Review Golden Cloud Spur Steak Ranch - Mandurah

Jane Papandrea
Went for dinner last night. Ordered the Ribeye and Chicken Schnitzel with cheesy garlic prawn topper. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals as we do every time we dine there. We are always impressed about how quick the meals are out no matter how busy they are. We will return.

2.5 stars Had dinner here for my mothers 50th. Was easy to book a table & staff were extremely friendly. Although the quality/price for our meals didn't seem worth it unfortunately. The ribs were great & so were the garlic prawns but the side of cheap bread was confusing. The onion rings were uneatable ( thin, dripping in oil ) our steaks were chewy & overcooked, sauces weren't pleasant either. Drink wise - I'd recommend trying the mudslide cocktail. I had to get a refund on the first cocktail I ordered being a slushy & watery pina colada ? This place is definitely not how I remembered it to be.

Silver Spur in Penrith was our go-to restaurant for family celebrations for over 20 years. Unfortunately it was one of the first Covid victims in 2020 in our area. While in WA for work, I was pleasantly surprised that Golden Cloud Spur was still open in Mandurah so I made the trek from my hotel room in Midland to enjoy some old favourites once again. The Cheddamelt Steak & Waffles were as I remembered them. Thanks for a great trip down memory lane. It looks like I’ll have to bring the family for a holiday to WA.

Just love this place. Its not fancy. Its great for families with an awesome kids area. On the water, amazing steaks and pretty cheap for what you get. Each and every member of staff is smiley and kind. Everything you need!

The steak and ribs are delicious and perfectly cooked, the staff are very accommodating and friendly. This is our second visit in a week and we're coming back this weekend! Can't get enough. 🤤🤤🤤

Staff were amazing, helpful and accommodating. Drinks were mixed well and they even made a good coffee which is rare these days. Food portions are awesome and visually appealing. Prices weren't bank breaking which is a nice change. However I did have to send a steak back as it was over cooked (MR = WD). I would highly recommend giving this place a try if you have spare time.

Enjoyed a most delicious meal at Golden Cloud Spur today. Great prices, friendly staff, clean & neat environment. Will be back. 🙂🙃😉

FOOD WAS HORRIBLE, soggy chips, watered down drink. service was horrible my small child asked for a birthday song but he did not receive it. The food was over priced and gross so not go here.

We also dine here with our small children when in Mandurah. Food always consistently good and fast friendly service with a smile. Keep it up.

Great night out with enough food and drink to fill 3 hungry bodies. Kudos to waitress Lindsy who went out of her way to look after us from the moment we walked in the door until we left.

Delicious... ordered the nachos and a burger. Faultless... tasted just like being back in South Africa. The Milkshake was also lovely and the Chico the clown ice cream brought back lovely memories.

The play area and jumping castle for the kids was fantastic.

Visited last night with my family. Booked a big table (for 12) at the last minute and they gave us a great spot near the water. The food was good however the main reason for my review is how attentive they were to my daughter's food allergies. After speaking with the fantastic waitress Lindy she took me over to the owner and I went through the kids menu with him where he even showed me the food labels so I could be sure they were safe for my daughter to eat. All in all it was a lovely evening and I was very happy to see such care taken to my daughter's allergies

The young staff members were friendly. Very clean restaurant with tasty food. There was a bit of a wait for the food but we were satisfied with our meals and the overall experience.

It was disappointing went here for dinner with my family for my birthday,we were a party of 7 When we arrived and were seated and took drink order. Food was very slow 2 meals came out at a time I had to watch my family eat as mine was last to arrive. i had the calamari & steak combo, The steak was not done to my liking I asked for (Medium) but received medium well. the sauce options was pricey $3 per sauce to be honest the blue vein sauce was to thick and tasted more of garlic than blue vein. The “onion rings” were small strands of onion with a coating not what I hoped for.

We had a lovely lunch here! Trish a steak and me a burger woth nice glass of wine. Monday to Friday senior lunch specials. Yummy and nice service. The owner very friendly.

First time experience and we were so impressed. The ribs and burgers were really tasty and the service was excellent. The owner and his staff went out of their way to ensure we were well looked after. Will definitely go back. It was also great for our kids too. Big thanks to the staff.
Chelsea Burton
Very kid friendly, with a play area and PlayStation. Massive kids menu, with a bit of everything. Food is good but not good enough for the prices. Lovely staff.
Doc
The steaks, ribs & any combos are completely overpriced. They should all be $25-$30 for what you're getting, not $40! The last time I came here (a couple years ago), the prices were suitable. Now they've been hiked up for no reason, as the food has not been increased in quality whatsoever.
ZZQ
Very friendly staff and efficient service. The location and atmosphere is superb. The actual food needs a bit of work.

Entree of crumbed mushrooms was a tasty and clever idea. The portion was plentiful but the amount of aioli provided was not close to being adequate. The crumbed exterior was very tasty but overall it was bland due to the fairly large size of the button mushrooms. If smaller mushrooms could be sourced then I think this dish would really stand out.

The burger along with fries and fried-onions were generous and filling. On the downside neither the bun nor the patty was up to scratch. The bun was one of the worst hamburger buns I've ever had (for the price point). It was soft, soggy, and tasteless. The patty had good BBQ flavouring on the outside however it was tasteless on the inside. Strangely the entire burger was extremely bland even with the pineapple and bacon, which seems almost harder to achieve than making it tasty.

I would come back again for the friendly staff and the nice atmosphere. Hoping for an improvement on the standard of food on my next visit as currently it does not match the prices the restaurant is charging.

Spur is great family friendly restaurant, the food is amazing the sreak is always done to profection and the ribs are so tasty and tender. We have also tried most of the burgers and they are delicious! The service is excellent the staff are very friendly and competent.
Love Eating Out
We dined here on a Sunday night. The services was good and the staff were friendly. I ordered the garlic prawns - unfortunately they were lacking garlic. The others had steak which was tender and delicious. The only negative is the price - very expensive for steak. And why don't they throw in free sauce when you've already spend that much on steak. A bit cheeky to charge for sauce.

Feb 2018
Visited again. Had potato skins and a burger. Very bland. Quite disappointed

Always a good choice with large servings. The steak and rib combo is always my go to favorite. The drinks menu is also quite extensive. This place is tailored towards families, so at times can get quite loud and busy. Additionally, for the environment that the restaurant is set, the prices for the meals can seem quite expensive. The staff are generally young, however are competent at basic table service. If your feeling like just an all round big meal, give this place a go.

Been a few times, Staff are always very friendly and great service,Food is great best burgers in town, good value too.id definatly go back.

After having been to Spurs before, though in different parts of the world, we were quiet looking forward to having an enjoyable lunch as a family.
When we got to Spurs, we were greeted by two young women with bored expressions on their faces, one of whom ushered is to our table and all but threw the menus at us. I let it slide.
But then it came time to order and she have off the impression that we were wasting her time because part of our group only ordered starters - they physically can't eat much.
When we were presented with our plates and cutlery, two of the knives were dirty and the plates were soaking wet.
Despite a few mishaps, we were still looking forward to our ribs. We were disappointed.
The ribs were bland and chewy. The outside was over charred and the inside was tough. We ordered calamari rings as well and yet again, we were disappointed. Despite them dripping in oil, they were cold and stringy.

