Location is located on prime location, right after exit gate of manly ferry, at manly wharf.
Dinner time, not so crazily busy, they can accommodate 4 of us almost instantaneously.
We ordered:
-Stir fry vegetables with oyster sauce....
I know it’s sound boring, but we all agree chef cooked this dish on point.
Vegetables colors look so vibrant, and cooked to perfection.
-Spicy salad of glad noodle with mince chicken, middle, calamari and prawns
Good combination, dressing also well balance, it was such a nice dish!
Stir fry fish fillet with ginger and garlic
This fish fillet was nice, juicy and flaky.
Sauce was awesome too.
those who have visited Sydney would most likely have heard or been to Chat Thai! I really like the food here even though it may not be the most authentic by some people’s standards but I think the Manly one is in a great location at the esplanade where you can get the ferry to and from Circular Quay!
Chat Thai has always been a favourite of mine, except it can be hard to get into them with the line-ups since everyone else agrees with me! I'd planned to take two friends to the one in Circular Quay when we stumbled across the one at Manly Wharf. How perfect. Also: my time management was mediocre so we only had 45 minutes before we needed to hop on board a ferry to get to a show at the Opera House. It was a success! The bitter melon special, with glass noodles was delicious: great texture and flavours. Unusual and only $12! A Thai papaya salad: as always: a perfect combo of flavours. The crab omelette was so crispy and airy we wondered how it was made (were the eggs whipped, perhaps and flash-fried?). The only disappointment was the Penang Curry: flavour was great but the beef was really tough. With beer and a generous portion of rice, it was less than $80 for the three of us (a cash discount was applied, which was nice). Chat Thai: I forgive you for the beef. Five Stars.
The uber driver recommended us this place when we first arrived Sydney. As we were wandering around Manly and had no idea what to have for dinner we decided giving it a try. It was a bit busy at night and limited seats. Food were nice, but the portion was small in my opinion. My friend and I were both satisfied with this experience so we tried the other branch in CBD few days later.
Good Quality Thai. Especially liked the laksa. Not expensive. The place does not look fancy and ain’t fancy so would advice to just pick up the food and eat at the beach. Watch out for the seagulls though.
I ordered a Pad See Ew, it was really good, the size was perfect: not too big but filling. I decided go for take away since I wanted to eat on the beach but there are seats available.
Have been here at least twice for lunch. The environment is not great, as it was just situated at the wharf, however the food is good and portion is huge!
Got chicken laksa the first time, the soup is yummy and the dry tofu has soaked up sufficient soup. Also have tried the basil pork belly with rice. The pork is unfortunately too salty, it was a bit hard to chew and the crunch has gone because of the sauce.
Was okay for me but would have been more enjoyable if it wasn't that salty.
Noodle dish is yummy and usually what most of my colleagues go for. Nonetheless, the price is cheap and service is very quick, and if you chose the right dish, you're in for a treat.
Food at chad thai never disappoints. Loved everything we ordered. The service is prompt.
Fresh lovely ingredients with all the flavours being spot on!
Absolutely the best Thai in Manly! Not doubt there are many Thai places to chose from in Manly but Chat Thai serves up the best food by far in terms of quality of food, variety and flavour - all for the same price as all the rest of the pack!
Admittedly, it is no fine-dining establishment, and mostly we have opted to for the take away/delivery option (they are super quick to deliver too!!) Its location is right at the wharf and luckily being a local, I can take the food home to eat. My recommendation for others outside of town, or anyone on beautiful sunny day, would be to order your food take-away and to sit on the wharf right outside (a 30 second walk away, outside Hugos).
My favourites are the Emerald Duck (plenty of greens!!) or the Red Duck Curry with lychees (obviously a duck fan!).
Was good, hot and fresh. I had the pork belly dish which was nice tho a bit too hot for me. Good service from staff, a bit slow in food delivery tho.
Environment was ok.
Always flavourful and authentic. One of my favorite Thai restaurants, while also very reasonably priced. Great location, though you're inside the ferry terminal so go outside to one of the bars on the wharf afterwards to enjoy the view.
- good food
- small venue; all seats taken, however there's a common sitting area outside shop / takeaway and sit on the beach!
- busy place because it's basically in Manly wharf
- reasonably cheap
- quite fast even in peak hour
- customer service 8/10
Would go back for sure
A relatively small restaurant at Manly Wharf.....but have to say, one of the best Thai food I have ever had. Very delicious, authentic and excellent service. A must go place in Sydney if you love Thai. !!!
Great food just like the other Chat Thai locations located around Sydney. This venue is a little bit smaller than the others but the food is the same.
I forgot to snap pictures because we were toooo hungry. Food is good and on the closer side to authentic thai cuisine. Especially loved the yum woon sen (glass noodle salad). Pack with flavors and kick! Will surely come back for more!
Love the taste of Padt Kee Mao !! Absolutely Amazing ☺ Highly recommended but try at your own risk though (its dangerously hot ). Its a must go destination when I am in Manly.
Very good Thai food. It is very close to the authentic Thai food that you get in Thailand. The taste was awesome and my family enjoyed the meal here.
...Beef Boat Noodles - figured I could do with some iron. At $9.90 it comes in a generous big round with pork crackle, beansprouts, beef strips, beef balls, chopped gai larn, chilli and rice noodles in a dark brown spicy broth. It was so delicious
Chat Thai was also one of the Thai joints that Sydney food bloggers would not let up about. It also didn't help that ALL of the people I know who live in Sydney rave about it so much. But of course, with great food comes the dilemma of even greater queues. Luckily, they've got another branch away from the city where there was no wait for seating. The downside to their Manly branch though is that they don't serve dessert.
We’ve been to all of the Chat Thai restaurants in Sydney over the past year or two and the good news is that the food is consistently good, and by good I mean EXCELLENT!!
Tasty food, indifferent service.. This was tasty Thai food, better than I would of expected given the location.
There is an issue if the language barrier, in that they struggled +++ with our order as the wait staff did not speak a lot of English.
We did not get exactly what we ordered because of the language barrier, but what came was quite nice.
They were pleasant to our children as well.
Tasty Thai. Conveniently positioned on the Manly wharf, Chat Thai serves up tasty Thai and has been for ages. I've had take-away meals from here on several trips out that way and they've all been good.
My take-away Pad Thai was delicious with heaps of chicken and packed with flavour.
The menu is beautifully presented and looks more like a quality cookbook.
Passing through Manly? I recommend Chat Thai. Fast and flavoursome.
This is one of the best Thai restaurants out of Thailand. The food is gorgeous and so fresh. Great service. My favourite Thai in Manly.
Chat thai is the most delicious Manly warf branch in Sydney.
All the employees who work look happy and provide kind service.
It's located inside the Wharf entrance, where you have to walk a little further.
Food is the taste of eating in Thailand.
My son and I had lunch today. The food quality and services were great. This restaurant will be our first choice in Manly.
We have been customers of Chat Thai for about 25 years. My wife is from SE Asia and so is pretty picky when it comes to Asian food. After a few years away we came back to be pleasantly surprised that Chat Thai is still rated as one of our favourites. 25 years of patronage says it all.
The deep fried calamari is to die for! Honestly, so damn delicious and the portion was great! I will order maybe 2 plates of calamari next time

We were a table of 6 on Sunday few weeks ago. We found staff are friendly. Foods are great, only few dishes my friend said it was too sweet otherwise it's all fine for us.
