Review Showbox Coffee Brewers - Manly

Madeline Kulmar
Hands down THE best cafe for breakfast/lunch in Manly - consistently delicious food from a wonderful group of people. Plenty of gluten free options (much appreciated!) + extremely family/pet friendly spot. Highly recommend the scrambled eggs on GF toast with a side of smoke salmon *chefs kiss* Can’t wait to go back!

Mixed experience here in the past, but particularly disappointing last weekend. The cafe was very busy and only seemed to have two quite young children working as runners across the entire outside space, who seemed incredibly overrun and lacked support. We had a soy latte that had split. It happens at times, but never have we had a barista argue back (via the young girl running the coffees) that soy lattes ‘just do that’, as if we should be happy to pay 3-4$ for a split coffee. If you can’t make it don’t serve it. Edit: the owner should be celebrated for their recognition of how entitlement works. When goods are paid for the payee is indeed entitled to receive them. Preferably without having to insist twice that it should be drinkable, and without service that is reminiscent of the days when children worked the mines.

Felt I had to respond to the recent review from Michael complaining about how young a couple of the waiting staff are. As a regular Market Lane customer I’ve always found these girls to be so friendly, efficient and professional. Good for them to have taken the initiative to get themselves a holiday job. I think it’s great to see young locals earning money and gaining experience that will help them in future life. One of my very first jobs was waitressing and I learnt heaps about customer service, taking responsibility and working in a team from this.

Best coffee & muffins in Manly! Popular with locals and tourists alike. A wonderful little gem of a cafe with excellent food, coffee and service. Dog-friendly with outdoor seating. Close to Whistler car park and Woolworth Metro next door. Plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans. It tastes as good as it looks. Great little place for breakfast and brunch.

Market lane is the best spot for coffee & breaky/lunch in manly. They’re staff work so hard considering they are busy on the daily & they still provide you with the best food & coffee. Wouldn’t go anywhere else!!! ❤️

Coffee is good and breakfasts great. Good location to catch the morning sun and watch people walk by.

Disappointed by the attitude of the guys and manager working behind the bar. They forgot a part of my order, then when I asked for it later, they chased me down (twice) to pay for it when I had already paid. I had to access my internet banking on my phone to show them I had in fact paid. Food is great, but didn’t appreciate the third degree on a sat morning breakfast.

One of the beset Cafe's I have been too! Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, food is amazing. The Chicken Wrap is one of the best i have ever eaten. The entire menu looks amazing and not to mention the naughty juices. Will defiantly be back and a place to recommend to everyone i know. Thank you Market Lane!

My go to place for a coffee and a bite to eat. Chilled out and relaxed. Just what you want and they place some decent music too. Best place in Manly.

Some of the best coffee in Manly - great food, for once smashed avo on toast is not just that, it's alot more! Well worth the $. They also serve Inside Out almond milk which is hard to come by!

We dined here last Monday and it was excellent. The staff were very welcoming of our children. This was the best place that we went to in our whole Sydney trip.

A regular takeaway coffee drinker, I decided to have breakfast this morning. Best breakfast that I have ever had in Manly. No wonder the place is always crowded.

As they say when it comes to cafes and there coffee "go where the baristas go" and this barista gives it five stars, beautifully extracted, bought the crema to the top and the milk was perfect on my latte, so I ordered another one for the road.

Thanks for the awesome iced late this afternoon. Very chilled out and just hit the spot both cutting through the heat and the caffeine cravings in one fell swoop.

Amazing coffee.... Great precision shots........

Pretty good trendy cafe, if a little expensive.

Just what manly needed, a cafe that's food will keep you coming back. Much better then most of manly's other cafes that rely way too heavily on location rather then the menu.

Fantastic coffee, food and atmosphere The Nasi Goreng with cauliflower rice is superb
Becky Voisey
Insanely neat decor, a delicious smoothie & stylish staff- definitely going to be back here often!

A nice little cafe with friendly staff. Their coffee is pretty good and their food is decent.