Overall we had a disappointing lunch and will not be returning any time soon.
Lloyd Milton
eaten there a few times and about to go there again tonight for a relaxing dinner with my wife...

Friendly atmosphere, so far every meal has been delicious and cooked to our tastes..
A little pricey but hey it is no more expensive than hogs breath cafe and the food quality and portion sizes are equally good...
Esme Watson
Good if you have kids as it has a play area, would not return here myself. I felt dirty afterwards. Quantity over quality. The ribs were tender. That's the only good thing about this place.
Gillnet
Excellent service, food was great. Steak cooked well, ribs were moist and fell off the bone. Kid friendly, including discounts on Mondays and Tuesday's. Would visit again.
Yesterday, my high school girl friends had scheduled a catch up and birthday lunch date at Spurs, Mandurah. We had thrown around a few different venues originally, but decided upon Spurs due to it’s family friendly atmosphere, as some of the girls now have children and would bringing them along. Can't complain about the portion sizes, although the service needs some attention. Would I return to Spurs? I wouldn't turn down an invitation, but I certainly wouldn't arrange to meet there!

So yummy. Such big filling meals hard to find these days who can complain!!

Very disgusted with the food quality, the service and the management/owner:(. As a Chef I am absolutely disgusted with the flavor of the food and the service. My family of 8 had lunch at this location today and we were all unhappy with our meals. My mom and I ordered the Tbone steak and it was cold and had too much basting sauce on it. We waited about 1 hour for our food and then an extra 25 minutes for a meal that was forgotten. A great steak does not need to be over loaded with sauce and cold. My daughter ordered the chicken parmesan with salsa. The waitress forgot to put in the order for her meal and it came after we all ate. The only reason that it came at all was because ten minutes after we all received our meals she still did not have her meal so I asked the waitress about it. Her meal came 15 minutes after. Because we were in a rush she did not have time to eat her meal. This Spurs location needs to take a trip back to South Africa and get some tips on how to prepare the great food that Spurs is known for. Further more the manager/owner needs addition training on customer service. Our bill was close to $300, she apologized and said that she knew that mistake was made on their part and discounted our meal by $10. Instead taking off the $30 for the meal that was late and not eaten, she now has lost a valuable customer that brings guests there on a regular basis. In the future will will only be dining at Hogs breath. The service is great and the steaks are always tasty and tender. Don't waste your money on Spurs. This restaurant is an example of why owners should not manage food service establishments. They are too worried about the $$$$$$$$$ and not worried about customer or food satisfaction.

Disappointed with their stupid time table.. We got to spurs at 8pm on a Sunday with hungry stomachs and decided to wait for our party of four. The sign on the door said Open 5-10pm on Sunday so we decided to go walk alongside the park as we waited for our friends. By 8:20 they had arrived and we headed off to spurs. By 8:25pm we where at the door only to see a sign written closed. We entered regardless and asked wat was the meaning of this. I was soooooo frustrated by the response we got. The waitress told us that it's been 10 minutes with no clients so we are closed. 10minutes!! Seriously!!! 10minutes!! Yet there was a group outside ready to buy food. I told her we drove 69 km to come here and she goes on to say the grill is off.

-----05 Apr, 2015-----

Disappointed with their stupid time table.. AWESOME!!! All round..food..service..entertainment.. Went to for the first time for my birthday dinner. The staff were friendly and more than helpful. We were in a large group with kids and they were more than accommodating when it came to positioning us table wise. The food was awesome....HUGE serves and reasonable prices for what you received. All the meals were tasty all round, no one had any negative things to say about their meals. Not to mention, with my son being autistic and fussy when it comes to "meal time", they were more than accommodating when it came to his meal. The only thing I can't comment taste wise on were the deserts, as being my birthday we brought a birthday cake there, but I saw a few coming out and they looked yummy so that will be on my "must have list" next visit. The activities for the kids were awesome too....they ran amok on the bouncy castle and had fun on the computers. We all felt like we could relax and enjoy ourselves and that is what we did. Definately on my "the spot" to go for next night out...and kids eat FREE on Monday and Tuesday! What more could you ask for :-)

Delicious ribs. Had dinner here tonight. Was not sure what to expect with the mixed reviews.
We had 2 children with us. Was given the option of sitting near the kids area or with water views. We chose to sit away from the noisy area.
I had ribs and wings and husband had ribs and chicken. Ribs were melt off the bone delicious. And the BBQ sauce yum. Thank goodness we did not order a starter as the meals were huge.
Service was friendly And fast.
Next time we will make sure to come on a Monday or Tuesday when kids eat free!!!! And there will definately be a next time when we in the region

Noisy and expensive. Too noisy and we found the food expensive.
There are better steak houses in Mandurah with better quality food.

If you want to go for an expensive after work drink and burger its great. If like us you want to catch up with old friends over a meal its not the place.

Recognition. We attended Spurs Mandurah for a birthday dinner and found the service , especially from Zoe, very professional and polite. Managed to put up with a large group very well. The food was great. We were very impressed and would definately attend again. Thank you Spurs Mandurah and especially Zoe.

Don't waste your money. We went there for a Saturday dinner. The garlic bread had no garlic and was soft, the onion rings were just disgusting and the steak was the worst I have ever had. This place was good a year ago but is now the worst fastfood I have ever had!!!!!

Lekker, Lekker, Lekker. As a South African moving to Perth, I couldn't of been more excited to hear that one of my favourite restaurants are here in Perth. Abit of a drive for those who live in the North but it was well worth it.
The portion sizes never disappoint. And the food was cooked to perfection.
Brought back many fond memories!
Happy to know that a Spur opened up in Wanneroo. You'll see me again.
Baie dankie

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. We went there on Monday night and the service was non existent. We waited 20 minutes after being seated to get our drinks order taken and that was only done as we waved down a waitress.
The kids meals were soggy, oily and cold. The Ribs were cold and terrible. I had a burger and the bun was recently defrosted and soggy.
Very average, do not recommend people to go there at all!!!!
Shadah
Very friendly, professional service.. We ate on a Wednesday night with a group of 10. Our booking was on the verandah overlooking the inlet which was very quiet and peaceful. The service was faultless, our waiter ,Carl, was extremely helpful, professional, and accommodating. The food was exceptional, servings were more than adequate and everybody thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Not sure that I would want to sit inside as it seems a little "tight" but would probably be perfect with young families as the children's play area allows parents to relax while they eat. Highly recommended for a casual family restuarant.

