Review Garfish - Manly

Hans Schlupp
For years Garfish has been a stable for great fresh seafood in Manly, great service, good wine and an ever changing menu. I found a new favorite in the King Prawn Softshell Tacos next to the Snapper Pie and it has all the markings to become even better. I would hope they can widen the Tacos into more choices, they are well worth a try.

Super disappointed after being very excited to go. My husband and I booked NYE dinner here 2021, Booking was for Live music and 3 course set menu.. We arrived... the place was very quiet but relatively full of people, and when I say quiet I mean you can hear a pin drop. the singers were on a break which is fine but the mood on entry in the place was incredibly boring and dull, It seemed like we heard the singers maybe half an hour out of our of the 2 hour seating. we were seated behind a large pole (okie dealt with it). The starter bread was not nice at all, the entree of ravioli was not nice, the mains (fish was ok) the ribs though, the waiter told us they were slowed cooked for hours... absolute rubbish, the amount of FAT on it was such poor quality. We left the chewed up fat on the plate. For $180 per person, we left hungry in fact starving. We did raise this with management on the night. He offered a $14 glass of wine complimentary. I sent an email while I was there, no response. Look, the staff were lovely, the worst $360 we have ever spent. I feel like in this review I can't even express ow awful the experience was for the over priced outing we got charged. Do yourself a favour save your money and don't waste the experience, One of my favourites on the northern beaches is Barrenjoey boat house at palm beach! or the skiff club in manly Similar pricing but worth every cent. unlike Garfish Manly. $360 in the toilet. Really garfish should be returning our money, I haven't asked for it back I left that up to them to decide. but I as a business owner no way would I let my clients experience this nor would I have the hide to charge the money. I repeat they have not even responded to my email, which id be more then happy for you to screen shot and ad to this response to show how I have approached the situation. But each to there own. Im here just sharing a poor experience. which clearly they couldn't' care less. UPDATE to your reply (9.1.22) I appreciate your reply Danen, however I haven't complained about staff shortage. the food was awful so in your response to me, it sounds like your using COVID as an excuse for poor quality food, are you telling me that $360 isn't enough to cover quality food? Correct me if I'm wrong? The place was full it wasn't empty. Any way I will continue to check me emails. we're at day 9. Garfish Manly were pretty quick to reply to my emails for the booking. And we couldn't move seats as we were advised they were fully booked. So on assumption they've seen my email and chosen not to reply

I came to Garfish for an anniversary. Lovely atmosphere, lovely staff, lovely drinks. Food was great, would highly recommend the octopus. The desserts were fantastic! we even got to eat one of the pastry chefs on the night. Unfortunately I can’t give 5 stars as the prawns in the Prawn Tacos still had their tails and it was quite the unpleasant experience. Will definitely be coming back

First day open after Covid lockdown! Staff were super attentive, energised, professional and happy to be there. Started with fried stuffed zucchini flowers and salt and pepper squid with chili jam. Both served piping hot and were great. Main courses of lobster and wood-fire barramundi with matching wines. The lobster was cooked perfectly and a side of lemon-butter allowed seasoning to taste. Dessert was the WolF honey and white chocolate parfait - made with honey from the chef's own local hive including some small pieces of honeycomb - delicious. Also traditional sticky date pudding served in its own mini copper saucepan with icecream - very hearty. All in all, a perfect performance and fabulous way to celebrate at the end of this lockdown!! Garfish retains its reputation as the best seafood location in Manly in my books.

Garfish was delicious as always. Never fails to impress. We came in today last minute and we had such a wonderful lunch. The prawn tacos were exceptional. Thank you Narelle for looking after us and the great service.

Definitely one of the best places in Manly. From fantastic cocktails through fresh seafood to super friendly and experienced staff. Thank You Veronica for looking after us, We will be back again...

Our local favourite for sure. We just love the freshness of the food (the Oyster platter is amazing) and the service is GREAT which is not always the case today (since everyone is struggling with staff as we know). I would say its Manly best venue- consistent great location and awesome service.

