Had dinner on Friday with my two teenagers. It was busy but there were a few tables. We loved the food. Steaks were perfectly cooked. The chowder was the best I've had in Australia. The kids steak was surprisingly good. The deserts looked great on the menu but were a bit of a let down. The sticky date pudding would have been better served warm. The chocolate brownie was too dense and rich. All portions were generous. The service was efficient. Overall an excellent meal.

It’s ok. If you’re after some nice meat and burger, it’s safe to eat here. I wanted to eat some nice grilled seafood and ribs with my family in Manly. So we’ve tried the Manly Grill. We’ve had GOURMET CLASSIC BURGER Good wholesome burger. WHOLE WILD CAUGHT PINK SNAPPER Not good. The flavour wasn’t there and I was disappointed. SURF & TURF Very small portion. Not good value for money. PORK RIBS Ok. Hurricane’s and Cyren make better pork ribs. CHICKEN NUGGETS What you’d expect. Good meal for kids. Overall it wasn’t very satisfying experience but the mushroom gravy and beach view were good. For these reasons I give this place 3 bears

What an awesome dinner it wasn't a cheap feed but in saying that it was well worth the money. I'll definitely be going back my 15 yr old son had the chicken burger and fries and he struggled to finish it. I had the 400gr Wagyu Rib Eye with prawns on top. I'm a butcher and that steak was one of the best I've ever had. You won't be disappointed. Fast friendly service and a great location. 💯🤟😎

Great steak and fish meals, and a vibrant atmosphere, directly on the beachfront. Many classics on the menu, something for all the family or a night out with friends.

Fair prices, portions are sooooo big, amazing place, excellent customer service, entrees also good portions and bbq wings are delicious 🤤 totally recommended for meat lovers.

The best tasting ribs you will find anywhere and the portion sizes are amazing.. Highly recommend Manly grill one of my favourite places for ribs and steaks

What a great place to watch the comings and goings on Manly Beach. The food was fabulous - I had a small pork ribs and it was huge, my companion had the Barramundi fillet which he enjoyed heaps. Staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend this place.

I used to go here regularly & used to really enjoy it. Today was the first time I've been in about two years and I wouldn't go back.... why, when there are so many other restaurants to go to... The food was okay (we had Portuguese chicken burger & Sunday roast) but the service was so average and inexperienced. (Screamed backpackers) I don't think there was any management or supervisor working - just a lot of young staff. A lot of staff! There were three staff standing chatting behind the bar (nearly in complete darkness!) chatting & polishing glasses. Anyway - just felt quite turned off from the get go. Sticky tables, inexperienced staff with dirty aprons & all had really messy hair in their faces (my pet hate) apart from one who looked decently groomed, and one girl who was probably new and only on pouring water glass duty who stood behind our table most of the evening (unnerving!) or leaning against the wall. I might sound picky but I truly believe staff working in restaurants & cafes should have their hair tied back neatly. It's gone so far downhill since I used to go there! Shame. Better management & staff training and a tad more lighting should help.

Don’t order the duck pancakes. For $19.90 you get 6 tiny pieces of duck about half the length and width of a little finger, a small amount of sliced spring onion, cucumber and 4 little pancakes and a tasteless sauce. What a ripoff!

Food was great but the service from the staff was terrible!! They kept coming and picking up our drinks without even saying excuse me while leaning right infront of us and very close to our faces and inspecting the glasses trying to figure out if we had even finished drinking it (I had to say numerous time I haven't finished my drink) but what was really frustrating was when they tried to start clearing the table when their was still food on our plates and we clearly hadn't finished our food! Probably won't be going back even though the good was nice!

As a walk in customer The Manly Grill gave us a table straight away and after only a short while we were served our meals which were amazingly delicious. We have been coming here for the past 4 years on mother's day after participating in the Mother's Day Classic in the city. It is a family tradition � The staff are always friendly and we will definitely be back.

OMG walked in 8pm on Sat night was seated straight away and food arrived promptly. My rump steak and roast vegies was amazing!!!

Every meal for our group was just perfect � Highly recommended if you are visiting Manly.

It's been 6 years since we last visited and today we made the trip to Manly just to go here with the hope it would be as good as we remembered. It totally was. Great burgers with a big side of fries and sauce, and a side of the best onion rings ever is a must.