Excellent food!. To anyone who compares the Spur to MacDonalds, clearly you're not accustomed to good food. Stick to macdonalds and leave conossoir eating to to those if us who appreciate good food!
Lewyr81
Food is terrible. Worst steak ive ever had, mcdonalds would of been better for me and the kids
Big Al
Very good. Always a great meal when I go there 10/10, my personal favourite is the Club Sandwich with chips and onion rings, always impressed with the service also, keep up the good work
Tracy
What a rip off! I ordered the burger which was tastless, my husband ordered the ribs which were very tough and cost $40. The manager didnt seem too bothered when we complained, she even agreed that she didnt like the beef ribs and offered no discount. Will not be going there again!!
Neenienoo
Staff friendly but the meal was ok wouldn't go back in a hurry steak way under cooked and some of the food cold we ended up spending over 400 dollars very noisy . Think they try and cram too many people in.
Don't think it was worth the money

Not cool!!!. Went to spurs for my sons birthday really looking forward to it but we're left extremely disappointed.
My partner ordered the steak and ribs, asked for steak to be well done,it came out mooing and ribs were half cooked,I ordered reef and beef done medium it was tasteless and tough and prawns were undercooked and in edible I asked to have onion rings and salad instead of chips and was told no they don't do that my father in law said his fish was dry when it was actually chicken he was eating!!!!!!the menu sounds really good until your food gets to your table then it's all downhill from there and we were charged for the kids drinks which were meant to be included in their meal. Will not be going there again very pricey for very bad food and left still hungry will go to the pizza shop around the corner next time or to hogs breath not cool at all

Disapointed. I dined at spurs in mandurah for the first time although the service was excellent my meal the chicken snitzel was horrible, dry and overcooked the salad was ok but not the best i have tried . they took $10.00 off the price but still it cost me $15.00 for the salad . unfortunately i cannot recommend this restaurant due to my first experience also a bit pricey .

Nice food, lovely waitress. Large restaurant, I only had a salad with grilled chicken but it was huge and really fresh. Meals are really big. Looks like a great place if you have kids or grand kids.

Very disappointed. Went with my daughter that's home for a week and friend weds 18th march . food was cold , ribs dry and fatty and even the wipes weren't moist ,, wont be going back in a hurry . not at what we spent for three meals . nearly $120

Grrreat Food, excellent service, cheerful staff, great family restaurant! If you are hungry because you need to be, the portions are huge, cooked to perfection, try the ribs and a cold Savanna Dry Cider to wash it down! Excellent value for money! A must try and you'll keep on returning! Well done!

Very short sighted. This was my experience last night, you be the judge.A group of 6 adults and 3 children went for a meal as we have done on many previous occasions.(kids eat free night). We ordered 6 adult meals and 3 free childrens meals, cost of adult meals $150.65.plus jug of soda $9.95.One child decided she did not want the childs steak meal so swapped with her mothers chicken burger.During the latter part of our meal we were told that there would be a surcharge because an adult ate a kids meal.(unbelievable) WE were charged $10.95 for kids steak plus surcharge of $5.00 for what should have been free.As the kids meal was paid for, the kids soda we were charged for should have been free,we were charged extra $1.95.I consider we were charged $17.90 extra over what was ordered. When asked the supervisor why,we were told its company policies and that's that.Spurs have lost mine and 5 other diners custom for ever more and any of our friends and work mates custom. Is this short sighted or not.You decide. The meals have always been OK for conveyor belt meals,oh and by the way staff blowing bubble gum while standing around does not help.
Rebecca
Always great food and really awesome service!! Love going here -never gets old!

Great for young kids. I've been to spur a few times, most recently twice in the last week. If you have young kids this is a great place. Bouncy castle, little play gym, helium balloons and playstations to keep the little ones amused.
Pork ribs are fantastic, as is garlic snails. In my experience the service has been very friendly. Would happily go back with 4 year old. Probably not the best place for a romantic dinner unless you're a nostalgic South African.
Vicki Levitzke
We had a celebration lunch here today. There were 7 adults and four children (aged 4 to 8). We sat beside the play area where we could observe the kids easily. It was a very relaxed occasion. The food was good - especially loved the ribs and onion rings. Service too was prompt and accommodated all our needs. The kids' meals offered great choice and were $10.95 including a drink and a beautiful dessert. We look forward to more visits .

I cant believe a restaurant with such terrible food and discraceful service can even exist in mandurah this long what a joke time to try another buisness
Phillip
Best ribs I've had in WA with excellent service too
Sharic
Been to spur many a time now with friends and family and have had nothing but good service and great food each time... if going on a saturday night can be a wait for food but otherwise usually reasonably fast service
Kristy_45
TERRIBLE. The service was terrible, kids meals came out with the rest of the meals, Everyone's meal was cold. Than they overcharged us for the drinks in the kids meals WTF???????
Debbie Cartwright
My family had lunch there today and also were skeptical due to the mixed reviews. The meal was excellent and very much what we loved in South Africa. The starters of calamari and mushrooms were lovely. Followed by the ribs, chicken schnitzel with pepper sauce, 200g rump and the Lazy Aged steak - superb. The service unfortunately was exceptionally slow, but our waitress apologised profusely. They did not expect a large turnout for a Monday, however short sighted, they did try and were very friendly. Most certainly will return, just hope they up their service levels but can only rave about the meal
Dani
My husband and I has lunch here today and the food was ahhhh mazing! Ribs cooked to perfection and not too much sauce on them. Medium rate steak cooked perfectly also loved it!!
Nicwalker1
Nic. Was going to go tonight but after reading the reviews have decided not to bother it sounds like most of the restaurants in Mandurah poor service and poor food and expensive because the restaurants are struggling to keep there heads above water.
Ozzieluppina
Chicken salad Yum Yum Yum. The best dish on the list is the chicken salad it is sooo good!

Even when they are packed the service is good and the food comes out fast
Mfga
Had to send my $35 steak and jacket potato back, because Jp was hard and rotting on the inside, steak was over cooked. Kitchen staff seem like amatures. Waiter was nice though.

Enjoyable night. So we went to spurs tonight- 2 adults and 2 children. Got there when it opened and noticed how busy it was right from opening time. Salad was nice, ribs were amazing!! Kids meals a bit overpriced for what they were. But kids loved the play area, and it was lovely to be able to be seated close to it, and actually have an adult conversation with the meal. We will definitely be back!!! Only issue we had was the wait for the food, but starters came out quickly, and kids were entertained. The complementary helium balloons for kids were a nice touch too. Wish we lived closer so we could go more often.
Mad Goose
Went there on Saturday night, ordered the full rack of pork ribs , it was absolutely amazing, the meat was falling right off the bone as the delicious basting danced on my tounge, chips onion rings , garlic cheesy snails , delicious I highly recommend this place , service was good aswell, don't listen to the negative comments on here they talk rubbish!
Abby
Amazing food.. I love Spurs! The food is amazing and the staff are great.
the last 3 times ive been i havent had to wait at all the food comes out within 20 minutes of ordering even on busy nights!
Jess
HOW RUDE. We went hear for dinner had finished our way over priced badly cooked steak, and were waiting to pay for about 10 min to see the manager go running past us he seen us and stopped all of a sudden he though we had left without paying never in my life have i felt like someone had been so rude !!! learn how to run a business have people at the counter when they are meant to be.and no apology just a dumb look never ever again
Finefoodie
Attentive service, family orientated.. I dined here tonight with my 2 children and it was a hit! I was given the option of sitting near the play area which I appreciated. The service was polite and attentive. The menu was family orientated my son loved the ribs as did I. The strawberry milkshake rated well and the chocolate brownie too. The play area is fantastic allowing parents some quiet time while the kids are occupied.
I really liked the environment & much prefer it to other steak houses in rockingham/ mandurah. It wasn't cheap but really these days no where is unless it McDonalds !
Thankyou guys !

