Review Bluewater Cafe - Manly

Jasper Leung
Visited there last Sunday afternoon. The place was 3/4 full. Toilet was in acceptable condition. Spacing could be better taking covid into consideration. Services was still reasonably quick. Ordering was accurate & professional. Food took 10 minutes to arrive. Chicken Schnitzel was good. Salt & pepper squid was average. A pleasant experience.

Absolutely favourite spot for Breakfast/Brunch on the corso! Food is always delicious, good portion size and their location gives you such a beautiful view of the beach. Service is quick and staff are always lovely 😊 will continue to come back.

Great beachfront cafe, with all day brunch menu and lovely drinks. We stopped here a few times in Manly, and the spectacular seaviews and great drinks kept everyone happy. This is a guarantee.

Not that great. Bluewater Cafe a busy Cafe along the Manly shore has a lot going for it. Great location hardworking staff and it all stops there. The food is bland and presentation leaves a lot to be desired. I ordered the Ocean Breakfast but was disappointed as soon as I was presented with the meal. It looked like it was all thrown together in a rush. (See the pic) The salmon was not fresh and the poached eggs were cold In anycase it is still frequented by many so you go judge for yourself. I won't be coming back.

Unfortunately, the food was below average in my opinion. We ordered the bruschetta as an entree and I found the bread extremely soggy and no flavour.. the pasta was OK yet I did find it also flavourless and quite heavy. Ive given it two stars though for the quickness, the wide range of options for food and the large portion sizes.

Great place for brunch, the staff were very friendly and over accommodating, the food was excellent and the New South Wales wines were went thru complimented the food too. Great spot by the beach and very popular with others, worth the wait for a table

Amazing seafood chowder, packed with fresh plump seafood and fish belly meat, super seafoody 'sweet' the texture is less like cream though for those that like it like that. Perfect spot over looking the beach. The calamari was tender but crispy and not oily. The Vision juice was refreshing to finisj the meal too. Will be back next time!

When you have a cafe restaurant nearby to a beach!!! ——- the best location!! While you dine here, you also get to enjoy it with the perfect beach view!

Very comfortable and relaxing seating indoors with nice interior. I recommend getting the salmon with linguine - salmon was very nicely cooked. The pasta was pretty bland though...

Make waves in Manly, Bluewater Café is paving the way for Italian cuisine along the Northern Beaches. Not only is their food incredibly tasty - I’d suggest the Veg Bruschetta and the Gamberi Linguine - they also have a coffee art machine which prints any image you want on your coffee!

If you'd like to read more of my reviews, please check out my Zomato page and visit @cynthiaeats_ on Instagram for more photos!

Came to Manly whilst on a little getaway, must say the views are amazing and such a gorgeous spot! The food was good, the seafood platter was massive and we didn’t finish it all. Wait staff were very attentive especially the older more experienced gentleman. The other younger staff seemed a bit dismissive and not very attentive like they couldn’t be bothered and everything was too much trouble for them. Other than that enjoyed my food here.

Used to be a regular here, however their turnover of start is at an all time high.....they have no service industry experience and the last two times (yes I went back just in case it was a one off) I have not been served food for over an hour. Asking the waitress on this last occasion (after having to get up out of my seat to gain her attention) what the progress was like and then to be asked after 1hour..."what it was I ordered the chef will cook it immediately for you". In shock I asked...."have they not started cooking it?" in a perplexed tone..."if you tell me what you ordered (same waitress that took my order an hour earlier).....need less to say it was a horrible experience AGAIN!!! and won't be returning.....
Jen
Really good!! Everything was cooked perfectly and decent sized meals for reasonable prices. Would like to come back again. Recommend for a Sunday brunch

Note: Unfortunately Zomato stopped giving 0.5* ... This restaurant would have been rated 3.5.This week we are reviewing a restaurant by the Manly beach, Bluewater Cafe. We went to Manly beach quite early in the morning. It was so early that they were still serving the breakfast menu. When I browsed their website for research purpose later, I found out that their breakfast menu was probably the most exciting one. Their dinner menu, on the contrary, only consists of pizza, pasta and burger.

