Review Seafood Lovers Cafe - Margate

Seafood Lovers Cafe is your basic fish and chip shop. Location is good as it is located across the road from a beach. There is only one picnic table on the beach side close to the shop. However, there are a few tables and chairs located outside where you can enjoy your meal. Cod was cooked perfectly and tasted nice. Chips were very lightly seasoned but cooked well. Environment appears a little worn down; however, it was clean and tidy. Customer service was subpar. Staff seemed uninterested when taking orders. Price for our meal was $29.80 for two pieces of fish, small Chips and two drinks. I personally believe that this was a little too steep for the portion of food we received.

Good fish and chips at a fantastic location. Nice portion of chips, fish was excellent. One of the best veggie burgers I've had at a fish and chip shop too. Would definitely recommend if you're out at the beach nearby.

Just be aware. The prices of the fish displayed are frozen an imported.. the cashier told me the local prices so my $9 piece of fish ended up $12 but I didn't mind because the fish in the cabinet looked a good size. However when I opened the box the piece of "snapper" looked about it weighed maybe jist shy of 100 grams. I It was clearly not of the same fish in the display windows. It was so tiny. I did get the combo with chips and salad plus three pieces of calamari. I left $29 lighter in the wallet but full of cheap chips and salad. However I will say the calamari was lovely. The fish seemed a little smelly (I had it baked so you can definately notice) but all in all I would go back if the pricing wasn't so inconsistent and confusing... why have a board?

Zero customer service. I felt like we were bothering them by actually placing money in their hand. Not one smile, from them or us - read on! We ordered fish and chips with an extra serve of calamari and chicken nuggets for my daughter. The fish looked like the old lady in There's Something About Mary. Old, curly and brown. No taste at all, could only taste the fat in the batter. The food was so greasy it left a horrible sheen on my fingers. The chips! We didn't mention the chips. They came out bright yellow and no salt. We asked for chicken salt - they don't have it. And apparently no salt at all 👎 The calamari were a good size, cooked well - but zero flavour. Bland and old. The free tartare sauce were those generic squeeze packs, which are horrible and synthetic. The best things we experienced were the CHICKEN NUGGETS!! as my daughter loves processed frozen food, so she was happy. Never again. Frozen, imported and tasteless food is not for us!

Tried this place again as it has had a facelift but unfortunately the food hasn’t had the same attention. They still don’t offer chicken salt as an option leaving the chips bland. Price was reasonable, and seafood itself ok but with other providers with a better offer in the area I would recommend going elsewhere. Such a shame as it is a great location and close to home.

Have to say I was very unimpressed with our dinner tonight. The calamari was fine. The fish that came with our box was awful. Had a musty taste soft texture and didn’t taste of fish!!! Obviously frozen but something has happened to it between frozen and cooked. Not impressed

Really nice fish and chips here. Coffee was decent as well. Good seating out the front and along the side wall.

My family of 7 came here yesterday to celebrate my husbands 83rd birthday. Well, I've got to say, the food was absolutely delicious and it has to be the best Seafood we've tasted in a long, long time. Also the staff were extremely helpful and very efficient. We will definitely go back there and will recommend to everyone. Thankyou so much!!!

Either have to reduce the price of the burger with the lot to match the size, Or increase the size for the price. Had better, had worse, not bad in the taste department, just not big enough for how much it cost. Chips were pretty good, but you need to start using chicken salt. Seriously, chicken salt makes a difference. $20.35, still hungry, see what the future holds

Has to be one of the best fish & chip shops in North Brisbane would recommend it . Also great location & friendly staff 👍👍

Love this place and the quality of their food. Even when we moved house we still travel here just because we love it so much! Really great value for money too. The owner and staff are always so friendly and welcoming and they def know and look after their regulars. I recommend all my friends and family to go here when they're in redcliffe.

This has to be the best Seafood on the north side of Brisbane! Such a beautiful view looking out over the water at Margate, the food is always amazing and so well presented! We've been here twice in as many weeks to celebrate special occasions and can't thank the staff enough for their friendly faces and wonderful service...and Karen, your dad is such an amazing fellow, what a lot of wonderful stories he shared from your swimming days...we hope he enjoyed his cake, we were more than happy to share a piece with him...

Was looking for a place to have fish and chips with the family today and came across your shop. We all had to say that it was the best fish and chips any of us has eaten in a very very very long time.

I would love to thank Chris and Karen and her lovely father who always comes and talks to us and has a pat with our baby girl Jasmine-Angel ( dog ) for the best fish and chips, so fresh and crispy and not at all oily and soggy, I'm a person that's no good with fried food at all and get so sick especially when not cooked right, my husband said to give you guys a chance so I did and I am so happy I did, I can finally go out for lunch. We have now come to you guys for a couple of years now, the staff are all very friendly and our food is perfect and orders are always right. A very good feed of Fish and Chips! The only thing that I have found is the chips aren't consistantly cooked right. Most times they are great! But sometimes (I'd say 1 out of 3 visits), the chips are under cooked and are still firm in the middle. Other than that, the service is great, the location is great, and the Calamari is pretty much the best you can get! �

Been here a couple of times thanks to my mum taking me. But omg. Both times, service is fantastic, food is amazing and the seafood is always fresh. Highly recommend.

Have enjoyed the take away burgers in the past. But had time to sit enjoy the view and savour the fresh seafood and salads. Topped off with friendly cheery service. We'll be back.

Visited today and ordered fish burgers, chips and calamari. Wow! The best calamari we've ever had - so fresh and delicious. And awesome, friendly service. Would love to visit again one day.

Went there on Saturday night for dinner and was the best fish and chips i have had in a very long time. Fish was lovely and white and flaky and very tasty. And the chips very scrumptious. Great job guys don't listen to the bad reviews. We had friendly and a caring smile and courteous service.
