Review Hog's Breath Cafe - Mandurah

I am a big fan of Hoggies Mandurah normally, but was really underwhelmed by the value for money... $14 potatoe skins buys you 4 tiny shriveled pieces with one piece looking like someone took a bight out if it, we didn't (see photo) chicken parmy..$27 buys you two good sized but thin pieces, with only one piece having the thin bland sauce and very little cheese on it, I have bigger better parmies at other venues for $20... the service is good and friendly though. The menu choices has reduced since a month ago... I think Hogs Breath as a whole had lost that real value and choice it once had... Rockingham seems the same.. Won't be returning in a hurry for the parmy or the skins anymore sorry unless you improve your attention to detail 🙁

Very enjoyable Hickory Rib Steak with curly fries . Aussie Mango and Passionfruit Mess for dessert. Restaurant was clean and tidy and not too busy for 6pm on a Friday night.

It was only ok and kids meals were free. They did replace meal after first lot of ribs sent back due to being practically inedible but will not be returning.

First time at hogs breath and it was amazing. Staff are super friendly and food was perfect. 10/10 would recommend!

Well we were starving and still didnt touch but returned these yummy looking steaks. Why??? The very worst ever customer service experience in our lifes! We were so upset we left without touching the mains. The shift manager almost spoiled our 11st anniversary. The starter and kids meal were yummy though. And the owner and operation manager were making up for it BIG TIME. Hence 2 stars instead 0. Previous experiences at Hogs Breath Mandurah were lovely. So guess the staff just had a V-E-R-Y bad day!

Steak was great, kids meals were great too. Cooked perfectly. They struggled to get the food to the table at the same time. A decent 30 min wait between first meals and last meals. Other than that, I thought it was good.

If I could give minus stars I would be, I don't ever write negative reviews so here goes my first one. I have lovely memories going to hogs breath growing up in mandurah and since moving back I'd been looking forward to taking my own kids in. We ordered our food and then I went to use the bathroom, that's when I noticed the cleanliness of hogs breath now. I don't believe those bathrooms had been cleaned all weekend or in the previous week. The kids both got pasta that looked like it was poured straight out of a tin! They ate a very small amount. Us 2 adults went all out with the duo steak and ribs combo. Neither of us could eat it, we both ate all the salad but that's it. A few bites of the meat but it was so awful. So all up there were 4 basically full plates left at the table, no one meal checked, no one said anything when they saw the plates full of food still, not even when we went to pay did the man ask how was our experience. I am so disappointed, 150 less in the bank for that! I won't be back ever!

Went there for me and my partners anniversary, couldn’t have asked for better service, and the food! Oh god the food! Steak that just melts in your mouth as well as the barra, I was expecting good food but the meal we got could not have been better. Thankyou hogs breath �

Went for lunch today with my wife first time at Hog's bit disappointed ordered an Aussie Steak burger not sure what the wife ordered but took forever to be prepared. After like 40 minutes wife asked me if we had been forgotten as other who arrived after us had their food. As for Aussie steak burger at just under $24 steak was very hard to find like a wafer salad was fresh and plentiful chips were great as for tomato sauce I asked for none that I could find. Started eating second half of burger and openned up as I could not even detect any steak, was there but not enought to detect above the salad if you buy a steak burger you should be able to taste the steak. First trip most likely last trip to Hog's

Ordered the Aussie steak burger and sweet potato wedges. Everything was stone cold. To the point the burger wasn't even edible. Only given a 2 star rating as the waitresses were very lovely. Thankfully they did correct it and made me a new one

Went for our sons 7th birthday with 9 adults and 6 kids and the service was bad. After being seated we waited over 15 minutes just to order drinks that took just as long to be brought to the table. Eventually a half hour later we got to order our meals. An hour and 15 minutes passed by now and 1 kids meal is brought out to be eaten before any of the other kids got served. Adult meals started coming out and still no kids meals( nuggets an chips, fish an chips) not that complicated. We were given a reason that they could only do 6 meals at one time. Managed to get a second round of drinks just before the meals were finished. The kids meals eventually came out at different times and the last of the adult meals. The meals were good, but the service and organization was crap. Wont be going back to Hogs Breath Mandurah again.