Went for lunch today and had a lovely experience. The food was just divine and our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive. We shared a main salt and pepper calamari which stayed very true to its roots and was perfectly cooked. Mains were the large Morton Bay bugs and the Sri Lankan curry. Bugs cooked over coals are always brilliant and the curry was complex with an adequate level of heat. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be back. We did come back to have the seafood platter - yum. Photos added.

Absolutely delicious!

This is the second time we are here.
Oysters, zuchinni flowers and calamari for entre, all fresh and done well.

Snapper pie for main. It’s a must try at Garfish. Rich, creamy and filled with chunky snapper fillet. Can’t go wrong with that.

Drinks list also extensive, perfect for long lunches.

Nothing to be excited about. Everything seemed ok just no surprise at all. I ordered the linguine with crab. I believe I can find better $40 pasta in anywhere.

Settled in Garfish for lunch after reading great reviews about its seafood. Restaurant certainly lived up to expectation! We ordered:

- Crisp fried zucchini flowers filled with snapper & king prawn
- Wood fired Moreton bay bugs
- Fish and chips

Best meal we had in Sydney so far. Fantastic meal in a lovely and clean restaurant. Shoutout to the service staff for the fantastic service.

We waited 1.5hrs for a table and about 40 minutes for mains... they were very apologetic but it was just too long. For entree we ordered the burrata and calamari. The burrata was yummy and had pieces of honeycomb with it which I loved. The calamari was also lovely.
For mains, we ordered the steamed salmon and crab pasta. The salmon was quite overcooked and bland unfortunately... the crab pasta was delicious and tasty though.

Such a great place and location in Manly. Book in advance for a table by the window looking over the harbour. Service is always immaculate and the menu is so good. You can’t go wrong with any of the fish and they always pair it with a great wine. If you arrive early you can sit in the alfresco bar section and have a cocktail too.

The happy hour deal here is amazing - $6 for house wine or spirits, from 4-6 PM everyday. We came here for drinks after walking around Manly during the weekend and managed to get a table in the bar section with a great view of the harbour. Our server was attentive and friendly, and we really enjoyed her service. Upon her recommendation of the bar menu, we ordered the salt and pepper squid. Unfortunately we had given another server our order and he misplaced it, which ended up in quite some time before us sorting out the issue. Our server apologised profusely even though it was not her fault to begin with. The squid was really tender and tasty. It came with chilli jam and instead of overpowering the freshness of the squid, the chilli jam enhanced the flavour and added a zest to the dish. Overall very enjoyable experience and the happy hour is a must go over the weekend if you happen to be in the area.

This really is an excellent restaurant. Not my first visit but a return meal this week confirms my opinion of it. Bright and airy; overlooking the beach near the ferry wharf.

A very well thought out menu with excellent seafood dishes, plus enough meat dishes for those that can't eat seafood. Good wine list and interesting cocktail list. Plus they do a very reasonable prix fixe menu for $40 Monday to Friday. Two courses and a glass of wine.
Excellent and knowledgeable staff.

Photos show the following dishes:

Smoked mackerel tartare with celeriac and burnt butter emulsion. Best fish tartare I've had.
Fish and chips. Using rockling, very moist.
Boarfish with ratatouille style vegetables.
Pork cutlet with mash and spinach.
Kaffir lime and lemongrass panna cotta with lychee sorbet and sesame snap. Superb.
Katrina
Visited recently for lunch on the weekend and the food is sensational. The oysters are really fresh, the snapper pie had a delicious puff pastry and was filled to the brim with cream and snapper, and the cauliflower gratin is to die for. Will definitely be back!

Seriously good seafood and one of the best gluten free menus around from entrees through to the beer list. Well worth a look at any of their 3 locations around Sydney, however Manly has the views!!

