresh Spinach pie with salad, Grain salad with Yogurt, Waffles with berries and Omelette on multigrain with bacon side.. They also did fresh veggie and fruit juice. We Sat in the beautiful garden backyard... we will definitely go back!

In particular I loved the spinach and ricotta tortellini with chicken.. delicious!! Has a lovely comfortable environment... And very welcoming lovely people. Will definately be going back with friends/family for lunch.. or maybe even breakfast 😁

Great coffee and a walk in central park

Fantastic coffee cakes and food No wonder they were voted within top 10 in Melbourne!

Don't know who made the coffee but it was terrible. Never going back there. Many other places locally with better baristas. Would not be recommending to anyone.

This place sits alongside Mister Sister as my no 1 best coffee in the area! So consistent and such lovely staff. I enjoy my walk down to here with a view across to Central Park a few times a week.

I’ve been a few times and the food is nice, however the coffee is satisfactory, especially for the price you pay; overrated. I do have high expectations but unfortunately this doesn’t exceed mine.

This is a coffee shout out. Love the coffee, staff are lovely and great food selection. If I'm in the area this is the cafe ill go to for my coffee hit.

A typical storey of a coffee shop that starts out well and then when they busy, believe that their customers and quality of food and service is secondary.<br/>Ordered a toasted bacon and egg sandwich with egg over easy. The egg was rock hard. Asked one of the waitresses to please bring me a replacement egg. A few minutes later the owner came out from behind the grill and started shouting at me, telling me that he could not do eggs like that on his grill.<br/><br/>There are too many good coffee shops in Melbourne to have to put up with such abuse, wont be going back there again.

The staff at "Coffee & Soul" OBVIOUSLY haven't heard of 'Wasabi the super pup'. No star treatment here, that's for sure!<br/><br/>We, on the other hand, had never heard of their WORLDS GREATEST BEANS.  So, there you go.<br/><br/>No, the service was not great, but it was PROMPT and EFFICIENT.  (No smiles/no time to answer simple questions WITHOUT racing off to chat behind the counter to chat with other staff).<br/><br/>The Latte today was creamy/luscious.  The coffee was very, very smooth.  BUT, a bit forgettable.  A bit too MILKY without the strength we like. <br/><br/>So, do they serve THE BEST BEANS IN THE WORLD? YOU, dear reader, will, as usual, decide for yourself.<br/><br/>Ps.  WHY THE VITRIOL in the other reviews?  Somebody has certainly TICKED OFF somebody, hey? Kinda funny, except of course, if it's YOU being attacked.

I think that some of the reviewers are going to a different place than me, or have a personal vendetta against this cafe. The coffee at CnS is fantastic, the best in Melbourne. Great aroma, flavour, body. The staff are friendly and fun to each customer and with each other. The food is delicious and handy. The queues are long because the cafe is great. 5/5.

The best coffee in all of Melbourne! I go here every day and the staff know me personally, always greeting me and taking interest in what's happening in my life. Staff are quick and efficient so friendly and all up the best place. 5/5 😀

Never in my life have I come across a man who is as petty and just plain horrible as the owner of this shop. He will do anything to get what he wants, including destroying private property. He is such a baby. I would recommend going down the street to get a better coffee.

The boss is a horrible person who lacks respect and empathy for his neighbors and community; openly threatening in order to make a couple more dollars. Do not buy coffee here unless you want a rude, aggressive experience.
Nicholas Luke Miller-Stawyskyj
I used to love what this establishment meant for the area, but after having to deal with the business, being threatened and having personal property damaged, I have been forced to reconsider. If you frequent this place, please understand that you are supporting someone that has very little consideration for the community and is clearly driven by the bottom line. I wish I were not so compelled to write this review, but as things stand I can not stay silent. Try one of the other places in the area, they mean a lot more to the community.

Ok coffee and sandwiches BUT the rudest service. The eye rolling and head shaking when people didn't immediately jump up and grab their order was almost comical...except it was just rude. The staff should be happy that they were busy - there are other better options in that Central Park strip of shops - go there instead.

Great, amazing coffee. This place is so consistent and welcoming. Fast, friendly, happy and efficient service. I wish these guys would open a restaurant in the area - they would make a killing.
Cat
Just average coffee shop - nothing special about the coffee, the food, or the decor, but it is definitely a good place for take-away breakfast. Lover their sandwiches and yogurt.
Toodles
Again, a good honest cafe, no surprises and definitely no shocks. Been drinking coffee from there for a few years now, haven't tasted much from the menu. <br/><br/>Toodles

Brillaint service, fantastic Coffee. Definitely recommend these guys for their coffees and smoothies. They are just marvelous.
Gordon
Gordon. Great that every ones goes there but coffee very inconsistent way to many lines in this little cafe feels like a 7 11 more and more as time goes on I wish someone good opened up with good coffee in the area.

Disappointing. The window blurb offers plenty but fails to deliver. <br/>Breakfast at 11am you would expect a full menu, WRONG.<br/>Menu offers many goodies but they were all out of most things.<br/>"we don't usually get many people ordering breakfast"<br/>Well then WHY PUT IT ON THE MENU??????<br/>Not going there in the near future. <br/>Coffee was ordinary as well.

Outstanding coffee but the staff need to cheer the hell up. OK, they get the coffee right EVERY time ( I've had a latte every day there for nearly a year) but the experience overall is VERY deflating. Having always lived in Hawthorn and Camberwell - (which could, like Malvern, be easily labelled snobby and affluent) I am nonetheless used to building a positive and cheerful relationship with my local cafe . As someone who has worked in a thriving community centric cafe also, I am well aware that you get to know your customers well, especially the easy stuff - i.e., their name and order at a minimum - after all, you see these same faces every day for months or years - it's a mutual thing, getting to know names, asking about one's day ...general uplifting conversation or banter.. you know the drill. Not at this place - all the staff look like they would prefer to be somewhere else - you're essentially invisible as a customer- they simply ask for your order and then move on indifferently. They still ask me what I want every day despite my order not having changed for 10 months! No one smiles ever and the staff don't seem to like each other either ( I don't think I have ever seen them chat to each other). It's zombie land in there and even though I leave with a cup of coffee perfection, I invariably end up feeling like one too by the end of the ten minute experience- it would be so much nicer to just have a smile and feel like me supporting their business was worth them at least asking my name or recalling my order once in a while.
Margarita
Jan. Yes I heard about him, he is paying everyone cash and doesn't treat his staff well. He never smiles and I don't understand how someone like him can work in hospitality?
Allegra
Not bad.....but not that good either. Coffee isn't too bad but the service leaves a lot to be desired. The guy who owns it needs to maybe try smiling once in a while.

Coffee is really good, however you'd think the staff would be friendlier if you've been a regular customer for 2+ years!!