We’d had this place on our must visit list for a while, but given we live in the East, it’s more of a destination visit for us. We had a spare weekend and headed over to Manly to try out a few places. Showbox was on our coffee hit list. The cafe could be described as vintage eclectic with its retro tables and signs, mixed with exposed brick and industrial pipes as the decor. It was more urban than beachy and reminded me of some of the Surry Hills cafes.

Just a short walk away from the beach front, it's easy to see how Showbox is a local favourite. The decor and brick walls give the shop an industrial feel, providing a good background to drink coffee and have conversation. The employees are very friendly and most certainly know their coffee.

We ordered a house blend flat white, Kenya single origin (black) and an apple, cinnamon & pistachio cake.

I really love this cafe! They make great coffee and there is a really nice ambience in the cafe, cool furniture and music! My favourite place to sit is on the window sill in the sun. The staff are friendly and the food is really great. The poké bowl, croissant and the muesli are my favourite things on the menu. One of my favourite places to eat in Manly by far!

Came here for a coffee as they have a good rating on beanhunter. Coffee was a bit too warm, but otherwise good. Took a healthy smoothie, which was very unpleasant to drink because of strings of ginger. We asked if they could maybe put it through a sieve, and we received a whole new smoothie which didn't have the stringy bits. Service was pretty friendly.

You got Poke.....well I'm so there! Ordered the Venice Beach Poke ($23) and was so happy to taste the colourful bowl of wasabi soy tuna sashimi, wild rice salad, wakame, pickled ginger, avocado, egg and macadamias. My lovely daughter enjoyed the California bowl with quinoa, kale, white beans, avocado, green apple, pickled cabbage but no egg! Came here on probably the hottest day of the year for lunch so instead of having a hot coffee we opted for a cold brewed icy one! Very delicious!

Food was good, coffee good. Staff all ordered domino's pizzas to eat for their meal, strange One British waitress sat on a table that was occupied to talk to her friend who was on another table. Very rude. She had no idea that was not good manners.

A buzzy local scene due to the top notch coffee and menu. Perfect for the lone diner looking to people watch over poached eggs and piccolos.

i tried the poke poke, it's quite salty, liked adding lots of soy sauce with rice, no suggest! For the dish I think it's a little bit overpriced

It's true, the coffee is good, not amazing though. Not amazing enough to advertise being a brewing cafe. They are hip, trendy and the service is horrendous. They are just too cool to give good service, you know. The food is worth it however. But only just.
The fellow customers are nicer than the 'we are manly hipsters' staff.

There is something about Manly beach that I love. Yes, it is always bustling with tourists, trying to surf on a board that is bigger than a submarine and consequently get dumped by a wave that an Aussie grommet would laugh out, but it is these little things that make it great because it is there to be enjoyed by all. Another aspect that makes Manly great is Showbox Coffee Brewers, a rocking coffee hangout located on Whistler street which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Yes, summer is here and there are no reasons not to hit beaches and of course stuff yourself with selections of good food from the well known coastal cafes. Showbox Coffee Brewers is one of them if you are in Manly and need something fresh, healthy but also unique in its own way.The cafe itself is quite small and packed with retro tables you'd see in a diner. The all-day menu is varied towards wholefoods with unusual touches you can't find it in other places.

Delicious, healthy and beautiful—what more do you want? Imagination in every spoonful and hospitality on every occasion. These people understand that food is not fuel—it's an experience.

The vibe of Manly Beach's local neighbourhood is welcoming and relaxed. Over the past few months, Sydney's northern beaches have been blessed with a vibrant burgeoning cafe scene. 這家咖啡餐廳看起來不很起眼,但它們的菜單卻都滿健康養生。味道不膩,口感也豐富。特調的有機奶昔和紅石榴醋酸飲料非常好喝!

Good service and was nice food but its all just a bit too paleo and hipster. Just wanted some old fashioned crusty bread doorstops with eggs, mushies and tomato etc so I guess I was just in the wrong place. Good effort but too try hard.

