Review Manly Eat-well Chinese Restaurant - Manly

Food is always excellent and service today was first class. Friendly and efficient. Sweet and sour pork never disappoints and the chilli prawns were fantastic. I always forget to give the 24 hours notice for the Peking duck. Next time!

As we entered the restaurant, we were not welcomed. After a while some one asked us if we had a reservation. We didn't. Most of the tables had 'reserved' lable. Fortunately there was a table available for two. We ordered homemade Curry, greens and rice for two. The food was delicious!! Very tasty - unique flavor. Enjoyed it! As the reserved seats were being filled by the customers, the owner seem to know everyone and even welcomed a few with a hand shake and a big smile. The cost came to be AUD 54. While paying for the food, at the counter, the owner didn't even look at us. Made us feel like we were a burden to them. I guess one has to reserve a table first, to get the welcome.

This Chinese restaurant has been the pick of those on the Peninsula since Henry opened it with his family what seems a lifetime ago. Henry retired and sold the business, but the fear we all had for our favourite dine in and takeaway, has proven to be unfounded. The new owner/operators have maintained Henry’s unique recipes and quality - a VERY wise business move. Just try the Salt & Pepper Calamarie or the Fillet Steak Schezhuan style or Combination Omlette or Mustard Prawns and you will be a regular, happy customer. One taste is all it takes.

Great Chinese restaurant, long time Manly establishment. Delivers every time! Chilli spicy prawns are excellent, as are lamb pancakes. Atmosphere a bit stark, but just enjoy the food - takeaway also excellent and quick. Enjoy!

1 star is to much if i could have given 0 i would have.. I ordered home delivery at 9pm at 10.25 i called to see where it was and was tolf he driver was 1 min away 15 mins later i got a phone call from the owner to say the driver hadn't turned up, it was not 10.45.. i told her to just cancel the order and refund me and not worry about it. She told me that she was NOT cancelling the order or giving me a refund , i tried to explain to her as a consumer she hadn't supplied the service i paid for so i needed a refund.. she point blank refused to refund me money and lied to the Menulog customer service operator and told them the driver was at the restaurant even though she had told me 1min earlier the driver was no longer coming and she was closing... This was to be the first time i was going to use this restaurant and its definitely my last.. Pathetic customer service taking money and not refunding...

Great Chinese food. Nicest food on the northern beaches. Very quick takeaway. You can see why they have been in business for 20 odd years. We had salt and pepper prawns and Mongolian lamb.

Such a shame. We have been coming to Eat Well for 21 years, and would tell everyone about it. But recently it has changed ownership and last nights experience was enough for us to never come back to this restaurant. In short: 1. One of the people with us was in the rest room and saw a CHEF use the toilet and then leave without washing his hands 2. The service was absolutely terrible, it wasnt even busy (maybe 2 other tables of people). The girl working may as well not have been there because she was extremely inattentive, and the language barrier proved to be a problem for her. 3. We were charged for a meal that we ordered but never received. 4. Less of an issue, but no music or any sort of attention given to the atmosphere of the place. All good things must come to an end i suppose, and our time with Eat Well has certainly come to an end. Time to look for a new Chinese place in Manly.

We always love the food here but its relatively expensive. I recently ordered a takeaway and arrived about 20 minutes later to find my $80 of food sitting on the counter near the register, getting cold. Now, I am no food expert but I think this type food should be served warm. When left in plastic containers sitting on a cold counter, it will not stay warm. When I pointed this out to the owner, with the arrogance of a Michelin starred chef he responded "next time you should arrive on time" (I was told it would be ready "in about 15 minutes"). Again I am no expert, but I would think that even a Michelin starred chef would have the capacity to keep food warm SOMEWHERE (in the kitchen??) and it should not be up to his customers to instruct him on the very basics of food preparation. Our $80 two mains, rice and two soups were cold when we go home ten minutes later. I suppose this type of restaurant owner arrogance (and ignorance of health standards) reflects the dearth of decent Chinese restaurants in the Manly area, particularly ones which offer hot food at reasonable prices. My advice for takeaway customers is don't order here, but if you do, make sure YOU are not late to pick up your $25 fried chicken because the owner does not believe he has any responsibility to even ATTEMPT to keep your food hot. And whatever you do, if he is ignoring the most basic tenets of food safety and hospitality, just keep your mouth shut because you are ONLY a customer.

Manly's best kept secret! Hands down my new favourite chinese restaurant. Ordered the XO Prawns, San Choy Bow, Singaporean noodles & Sweet and sour pork. Everything was so flavourful and done well. The servers also take extra care when serving you! Its BYO drinks too. Love it!!