Steak was good but you get no chips or salad on the side for free that’s a extra 3.50 each. <br/><br/>Not very Australian.

If you wish to talk to your dinner companions, don't go, the noise is appalling. Should fix the acoustics. If you are 83yo and wish to order a kids meal because you cannot eat large meals, even though you are dining with 5 others, you are not allowed. The food was ok but not enjoyable under the conditions. Strictly for the very young who like lots of noise with their meal.

I love Manly Grill. Its consistent, every time I go I know exactly what im going to be getting. My partner and I always get wings and Caesar salad to start, both delicious and then get scotch fillet with fries and mushroom gravy. Every single time the steak is cooked beautifully. The staff are friendly. We always get the bottle of Argentinian Malbec, goes well with the mains.

Come here if you want to dive into mouth watering lamb ribs and cocktails! The sides were also all cleaned up. Only negative is that people kept bumping into your seat while you were eating.

Had a delicious meal here with my family. Having 3 kids it’s always hard to please everyone but all 3 enjoyed the kids menu. Kids meals all come out with fries and the servings are decent. Hubby ordered the classic burger and chips and I had the Caesar salad with prawns. We also shared the fried squid. All was delicious! The staff were super friendly and professional and of course the view is beautiful. Will definitely go back!

Came here for lunch on a sunny weekday. Place is huge, but not full at all. Menu is extensive, everything from Seafood to different cuts of steak.<br/><br/>Quite good service and friendly staff. I ordered half a rack of beef ribs with chips. The food came relatively quickly, the ribs are saucy, tender and very juicy. The meat falls off the bone quite easily. <br/><br/>The thin fries are awesome, my favourite cut for fries :)<br/><br/>However colleagues has remarked that the steaks are more cooked than they have requested.<br/><br/>The portions are huge and we are all full at the end.<br/> I need to come back!

Manly Grill really hit the spot for me. Their buffalo wing was so juicy and succulent while the pork ribs was seasoned and cooked to perfection that it literally just fell off the bone. Their oysters were also extremely fresh and their classic beef burger was a solid one. Simply delicious. <br/><br/>Since we came on a weekday it wasn't too crowded or busy. Definitely will be back if I'm around manly!

What should have been a mildly pleasant experience turned into an expensive disaster. Two meals sent back included undercooked chicken salmonela burger and unveined prawns. Not sure who eats prawns with their guts still full of grit but obviously these guys do. However, spicy chicken wings were good. Staff friendly, manager a turkey. Avoid like the plague

For the entree we ordered buffalo wings. The wings were definitely not “buffalo” they were basted in their BBQ sauce. The meat was also dry. For mains we ordered two portions of the ribs and steak, having upgraded our steak to a “premium” scotch fillet and a portion of clam chowder. The chowder arrived first, with a hard layer at the top, indicating to us that it had been sitting for some time. Our steak and ribs arrived shortly after and were cold. The steaks were ordered medium-rare and were served medium. We were told by the rude waiter that was definitely medium-rare even though the inside of the meat was without any colour. The steaks were very tough. Our sides also arrived cold. Upon raising this with the staff we were told to wait for ‘fresh’ meals. Unfortunately due to time constraints we were unable to do this, however received another chowder which contained prawns you’d pull out of a freezer bag and the chowder was over-seasoned. <br/><br/>Both our rib and steak portions were sent back with a quarter being eaten. The chowder was basically untouched. <br/><br/>The bill arrived at full price. After speaking to yet another rude staff member claiming to be a manager who threatened to call the police. We tried explaining that we did not feel it was fair that we pay full freight for meals that we raised concerns about from the moment we received them, and basically untouched.<br/><br/>In summary, don’t eat here. I’ve eaten better meals for half the price and received a much better customer service experience. Extremely disappointed.

Busy place. Pumping but we managed to get a table for lunch on the weekend. Wagu burger was big and fresh and came with onion rings in the burger, side chips and a pickle. Hubbie really enjoyed this but could tell the patty wasn't home made. He said that would have topped it. Portuguese chicken burger was a little spicy but still delicious and simple. Pork burger was tasty but the problem was the way it was presented. The bottom of the burger was soaked and soggy. They didn't put a barrier between the coleslaw and the Bun so it was wet. Would suggest maybe a lettuce leaf or something. <br/>Our side of onion rings were yum and sweet and matched well with the aoli. <br/>Overall an average lunch that did the job on our tourist in our hometown day.