Caeasar salad was so wet and had been sitting in box so long it fell through the cardboard bottom, the 6 calamari pieces were 5 and a clump of fried breadcrumbs, the steak and veg was cold

Hogs Breath used to be the talk of the town. Hole the food is still satisfactory, the service is most certainly appalling. We waited 1.5 hours for our food to arrive (with hungry children at the table mind you) and everyone had something negative to say about their meal. Steak was a little dry, food a bit cold, "you call that a salad?" Things like that. I could have gotten better food for the same price at a much higher class restaurant in less time than that. It wasn't even busy. It was lunch time and the restaurant was only at half capacity, if that...<br/><br/>Edit: my entire family ended up with gastro.

Hogs Breath used to be the place to be. Although the food is still satisfactory we waited 1.5 hours for our food to arrive at lunch time on a Sunday and the restaurant was only half occupied. This service is most certainly unacceptable. I can get better food for the same price significantly faster at 4 or even 5 star restaurant.

Ohhh Hoggies, why oh why did you change your menu. I was so looking forward to one of your beautiful steaks with some fresh veg. It just wasn’t the same without some veg. Very friendly staff that work hard but don't seem to keep up with taking orders in a reasonable amount of time.<br/><br/>Food comes out fairly cold and could definitely be warmer. Sometimes I never get asked if I want to order a dessert so I leave without purchasing dessert.<br/><br/>In all, it's not a bad spot for the family.

For the unfortunate individual(s) that encounter this place; good luck walking out with a smile. Nice waitress however the food that came out was atrocious. My partner ordered the rib fillet steak. What came out was a ruined piece of meat which hardly resembled a steak in which LITERALLY had no seasoning... also, the 'fresh' vegetables tasted weird and were clearing frozen, along with the weird tasting mash potato. My boring 'paradise burger' came out with a cold patty as well as stone cold curly fries. Thought it was a one off chance the last time we went, however, we definitely know it's the negligible chefs that refuse to cook a steak less than medium. You're better off going to Murphy's Irish Pub up the road.

This Hogs Breath store lets the Hogs Breath chain down. It was so disappointing I would urge everyone to avoid this store. Plenty of other restaurants in Mandurah who care about their customers. Rude blonde waitress with a stinky attitude on the till. Particularly disappointed given I am a long term Hogs Breath customer and have frequented many Hogs Breath stores across Australia.

Went here on a Friday night for a mates b'day party. On our table there was 13 people. As it was a Friday is was very busy, and being a family style restaurant it was quite loud as well, nothing you wouldn't expect however. The table service was ordinary as we had a trainee serving us. Probably not the best option given how big our party was. The wait staff gave us a numbering system to make service smoother, however later found out that the meals were all mixed up. Getting extra drinks was also quite a mission. It seemed like there were staff running all over the place and couldn't keep up with the customers demand, and it didn't help given the line at the POS machine for the wait staff to enter the orders (maybe purchase another machine?). Of the two children at our table, only one of them received their kids meal. I ordered the mega cut steak and rib combo. Ive never been a huge fan of the steaks at hogs breath, the ribs were well cooked, however the steak was over cooked. Given the price of the meal, and the service, cant see myself coming back anytime soon.

What a nightmare!Firstly, the waiter was lovely - a few hiccups but nothing major.The manager however....what.a.moron.My brother ordered a Steak cooked 'Medium', it came Medium/Well (more on the well done side) so he sent it back. $49 for a steak and you expect it cooked properly. When he sent it back with the waiter, shortly after, the manager returns to the table - WITH THE STEAK, and questions my brother. Says he can cook it more - it was already over cooked.Then accuses us of being cheap and stands at the counter openly talking about us!