I don't mind the food here but the service from the waitress was poor. I ordered a BLT sandwhich and when it arrived it had no bacon. Not good when it's supposed to have it. I brought this up with the waitress who looked at my plate and said she would deal with it soon. However, she walked away and did not do anything. I waited for her to come back and "deal with the problem" but it seemed like she was avoiding my table. I instead ended up calling another girl over.. by this stage my friend had almost finished his meal. This happened to be a manager or someone more senior. I explained what happened. Btw i had not touched anything on the plate.. This girl immediately apologised and took my plate away and replaced the meal. I finally received my lunch and i was greatful to the manager but the service from the other girl was extremely poor. This has really impacted my dining experience with Blue Water, and seeing as there are other places around i would definitely choose to go elsewhere where i feel more comfortable.

Great for families. Friendly service and very relaxed atmosphere, reminds me of Mooloolaba in Qld. Food is good without being outstanding and certainly not pretentious.

Morning bruschetta 🥓🥑
Came here for brunch and managed to get a table on the side of the main road that overlooked Manly beach. Decent price with huge servings in reference to what I ordered.

I ordered the "Morning Bruschetta" because I felt like eating haloumi today. It was average and tasted okay; the balsamic glaze and the tomato & corn salsa was a nice addition to the dish. I also ordered the iced coffee and I liked it as the ice cream and whipped cream made it more on the sweeter side which I enjoyed and it was in a large glass too. The eggs benedict just tasted like any ordinary ones served at a cafe. I did not get to try the coffee but it was cute with the heart on the top.

Average food but good service. There is nothing subtle about the food. Decent portions but poorly executed. Given the choice Manly has to offer I would not eat here again. Breakfast was better but dinner was very disappointing.

The vegan breakfast is amazing!! So happy there is options popping up around for vegans, makes it so much easier to eat out and enjoy a meal with the family!

Reasonable price with huge serving. Had the morning bruschetta. The bread was a little stale to cut into, but was generally happy with the other components of the dish. Friendly service. The place was a little dark, also a bit far from the table when sitting on their sofas.

Prime location in Manly, Bluewater Cafe is the perfect spot for brekkie or lunch. The menu has lots to choose from and we sampled the blue water tasting plate, salmon bruschetta, ravioli, barramundi and crab burger. The standout was the prawn, lobster and crab ravioli with shellfish butter sauce and cherry tomatoes. Despite being a pasta dish it was still a light enough option for lunch. This was closely rivaled by the macadamia crusted barramundi which was served with a rocket and beetroot salad. The barramundi combined with the mango sauce was delicious! Don't be mistaken by the name 'cafe' this place has some seriously good cocktails. If you are there for brunch the salmon bruschetta provides the classic combination of smoked salmon, capers, red onion, smashed avo and lemon. If you are exploring manly then be sure to drop into bluewater when you need to refuel and relax.
The Next Rush
It’s literally meters away from the main crossing to and from the beach so naturally, the vibe is laid back and chillaxed. After a day in the waves, the menu offers some pretty rustic yet classy blends of flavors both in its food and drink range. The roar of the beach can be heard, the indoor and outdoor dining areas are bustling and hues of blue from the interiors reflect onto your plate.

Such a great day and in paying tribute to the extended summer weather cocktails are essential with the sweet freshness of fruit based potions!

MIDORI SPLICE (Midori, Malibu, Pineapple, Coconut Cream)

GREAT GATSBY (Grapefruit, Vodka, Gin, Vermouth, Lemon)

WATERMELON DAQIRI

Difficult to compare and impossible to choose a favorite, though I did like the citrus blends in the Gatsby...

The food menu is an amazing end note to your beachside swim or walks down to Shelley Beach and back. It predominantly features seafood.

The BRUSCHETTA is topped with avocado spead, smoked salmon and capers. Beautifully presented, easy choice starter that will never let you down.

If you can’t decide, the BLUE TASTING PLATE is made up of elements that one way or another appear throughout the selection of starters. Soft Shell Crab, Fishcakes, Prawn Skewers and Smoked Salmon with accompanying dipping sauce are very satisfying when looking to indulge without too much heaviness.

The SPICED SOFTSHELL CRAB BURGER sees the crustacean crawling out of its bun adding a touch of class to a classic fave. Layered with slaw, aioli is heavenly with each bite.

A powerful aroma takes over as the plate of RAVIOLI is brought over. Stuffed with Prawn, Lobster & Crab, brought to life with a subtle butter sauce and colored with rocket/cherry tomato garnishing. Immaculate dish!