Was a bit hesitant about going here after reading other reviews but was really impressed. Food and service were great. Had 4 mains and three starters and all were brilliant. Price was a bit expensive but compared to the price and quality you pay and get at Hogs Breath and Outback Jacks it was miles better and well worth it. Will def be going again!

POST TO POSH SPICE. Please do tell us how the three blind mince is played on a bell you melodramatic person. Actually write something that is constructive for the businesses instead of drippling all over this page. There is nothing that I hate more than ignorant fools writing anything without substance. Grow Up!

Me no likey.... Next time, I'll drive to The Breakfast Creek Hotel in Brisbane. High prices, low quality and lots of little girly staff that have good intentions. But I ask you, how many times can you be asked if you're enjoying your meal? I get it, it's aimed at families but at what cost? A complete lack of ambience. Barefoot kids running around and a barman playing 3 blind mice on the bell! Another 5 minutes and I would have needed trauma counselling.
Gracie
Wonderful experience. Friendly staff. The food were FANTASTIC, especially the ribs! We will definitely visit again.
Rebecca
Horrible food, horrible staff. Nothing good to say about this mediocre restaurant at best. We had to complain about our meal which was fat not meat and were basically shown the door after over paying for the worst dining experience we have ever had. Definitely would NOT recommend to anyone. Just horrible.

We were relieved, this is the real deal.. After reading some mixed Urban Spoon reviews and also hearing from friends that they were disappointed, we finally made an arrangement to go and dine at the Spur in Mandurah.

Although it is not possible to replicate the atmosphere of the Spur in South Africa , the owners have made a huge effort. Right down to the cowskin patterned leather seating and native american iconography on the walls and adorning the lights, it really felt like we were sitting in a real Spur, it was strange to walk out into Mandurah again and realise we were in Australia.

I was most pleased with the service - not only did we get asked within the first 10 minutes if we would like to order, it was done in a friendly, helpful and attentive manner, none of the sour attitude that others have experienced.

If anything they were too efficient - it seemed that as soon as we were ready , they were there to help and it wasn't just the assigned waitress on the table, the owner was at the ready, I noticed he also set some time aside to chat to some diners - mostly about how he set up a Spur in Perth since most of the people eating tonight were clearly expat south africans who were pleased that they could experience some of the atmosphere that the Spur is known for and which is etched in the minds of most south africans.

The food arrived and the ribs were fantastic - or so we were told by the kids, who enjoyed them. We had the chicken burgers which were also very tasty. I made the mistake of ordering a second round of appletizers - this was one thing that unsettled me, they were $5 each which is way too much - and made up a substantial part of the bill - which came in total to $122 - $40 of which was appletizers.

The onion rings which accompanied our meals - a Spur speciality - were exactly as I remember them , the portions were huge , and we didn't have space for pudding although the kids tucked into chico the clown - a well known Spur dessert.

Although one cannot replicate every single aspect of the Spur I would have enjoyed a "Salad Valley" - although there may be hygiene reasons for this. Also, my favourite indulgence at the Spur in SA - the "John Lee Special" really just Coke with lemon juice - was absent - oh well, can't win em all.

I was amused to see that another Spur tradition - the waiters and waitresses singing a birthday song to kids - was replicated - although I have to say that it didn't work quite as well as it does in SA - put that down to African singing just being more melodious - I certainly couldn't fault the enthusiasm displayed by the singers - they made a good effort and were applauded for it afterward.

All in all , I arrived with low expectations but was more than pleasantly surprised.

We'll be dining at Spur again. Definitely.

We've been there a lot lately its a nice place to go with kids i wish the play area would be bigger! A lot bigger! Service its been good except last time a couple of weeks ago when we waited for 40mins for our food and thats not acceptable at all when you have young kids with you. Nice food every time, love pork ribs! Its a bit expensive but we go back just because its so kids friendly that they don't mind the mess and so helpful especially when we had a 2yo with a huge tantrum, they came with a little gift for her to try and help us so we can finish dinner. We like it!
Di
Was very dissapointed with the service 20mins to be served and over an hour to get our food. Prearranged a birthday but no acknowledgement at all, wouldnt mind too much but very pricy

Dinner for 4 on Monday 27th May 2013. Dear Spurs Restaurant Owner,

We came there tohave our family dinner at 7 pm and oder our steak maincourse and also hamburger and also sandwich , of the 4 maincourse we order, the hamburger (spurs classic) was burnt and yet they still serve it to us. Also the steak instead of medium rare it was well done and the steak was tough. The steak was a combo dish with calamari.

We are disappointed at the quality of food serve in SPURS as it was our 2nd time in 4 days as we had our dinner on saturday 25th May 2013, the dishes we ordered were of better quality.

Hope the owner of spurs will take note that although there are no other SPURS in Perth, the attitude we find from the service personnel in the restauramt although friendly but the quality of food prepared b kitchen staff is of inconsistent quality which is the pride and joy of any restauramt and will determine customers to come back on their bext visit.

We had visited numerous SPURS restaurant in Cape Town South Africa , all the restaurant serve better quality food than the one in Mandurah now.

Thank you for your understanding.

Yours sincerely,

SPURS Customer ex PERTH.

Great Experience 11 May 2013. It was a 2 hour drive to get to the Spur in Mandurah. It was well worth the trip as we had a fantastic meal and a friendly waitress.

We were three adults – all ordered the same meals. Crumbed mushrooms to start – glad to recommend these as they were fantastic! Cheddar Melt burgers with mushroom sauce which were finger licking good. We had to ask for doggy bags to take away the leftovers (the servings were huge) as we wanted to keep room for their awesome waffles with maple syrup and ice cream.

We will definitely make the trip again.

Overpriced, unfriendly staff, and horrible food. A couple of things, $11 for vegetables that were supposed to be steamed and smothered in cheese sauce. Received cold hard microwaved vegetables that had to be returned and came back practically no different. The worst thing is that you can't get vegetables with your 40 odd dollar steak, which wasn't rib eye at all. Oh and they charge for the sauce, which brings the cost of a substandard meal close to $50. The kids pizzas were also microwaved McClain style pizzas which I probably paid a fortune for. The staff were absolutely devoid of personality, and the supervisor was really sour faced and didn't smile. Felt like they couldn't wait to get rid of us. Yeah, they have a playground. Big deal so does McDonald's. And the food at McDonald's is better. $250.00 later and I felt ripped off and disappointed. Will never go back. Recommended not wasting your time.

Over Priced!. Yummy flavours, but the steaks are small and the prices are high.
Miss M
Absolutely love this place!. The ribs are fantastic, the best I have tasted. Highly recommend it. I do wish there was one closer to Perth.

Love the pork ribs. Tasty and juicy.

