Review Mex And Co - Manly

Glen Cox
The Mexican food is great along with plenty of different types of margaritas! I've been here for dinner a few times & definitely will be back! Try & get a table upstairs overlooking the beach šŸ˜€

I had the chicken classic nachos and strawberry margarita. Pretty average. There's something missing in the chicken; probably the mexican taste and flavour šŸ˜… The margarita was pretty good tho šŸ˜‰ but there was no watermelon šŸ™

Nice watching beach strollers and there are barely seats on the beach side on weekends. You pay for the view here, don't expect anything decent from food. Pork ribs were rushed and wasn't fully cooked inside, tiny portion for a main. Ordered fajitas with shrimp, we count to count how many shrimps to put into a tortilla because it was so small. The condiments sour cream and salsa, cheese were empty after 2 tortillas and when we asked for more we were told it's $4 each for a refill - a joke.

Best Mexican food in Manly, a wonderful view since the restaurant located right in front of the beach. The food is really great, the nachos and tacos are must try here. Will come back many more times!

Came in for lunch and sat outside in the front and people watched while we ordered chicken fajitas. Size and quality were both good. The sizzling chicken, capsicum and onions were seasoned nicely and the accompanying condiments (guacamole, sour cream, tomato pico de gallo, jalapenos and cheese) were plenty to fix up the four generous portions of warm and soft tortillas that were included. Service was wonderful and we were sure we thanked our server at the end of our meal to express just how great he was. Would come back again for fajitas ... And maybe a cocktail next time!

Food and price ok in manly beach. It's one of the few mexco restaurants with an ocean view. It is a good place to hangout and relax with friends. The manager sam is a good man.

The fajitas and fajita side dish was delicious. The nacho fries were also great. However, the enchilada was too salty for my liking. Otherwise, delicious food and friendly staff!
Ms Herwig
Absolutely delicious, the service was awesome & funny, & the flavours were spot on. Highly recommend the pork rib nachos šŸ¤¤

Pork baked burrito was awesome! It looks deceptively small, but with each tasty bite, it fills you up! Lots of offerings and it all looks good. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

We had a lovely night but asked about the Sunday surcharge. Waitress was apologetic/ helpful and we understood and paid. Manager or owner then came out and told us off for not supporting hospitality workers. My friend who Iā€™m with works in retail and I did for many years. Incredibly poor behaviour and would not come back.

The food was really delicious, and the view was beautiful. We ordered nachos, corn chips and guacamole and tacos. We did enjoy the food and the staff were friendly. Itā€™s a perfect place to chill on a sunny day : )

buzzing mexican place on the Manly Beach strip. Been here twice on Sundays and it's always busy.Ā <br/><br/>We usually still outside. The food is pretty good and we tend to share so we can order more stuff.

Nice location and staff were super friendly. The place was popular and quite busy. Husband had a burrito and liked it. I had a beef soft taco (looked great, was tender and fresh but quite bland). The chicken soft taco was nicer but still a little bland. The supplied hot sauce wasnā€™t very hot either. Still, this place is better than a lot of other Mexican eateries

The nachos are horrible! Dry and have no taste :(<br/><br/>I would not consider this restaurant Mexican. It reminds me of food truck cuisine at a carnival. If you want real Mexican then go down the corso to Chica Bonita.
Rafael De Alencar
Just the worst all kind restaurant of my life! Frozen food, tasteless, expensive, Small portions, is a scam for me because of the location ! Donā€™t go there !
Andrew
<br/>Don't be fooled by the location.. The food was deplorable, extremely tasteless. Very average. Please don't waste your time and money like we did.

