Review Emporio Manly - Manly

Great coffee and snacks and deli items. No hand sanitizer when I visited. Perhaps I could not see it. There is a lovely gift store attached

Nice health food! They’ve got the best salads and pastas! Great breakfast menu as well!

Nice place for breakfast. On a busy road but atmosphere inside is nice. Teas are very nice. Everything is a bit overpriced. Vanilla slice was not the nicest. Not the busiest cafe which is nice if you want to escape the bustle outside.

Slow service. When I was finally served, rude. Then when they forgot my order, no apology acted more as if it was an inconvenience. For the price you pay food average.

I'm a regular here now. Come at least a couple times a week for an energy smoothie. Staff remember your name too which is a nice touch 👌.

I must say I was very disappointed. Me and my friend we went there expecting nice experience as from the outside it looks fabulous, however that didn’t happen. There were many empty tables and many of them were dirty. For half an hour we were sitting there we have never seen any staff member cleaning any table. We were also very disappointed from the food. For $18 1 slice of toast bread, little bit of avocado spread over and two tiny pieces of goat cheese instead of feta on the menu. We were still hungry and had to go somewhere else. I regret I didnt take any picture. I am not even talking about unfriendliness of staff.

A bit pricey, but a great selection and fresh food. Good coffee too

The baristas know their way around frothing almond milk. Had the frothiest, silkiest Cappuccino this morning! Dangerously close to my house as well to become a habit. I wish I took a photo, but the cappuccino was too delicious to stop and take a photo.

Lovely local place to have coffee, food and most of all browse in the gorgeous gift and flower shop!

Words cannot describe how thrilled we were with the flowers the girls did for our wedding last month. They listened to a brief, added their own expertise/advice and the result turned out to be the most amazing group of bouquets and flower arrangements I had ever seen. Totally on point. Exceeded expectations! The compliments that we received is testament to the fact that it wasn't just me! For any bride, Ola and Kat were beyond amazing! Thank you

Thank you soooo much for your incredible floristry at our wedding. It was beyond beautiful and made our day even better than we could possibly imagine. Kobie & Michael x

Grossly overpriced, poor quality flowers and disinterested staff. After spending $120 on an arrangement for Mother’s Day last year, only to have them die (super embarrassing) only 2 days later, I said NEVER again. Last night I got desperate and had to buy some flowers for a friend. I ended up selecting what I thought was the only bunch there I wouldn’t have to take a mortgage out to purchase, after asking the price of a few things. A simple bunch of pink lillies, 5 stems. The price? $38!! I bought them as I had no other options at that point. They were then wrapped terribly in blue (!!) paper with a pretty crappy pink bow. Very disappointing and they looked terrible. Having just popped up to Woolies at Balgowlah, where they had bunches of pink lillies for $8, I will NEVER be buying flowers from Emporio Manly again. Being born and bred in Manly, I always like to support local businesses wherever possible, but not at the expense of being badly ripped off, for a poor quality product, and with poor service every time.

Soggy bread, hard butter, rusty fridges, unfriendly service, not attentive service, very dirty shelves. I would be interest do know the hygiene standards. Place has potential but needs some love from management.

ONLY FOR THE COFFEE. This place should have been out of business based on service a LONG time ago. But they turn out great coffee, day in, day out. Just don't expect for them to know your name ( even after 365 days and 2x visits a day), or get a smile or even get out quick. Don't expect great breakfasts. Sandwiches are pretty good. Salads average. Service abysmal. But did I mention the coffee !?!

epic !!!!!!

Having sent a letter of complaint which met with no response, either via email of the establishment's Facebook page, I posted the letter on the latter. Staff, friends or fans of the place then set about a concerted campaign of abuse & derision. Smart. Really smart.

A CRIME AGAINST COFFEE. AND CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Yesterday morning (around 10.30), in the company of a friend, I went to Emporio, for coffee.
Though it wasn't my first visit (I’d been a few times previously, with the same friend, on his recommendation), I see myself as a still nascent, aspiring customer.

On a couple of the prior occasions, I'd enjoyed very good coffee, but yesterday's was a very different experience.I ordered a regular long black for myself and the same-sized mocha, for my friend, as well as two protein balls. I was a little taken aback that the order could total $16.50, but didn’t question it, paid and took the table number supplied (19). My friend and I sat outside, in the (almost) sun, to the left of the entrance.

The coffee’s came and, though I embarked on mine immediately, found it wasn’t hot. or, as it happens, in any way robust in flavour, let alone sporting any crema. At best, it was ordinary. And, at best, tepid. As I was socialising, I didn’t make too much of this (a fleeting aside, perhaps, to my friend). However, where were the protein balls?

I went back inside, carrying my coffee, lest it get any cooler, to ask after such. ‘Oh, you’re meant to serve yourself’, I was told, by the tallish, ponytailed, would-be blonde now (wo)manning the coffee machine. ‘You should’ve been told that.’