Mandurah disappointed in my steak it was fillet.there was nowhere that saidyou could choose to have marinated steak they ask how you want it cooked came out the steak itself would've been lovely but it was smothered in marinate. I asked for no sauce the marinate was so hot end spicy I can't eat it
So asked if I could get it changed for a steak plain the answer was.
Well we can try and scrape some of marinade off or you cen get a plain steak but we will have to charge you for it
We were a party of five were paying enough as it was. So for $34 I got a plate of chips. As I couldn't eat the steak and they didn't want to help me

There should be a choice of marinated or not. Not happy at all will not go again and very exp
5 people. A meal each a dessert and one drink each. $290 later
Lisa Sutton
Worst food in Mandurah! All positive reviews must be written from people that work at spur. Will never go back, there we're eight of us and not one was impressed with the food.
The Eggspert
Good family restaurant. Been a couple of time to this restaurant. The kids love it. They have a play area and computer games. The ribs are awesome, with the choice of beef or pork. And they can cook a steak the way you ask.
Roger
PATHETICALLY GROSS. Third time there. Food was almost inedible as per other times, but gave them the benefit of doubt to return. Burger patty cooked hours earlier and barely reheated. Burnt one side, hard and dry as the Gibson. A cardboard cut-out would probably taste better. The Caesar salad was seriously lacking in dressing and when I requested a bit extra, well, I seem to have gotten some sugary rendition/excuse of a sauce. YUK!!!
Our waitress was a gem but the other male idiot waiter (the one who got the sauce) needs serious attention to address his bad attitude. Sorry we asked you to do some work whilst there, mate!!
Management..... well none to be seen. I'm all for giving the youth a job, but for goodness sake, have an experienced person there as mentor. The staff on the night looked like they were at their own party!
Go back again.......................NEVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hospitable, zero
Courteous, zero
Food, GARBAGE
Cost, expensive
Return, You gotta be kidding

Beautiful food! I always customize my order here, and it's always perfect. I would drive hours just to go to this place, and that's saying a lot for such a fussy eater! Their prawns are always so juicy and cooked to perfection. Will be coming here for many years to come. Quite well priced as well.
Ace
Dissapointing. My dad wanted a plain steak no seasoning or sauces they said it could be done, however when the steak came it clearly had sauce and tasted spicey. We were told that it had none on it.... when it clearly did! (was dripping orange on the plate)
So we sent it back and decided to just get chips, A little bit later the manger came over to claim once again the steak was not seasoned and we once again told her it was she walked off and we didn't even receive an apology or anything!!!!! Found that to be very rude!! The customer shouldn't be treated like that. Only good thing was they didn't try to charge us for the steak.
The chicken i ordered was very dry and tasteless. Overall a disappointing experience will not be returning.
Toni
Ribs ribs ribs. Delicious!!! Service was excellent. Atmoesphere great for a saturday night
Good Food Gal
Great service, beautiful steak. Very attentive friendly staff and everybody's meals were great. Would def recommend the ribs if you want a change from steak.
Will be coming back again soon with friends and family.
CW
Good service. Had a family dinner here last night. Service was very good - friendly, efficient, and quick. Food was okay but nothing to write home about. (But then I am not a fan of steak houses)
Marisa
We love going to spur and the ribs are fantastic but I did make a suggestion and just wanted to mention it again . Can you get your high chairs with straps please ?? We have a toddler and the last two times have been difficult as she can climb out , I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had this prob . Other than that we love it .
Dianne B Sandilands
Great service always seem to get a table even without a reservation. BEST TASTING RIBS by far. The avocado bacon and cheese burgers are pretty amazing also. Massive portions so come hungry but they also doggy bag left overs. Pretty decent in pricing prefer this hands down over hogs or outback jacks
Brenda Pegrum
In all honesty one of the worst meals I've ever eaten. 4 of us went and not one of us finished/enjoyed our meal at all. The waitress was lovely and the kids area great but that would be all I would recommend about the place. We had meals ranging from nuggets and chips, salt and pepper squid, ribs and chicken schnitzel and we were pretty disappointed that out of all of that we couldn't get one decent meal.
Ryan Smyth
Service and staff were fantastic! An absolute credit to the restaurant. Food was OK, steak was very average. They need to find a new supplier for their meat. Would possibly go again but would give the steak a miss.

Hogs Breathe or this place???. I'd pick this place!

KIds play area with a camera on them from which you can view on their screens, Big meals and nice cocktail selection.... Not bad 7/10

Only reason to go to Mandurah. I Love it here
fabulous ribs!
the service is always great :)
Mads
Service was friendly, food was great! Kids had an awesome time playing in play area. Will definitaly go again.
Jem
Been here many times, never fails to impress. Love the ribs and the onion rings with that cream sauce mmm..mmm..also had the daiquiri and browny for dessert. I guess you just have to know what your ordering, been to Botswana and it tasted the same as here. Well done guys!! Still my fave.
Caroline N Russell
No love!. No love goes into the food here, slapdash, I imagine you would get better in prison...on the brightside the daiquris are good!
Perthmum28
We had a chicken burger and a kids burger meal and they we foul. I'll admit I'm not a great cook but I could of done better at home.
They were cold and dry and way over priced....
Diana
Good food. Thanks for the best ribs in perth, service was great staff was friendly and quick with the service keep up with the good service and Gregg ur the best mate! ! Thanks Diana
Mel
Overpriced. Sorry but will not be returning!! The waitress was lovely but the kids burgers were disgraceful!! A dry pattie in a massive bun!! Hence they didn't eat it. Steak, wasn't bad but way overpriced!! And then to pay for sauce is ridiculous!! Kids eat free.......you can get a combo but on free nights doesn't include drink!!!!hmmmm..... Free????
Houghtan
Excuse me....... Is what we were saying constantly to get someone's attention to order desserts...when we did the girl had to send over a waitress as she couldn't take the order!

Initial service is good, meals arrived in reasonable time despite them being busy for a Wednesday night...food itself was o.k. never gonna be beautifully presented but tasted alright albeit only being lukewarm! However it seems they place so much emphasis on getting the mains out and not following up....took a while for only half our plates to be cleared and then a much longer wait for order desserts....just leaves you disappointed when you get the considerable bill.

Oh and one more thing....$4 for two small pots of tomato ketchup...rip off or what??

Will go back but only cos the kids like it........
Mrs Foodie
Have been here a few times now and out of 5 visits 3 have been good and 2 have been terrible. We normally go here for a family dinner to use the playground for the kids which is great. The latest time we went here for lunch and shared a starter of buffalo wings in BBQ sauce, very cold but tasty, you would think that with use being 1 of the 3 groups of customers in the restaurant that they could atleast get our food to us hot. A friend had the chicken schnitzel which had 2 slices of that ready made cheese on it and hers was cold and soggy. I had the guacamole burger which had a weird off taste to it and again the cheese was a piece of ready sliced cheese sitting on a cold party so it didn't melt. The kids fish and chips was a tiny piece of skinny fish and about 5 chips and surprisingly was the only thing hot ob any of our plates. The service was terrible, the girl was grumpy and rude. It seems the best time to go here is actually on a busy weekend night, you may have to wait for your food but it'll be hot atleast.
Kane
Amazing food, fantastic service and a great range of drinks. Family focused but still awesome for me and my friends.

