Review Larder - Malvern

Amanda Beet
Food is good, and they stock a great range of preserves etc to buy, but the coffee was disappointing. Asked for a large long black, and got what seemed like a regular long black simply topped up with hot water resulting in a weak tasteless coffee. Most cafes give normal "long black" strength coffee but more of it which is what I'd wanted.

Good coffee, a useful selection of typical cafe fare, and a range of ingredients for cooking at home. Good for a quick snack or afternoon tea. Handy after picking up kids after school as it is open later than most other cafes in the area.

Quite open cafe with the bunch of stock of herb and some coffee bean. When you enter, you can see through the other side of road. Cappuccino milk foam is really thick and creamy. Nicely calm atmosphere so good to go when you want to escape from dairy noise!!

Toilets dirty. Toilets appear not cleaned for a considerable period. Menu is very limited. Service average. Cannot recommend. Attention to many aspects of this business is necessary.

Larder make an absolutely excellent cup of coffee. Probably the best on the glen ferrie Road malvern strip.

The food however is dry and somewhat lack lustre... if they could improve this would definitely be my go to place.

Such a welcoming, calm oasis. The communal table is a great place to read the papers, and sit with friends. Lots of smaller tables out the back. Staff are fantastically friendly and the service is fast. My go to dish is the smashed avo on toast, and of course, the best brownie ever. Fresh tea that actually tastes like tea always hits the spot, and the food servings are generous. I always enjoy going to the Larder.

This is such a welcoming place with interesting provisions for foodies to explore and try. A recent slow cooked lamb ciabatta sandwich was sensational and the soups are beautiful. Love the coffee and smashed Avo with goats cheese or salmon, can buy lovely Dench bread here too. Great place for quick lunch or relaxed cuppa.

Best coffee and service in the area. Fab sandwiches with delicious filling from the deli large enough to eat half here and takeaway the rest.

This place has earned it's 95% just having lunch now... All very fresh and great food.

What a great find on Glenferrie Road!. I just love this cafe and food store, knowing I can pop in on the way home to grab a last minute dinner; or just sit and drink good coffee amongst lovely, relaxed staff. Large range of gourmet food as well as nifty items to give your cooking a boost, such as unusual seasonings for meats and fish; and dressings. Great selection of cheeses. Also good for a novel dinner party pressie on the weekend, when you can't face giving yet another box of chocolates. Have found this to be a buzzy and welcoming cafe atmosphere among the gourmet offerings.

Good coffee. Great place to pop into, sit at the large communal table and read the paper with a great coffee and light snack. Staff are all friendly and helpful, efficient service. I keep returning and the one coffee usually turns into two, casual and relaxed. My local haunt for a good coffee.