Yes, I should’ve been; though, the thought occurs, if one is serving oneself water and mouth-sized protein balls, what is one paying $16.50 for, exactly?

Perhaps one should make one’s own coffee, as well. Then, at least, it might be hot.

Speaking of which, I mentioned my long black was less than hot and was met with a very terse, rude & utterly patronising response. It was as if I’d never had coffee before (I’ve been drinking espresso for going on forty years).

‘The water in the machine is boiling, so it can’t get any hotter. Perhaps the air’s getting to it.’ Yes, but I partook immediately and the weather was mild. Perhaps it was sitting on the counter for too long, or otherwise delayed. ‘I can put more hot water in it, but that’ll make it weaker.’ You don’t say. ‘D’you want more hot water?’ No, I want hotter coffee, not weaker coffee.

Since an offer of a replacement wasn’t forthcoming, I returned to my friend (having served myself two protein balls on the flat plates provided, off which they easily roll), disgruntled, trying not to make an ignorant, apparently incompetent individual, ill-versed in customer service, ruin my day.

Seriously, is this the best Emporio can do? Where do you find staff like this? To call the staffer in question a barista would be stretching credibility, that’s for sure. And her cluelessness clearly implicates an alternative career direction.

You & yours might’ve been in business since ’79, have a prime position in a tourist mecca, a loyal, regular clientele and a substantial captive market, but too much of this could still ruin you.

It’s a shame, as the positive experiences I’d had to this point were galvanising me to bring my own crowd and visit more regularly. Now, of course (contingent on your response), I’m not nearly so sure.

After all, for all the lousy, overpriced coffee so widely available on Sydney’s northern beaches, there are still a few reliable haunts, where the coffee’s good to excellent. And staff a whole lot more intelligent, empathic, helpful, warm & friendly.

And, the fact is, I can make much better—and hotter—coffee, at home.

Yours, in disappointment and disgust,

Lloyd Bradford (Brad) Syke.

Just walking into the Emporio makes you feel so good and healthy. This vast retail outlet houses a florist, a boutique, a deli and a cafe. Surrounded by quality fruit and veg beautifully displayed, you just want to grab a juicy piece of fruit and take a bite. I like to come here for a takeaway acai or green goodness smoothie along with half of the girls from the local Stella Maris school nearby. It's seems like it is almost the school tuckshop at certain times of the day as they come to get their daily nourishment. Lots of great salads, pastas, cakes, slices and herbal teas! You can also order egg dishes all day along with good coffee!

Every time I've been here I've had a negative experience. Not going back again. Seems the staff are more interested in talking to each other then focusing on their customers. No sense of urgency or understanding that people don't have all day to wait for their coffee and food. Think the final straw was when I was asked to pay 50c extra for a squirt of mayo on my sandwich after I had already paid, yet the week before the guy serving put it on when I didn't even ask for it.... sigh.

One for the manly locals a little further up the north of the world famous beach. The choice of fresh food is abundant, but it can be very loud and standard of service mixed. Great place to grab a lazy breakfast or takeaway fresh lunch!

Excellent coffee

A huge and obviously popular patronage from locals on the weekend

Our observation over 3 days was positive with a rotation of different fresh salads daily

Interesting venue - fresh fruit and vegetables. Flowers home wares eat in cafe. coffee ...

Love the location and in house florist, and have returned many times. But just had such a disappointing eggs benedict I think I will avoid unless just having a coffee. Raw spinach dumped on impossible to cut toast. Fake hollandaise sauce squirted on top of the only redeeming feature, 2 beautifully poached eggs. It literally left a bad taste in my mouth. Disinterested staff don't care. Stick to coffee, muffins and flowers.

Manly local. Great good great owner great coffee great atmosphere but arrogant impolite staff who make you feel like you are a burden to them and you are interrupting their day.

Great food bad service.. The food is great, but the service is average. They have no idea on how to be polite and they don't seem to realise who has been waiting and for how long. You can wait your turn for five minutes and then they will serve someone who has just walked in. I don't get it, but it has happened to me so many times, that I never eat here anymore. The staff do sometimes smile, and it has been rumoured that the coffee guy smiled once in 2007, but I can't confirm that.

Well worth any wait !! Family owned business with beautiful Italian family recipes. Great staff, great coffee, great food and the ultimate place to stop if you need a little something delicious for a special occasion.

Yummy food, pretty terrible service. Won't eat there again after standing waiting to order for over 5 minutes whilst the chick was literally right in front of me cleaning. She completely ignored me and my friends and didn't apologise when we eventually ordered. If I wasn't so hungry I would have walked out. I work in hospitality and the whole point is about being hospitable to your customers, not at this joint. Disappointed and annoyed!