Two thumbs up for this contemporary Mexican restaurant on the strip opposite Manly beach. My fiancee and I window shopped many eateries before choosing this restaurant on a delighful, warm and sunny Winter's day.<br/><br/>Asked a waitress for recommendations and based on these went with beef nachos for an entree between the two of us. They were beautiful and enough for the two of us for an entree.<br/><br/>For mains we ate combo beef and prawn fajitas - which were magnificent. Bought a couple of extra fajitas to polish off the toppings... Would rate Mex and Co as the best Mexican restaurant we have dined at and highly recommend it.<br/><br/>Great food, lovely setting, comfortable and contemporary furnishings, and terrific service from the waitresses made for a delightful experience.

Love the food, great vegetarian fajitas and jalapeƱo poppers. Relaxed place to catch up with friends or to have a bite to eat before going out on the the town

Great service - fast and polite. Terrific options and very flavoursome. Chicken salad, classic enchilada and kid's nachos and burritos were all fantastic. Guacamole was delicious!

Lovely spot next to the beach, however does get a bit chilly/windy so bring a jacket! We ordered beef nachos, chicken burrito and prawn fajitas. The beef nachos were delicious, they are served with mince beef, guacamole and a scoop of sour cream. I personally don't think there's enough guacamole in this dish, so we ordered a side of guacamole as well. The prawn fajitas were simply delicious, however I was told the chicken fajitas were much nicer. The burrito was ok, not amazing. I asked for guacamole on mine, and they like blended it through the rice so I couldn't really detect the flavor which was a shame. Even so, the food is nice and I will return.

Hard to score - the food was standard Mexican done better than most, but at a price premium and with non-existent service. <br/><br/>Service: Upon getting seated, upstairs, we received menus. After 15 minutes of waiting we called over a waitress to take drinks and entree order - all of which was delivered promptly. No one returned for the mains order so again - called the waitress over. Desserts - same again. Worst of all was when wanting some forks for the table, the waitress dropped the container on the floor, picked up forks that had come out and put them on our table. Wow. <br/><br/>Food: jalapeƱo poppers are amazing. The nachos were small but very tasty. The enchiladas were basic, but again, very tasty and filling. No complaints. <br/><br/>However, $30 for fajitas for one, $24 or so for enchiladas etc is well over standard Mexican prices. Get a table out the front with the stunning view and add some decent service and then perhaps this becomes great value. Until then - I'll stick with Mexicano or El Diablo

The beef nachos, the view, the service. Everything was fantastic. We ordered tacos, the gourmet ones were better than the non gourmet. The fajitas came with a decent side of guac, sour cream, jalapeƱos, salsa. The forementioned nachos were sooooo good. Id come here just for that and a nice drink! Highly recommend this place!

Tasty food, quick friendly service, reasonable prices. We enjoyed our lunch and the setting. <br/>We had a chicken salad and chicken burrito both large serves - good value for money.

The pros - beachfront location, cozy decor, quick service, great margaritas and decent prices. <br/><br/>The con - this is Australia's version of Mexican food and its average at best. Portion sizes are generous if you're really hungry.

I had the chicken Naked Burrito. The chicken had no flavour, the rice was stuck together in massive chunks and the whole thing was awful and watery. Really disappointing after reading such a great menu.
Kim Rheese Collings
Food was ok - we were expecting more flavour from the mouthwatering menu and then it came out cold. Porkbelly burrito, chicken and beef tacos. The view was spectacular.

Have been here twice due to friends having there birthdays here. Worst Mexican food we have ever eaten on both occasions, tacos were so bland, pork was hard and not edible. Such a waste of money and location. If your looking for great Mexican go to chica bonita in manly!!
2hungryysisters
The nachos were delicious and at a generous portion! The service was quick and everything was great. Loved this place and the location is right across the road from the beach.

Mex and Co is my fav Mexican food restaurant. As a Hispanic girl from Texas, it's the closest I've found to good TexMex type cuisine. Highly recommend the Chicken nachos, prawn taco, fish taco, and the fajitas.
Sarah
Tasty drinks and reasonably priced, yummy, fresh tacos. We came at lunchtime and it was busy but the service was prompt. The staff are friendly and helpful. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

Great place. Nice setting and tasty food. If you're looking for restaurant quality food then this is not your place. If you're after quick tasty mexican treats then you'll love it.<br/><br/>Ordered Quesadilla, a taco, corn chips with Salsa and Churros. Enjoyed all. <br/><br/>Small servings so be prepared to order a few things but worth it.