If I could give it a 0/5 rating I would! <br/><br/>My two friends and I booked a table for 3 on December 29th at 7:30pm for my birthday dinner. We arrived at 7:20pm and were in our booth seconds after. There was a fair few people in the restaurant but mainly all were eating. By 7:50pm, not even one waitress/waiter stopped by our table to ask us if we'd like to order, although 5 different staff members walked past and looked at us, sitting waiting with menus in hand. Other people got seated after us and served instantly. <br/><br/>After getting sick of waiting, I finally caught attention of waitress Ellie and asked if after about 35 minutes of sitting someone would finally take our order- she did so instantly and was very remorseful about our wait. <br/><br/>Our entree and drinks came out, very nice but unfortunately when our mains came out we hardly indented in our plates. <br/><br/>I ordered a prawn and steak combo with baked potato and vegetables, what I received was a steak (60% just fat), no prawns, an overcooked potato and stale vegetables. <br/><br/>My friend ordered a chicken parmigiana, what came out was a lump of cold chicken with tomato paste slapped on top with grated cheese - she was below satisfied and left starving. My other friend ordered a caesar salad wrap and ate half, leaving the other half because it tasted 'off'. <br/><br/>Never have I ever been so upset and angry with service in any establishment. As a hospitality worker myself I don't believe in talking down establishments but this place is a complete and utter joke, not to mention a waste of money. <br/><br/>$70 of uneaten food and not a care from any staff.

Haven't been to Hog's Breath Cafe for a long time now but a recent visit proved that the steak there is still very good! It was tender and melted in the mouth, I was quite surprised! The crumbed mushrooms and avocado salad was great as well!

Top Restaurant prices average food. Dont know why this place is always busy, yeah kids eat free but even if adults did too we wouldn't be going back, great service though the guys with the beards well done. Nice venue just crappy food

Bad Chef Worst steak's ever. And im a Chef. First steak was large and well done. I ordered M/Rare x 4. Second steak was 1c. Thick and I know they played soccer with it in the kitchen and their was more fat in it then meat x 4 steaks. I have eaten in every Hogs Breath in Australian and I will never eat at Mandurah again. The sad part is 8 dishes came to the table and ee sent them back and left, and we still had to pay for them. Stay clear.

Breakfast 21st Nov. The worst I have ever had. Every thing was cold the eggs were like rubber,it took 45 mins to get served.

Dinner fri 14/11. Couldn't fault the food or service. Pleasantly surprised after reading the reviews, but looks like they gave lifted their game.

The only good thing about going there tonight was the company at my table...!!! Very disappointed with the food and service, the prawns were dirty and still had poo in them...the wait staff made lots of silly mistakes and were more interested in their costumes for Halloween than the service they were providing...wont be going back there again.!!!!!!!!!!

Terrible night. Arrived to a nearly empty restaurant - our party of five made it around 20 customers. Ordered food and drinks - food slow - asked waitress to take drinks order - got a very curt " Wait" reply.<br/>Ordered drinks - pretty simple -2 ciders 2 Corona's 1 with lime 1 with lemon and a softie - Coronas arrived without lime or lemon. Food finally arrives - minus 1 meal - that's right - on a night where staff very nearly outnumbered customers they forgot to prepare one of our dishes.<br/>Despite being given vouchers for discounts in future, will never go back - wish facebook had an unlike button.

Service getting better. I've only been there a handful of times because the service was pretty poor, but last few times I've been there we have had excellent service. The only problems we had were the drinks were very slow coming out. Apart from that the staff were friendly and the food was excellent.

Absolute rubbish. We went here last night with two children.<br/><br/>My wife is vegetarian and ordered the veggie potato skins and was given some with ham that she took a bite out of! It was quickly rectified but she did explain before ordering.<br/><br/>The replacements were dry and were left uneaten.<br/><br/>I had a steak which I can only say was absolute rubbish. It was 60% fat and overcooked. There wasn't much food on the plate, it resembled a kids meal. The vegetables were undercooked to the point of being raw ( and I like mine with a bite). The garlic bread wasn't as good as you buy in Coles in the foil. <br/><br/>My son's fish and chips was dry and overcooked.<br/><br/>Overall very disappointing. We've been here before and it's been ok but I will not visit again. Definitely a complete waste of money.<br/>I would have complained but we'd had a traumatic day and we'd initially gone there to celebrate some good news. What a joke that was.<br/><br/>McDonalds would have been better presented and cooked.