Mneh. You will probably find better. Food is ok. Service is ok. This place seems to get by on tourists and seniors specials as there is nothing spectacular about this restaurant at all.

Left it late to go to dinner so there wasn't much left open in manly so we came here. Staff were friendly enough but the food is very expensive for what it is. $26 for a pulled pork burger. It was nice but not worth that much. My husbands steak was also cold when it arrived. Appreciate them accepting us when it was late but we won't return

Friendly service! But poor quality food (at least on burgers and sandwiches), no worth the money. Also they use the thin "mc donalds" kind of fries... if I go to a restaurant I don't want mc donalds fries. I asked for coke and they gave me Pepsi. The 2.5 rate is for the service as I repeat, the food is not worth the money.

I have been here a fair few times now and have enjoyed an intimate dinner to group occasions for work with much success. I appreciate them catering to my specific diet the last time I ate here providing me with extra vegetables. My colleagues on both work occasions all enjoyed their meals and felt the ambiance at the back of two restaurant to be better than the front. As for service it has been varied at times it is on point and at other times it has wavered with some waiters unaware of what had been ordered already.

The view from the restaurant was nice. The service was good, the staff are friendly. Food was good overall. It depends on what you get. Recommending the ribs.

I came to manly grill on a Monday for lunch. Beautiful view and good service. We got the beef salad and the chicken salad and they were both fresh and filling!

Manly Grill is the kind of place you go to have a good feed of chips, burgers and steak. It's not somewhere where I would go if I was looking for really good food, but I was still happy with my meals the couple of times I have been here. The steak sandwich hit the spot and it is a massive serving, though I think it's probably not the best steak sandwich out there. And I was actually really impressed with the chicken salad. It was exactly what I was looking for and a great serving size too. The staff are also really friendly and attentive.

Very disappointing service and food. We ordered an appetizer and two drinks and they refused to serve my husband a glass of wine unless he actually ate some of the appetizer. When you pay nearly $20 for a single scallop cut in quarters and covered in cheese, serve a glass of wine please. Only good thing was the location and view.

Went there around a week back and loved the experience. Ordered the oysters, seafood chowder and the croc n roo combo. Tasty food with huge portions. Lovely service and ambience. Would recommend it

Your paying for the location and view to manly beach. I ordered the pulled pork burger and had a mint ice tea. The burger bun always a bit burnt and fries were not that hot. Service was a bit small even though they were not that busy. I won't be back in a hurry.

Good food overshadowed by rude staff. My sister and I visit Manly Grill constantly for a "protein fix" after a day at the beach. Yeah, it's a bit pricey, but it's what we are used to paying on Sydney's northern beaches, so it doesn't phase us. <br/><br/>What does though, is the constantly rude staff. Two examples that stick out in my head are: <br/><br/>A) when I couldn't understand what one of them said due to her heavy accent, so when I asked her to repeat herself she rolled her wise and YELLED loudly to me. I was so embarrassed andeven the surrounding tables looked over in shock. <br/><br/>B) A waitstaff displayed severe attitude to<br/>my table once one of us changed her order. She told her that rather than ribs she wanted steak... The waitress from then on was extremely rude, smashing down plates onto our table whilst delivering the food.., like come on!! We're there for a pleasant experience...ESPECIALLY for those prices!<br/><br/>The location and nice food is what keeps me coming back.. But if they want to hold onto repeat customers, management really needs to retrain their staff

Garbage quality and equally so service. here's a tip, don't go there!!!!!!. Third rate service and fifth rate quality.

My wife and I were looking forward to settling down to a nice meal and drink after a hectic day of sightseeing and touring the city and beautiful Manly. The menu is extensive and well put together, it's a shame that this is not reflected in the quality of service and attention. I should have been aware of what was to come by the lack of housekeeping and hygiene in the men's room!!!! The manager or whatever you call it, seemed to be more concerned with his blue tooth device and chatting up the waitresses. I ordered fillet steak med rare, came out well done instead. Not pleased and I hope we haven't caught anything.