We were a group of 7 and arrived 20 min late to our reservation. Even though the place was packed, the staff were nice enough to accommodate us in good seating. We ordered a variety of starters and fish from the menu. I had the signature fish pie and my partner had the signature fish and chips. Those were ok, but were a little bland. We both felt a bit off after the fish and chips. The wine and beer selection were great and the general atmosphere was great.
Hady Taha

Had the fish and chips and it wasn't too bad at all. I reckon it could be a bigger serving given the price. A good place to take your family out for a nice dinner.
Alex
Took family there for Father's Day. Great entrees but really average mains. For the price you pay the food isn't anything to write home about which was surprising considering the reviews, and to add insult to injury the portions were small. It's not a good feeling when you've paid $570 for six adults and child and all leave only somewhat full and barely satisfied. Also the 10% service fee at the end of it really didn't help.

I had the prawns which were oddly hard to peel and "300g" of prawns equals about 6-7 medium sized prawns. Service was okay but because so many people are crammed in one place they seem very rushed, but they were nice and checked in on the table frequently.

The "shared bread platter" (the bigger option of the two) is only three slices of two types of bread cut in half to give you six pieces, not sure why the waiter recommended this as there was seven people at the table.

Cocktails and drink service speed was good.

In short, you're paying for the nice venue and the nice view. I was there on a Sunday evening, not sure if this makes a difference? Maybe it's better on a Friday or Saturday with a different chef.

Sunday Lunch around 2pm, told to wait 10 minutes as our table was not ready, no problems, but I did book early in the week, so kind of downer on arrival. The place was packed, staff seemed frizzled. Seated at a fairly nice table, we had a good bottle of Rose' so we didnt order drinks. Menu was missing on my table so I asked the young lady for another, it never arrived, we never saw her again for 20minutes, I ended up getting my own off another spare table. Starters were the Kilpatrick and Bread, The Kilpratick were amazing but the let down was the bread never arrived again no sign of the lady who serviced us for another 20 minutes. We asked about the bread to which we now didn't need.

Look I can keep going on but the service was terrible. Food though is top quality so the chefs are holding this place. If i was in management I'd be investing in solid training, as your service is what is with the customer, if you arent from the food industry you wouldnt come back, but damn they do well in the food department here. Gave it a 2/5. I probably wont come back for awhile as too many places in the CBD outshine this with Food/Service.

Recommend - Scallops

I'm a big fan of Garfish having been here a number of times over the years. They serve an excellent range of beautifully cooked seafood. The venue is across the road from Manly Wharf so has lovely views over the harbour. This is especially the case having dinner in summer as the sun sets over the water. Along with a selection of staples such as a shared seafood platter and a lovely fish pie, ordering at Garfish involves selecting a fish which will be cooked in a specific way, an accompanying sauce along with a side. This range of fish changes depending on what is available and the more popular will sell out during the night so be warned that you may need to call on your second choice. This is hardly an issue as I am usually struggling to choose between two or three options.

There are non-seafood options for those who are not fans of what the sea has to offer. Let's be frank here and say that if it's your choice where to eat and you don't like seafood then although I am sure that these other menu choices are perfectly nice, it is the seafood that you come here for so there are probably better options nearby for you.

The service is attentive and friendly with staff more than happy to explain the different options available. My only gripe would be one that all restaurants should heed. Diners understand and appreciate that you need to start cleaning up before they have left and this is absolutely fine....to a point. Don't start cleaning floors and stacking chairs around them when it's Friday night only about 10 PM and there are still quite a few tables that you are still serving. It makes it uncomfortable. If you need everyone to be out that early then stop taking tables much earlier.

Great ambience with fabulously fresh seafood. Great place for a first date. We ordered the yellowfin tuna tartare that was beautifully done , 1/2 dozen half shell Hervey bay scallops with sea urchin roe butter followed by the snapper pie and spinach beetroot salad. The portions were incredibly generous so we had to share a sticky date and walnut pudding. Overall great experience. Will definitely be back!

The absolute smallest oysters I have ever seen, at $45 for the dozen, very disappointed. The chef shouldn't even put them on a plate. Those oysters are the scraps when harvested.