An excellent evening this place. The personal attention and advise by Henry was most welcome. Ginger and shallots Prawns were amazing. Calamari, the signature dish at this place was an apt recommendation. Overall awesome food

Terribly disappointed at the disgusting service we received tonight. We have been going there a few times and have always enjoyed the meals. Tonight was different, we ordered the lamb pancake tonight and my sons are allergic to nuts and had a major reaction. There was NO MENTION on the menu about nuts in that dish (we are usually careful to read what is included) and when I enquired I was told there was peanut butter in the sauce. I then suggested perhaps it would be a good idea to mention that on the menu in future to which the owner went on a rage and raised his finger and was speaking so loudly and pointed at us to say it was our responsibility to let them know. Fair enough we could have asked however because there was no mention of nuts and I would not normally expect peanut sauce being used in this dish. Regardless this is a life and death matter and I think to make mention dishes that contains nuts is a fairly common practice. The owner even told me he was scared as there was another incident where a young boy reacted as well to the SAME LAMB PANCAKE - had a blackout and had to be hospitalised. Lucky for that child, there was a doctor present and the pharmacy was open so he could get immediate treatment whilst waiting for the ambulance to arrive. You would think after that incident, that they would take precautionary actions to list nut related products. I wished it just ended there, but our feedback was not welcomed. The owner then told us to "PISS OFF" AND TO NEVER TO COME BACK. He said all his customers were loyal. Which is besides the point when it comes to this as we eat there about 6-7 times a year and would consider ourselves local to the restaurant.I'm actually speechless and shocked - no customer should ever be treated with such disrespect or yelled at in the restaurant or to have the change from the meal thrown on the table. I run my own business and would never treat a customer like this even if I wanted to (especially when my child could have been seriously harmed in your restaurant). Not impressed, especially after spending $191 for 4 people.

The menu here is very old and the prices now are considerably higher. Food is good though and service is well done. Classic Aussie Chinese and low-key decor.

OMG, the best. Service was even better. Absolutely beautiful food. Found the restaurant on Tomato and the reviews were right. Absolutely delicious Asian food.

I have to say that my partner & I were so pleased with our choice there tonight. First time diners there and I can confidently say 3 out of the 4 dishes were outstanding. The 4th was good but just not quite as nice as the others. My only criticism is they tended to speed the meals out which for me sets the tone of wanting us to get through the meals quickly rather then allow us to take our time to enjoy it. But besides that, fabulous!!!

Awesome. I got off my lounge on a friday and went down to pick up a combination rice n beef n black been as all the deliveries I've gotten from other Chinese places lately have been oily the meat garbage and not great flavour. I walked into eat well and the people that run it are obviously professionals and the place had an extreme relaxing welcoming feel. The food was awesome proper fresh veg lovely sauce great meat proper sized pieces of meat in the rice and all put together & cooked 100% perfection. I'm so happy I even wrote a review and the lovely thing is the food was cooked within 10mins of my call.

Best Chinese ANYWHERE!. It's a standing joke that I've had a Chinese food addiction since I was a kid. Since we discovered Eat-well many years ago we have taken family and friends there on a regular basis - it used to be a Sunday night ritual. Now living in UK, we manage to squeeze in a few Eat-well meals every time we come home for a visit. We haven't found anywhere in the world we'd rather get our fix!! Henry and his family and staff are always warm and welcoming, the food is fantastic and as far as value for money goes, you'd be hard pressed to find better. Dim sims, lamb pancakes, squid and crab with scrambled egg all a must! Thanks Henry!! Look forward to seeing you next time we're over!

If the name fits. We have been regulars for more than ten years and the name says it all - every time we go we eat well. We eat very well. In fact the food is so good we generally eat at least one course more than we should. We have introduced many friends and family to Henry and Priscilla's unique style of Chinese food and all have become regular patrons. Our youngest son returns from overseas every Christmas and insists on a dinner at Eat-Well.
The menu is varied and always fresh and perfectly prepared; the atmosphere friendly and the prices very reasonable.
Highly recommended

Better than the Phoenix. Would highly recommend, superb food, great staff, absolutely wonderful. Not the great location as the beachfront restaurants but half the price, double the taste and easy to park.

Just finished our 2 course meal(take away). Superb food. Squid & fillet steak - with rice - magnificent. Great friendly service ( walked in off street) - filled with locals. Kid friendly, highly recommend this hidden treasure, just north of manly cbd. Well worth a visit. Apparently they are renowned for their lamb pancakes- next time!