The absolute showstopper of the meal would be the BARRAMUNDI which we’ve all had a thousand times. However it’s the crafting of a Macadamia Crust that sets it oceans above many standard dishes. Perfect timing and technique has been achieved in ensuring the expectant crunch without overcooking the flesh! Running the fish through a mango sauce, it’s really an interesting combination and definitely the signature that I would recommend!

Service runs like clockwork, from ordering to delivery to tactfully executed check ups.

A destination beach eat that not only delivers in taste and not just carried by location!

Bluewater cafè, aptly named as it is located on the foreshore of Manly beach. A great spot for a nice sunny day. Perfect if you are looking for some cheap cocktails to quench your thirst after a day at the beach. The restaurant has a relaxed setting for a casual dining experience by the water. Grab a seat and relax to the sound of the breaking waves across the road.

All cocktails are $12.90 and they have a daily happy hour from 3pm til 6pm dropping cocktails to $10 and beers and wines for $5. You can also accompany this with $5 chicken wings or fries. There are also non-alcoholic beverages including fresh juice, coffee, milkshakes smoothies and softdrinks.

The dining menu is varied with something for everyone. There are a range of tasty starters, including a tasting menu but in this instance, we opted for oysters. The staff accomodated our request for a serving: half natural and the other half kilpatrick.

Being by by the ocean we were in the mood for seafood. The crab burger grabbed our attention, stacked with softshell crab crab with slaw, and aioli. For a healthy option the macadamia crusted barramundi is a classic modern Australian dish well suited to such an iconic tourist destination. Served with beetroot, avocado and a mango sauce. The paper it is served on containing on Australiana , including info on ANZAC day, the harbour bridge and there are also some dad jokes for a laugh.

The cafe is relaxed, a mix of booths, tables and couches, there's free wifi and a tv playing the rugby league. Also very family friendly.

Came to manly for breakfast during the week and one of the only cafes open and selling breakfast along the beachfront. Definitely on the expensive side, however saying that, i ordered the ocean breakfast and this meal was massive! Definitely could be shared satisfyingly between two people. Quality was really good and was nice overlooking the beach.

A Tourist favourite. Superb spot to enjoy the beach side of Manly, but gets UBER busy and with that the service gets a little slack. If don't mind a buzzy loud brekky or lunch go here.

The food is alright. But the service is terrible. Super slow, and the staffs were just talking to each other instead of serving customers.

The task: meeting a girlfriend for breakfast
The place: manly
A quick google search of the best breakfast spots in manly, & Bluewater Cafe seems to be everybody's top pick. The outside doesn't look like much-a bunch of plastic tables & chairs. Zero design & care has gone into the outside of the cafe, which is a real shame because you could easily walk past it as just another cafe in manly.
We sit ourselves inside cause it was a bit chilly. The interior was way nicer & warm & inviting. Lots of dem cushions that chicks like so much, plus a heap of blue decorative things that make you go, blue, like the ocean, & you can see the beach from the cafe, so you're like, oh I see what they've done there.
The food was super fast. I feel like we put our menus down & it was magically replace by our meal. The size was great & went down a treat.
The best part-the coffee was actual adult size! None of this-oh look how cute we are squeezing a "large" cuppa into the tiniest water glass you've ever seen, & it was yummy-proper coffee!
The only odd thing about the place was our waitress wanted to take our pepper away & put it on an empty table, only to return it to us after we finished eating.
I think the Bluewater cafe should think about working the outside design & matching it up to the much nicer inside design of the cafe, but apart from that it was great, & I'll be going back for more.
Went with a group

Most of them quite satisfied

A great location with views across the beach

Service attentive and prompt

The Barramundi got the big tick as did the Morrocan lamb salad
Sadly the chicken parmigana was tasteless and possibly a frozen option reheated

Huge potential here but cost cutting rather than value adding is not the way to go Bird Hide has occupants

We went there for happy hour and got offered great chips on the house! It was part of the deal and the prices were great
House wine for $5
Cocktails for $10

Bluewater is in a prime position looking out to Manly Beach. However great views alone don't keep people coming back. Here the food is extremely popular but it is the very friendly service you get that make Bluewater what it is.
Excuse Me Waiter
The team at Bluewater Cafe had excellent and attentive service, and made us feel very welcome throughout the night. Along with delicious food and beach side views (more so during the day), I’d recommend anyone passing by Manly to give this place a try!