I have lived on the northern beaches all my life and until a few years ago I avoided Garfish as I thought it would be overpriced and overhyped. Im so glad I gave in! This really is an excellent restaurant in an excellent location. Light and airy with an open kitchen. The food is always amazing and reasonably priced. The oysters are a favourite for me. Always worth checking the days specials, they do an amazing curry. Service is attentive without being overly in your face. A great spot for a sunny long lunch or dinner for 2 (or more).

I went to Garfish Manly some years back and had a great experience, things have changed but not for the better, sad to say. What was a great venue for a romantic or classy evening with great service and attention to detail is now no better than a cafeteria. Packed in like Sardines and noisy, I or my chair was bumped on no less than 8 occassions by staff, 1 apology. Talking of sardines, they were good, however the manager told my table that my dish is his cat's favourite! Great I ordered cat food! My fish was ok but over cooked as was my partners. The staff in their defence were friendly, good considering but rushing and unable to do their job properly. The table clothes have gone too. Here is an alternative Delicado's Blues Point Rd. love it.

AJ
Great menu and really well cooked food. Whole experience let down by two things which marred the whole dining experience: too many seatings and people crammed in like sardines, the restaurant was so noisy that I had to asking my wife what she had said. Secondly, poor table service, rushed and blunt and really amateurish. These two things grated and grated on me as he whole evening went on. If you want to charge high prices then fine, but the whole experience has to be commensurate with this. Would not go back until at least a quarter of the tables are removed!
Kis The Cook
Great simple seafood restaurant. Choose your own fish, cooking method and side is a winner.
Little bit overzealous with the amount of times they came to ask us if the food was ok.

Great in all respects. Had a trip out to Manly when we were staying in the CBD last week and when we arrived off the ferry asked at the Information center for a good fish place. The guy took us outside and pointed us towards Garfish saying it was the best in town. I'm sure that he was right - great location, great food, good value and excellent service.

Wonderful!. We went here yesterday for lunch. The staff were friendly & very good, the atmosphere was lovely- a view straight out to Manly Harbour & the food was wonderful! All very good.

It was a breezy Friday morning in Sydney and the office was ever so slightly, less busy than a regular day. My coworkers and I found ourselves short of work with no fires to put out. With no better use of our time, we decided to hop onto a ferry out from Circular Quay to the sandy beach of Manly. We came across the Garfish Seafood Restaurant and were delighted to find that it served some of the freshest seafood around Sydney. Located in the gorgeous beach-side suburb of Manly, it also boasted a spectacular view of the marina. The menu came in two pieces; the regular menu (which also doubles as a napkin ring), and a blackboard menu. The blackboard menu highlights all of the restaurant's freshest catches, in addition to how they'll be prepared, as well as a selection of garnishes/sides to go with the meal. Selection of Breads ($11 AUD) Woodfired focaccia and sourdough bread with balsamic vinegar, garlic dip, and olive oil Our party started the meal with a large bread plank with a selection of dips. We instantly fell in love with the soft-yet-crunchy garlic-topped focaccia and the garlic dipping sauce. The sourdough bread was commendable but inevitably neglected in the presence of its more heavenly sibling. Wood Roasted Barramundi ($36 AUD) with salad of frisée, apple, celery, fennel, raisins & almonds w/ ranch dressing Off of the blackboard menu, I selected the Queensland Barramundi, served with a side of fresh greens. This main was an incredible treat and my first experience with good seafood in the southern hemisphere. The filet was firm and moist and the skin was crispy and flavorful. The salad was mostly forgettable but served only to highlight the fish. Belgian Waffle ($12 AUD) chocolate hazelnut mousse w/ caramelised banana & hazelnut praline Ordering dessert for lunch made me feel like a glutton, but I had to do it anyway. I was a bit disappointed when the Belgian waffle arrived, considering its miniscule size. However, after consuming it and discovering how i

It was such a chilled and relaxing lunch. The hours drifted by, the conversation continues, other diners leave one by one and pretty soon we realise that lunch time is over. Fresh seafood, hot summer day, a view, fine company and a chilled atmosphere – I can’t think of a better way to spend the holidays.