We've been there today for lunch. Arrived just after 12pm with two very hungry young kids. Normally it doesn't take more than 15-20 min for our meals to be served. Unfortunately it was 12:50pm and we didn't have anything but a beer on our table. Just to find out after a couple of complains our order hasn't been printed so it wasn't ready! Shame on you Hogs Breath, check your printers! With two restless and very tired toddlers finally by 1pm we had the kids meals and 10mins later our mains. Not a happy costumer here!

Good value especially with kids eating free. Steaks were very tender. Good atmosphere.

Awesome night. Just been down to the Hogsta with the family and friends. It was spot on. I had the mixed grill tower for two and loved it. Service was great. It was my sons 5th b/day and waitress sang happy birthday with family which he thought was great. I'd recommend to anyone. A trick would be to go on a weekday as I think weekends would be a bit cramped for room.

It's been ages since I've been to Hogs Breath but rediscovered whilst I was pregnant (crazy craving). So glad we went! Of course total value for money. Great family atmosphere. Food to a very acceptable level. It will become a regular again.

Hmmm.... Went with some friends for an evening meal. Despite booking ahead was told there was no table for us. After a wait next to the bar jammed in like sardines we were ushered to a table too small for our group, necessitating an extra chair be added on the side which blocked a thoroughfair with my friend being knocked by people passing by all night.<br/><br/>After a wait of half an hour, a waitress took our drinks order, then headed off in the opposite direction of the bar. Drinks arrived half an hour later and finally an hour after arriving they took our order. Food arrived in a staggered fashion with some nearly finished their meal before others arrived. I ordered my steak medium rare and got well done and the calamari was a similar quality of that one finds in the frozen food section of woolies...disgusting.<br/><br/>To add insult to injury we had to queue for twenty minutes just to pay our bill and get out.

Steak came out cold, not just mine but 3 out of the 7 meals. Service very average try to wave someone down and they look the other way. I have say that i think the ladies name is Sam was the only helpful and energetic person there the rest might as well stayed in bed. If they can get the food out hot and some more helpful staff then I'd consider coming back here.

Never again go to hogs breath.The hickory ribs tasted like carboard.We waited for over 2 hours for our food and the service well the service their wasnt any.I wont even go ther if i got it for free.Their was 6 of us and we all agreed that it was just shocking from food to service.

Our experience could have been a complete disaster if it wasnt for our happy bubbly waitress after my steak was recooked 3 times and after 2 others on my table recooked to which we ordered who went above and beyond to forfill our expectations in which we pay good money for and make our night at hogsbreath delightful and memorable now we will come back again thanks to crystal thankyou for our great night in the end

I went to hogs breath cafe in Mandurah a couple of weeks ago and had the worst service ever!!! Although the food was fine, the service made me never want to go back there again. After being seated we waited for 20 minutes before we were asked to place our orders and this was only after I called a waitress over. This unfortunately included the drink orders too. We waited over 50 minutes for our meals and when rhey were brought out there was no apology offered for its lateness, Infact no mention of it at all. While eating out meals the waitress did not come and check if the meals were ok nor did anyone come and offer us more drinks. I eventually got up and walked to the bar to order a drink. When I did this, i saw 6 waitress' standing around talking at a table. After our meals were taken we wanted to order desert but the waitress did not come over and offer us any nor did she collect our plates. We stayed at the resturant talking for close to an hour after we finished eating and the plates were still there when we left. The worst part about it all is it was not busy. They had about four tables of people, none of which were big and they had about 8-10 staff on. They had absolutely no excuse for their slack service. I WONT BE GOING BACK AGAIN!!!