Fresh and tasty. Tried a few tacos - pork belly, chicken and baja california prawn - the prawn one was outstanding while the others were good but not amazing. good view, good service and fresh food.
Hugo77
Funky new mexo. Nice tacos and burrito and good selection pf beers and nice ocean view from the top.

Don't bother. The food was ridiculously expensive considering the tiny portion you were served. Dinner for two cost us $60 and we were still hungry - we ended up leaving because to go somewhere else where we wouldn't have to pay $18 for a plate of nachos the size of a beer coaster.

Rip off for poor food. Tacos were absolutely tiny, barely visible, flavourless, and not worth the money at all. <br/><br/>Super average service, no one asked whether we enjoyed our food. Maybe they knew the answer would be no. <br/><br/>To round it off the Pepsi was the most flavoursome part of our meal.
Stringy_spaghetti
Would recommend for expensive snacks, BYO head torch to see overpriced menu. Poor lighting so couldn't see the prices. service was good but paying $14 for not even a fistful of mexican food which was stale and lacking in flavour didnt seem worth it. from the waiters reactions to our reactions about the dishes, he seemed to agree with us. went in a big group and everyone came out hungry.

The restaurant looks awesome - the decor is funky and the location is amazing. <br/>I ordered the chicken nachos and a chorizo and haloumi taco. I had such high hopes but both dishes were a little underwhelming. The taco was a bit bland - which is amazing considering the spicy chorizo! The haloumi could have been fried a bit more; it tasted a bit raw.<br/>The nachos were fine - the chicken had been slow cooked and was delicious; and the guacamole was amazing. There was a lot of watery juice at the bottom of the dish; which made all of the corn chips at the bottom horribly soggy. <br/>The food was edible, but not amazing; and I expected much, much more from this hip restaurant.

Tough one. This restaurant is in a prime position on the waterfront, so after walking from one end to the other we settled on the trendy Mex & Co (it was a Monday and Chica Bonita was closed!). We ordered the pork crackling and guacamole to start, which was different to what a pictured (I was thinking pork crackling like on Christmas Day, silly I know!) it was nice though. I then had a selection of tacos - pork belly, chorizo & halloumi and chicken & pineapple. They were good but I wasn't blown away. My sister had a burrito with pork belly which sounded good in theory but wasn't good in reality. Didn't quite hit the mark.

Worst service. Had a really bad experience, waitress was so rude, ordered fajitas and they came out warm- usually sizzling had obviously been sitting aside for sometime as they came out within 5 min after ordering. I emailed in explaining all of this and had no reply. I asked for a house white wine and the waitress said "no we don't have any house wines" and walked off, she couldn't even tell us the cost to order extra tortillas, sour cream etc- we had run out of this and had so much chicken left over. Even though the waiters keep the menus after they take your order its too hard to go and check the price and let us know- Have spread the word about this place

Disappointing. We decided to go to Mex & Co for dinner on a Saturday night. The ambiance is great if you can score a good table. We ordered a variety of tacos the fish taco was outstanding but the chicken, beef where very ordinary. The pork taco was terrible to say the least, dry and over cooked and completely un edible. Nacos were tastey but nothing special.<br/><br/>The entire menu is completely overpriced accompanied with tini tiny portions. On a plus the staff are great and the Margaritas are off the chain. <br/><br/>I'll only come back when I'm happy to throw away money.