Garfish is a fine dinning seafood restaurant that has a few branches around Sydney. Manly being my favourite, location as well as menu. It has the “fruits de mer platter” AKA seafood platter for 2,

When my meal came out I was given an implement which was used to scrape out the meat from the tail, a bowl for the shells, and a finger bowl so, as the waiter suggested, I could “get messy.” There were 4 MBBs, served with aioli and brushed with lemon and garlic butter. I removed all the meat from the shells straight away and squeezed a generous amount of lemon over it, as I love the tangy taste of citrus on seafood. The MBBs were well-cooked as they were soft yet firm, and had turned opaque.

Last night, Cheesecake Boy and I were invited to attend the Garfish Food Blogger Event at their Manly restaurant. The event gave us the pleasure of tasting the new menu and the opportunity to question executive chef Stewart Wallace on the dishes we were tasting. Cheesecake Boy and I were really looking forward to this event, as Garfish has always been on our 'want to try' list, but as you know we Sydneysiders have a lot to choose from so it's hard to fit everything in. We were led towards the private dining room, where everything was all set for the evening. Not long after we settled into the private dining room with our drinks, the canapes came out. The table setting As you can see, there was a lot of food consumed last night. I was really glad that I didn't give into my munchies for an afternoon snack. The menu Back to the canapes though. Cheesecake Boy and I were quite hungry at this stage so when the first two canapes came out, instead of snapping away we ended up eating away but w

We then got the menu which consisted off raw fish, grilled fish, battered fish, cooked fish, shell-fish just basically all kinds of fish, you just couldn't move for fish!

The Main is the prawn and scallop cannelloni with white beans, grilled cherry tomatoes, avruga caviar and shellfish bisque. The shellfish bisque is make with prawns and lobster shells, the cannelloni is steamed. The main sounded pretty heavy but at first bite it was blissfully good with a well balance of flavours and couldn’t stop bite after bite. Mr himself mentions he found it was exactly the right balance. The executive chef Stewart mentions the cannelloni is not braised in the bisque. The main was matched with thistle hill organic chardonnay 2009 from Mudgee, NSW. The wine is soft and not very heavy.

Garfish , Manly held a blogger's dinner last night to introduce their new autumn menu and to meet their executive chef, Stewart Wallace. It was a lovely opportunity that I couldn't let pass. The evening was a very civil affair, a selected range of 'arrival' tasting portions was served with pre-dinner drinks: treacle cured yellowfin tuna , atlantic salmon tartare , crisp fried zucchini flowers to get the taste buds excited. They were introduced wonderfully by our waitress as you can see in the video above. Entree was seared hervey bay scallops , served with fennel remoulade, orange reduction and bacon crumbs. The presentation was simple but stunning. Stewart described the dish in detail in the video below. It was a complex dish, the fennel fresh and crunchy, working really well with the orange reduction. The scallops were perfectly cooked, nice texture, I found the bacon crumbs a bit of a distraction. Overall though, a very adventurous, intriguing start - for me, challenging and very ex

It was a fun and informative night and it was such a pleasure to hear from a passionate and dedicated food supplier like John Reid. Thanks to the Garfish team for serving up some delicious food and wine, and John for sharing his cheese stash and introducing many of us to the wonderful world of cheeses!
I Ate My Way Through
A few weeks ago, Garfish hosted a bloggers dinner to introduce us to their new Autumn menu. As a seafood lover, I've long known that Garfish was a respected seafood restaurant so it was with excitement that I accepted an invitation to finally dine here. It was also a great opportunity to catch up with Karen of Citrus & Candy , Julie of I Dream in Chocolate , Rita of Spoon, Fork and Chopsticks and meet Thang of Noodlies and Cheesecake Boy and Dumpling Girl . Although it was a chilly Monday night, the restaurant was almost full to capacity. The decor is inviting, fresh and airy. Upon arrival, Zen and I are whisked into the private dining room where drinks are aplenty. Canapes include treacle cured yellowfin tuna, atlantic salmon tartare and crisp fried zucchini flowers. A fragrant olive oil and some tangy za'atar are provided as accompaniments to the sourdough. One piece, two pieces, three pieces... Bread with za'atar is my