Awesome. Ive eaten at many hogs and have alway found excellent value for money and great food. it seems that many diners are all too quick to be negative. and what a sad reflection that people feel the need to brag about it on the net. <br/>Whenever i have a problem i give the restaurant the courtesy of explaining my concerns so at least they have an opportunity to correct it - <br/>I love Hogs breath - my kids love it and i would nt hesitate telling everyone about it.

Dont order the special. Don't order the steak salad lunch special..disgusting.

Awful. Waited over 1 hour 15 mins for our meals. One very over cooked steak, with the wrong side order, over done chicken that physically could not be cut with a steak knife (not a exaggeration), another hard as anything chicken that i couldn't actually cut for my niece, it tore apart into chunks. Then i didnt receive my meal at all,so asked where mine was, took 15 mins to come out. so after everyone had finished their meals, it finally comes burnt in the middle, tastes horrilbe, totally horrible. . and when i asked why it didnt come, somehow they didnt know. Out of 6 meals, 5 were uneatable, worst meal i have ever had.

Ordered nachos and received something we could have made better at home, staff kept bugging us if we were finished or not when we were barely halfway through the meal.

Affordable family dining. We went to Hog Breath on New Years Eve with our 3 children (the eldest is 7). The kids were given colouring in, which they loved. Service was excellent and couldn't fault my ribs. My husbands vegies were just average but my daughter enjoyed her kids steak. We received 2 free kids meals and when we paid we were charged for the cheapest kids meal - something unheard of where we live. Cocktails and Redback beer were extremely affordable. For a family on a budget, use to rip-off average food in Karratha, we thought it was excellent!

Took a very long time just to get the drinks out then even longer to get food out. Ordered medium steak got medium rare. Overall was pretty disappointing

Monumental muckup!. We arrived, were shepherded to our table then immediately asked for our menu choice - no time to look at the menu. We ordered 3 childrens meals and a tower to share for my husband and I. They seemed confused that we would want 3 childrens meals when we only had two children with us and seemed to question us at every turn. Our daughter doesn't find one meal enough, so we order two for her ... simple! <br/>The childrens meals came out almost straight away but the children had finished eating and were sitting around waiting whilst we still waited for our meal. There was no cutlery brought out with any meal and we had to ask for it. The tower consisted of steak that was so tough that we spent a very uncomfortable night picking bits out of our teeth, ribs that were mainly gristle and small helpings of salad and curly fries (which our still hungry children ate before we could get to them). The lamp cutlets were, however, very nice. The price of the tower included two sauces and at the end of the meal we were charged for them despite the menu saying they were a part of the deal.<br/>We ordered desert as none of us were full. The childrens "sundaes" were ordered whilst we were still eating our main but never arrived. Our deserts were ordered and arrived and we still had to chase up the childrens deserts. Even then, they brought two sundaes out, not the three that went with the three kids meals! We had the same problem with the children's drinks - they insisted we only needed two!<br/>All in all, they were disorganised, the food was horrendous, the service was slow and they didn't seem to know how to cope with something slightly different to the norm. <br/><br/>It was definitely NOT worth the drive to Mandurah. We will be going back to Rockingham from now on as it is 1000% better.

Love going to Hogs Breath. One of myself and my friend's favourite casual dining places. The steaks and hog tail fries are terrific, as is the service.

Waitress thought it was appropriate to tell me that coke is used to clean toilets whilst serving it to me

The service was a little random, but the steaks, ribs and burgers were pretty dawn good. Highly recommend.

Ho-hum...... We have been there several times and had various results from the place each time. Good service, ignored and (possibly the worst of all) 4 different waiting staff wanting to take our order (no coordination there). I LOATHE the poor dress sense this restaurant believes "adds" to their nondescript atmosphere. Often good steaks, but NOT always. 2nd to last time the 'steak' simply fell apart into MINCED MEAT; we gave them back, received a possible apology and a discount. I do not like the 'scruffy look' when paying over $100 for a lunch for 2 people. Sadly, like all restaurants nowadays, the waiting staff are badly trained: you do NOT remove ANYTHING off a plate when ANY of the people at that table are STILL EATING!. You may believe you are doing the people a favour, making room, you are NOT.
