Review Misschu - Manly

Kat Clayton
Its a great cheap and cheerful spot with yum fresh food. The salmon on vermicelli salad is a fave. I recently got "table service" there which was nice for a change, rather than having to stand order and pay at the window. Like the fact they do takeaway home delivery for a quick, healthy and tasty go to option. Love having Miss Chus in Manly!

I love Misschu Manly! Located steps off of the Manly ferry this is a great spot to stop on the way home for a quick bite! The quirky outside seating including ironing board tables and milk-crate chairs are just make every passer by stop and look twice! There is always a queue but it mores rather quickly! I absolutely love the mushroom crepes and of course the dumplings and buns are delicious as well! The Vietnamese bread rolls are delicious! So if your looking for a great place, that is great quick food and cheap pop by the Manly Misschu for sure! Yum!

I've eaten at a few different misschus around Sydney and always enjoyed the food. However the one at Manly didn't seem as good, with the rice paper rolls quite tough and not as fresh as I had hoped. The dumplings were great though. It's not BYO but you can order alcohol from the limited menu. It's tucked away from the main strip of Manly but has been busy every time I've walked past. A good choice for a casual night out.

My favourite place for Vietnamese fare in Sydney... I absolutely love their dumplings and rice paper rolls.. The rice paper rolls are delicious and fresh, and my favourites are the prawn and raw mango, and, the chicken satay. They are crunchy with fresh ingredients, with delicately balanced flavours! The dumplings including the recently introduced Bahn Cuhon are awesome with some interesting flavour combinations. And the vermicelli net salad is crunchy yet delightfully fresh. The setting is fun and they have tried to replicate a Vietnamese train station, as is the signature of all Miss Chu restaurants in Sydney!

This is the second time I went to this restaurant. Love the little place near Kings Cross, so we tried it. Great 2 for 1 deal on dumplings - the first time. Every Tuesday to Thursday, really good quality dumplings, very plump and large and served steaming hot in their own broth YUM! I love dumplings, and was going to be a regular - at least once a week as I work and live locally. The server on our first experience was great. Attentive, conversational and fast. The second time - I ended up walking out. Which is very unlike me. We were the only people in the shop (5:45pm) and waited over 15 minutes to be served. When I finally went to counter, I was told its not table service. It was last week? I ask him about some items. He takes 10 minutes to find out as he does not know the menu at all. I try to order food. He sighs, trys to overcharge me, and then ... Last straw: "Its not that hard to understand" I walked out. TERRIBLE SERVER - should not be in customer service.

LOVE the comment about this being the best Vietnamese restaurant in Manly. Of course it is!! Is there another Vietnamese restaurant in Manly?? First, the service is OK to good. However, if you are passionate about your Asian food, then this is not the best place. Ordered a pho there last Saturday, remembering their dishes on the small side so ordered a medium Pho (there was no option for large), it was half of the size I ate today in the city. The price ($14) at Miss Chu as oppose to $12 in the city. The Chef basically lied about the beef in the soup was rare. Those of you who know your pho would know that there is type of pho comes with rare beef which is then cooked in the hot soup. I have been eating Pho in many cities, including during my holiday in Vietnam. I know when the beef was cooked in the soup and when the beef was pre-cooked. So I am disappointed that chef lied about that. The manager came out later to chat with us and she explained because of the clientele, they have to cook their food more Australian, if you know what I mean. I understand why the manager would say this and have no issue with her, just disappointed the chef lied and was not passionate about the cooking. So felt my pho crave was completely unsatisfied. Had a pho in the city at a non specific Vietnamese restaurant today, much better! Oh well.

Nestled right by the beach, this tuckshop provides all the great menu items the other misschu branches are known for. Be sure to try the Banh Cuon. This is a traditional Vietnamese steamed rice crepe enveloping some minced pork and wood ear mushrooms, topped off with chilli and fried onions. They are silky smooth and full of!

Happy to try, wouldn't go back though. A bit of mixed lettuce, some noodles and some satay chicken which I would say was a little on the pink side all for $15. Overpriced in my view.