Garfish Manly - Disappointing. The push to fit as many people as possible into the space makes this restaurant only average. What could be fantastic is tainted by the resulting NOISE. Very noisy.
Service although friendly is also slow. Waters don't have time to explain the menu or choices when ordering. They are so busy that it is difficult to get their attention and they don't have time to circulate as they should.
The food is good but again I think as a result of the large number of patrons, too slow. We had a mix of elderly and young with us and the promised entire and main coming out together so as not to take too long didn't happen. The wait between courses was quite long and not suitable for either young or elderly.
We've given Garfish Manly a handful of chances and won't be going back.

Exceptional!. The food and service here is fabulous.
The seafood tower for two will feed five! and everything on it is so fresh and delicious.
Can't say enough good things!

Excellent food & service. Had a wonderful lunch for four. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was fresh and everything was well presented. Highly recommend to others.

Seafood variety. Visited on the 20/72014 with family in tow. Barramundi and soft shell crab were the heros of the day. My only criticism would be my sides a little on the oily side ( kipfler potatoes, kale and cauliflower). A surprise were the deserts my apple tarte tan was a perfect balance of cinnamon, caramel and buttery apples. The prices were reasonable considering location, quality and service.

Very expensive but very very good.
The baby octopus and chorizo starter was the one IMF the finest dishes i have ever had.

Great Lunch. Had lunch here last Saturday 13 of us. Great fun efficient very friendly service, which matched some of the freshest seefood I have had in restaurant in a long time.
Everybody had the best time, I think the snapper pie might have been the big winner on the day
10 out 10
miles

Great Dining Experience. I've been to this restaurant many times and it has never failed to live up to its high standards. The food, atmosphere and service are excellent and they cater for larger groups effortlessly. A++

Actions speak louder then words. We waited 2.5 hours for one salad and one fish and potatoes. The waitress was nice enough to give us a sincere apology which we did appreciated. We then waited 15mins to pay on our credit card which was just adding insult to injury. After I complained about how long everything had taken through out the night, the restaurant was still more then happy to charge my card the full amount for the meal. Good customer retention??? dont think so.

Best meal in Manly. I was really pleasantly surprised by Garfish. Reviews of Manly restaurants are so hit and miss...there are a lot that have 90% ratings but are horrible. Garfish is easily the standout. The setting is obviously spectacular. We went for a friday champagne lunch. I was really very impressed with the quality and freshness of the seafood.

We had two entries, the seared yellow fin tuna (spectacular, I could have eaten this all myself as a main), i then had the seared scallops for a main to try something different (I dont usually like scallops but these were great) and my boyfriend had the snapper pie, which was the standout. It was amazing. I would go back just to have that pie, lucky he let me taste some!! My friends meal was also delicious. It was pretty reasonably priced with two bottles of champagne and all our meals for under $200. What a spectacular day. Will go back again for a special occasion.

Not all its cracked up to be. We had a great mixed seafood entree, but the mains were horrible.
I had the mussels and they were super salty and to the point that they were hard to eat. The person I dined with had the swordfish and it was bland and the presentation was all grey.

Disgusting, grilled eggplant garnish to a roasted salmon was refridgerated cold then when we complained were told that's how it's supposed to be.will not be returning.

Used to rave about here, not anymore. Used to come here monthly for years, but last two times was so disappointed, service very average, fish overcooked and not tasty, salad didn't arrive, nor did other side dishes , had to keep asking nicely, not relaxed and apologetic to friends who I had raved about this nosh place, gave it a second chance after last disaster and same, won't be coming back, seems they have lost interest in serving and cooking delights, very sad

Yum! Would come here everyday if I could afford it.

Just had a Saturday lunch there (on 2/3/13), nice bread and beautiful salmon grilled with mash and spinach, except mine had a huge piece of fish bone in my salmon!! When I bring this up with our waitress Stefania she just stared and told me this is to be expected! No apology?? That's not fine if you are to pay $30 or more for your dish. For 2 people for lunch, you are expected to pay close to $150 for lunch, I think it would be nice not to be stabbed by a fish bone, and served by a horrible waitress!