Overpriced. I ordered the Beer Battered Barramundi with fries (they weren't chips! and my daughter said 'they were just like Macca's fries', which they were) and a 'salad' (small amount of rocket with fresh parmesan on top). I thought the 'Beer Battered Barra' was way overpriced at $26 but expected a great filling feed. When the meal was delivered and I saw the palm size piece of Barra my first response was, that's way overpriced! and I couldn't work out where the 'beer batter' was but thought this must be the healthy alternative (ie no actual beer batter). Me being the polite patron, ate the meal and enjoyed it enough ... when i went to pay my bill I found I had been billed for the pan-fried Barramundi at $30, $12 Sunday surcharge for myself and 3 teenage children, $8 for a bottle of water plus GST. I told the waitress that I had not ordered the Pan fried and whlist it was nice, I didn't appreciate being given something more expensive when I didn't order it. She questioned why I ate it and I told her that I thought I'd been given the correct meal. She reluctantly refunded me the $4.00 (woop) On the upside I thought the service was fine if not pretty pompous at the end. My teens enjoyed the experience - eating out at a beachside cafe in Manly isn't something we have ever done before .... I thought the whole thing cost much more than it was worth and at $99 I nearly fell over!

Shocking service and that's only the beginning. Surely it can't be considered the right thing to do for a restaurant to wash a steak and put it back on a plate because they smothered it in BBQ sauce and then take it back to the customer and they didn't even bring the right washed steak back to the same customer? Pathetic behavior, won't be frequenting this establishment again. neither should you.

Best place to eat in Manly!!. Favourite restaurant to eat at!! No matter how busy they are we have always been served quickly and the food is also served within 15-20 mins. The staff all are very friendly and professional. I love this place. :-)

RIP OFF. The food was mediocre and overpriced. We went on a Sunday and was hit with a $18 dollar surcharge which was apparently a Sunday surcharge. After asking one of the waitresses she brought over the menu which had the surcharge listed in tiny writing down the bottom of the very last page under kids meals. A bit misleading considering most people would not look at that page if you don't have children? Would not eat here again.

Expected more from a busy beachfront restaurant. I have been a Manly local for years and have never been to Manly Grill so I was looking forward to when my in-laws from overseas suggested it. <br/><br/>We had a nice table out front, the atmosphere was great, the wine selection also great and our waiter was very helpful and attentive... I generally notice these things as I work as a Restaurant Manager myself so it comes out of habit.<br/><br/>The menu looked okay, nothing overly exciting but I decided on the Yellowfin Tuna with a salad & shared some sweet potato fries. The tuna and salad alone was $30 so I was expecting a great dish, but I was so disappointed with my meal, the fish was bland and boring and the salad tasted only of oil and the sweet potato fries were also bland and served with no dipping sauce. <br/><br/>The rest of the meals were okay but all four of us agreed that for the price we expected much more. An overall very disappointing experience.<br/><br/>Such a shame that a restaurant with a prime position was such a let down.

They must be joking with that service.... Went here on the weekend....dreadful. Started with peking duck pancakes (a special - $16). These were good but the serving of duck was quite meagre.<br/><br/>Then had 300g rib eye ($34) with chips. The rib eye was cooked just as I like it (medium rare) and had a nice basting on it. The fries were a disappointing - essentially just Maccas french fries. Some steak fries would be nice.<br/><br/>Food was good...but the service was woeful. After finishing our mains, it was clear the staff had changed shifts and we were systematically ignored for over an hour. We had to ask 3 times for drinks we had ordered from the dopey and inattentive waitstaff. All of us wanted desserts but just gave up when repeated waitstaff turned their backs on the table trying not to do any work or pick up an extra table. Our meal took over 2 hours...unacceptable.<br/><br/>When we finally flagged someone down for a bill, it was delivered and never picked up. Disgusted, I went to the counter and paid...the waiter asked (insincerely) how everything was and I replied that we had been waiting for a long time and no one came to take orders. He grunted and then took the $202 payment for the bill. No apology or attempt to rectify it - it's like he had zero training in customer service.<br/><br/>To cap it off they have the audacity to charge $3pp "service charge" on weekends. Look up Fair Trading geniuses...additional charges aren't allowed anymore unless you create a specific weekend menu with /all/ hidden charges included.<br/><br/>Seriously displeased and ruined our afternoon.