Too noisy. Food was overpriced and Its not a relaxing place to eat.
The noise from too many people and overly loud MP3 music wasnt nice.
Rossco
Great ribs and burgers and service was excellent so not sure what others experienced in the past. A little pricey but expected for this kind of establishment. Booking recommended as they get very busy even though the place is huge. The kid area is tiny though and nothing special but a nice extra touch. Recommend trying with the family.
Foodie
Very disappointing. The good was average for the price, but the most disappointing part was the service. No welcome or greeting, no 'how is your meal?' Sick of dining out in Perth and going home with a bad taste in your mouth and a dent in your pocket. Very surprised, as the owners are south African- a culture that values good service and hospitality. :(
Janet Williams Eaton
Don't buy the hamburgers or Steak. I was extremely dissappointed with the meal.Hamburgers were close to inedible.
Didn't come with sauce, and they were so dry and tasteless, impossible to eat without sauce.
If they didn't have the childrens play area, I don't think anyone would return for the food.
McDonalds hamburgers are better, cheaper and they have childrens areas too.
Would not go back. Very expensive for crap.
Hungrycaterpillar
I wish this place was in perth! We had a great night. Kids play area was great touch, great steak and kids meals and friendly sevice. Suited our family (3 young kids) perfectly. Did get overcharged 3 drinks which i didnt notice until we'd already left, but otherwise all good.
Emweb
Enjoyable Meal. Visited this restaurant with a group of family and friends (6) and were seated by the window and was soooo hot we asked to be moved - there wasn't even a fan going. The entrees we ordered were fantastic; we had garlic bread, snails and cheesy jalapeno bites (these weren't described very well on the menu, i was confused when they were brought to the table). All the mains were amazing and everyone was pleased. The only disappointment was the sauces that came with the steaks. The pepper was disgusting, couldn't eat it and the garlic sauce had no flavour. Other than that, we loved it. Maybe fries with the steaks though, instead of onion rings?
Bjorn Asblom Ingvarsen
Hmmmm. Started out with the garlic prawns, which were only just warm but flavour was there. Mains we ordered M/R Steaks which in a so called steak house shouldn't be hard.....
BUT.... Apparently it was, even after second attempt they came back what I would call M/W bit of a disappointment! Being starving we eat it but wasn't want we wanted, pepper sauce was just that, quite peppery almost uneatable and fries was well not cooked through.
While food was a big disappointment our waitress was knowledgeable about gluten free items and friendly but with the overall impression..
well can only really rate it a 2 out of 5 and only thanks to the Waitress!!
Jayden Storer
Food was rubbish, and my other half got Coverd in sauce by there untrained waiters, then when paying the bill got told it's only an accident, no its lack of training my friend. Don't go!
Evenstar
We had a great time here, I don't normally eat at steakhouses but perhaps I should. Burgers were excellent as were the baked potatoes. My chicken salad with guacamole was colorful and flavoursome, really great (though unhealthy!) dressing. The service was really attentive without being too in your face. The only downside was the water, it was warm and tasted very chemically but this is only a minor crticism of an otherwise fun resturant.

MANY HAPPY DINING EXPERIENCES AT SPUR. I find it very interesting reading all the reviews
i have a funny feeling those reviews might have be generated by people who may not have eaten there before spur opened in mandurah there was hog breaths i rather not even bother to voive my opinion on hogs breath
i have had the plaesure of dining there many many times and its was an absolute pleasure well as they say one mans meat is another mans poison dont beleive the review give it a go your self
Jessica
Loved it!. 1st time there and definately going back. little bit pricy but well worth it beautiful meals great and friendly staff. soo kid friendly, kids loved thier meals and had a ball. thanx spur for the great night.
Marilize Labuschagne
Satisfied. I've been there twice with my family and had great service and very delicious food both times. I see people say they are overpriced, but I want to disagree, because my bill was the same as what my bill is when we eat at Sizzlers here in Perth... suppose taste and experienced differ...
Puppet
Awful!. What a waste of a wonderful waterfront spot.
Poor quality food, incredibly rude owner/manager team and ridiculously overpriced.

I feel like $100 was stolen from my wallet, it was such an insult to have to pay.

And don't bother speaking to the manager about it, she doesn't care.

Seriously, Mandurah - vote with your feet and get a place like this closed down for good. Ugh!
Rockford
Just don't go. We had lunch for two, both ordered different steaks. They took ages to come out and weren't properly cooked when they did arrive. We were asked about 30 seconds after our plates had been put down if we were happy with our meals and we said we're okay. After the meal we were asked again and we said we weren't that happy with the quality to which the waitress replied "Yeah" and walked away.

We reiterated our complaint to the manager at the front. She asked us what exactly was wrong and when we told her she screwed her face up and essentially ignored us. Basically she waited for us to finish talking so she could hand us our bill for $90 for what was McDonalds quality food (and bad McDonalds at that). Waste of time, waste of money, waste of a meal... go somewhere else.
D
Great food, good playroom for the kids. Fast service and really friendly, helpful staff.
Maggie
Awesome. My parnter and I live about an hour away from Mandurah and are happy to drive the distance just to eat at Golden Cloud Spur. Its such a shame it wasnt closer we would eat there more often. On all the occasions we have been there we have found the food especially the ribs amazing, mouth watering tender and very very tasteful. The service has always been friendly. We love eating there and plan to eat there many more times.. Saturday the 17th of December being our next visit. Mmmm cant wait drooling already. Yummm
Jasmine
Waste of money!! Ordered the porterhouse steak with chips and onion rings. The steak was utter rubbish ! Tougher than old boots and look pretty brown in the middle and not usual pink. It was so tough to chew and even the special sauce that they used to bast it couldn't add taste to the steak. The chips was lukewarm and burnt on sides as they were left on the stove while waiting for the steak to cook. The onion rings was saturated in oil and very greasy to taste. My partner had the fillet steak and that was pretty average. This was very bad so save your money and not waste it here.
Gill Wilson
Food good. Prices not cheap but good size servings. Service poor, very noisy due to poor acoustics in building. A family restaurant and better than HB
Carly
Just had the surf and turf. A+. so good The steak was cooked perfectly.
Seajasper81
Shame that such a great location has gone to such a low class eating place.
Shawn Gutteridge
Family favourite. Been a few times now, last time was fathers day, hadnt pre booked, they found us a table and again the ribs and steak were spot on. Service was really friendly even thou the staff were under the gun. Will be going again without doubt.
Disappointed
Disappointed. Service was great, but the food was overpriced for what it is. The Fillet steak was full of sinew, pepper sauce tasted like flour. The ribs were OK, nothing great.

Coming from South Africa, we were quite excited to give it a try, but we will not being going back.
Roy Edwards
The word 'ordinary' is a compliment. Poor and overpriced food. $142 for 2 people (garlic bread, 1 steak, 1 burger, 5 glasses of wine, 2 desserts and 2 coffees-1 not able to be drunk it was so disgusting). Ponchos, silly hats and a lei (not sure where the lei fitted into this). Having to scrape the remnants of Hot English mustard out of a Masterfoods jar (with someone else's food particles inside). Laughable décor- who doesn't love to sit on vinyl 'cowhide' seating. Punish people who dare to try and supply poor quality to you with your feet walking past their restaurants; THAT is the ONLY way to get quality into Mandurah.
Corinne Jones
Chicken Ribs combo. Great dining experience one i cant wait to repeat with my family. the welcome was warm and friendly and staff were excellent as was the food standard. would gladly reccommend this restraunt for families and friends as it has a child entertainment area so all can enjoy great food in a relaxing atmosphere. definately the best place to eat in mandurah a greatly satisfying experience.