Bland Food BAD SERVICE. I love Mexican food, so to anyone else wanting fresh simple flavours and good service DO NOT GO HERE!<br/><br/>None of the waiters want to make eye contact with you, the front of house are just interested in filling tables and then you are essential ignored. <br/><br/>We were sat an a dirty table, and weren't even given a menu until 10 minutes after seated. When the food actually arrived, all apart from the fish taco were absolutely tasteless in flavour. The pork taco in particular was particularly bad.<br/><br/>Terrible experience, don't let the somewhat busy exterior of this business make it seem like a good place to go. Worst Mexican food I have eaten!
Tamie Wexler
I ordered a grilled prawn salad. The avacado was off and the mandarin was also sour. I didn't eat it and gave it back to the waitress. My bf ordered a main that was tiny. After telling her the avacado was off and I couldn't eat it, , we still paid full price. Sadly this restaurant is an insult to real Mexican restaurants.
Food Glorious Food
The blandest Mexican food I have ever eaten. Service was good. Food arrived in under 4 minutes of ordering it leading us to believe that most of the food had been pre-made. Tomato salsa certainly looked and tasted like it. Mean serves of cheese and avocado. I get more flavour from making Mexican at home with an old El Paso box and for a third of the price.

Love it! We shared tacos and quesadillas and loved them all. Fast service. Attentive and polite staff and for Sydney prices are amazingly good. Best lunch of our two week break so far.
Meg Rayner
Quite enjoyable for a late lunch. Tried the beef cheeks, fish and chicken tacos. Fish was EASILY the best (YUM!!!), the chicken was also tasty but needed extra chilli sauce and the beef was nice but no different to normal shredded beef. <br/>We were one of three tables but service was great. Can imagine it being very busy at night though.
Telmac
Slow service but nice food. Don't like the cocktails in glass jars, or that its a Pepsi place. But if you have a little extra money to spend its not bad.
Helen
Stopped in for dinner mid week after a horrid day at work. Food yummy especially the enchiladas. Good service. Really enjoyed it. Definitely would go back

Without a doubt the most disappointing Mexican food I have EVER tasted!

How do you Say Average in Mexican?. This is by far the worst Mexican Restaurant on the beaches. Not only is the food Very Average the staff have the worst attitude. If you want a nice meal on the beach front.... eat somewhere else....
Julian Henry
The most overprice and worst jalapeƱo poppers I've ever had. Average tacos. Slow service. Never again
LadyNikki Bieleny
Had lunch there today... Small place food was fabulous, presented beautifully and service was prompt. Prices are great too. 2 of us shared a Fajita the other person has Tostada. All wonderful and fresh beef melts in your mouth. If I was a local this would be a regular place for me!
AnnieT
Great concept and fun but bad bad service, slow to bring drinks and food and try to rush you to order and leave
DC
Great beef nachos, v affordable
Miles Herschel Cheifetz
Good start with prompt service and entree of crumbed jalapeƱo & cheese "poppers" came fast. These were delicious. This however was when everything deteriorated rapidly: main of beef enchiladas were swimming in (glued with) cheese and this consequently was all I could taste. Brads meal didn't arrive at all until we informed them and then they wouldn't let him leave until he'd received it. Brad & Graeme's mojitos were practically virgins. This waitress and the other staff were rude, arrogant English backpackers. Then, the ultimate insult: $144 for the 3 of us for a disgusting meal.
Holly Leigh Hodgkinson
The staff we really rude to begin with. My husband is actually Mexican and the quality of this food was worse then we have had in a local pub. The servings are the size of children's meals Which for he price (our bill was $43) for lunch not<br/>Worth it. They also overcharged us a side of extra goucamole and argued that it was normal to charge it even though we didnt order it ?!! This place was terrible I wouldn't recommend it to someone I didn't like.

This is a great street feed with a true Mexican feel, fresh food, cold beers and hot chilli dips. This is a must stop in
Mitchell Boulton
One of the poorer Mexican restaurants in Manly. Rude backpacker staff who get your order wrong then challenge you about it, followed up by meals that are small portions and consist mainly of cheese. Would not recommend.