BEST Cafe in Manly. There is a reason why this place is busy in the mornings, there is also a reason why this place brings in not only tourists but repeat customers. The service is great, the coffee is hot and the food is delicious! 5 stars :)

We weren't impressed with much except the beautiful view. Service was a bit slow and when the food arrived, my eggs benedict (which tasted ok, but nothing special) had A LOT of egg shell in it - not just one or two tiny pieces, but about a teaspoonful altogether. Nothing puts me off eggs more than crunching on egg shell! I picked it all out and I pointed it out to the waitress when she collected the plates & she made a joke that we all need a bit more calcium in our diets! She showed the chef & said the best they could do was offer me another coffee on the house. I agreed & when it arrived it was the wrong coffee, which I couldn't drink. With all the other wonderful cafés in the area, there's plenty of alternatives to choose from, which is what I'd suggest.

Terrible service. Having to ask twice for a menu then wait 10 minutes to get one.
And the best part was after 10 minutes a waitress came up and took the menus off our table and walked away! Didn't take our order.. Just walked off with the menu.

Food average. Ok but nothing special.
Staff efficient. But not exactly friendly - a bit dismissive at times.

Cmh. Breakfast is extremely generous size and delicious, great prompt and friendly service. Banana bread and muffins baked on the premises are fabulous!

A fav in manly. Have lived in Manly for 5 years and blue water cafe a def fav, always great service, being local well looked after, staff remember you my dogs welcome outside and water given to them, great for all meals or a coffee, stunning across from beach and folk looking

Despite a large crowd breakfast was served very quickly. Food was tasty, fresh and importantly, hot. Great coffee to top it off. A little pricey but the quality was high.
Pumpkin Pie
Prompt service, food was fabulous. Had a chicken, beet root, haloumi, pinenut salad and a side of bread to share as a light afternoon snack. The attentive staff brought side plates for those sharing. Only issue was we asked for some more olive oil from one staff member and he said he'd get it but then rushed off to another table and forgot us. We asked another lady and it wasn't an issue at all. I recommend this place.

Food was great, service was fine, just don't get there at 1130 because you'll have to wait while the kitchen changes over from breakfast to lunch.

Love it!. I love Blue Water Cafe. I have lived in Manly for almost four years and it has always been my number one favourite restaurant to go to. Easy going feeling. Great Great food. Service is just normal. Not over the top but never rude. Perfectly friendly.
The menu isn't massive but I have never ever had a bad meal here. Just love it!!
Deborah
Great brekky with great views. Had a lovely breakfast at Bluewater recently. We had the Tuscan eggs and Italian scrambled eggs - very tasty. It's nice to see a cafe doing something a bit different. The setting is fantastic to, just across from the beach. The cafe itself is nice and airy and the staff are friendly and efficient. Would like to try it for dinner as I think it would be a pretty chilled out place to kick back with a glass of wine.
John
Overall good selection and fresh tasting.

Service (or lack of) reminds of of faulty towers

Noise. Wow! I love this restaurant but the noise is unbelievable! Could you not put some baffles on the ceilings? My ears are still hurting - nevermind the conversations I could have had!

Good value for $. We used to come here a lot (we live in Manly), but we think it's changed management a few times during that period, unfortunately not for the best.

They took off their most popular dish - the beef medallions! It has sort of come back onto the menu, but still slightly different.

The Portuguese Espatada is still just as tasty & satisfying as ever though.

And I once had the most amazing cheese cake (honey comb & dime ball), which I haven't seen since.

Overall, the quality here is great value for money, it's BYO and we're always confident that we'll be satisifed with our dining experience.
Cameron
Great place where all the locals seem to gravitate to. Nice service also.

Aymen makes the best coffee. Lunch with @oneplacemail This place is the equivalent of Barzura in Coogee

Good breaky. On a beautiful weekend, the sun was shining, the food was amazing. i recommend the italian scrambled eggs for a nice twist on the original - it was a little cheesy but i like that. i read that the service wasn't great, which it's not, but they girls there try hard, i think it's stressfull and understaffed when theyre busy. be prepared to look out and seek the waitress' attention when you need it
Paul Bakker
Get some good service staff please! Many forgotten drink and food orders, why are there wait staff who won't take drink or food orders and visa versa?!