Ordinary. We heard mixed reviews about the place, thus we decided to try it ourselves.

we ordered the snail dish and ironically there's a snail on the salad (alive) We told the waitress, and she did not apologise or offer any compensation.

We ordered surf and turf (with garlic prawn) and rump! It was okay overall, but the garnish (salad) was disappointing and did not look fresh. For the price that we paid, we expected more.

For dessert, we ordered the waffle with banana toppings and it was disappointing. It was a thin piece of waffle with banana syrup (bright yellow) and one scoop of icecream.

the price and quality of food did not match. I would prefer Hogsbreath for its fresher garnish and similar quality of meat and it's cheaper too. Also, they make great desserts!
Rochelle
Yum!. I really enjoyed the food here at Spurs. I went here for dinner with my best friend and her family for her 18th and thought it was real fun.

Portions are absolutely massive, but really are very nice.
Gavin
Accommodated. On the19/07/2011 we stopped at the spur on our way home from holiday, only to find a private function on
180 kids having a ball. Being disapointed I spoke to the owner and he told us to return in about half an hour and he would accommodate us even if he cooks our meal himself, which he did.
There was another lady waiting who in my mind totally lost the plot, threatening facebook reviews and all sorts of threats,What must the poor man do .If you are fully booked ,you are fully booked.

Thanks for a great meal
Antony
Great atmosphere, great staff being all young girls surprisingly very helpfull. Food extremely bland but it seems to go with the whole Mandurah theme, chuck up somewhere for these poor suckers to eat and we can get away with crap. If I compared my ribs with Tony Romas it be 1 for spurs and 9 for Romas.
Le Grand Chef
A stress free meal. . . with children. This is the ideal place for families with young children. The service was exceptional and the food was just as good. The children had their own playground area (there were also tv monitors scattered around the restaurant, so parents could keep on eye on the kids in the play area) and helium balloons brought to the table for the children. The negative points were minor, such as steak knives were blunt and the salad that came with the meal was a garnish and not a salad, hence no need for 2 big bottles of salad dressing on the table.
Nicole Jackson
Great place to take kids, food is pretty good always service with a smile

Fabulous night. We went to spurs lastnight for my birthday we had 14 adults and 5 kids .. We all enjoyed our food , ribs were delish and my hubby is still talking about them I had the bacon cheese guacamole it was yummo .. Generous serves , great atmosphere , kids loved play area, great service they even sang happy bday to me .. My only complaint was the bills couldn't be split right down to couples .. Just meant we had to work it out .. Will go again for sure even wondering if they do take away
Stewart Wimpress
Despite having a kids entertainment area, the overall night at the spur was dissapointing... The food was terrible, overpriced and charged for every little thing... Even going on a kids eat free night, the bill was very high and not worth what we paid for. All in all was very dissapointing and won't be returning in a hurry..
Tameryn Mallett
Dissapointing. I had been looking forward to Spur the whole week as we were taking a drive down to Mandurah, but I ordered the chicken schnitzel (which has been my fav since I was a kid) with mushroom sauce and it came as 2 small chicken breasts fried. It was obviously not a schnitzel and tasted horrible. When I complained all they could say was this is how things are done and Tough Luck basically. The group I was with were also not very satisfied with their ribs/ steaks etc. Its a shame because all the other Spurs do it the proper way and the only one in WA doesn't. Its also way overpriced, which would be fine if you got what you wanted.
Claudiabrannos
Fun night out. I went there with my family one night and the atmosphere was great! My younger daughter loved the indoor playground and it was so good not to worry about them because the had cameras to look at them while you could finish your dinner and catching up with family. I would go back there again in a heart beat! The service was good and my steak came out just the way I liked it, the drinks were good. The only bad thing about the night was it was a bit pricey. Overall fun night out!!!
Carol Engelbrecht
Mrs C Engelbrecht. We went to have lunch there today with great expectations. Stupid us. My friend had told us that the food was not great and I should have listened. We ordered the half rack of ribs and rump steak. My husband ordered well done steak and his was rare inside. The lettuce on both our plates was gritty with sand and when the waitress put the plates down she messed all over the table and my husband. My steak was rare, but tough and tasteless. The ribs were OK, but nothing special. On a brighter note the baked potatoes that we ordered was perfect and the only thing we both enjoyed. They asked us about 3 times in the fist 5 minutes if the food was satisfactory, while were eating our potato and then we never saw them again. Had to call a waitress to get our bill and when we paid we were asked one last time if the food was satisfactory and when I said no and told her about the stead, the lady (? owners wife) was very defensive and said it couldn't be, but that she would let her husband know. No offer of any kind was made and if it was, I would have refused. We traveled for over 2 hours on public transport to have a very unsatisfactory meal that was very expensive. We won't be going again!!!!!!

Yummy Ribs & Steak. We are new to Mandurah and have had a great time sampling some of the local restaurants here in recent months. Really excited to give Spur a go despite some of the nasty reviews on here (and all from posters with only one review who manage to plug the opposition...hmmmm you do the math)

Anyway, since these sites are rife with competitors rubbishing each other I thought I'd make up my own mind about Spur.

The restaurant was busy when we arrived, we had a booking so were attended to and seated quickly near the kids room. Our the little monsters loved that they didn't have to sit still while we waited for the meals to arrive.

The little ones all had kids meals, my only criticism was they were huge portions for kids and they couldn't get through it all. Our meals were huge too, we made quite the pigs of ourselves. I ordered Ribs and the hubby had a steak (Sirloin I think). Couldn't fault the meals or service. Was happy to have a pleasant dinner without the kids complaining about sitting still.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will be back. I suggest you give it a go for yourself and make up you own mind and ignore some of these dubious negative reviews.
Me
Expensive Maccas. Atmosphere was mcdonalds what with kids running around bare feet and plastic playground equipment in the centre of the place thumping against the wall. We went to eat at a resturant not a fast food chain. Prices were very resturant not the fast food.
Could see nothing out over the water and doors were shut on a warm night.
Not impressed even a little bit. Had one drink and left. Meals did look big on other tables though.
Robyn
Good night out with friends & family. We all visited Spurs for the first time last night and had a very relaxing and enjoyable time. The service was great, the food was yummy and affrodable and we would not hesitate in going there again and I will tell all my friends about it. Keep up the good work guys.
Jamee Hardey
They sung me happy birthday haha good enough. Food was awesome
Daniel
Don't believe the reviews. Had I read the bad reviews before I made the reservation, I would probably not have gone. We did end up going after all, and was very pleasantly impressed with good service and meals almost exactly how I remember it from way back. I had the lazy aged steak and this was excellent! I will be going again.
Thetwoofus
Treated like DIRT. This was the worst dining experience I have ever had! My husband, daughter and I were the only clients in the restaurant at the time (others came slightly later) and yet the waitress still managed to forget we were there for the next 30 mins. We were about to leave, when she appeared. She took our orders without a note pad or electronic device (in other words by memory) we waited another half an hour to get our meals, MINUS the ordered entree (which should have come earlier). Our steaks were well done instead of medium, we complained, and we were offered another meal, but we explained we didn't want to wait another half an hour for new meals. We felt as if we were interrupting the social hour of the wait staff and chefs!! We called the manager and complained about our treatment (especially the incident of the waitress not caring enough to even bother taking our order properly, HOW SLACK!) he offered us a voucher for "next time" we said "no way will there be a next tiime", so then he offered us our drinks free. I slapped the cash down on the counter and left. Atrocious people! The manager told me to "have a nice day" and I said "YEAH..." and stormed out.
Vickyharris
Good All rounder!. I've eaten at this restaurant a few times and I've been pleased with every meal I've had there. The service is also really good. The views of the foreshore are lovely and they have a play station for the kids, with TV monitors around the restaurant so you can watch the kids play. Excellent value for money. Happy customer :)
Ian
No problems with our meal - food was great and the service was good...looking forward to going back.
Nathan
Never again. We ordered takeaway and on the phone was told it would be 20mins. An hour later I got my order. I was asked 3 times if I was being looked after, and each of those people disappeared and never came back to tell me what was going on.
Got home, my baked potato was rubber on the outside, without the sour cream I requested. My fiance asked for no salad on the burger - she got salad! We rang and complained and the response we got about the potato was 'It was cooked before dinner service.' They open at 5pm and I got my order at 8.45pm. Thats a near 4hr old potato!!!