Was lucky enough to come here on a beautiful sunny day. Outdoor seating provided a nice view of the beach. Staff were extremely nice and helpful. The food was great too, and that's the main thing. Would definitely recommend.

Great steak. Last night we had scotch fillet and steak at the Manly grill. The steak we had with potato jacket and was delicious. The Shiraz was nice and the waiter service impeccable with a great setting this was an enjoyable night out.Will be back again..

Never again, had the rack of ribs, utter over cooked, a caterpillar crawling out of the salad, one my request to replace the crappy plate of compost I was offered a free coffee which was cold too....not even a appologie . Saturdays in Manly... Priceless!

Nice setting, nice staff, attractive food. But tastes awful! Had the Portuguese chicken burger, steak sandwich and buffalo wings. All looked great but tasted just plain gross!

Rude service. Went there today with my parents for lunch and ordered the chicken burger on special. It was written on the menu that it came with fries and coleslaw. It came out without coleslaw and I asked the waiter if it was coming. He rudly told me I read the menu wrong, brought me a different menu to show me and it didn't come with it. I looked at the specials menu that I was given after we finished and it did infact say the plate came with it. Besides that, the food was just alright.

HOW RUDE!. Went to have coffee after Movies on tue night. At 9:15pm many empty tables and was informed unless we had something to eat we could not get coffee. We were rudely treated and Manager confirmed restaurant policy. At this time of night and empty tables and other restaurants right next door who will, what is there problem! Had coffee next door at Blue Cafe, great service, great coffee and hot chocolate. Three more lost to Manly Grill.

Early mothers day dinner last night. Great service from all staff and food was sensational. The steak and ribs was a 10 out of 10!!! Definitely going back there again.

Great Food. This place is great, my wife & I had a superb meal here on valantines day with some of the best tuna i have had, both courses we had were excellent & just over $100 with a drink each we were happy we visited. Maybe the chef could go to Nicks in Darling Harbour & teach them how to cook tuna we ate there the night before & this place is much better.

We had dinner tonight & had some of the best steaks ever. We were greeted warmly on our arrival, & even though tables were limited, we're offered a table close to the entrance with great views of the sea & boardwalk. The service was quick, friendly and promptly sent to the kitchen. A spill was noticed immediately when our waiter rushed over to mop up without being summoned. Anybody who complains about slow service ought to know it actually takes time to cook a great steak. If you want quick, go to Macca's. We could not fault our meal @ Manly Grill. If you want a great steak or if you love seafood you definitely MUST try this place!

Ok food. You are paying a premium for the surf view. Staff were friendly and efficient. Oysters and wine list - great. I know better than to order buffalo wings in Aus, but was feeling nostalgic - serves me right. Overall, 7.81 out of 11.03

The ribs are all time every time, service ranges from excellent to average. Not cheap but there are plenty of more expensive places too. Great NZ beer on tap. Food comes fast but sometimes a bit too much bbq / hickory sauce on ribs to get the full flavour. The owner is a really friendly guy who always greets us and makes us feel welcome. I would have to say its the best steak / ribhouse on the beaches and I never leave feeling disappointed

Worst restaurant in Manly, and all of Sydney!. This is the first review of a restaurant I have ever written. The reason I feel I MUST write this review is because how awful the wait staff are at this place. I am someone who never returns food to the kitchen, or complains about glasses being dirty, or hair in my food. I am providing context to demonstrate I don't complain often. This place SUCKS. I mean it is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. The wait staff are not only incompetent but rude, hostile and not to mention very, very slow. It's too bad because the food isn't awful. But if you have had Huricane ribs, and like those then you won't like the ribs at this place. Anyho, just letting you know there are loads of restaurants to choose room on the waterfront in Manly so I would strongly suggest you stay far away from this place! I mean RUN (or swim:)!!!

$12 surcharge? no thanks. Had mediocre food, and only discovered when we got home that we've been hit by a mysterious $12 surcharge on our bill. Rip off!

Everyone enjoyed they're meals, but the mixed grill for breakfast was awesome! Coupled with the nice view ofthe ocean you have a great way to spend a Sunday morning.

A beautiful place for lunch on the beach. The ribs were sensational. Best ever. Freshly shucked oysters were superb also.