Get the incredibly tasty Mudhoney, an unbelievably thick cacao, almond milk, honey and banana smoothie or, on a hot summer day, the iced coffee shot. Food was a bit hit and miss on our 2 visits - some food options are rather heavy for an all-day menu.

Came in here after doing the spit to manly walk under recommendation that I could get a thick chocolate HEALTHY shake....and I did. It was epic. Avocado, cacao, honey...and some other things I forget.

I would have taken a seat for a coffee but some group had coordinated a strategic take over of all the tables to do what looked like a drawing class....so, pretty much the inverse of young people taking up seats to suck Wi-fi.

I'll be back

Disclaimer: This post has no nice pictures. I mean it does have a couple of pictures, but no pretty pictures of the food itself. The reasons for this will be apparent soon but I wouldn’t blame you for skipping this post.

I recently found myself in Manly on a sunny Saturday afternoon without being clued up on where to try for lunch. This is a big deal for me – the queen of planning ahead. After a quick last minute search online I picked out Showbox Coffee Brwers. Showbox opened in early 2014 and the owner was previously behind The Penny Royal – one of my favourite ‘hole-in-the-wall’ spots in Mosman. The location, being tucked away on Whistler Street means it’s nicely hidden away from the tourists, 100s of whom arrive in Manly each time a ferry pulls up at Manly wharf. But it’s still only a few minutes walk from the Corso so you can drop by pre or post a visit to the beach. If you’re looking for ocean views or a breakfast in the sun then Showbox won’t hit the mark. There’s no outdoor seating let alone sun drenched tables. And the fit out is more industrial than beach like, with brick walls, stools forperching versus sprawling and exposed pipework. But when the sun isn’t shining or you want to feast like
Little Eats Sydney
Showbox café in Manly showcases a variety of Australian specialty coffee roasters along with a delicious menu with a healthy skew. It’s right in the heart of Manly and a couple of doors down from Desire bookstore for the little ones. Bring cash or use PayPal.

Showbox it’s about time! I’ve been waiting for a café like this to open up in Manly and it was well worth the wait. It combines a great coffee selection with a creative healthy menu and the 60’s industrial diner décor compliments the beach vibe taking a different approach to the norm. We ventured down on Saturday lunchtime, already we could see people milling around the front and feared a long wait. The friendly staff confirmed that there would be about a 15min wait and took our name for a table. We were happy to wait because it gave us enough time to pop into Desire bookstore which is a couple of shops down Whistler Street

Will never go back here. Extremely rude, jaded and arrogant owner. Treats local customers like he is doing them a favour for pouring them a coffee. Plenty of other places in Manly for a decent flat white. Barefoot, Market Lane Cafe and Fika. Don't give this guy your business.

Great breakfast spot. Loved this little spot, good coffee and service, and the food was terrific. I would agree with a previous reviewer in one sense only- a little less garlic in the habanero dressing would be a great idea. I like garlic, but its pervasive taste stayed with me for a few hours afterward!!

A lot of care was taken in making my coffee and the rich chocolately flavours made me lick my lips in delight. The abandoned cinema decor works for the dark space and there were guests sitting on the windows that open to outside. I had this delicious and healthy ish avocado on rye. It was so textured and good, I'd have it next time I go.

Close to the worst breakfast I've had. The sourdough toast with guacamole and fetta was absolutely laced with garlic - So much that 1 hour later it's all I can taste in my mouth.

Manly breakfast just went up a notch!. Wonderful food. They get the combinations just right. Smashed pea, boccoccini, preserved lemon bruschetta was amazing. Black rice pudding, coconut milk, seasonal fruit =yummy yummy! Green plate breakfast was very health while being tasty too .Great choices and the menu changes regularly. I'm not a great fan of the coffee, however. Maybe they are trying out different blends. Each to his own,but we like our coffee with more punch! So good to see some innovation and good quality ingredients in Manly. Not to be missed!