It just seemed very arrogant by the manager to assume that they did nothing wrong. We definitely wont be going back, generally it was a big letdown

SPUR has Rotten Service. 2 adults and 2 children, Price - $106.40, 12 Feb 2011
We ordered and waited an hour for our meal. Another family came in after us and received and ate their meal and left and we were still waiting, patiently! The waitress was very apologetic and said they were very busy but we were next in line. My husbands meal arrived with the mushroom sauce I had ordered. After another 10 min I received my meal. When my meal arrived it was not what I had ordered. I received overdone crispy crumbed quid instead of salt and pepper squid. When I cut my steak, it was still raw inside. We had both ordered medium to well done. We complained to the waitress and showed her the steak. She said she would speak to the manager to see what can be done for us and dissappeared. Eventually we asked for the bill and my husband went to pay. He complained to the cashier who blamed the waitress because she was new. An expensive mistake going there. Thanks for nothing Spur. We are great on service...I reccommend SPUR to go to HOGS Breath to learn how its done!

We had a fillet mignon and a fillet steak. Both badly under cooked. Looked like 18 year olds in the kitchen. Management very apologetic and nice to talk to.
Andremu
Awful ribs - how is it possible to serve ribs that only one half of is marinated, while the other end is plain? The cheddamelt steak was scorched and bitter. Disappointing.
MVP
Ribs were terrible. How can a Rib joint do ribs so badly ? they were dry, overcooked and tasteless. The chicken was even worse - even our kids wouldn't eat it and that's saying something. Real shame because they spent a bit of money on it and its decked out like a real family restaurant. Pity about the food.

LOVED IT. Went on the 30th of September 2010. Pleasantly surprised. We arrived a few minutes after it had opened, and were greeted by a very nice lady who took us to a large booth, it was myself, my husband and 5 year old daughter. A waitress attended to us immediately for drinks and was very friendly. They arranged for our daughters meal to come out with the entree, we did not have to ask for this. Crayons and a colouring sheet was bought to the table for our daughter was well. The childrens area may not be huge but it kept her entertained all night, some climbing equipment, 3 playstations, she loved it. Our meals came out quickly and were hot. The steak and ribs that my husband ordered was huge, when the menu said 250g meat and half serve of ribs we were expecting half of a half of one side of ribs, no, he got a huge serving of ribs, a full rack, the full ribs must be huge. They were cooked perfectly and the meat just fell off the bones.I ordered the surf and turf and was surprised that I got 7 large prawns on my plate, never had that many anywhere else. Both our steaks were cooked the way we asked, the cuts were large, thick and tender. We were asked for drinks often and well looked after. The restaurant was very clean, the bathrooms were spotless. We had a lovely night out and will easily go again. The prices are a bit pricey, the same as Hogs Breath, but the amount of food we received and the service, we could not complain. The kids meal options is the best I have seen. We really enjoyed our time there.

Not Impressed. For our 3 year Wedding Anniversary, we drove well over 100ks (one way) to eat at the Golden Spur in Mandurah. My husband is South African and has fond memories of this food from his home. Totally not impressed. We were put at a table for two stuck in the far corner of the restaurant in a space that was hardly big enough for one chair - and then totally forgotten about while two other tables seated after us were waited on, received their drinks and their appetizers. My husband finally got up and spoke to one of the employees. We were then waited on .. the food was WAY overpriced for what it was. After our meal was over, I was in the ladies room while my husband paid. Once we were half way back home (almost an hour away from the restaurant). I asked him how much the bill was .. he said $140!!! Well, we are small people .. he had one beer and I had a glass of wine, so I asked if I could see the receipt. We were charged for a different table, party of 5 .. not even our own meal!! We did phone, they did recalculate our bill and sent us a refund cheque for the difference. What a nightmare. Yes, we weren't out of pocket in the end .. but that was the first AND last time we will travel that distance .. and unfortunately, we won't recommend this restaurant. There was no customer service, no apologies .. not worth the trip. Go local .. go to Hog's Breath .. the food is much better and service is RIGHT on!! Sorry guys.

Big Tex

Golden cloud spur steak ranch. What a dissapointment. they show customers the door if they not well prepared. we drove from perth to have lunch there and they would not ven try to accomodate or serve us. just showedn us the door. why not ask us to come back in15 minutes. this will never happen anywhere else. we know the spur from south africa and these people need to go back to learn how to treat customers. don't waste your time going there

Love this resturant, have gone many times & am crazy about the ribs! Service is friendly & attentive. Only thing is last 2 times there was hardly any sauce on the ribs, next time will ask for extra sauce. Recommend for families or for meat lovers.

Best Ribs Ever!. It is about time Mandurah had a decent family friendly restaurant. We took our 5 and 7 year old kids here last weekend and were blown away by what a great experience we had. Great food, great service and a fun atmosphere. The kids combo meals were great value for money and we were able to relax and enjoy our evening in peace while the Kids played in the play area which was the best we have seen. We ordered the Ribs, they were fall-off-the-bone FANTASTIC. Will be back for sure. Make sure to book, this place is always full, no wonder - the experience was top notch.

Been there twice... Don't know why I went the second time. Trying to rip off another steak house (Hogs Breath) and have done a poor job at it. Food expensive, tasteless and service unattentive.... Don't go there

Very American Ranch Style. Serves are large. Lots of sauce or dressing which isn't my style but wait staff were very open to variation to meals so I was able to get what I wanted. Lunch on a Sunday during school holidays was busy and noisy as you would expect.Still got good service. Good family style restaurant. Not where I would go for a quiet meal.

The menu caters for all tastes and ages, burgers, steaks, surf & turf to some rather yummy salads.

Even though I tried to preserve space by choosing the ice tea instead of a strawberry milkshake, I could only fit two thirds of my pork ribs and half of my chips so burger boy finished mine off too…