Resting on their laurels!. Three people, holiday weekend. Too small ,not fresh oysters. Overcooked fish. So so service. Expensive. Not worth it!

The ultimate seafood dining experience!. My partner and I dined at Garfish on a Sunday night. We were recommended to this restaurant by another seafood lover and had high expectations. Our expectations were happily met. Firstly the atmosphere of the restaurant is beautiful. Cosy but elegant. We were then attended to by extremely friendly staff. We started off with an entree of mixed oysters that consisted of natural oysters, crispy fried oysters and bloody mary oyster shooters. The oysters were delicious. Then for mains we had the kingfish and hapuka with sides of a green papaya salad and veges. The mains blew us away, both the fish were cooked perfectly and the sides complimented the fish perfectly. We finished off with deserts of panna cotta and the apple and rhubarb crumble. Couldn't have finished the night off better! Very happy with our dining experience here and would definitely recommend it!
DG Hall
Hard not to like this restaurant!. It is great, but I must say that when you pay so much for a meal you shouldn't have to leave hungry. The serving sizes are really small. It's fish for heavens sake, not gold! I was pretty disappointed that my kingfish serving was so tiny. Not sure I will go back. Plus a designer beer was $9.50. Good, but not worth the price.

Definitely go here again. YUMMMMM is all i can say about this place. Staff were lovely, friendly and offered great advice. Food was great, although could have been a little warmer. The drinks were great.

Will become my local hang out when I move to Manly in a few weeks.

Highly recommended

First ever time at Garfish. Service a bit slow to start but got better! Yummy mocktails. I had the blackboard Atlantic salmon grilled with the confit potatoes - I love how they give you the 'make your own main option'. Sister had the prawn & ocean trout ravioli, which looked & tasted like a winner!

Great. The food is outstanding, the atmosphere is phenominal and the location perfect - close to the ferries. One of my favourite restaurants in Sydney

Have been here on seven occasions. Have never not enjoyed the dining experience. Well done Garfish .... You deserve the accolades.

Great food. After a not so favourable start to our relationship, Garfish at Manly has come on in leaps and bounds. My last dinning experience, being one of the best 3 courses ive had in a while, Scampi, spiced swordfish with a well chosen garnish and a classice brulee to finish. Service can be a little hit and miss, but another enjoyable visit was had.

Went again last night, really good again. Consistently good food my baked Barra with Roast Kipfler potatoes, bacon and peas was yummy. My wife had skate, lovely but the wheels were a bit tough;0)

Always good service and great food. Nice selection of wines, and many by the glass. They do a great snapper pie and the scampi and bugs are great. They do a good selection of regional beers too. Recommended!

When our mains did not arrive 50 minutes after the appetizer plates were cleared, we enquired. The Manager came over and pontificated that "in restaurants, mains would not the put in until the appetizers were finished."Mains followed immediately except the steak dish was cold. We let the waiter know, the dish was removed and brought back microwaved one minute later, greens and all. No attempt was made to humor us at least with a sorry or complementary dish . Summer in Manly should be no excuse for rude and complacent service. Too bad because the entree and fish n chips were actually decent.

1.5 HOUR WAIT FOR THE WORST SEAFOOD EVER. I find myself talking to people about how terrible this seafood restaurant on the bay was. We had been advised that this was quite a nice restaurant, although quite expensive (but if your paying for an amazing meal it's worth it, true) We arrived and were seated. It took them 30 mins to take our orders, entrees came and were appalling (I have had better seafood from a little restaurant 2 hours away from the ocean). We then waited 1.5 hours after our entrees had come out for our mains. Which were by no means anything to rave about. There is a little fish and chip shop around the corner to Garfish which has the best fish and chips I have ever had, it even has a restaurant attached if you're up for a more classy experience (I highly reccomend this little gem over Garfish) I will NOT be going back to Garfish
