Great value for money meal and was lovely location...used to take kids out there years ago...was lovely to go back with my partner who used to go there as a young man. Lovely memories re-created 🥰

Red Dolphin Seafood is a quaint little fish and chip shop located opposite Margate beach. Fish, chips and dagwood dog all cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Environment appears dated; however, it was clean and tidy. Location is perfect as it is located across the road from a beach, grassy picnic area and picnic tables. Staff always seem busy but continue to be friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable.

Great fish and chips. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Food was the best we have had. The person who posted about the vinegar obviously doesn't know its a natural fermentation. Gobsmacked at some of the fake review. This place was fantastic.

Copping out on dinner, due to moving house. Too tired to cook. Ordered take away. Chips are chips, I don't do chips, so not a great judge. The crumbed fish was nice, but I love their calamari. Service was friendly, seems we got in just in time, they were starting to pack up. Food was fresh, didn't take too long and family was happy.

OMG! I took may young fella down to the beach for a early evening walk, and decided to get him some Calamari and chips for dinner. Didn’t think much of it until we opened up the freshly cooked meal and found the biggest and most tender pieces of Calamari accompanied by an extremely generous serve of crispy golden chips. My 7 yo usually has two or three Calamari rings and a few chips, but before I knew it he had smashed through 80% of the squid leaving me to enjoy the scraps and a few chips. This place is definitely going to become our new favourite weekend haunt, and is undoubtedly worth a visit if you are looking for a great feed in a perfect setting. The staff welcomed us with smiling faces, and the service was quick and without hassle.

Fast seafood, good variety on their menu, crunchy chips. Cooked fast, tastes fresh, friendly service. Nicely located along the waterfront with beautiful views of the bay and access to the walking paths in either direction for a post meal stroll.

Haven't been there in years. The coffee was amazing! The chips and potato scallops were drowned in Salt. We couldn't finish them. Will def visit them again soon, will ask for less salt.

I was a bit concerned with all the negative reviews which have been happening recently. However we decided to go to the place and found that the chips are really tasty and the fish was yummy. Super fast service and huge portion sizes so maybe they were just going through a bad patch because we just saw five star food
$30 for 2 meals of fish and chips. The ONLY option was Cod and chips. Cod was cooked fine but we ordered a seafood stick as an extra and were literally sick on the way home. Most of the staff seemed uninterested in being there and offered no real solution to the "Cod, Cod or Cod?" situation.
The cook was friendly and personable. Very expensive. Great location but there are better places to eat unfortunately. We will not be back.

Great place Friendly helpful staff. I have to check things as my kid has allergies and the staff are always great and helpful, even when it's busy. It can be just that as its got a great location beach side so often adds great food or cool ice cream to your day at the beach. I love that they have a note on the source of there fish so you can make an informed choice, which coming from time in the fishing industry I do. Easy to overeat on their generous servings. Glad they have a fresh salad option. My favourite chipper in the universe!

Had a fabulous day by the beach and the food was amazing. Great quality, lots to choose from and the prices were really good. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend a visit.

Our first visit to Red Dolphin was lovely .. fat chips, but cooked well and crispy battered cod .. delicious. We've been back several times, each visit the chips were half cooked and the battered cod was crisp on the outside but had a thick layer of inedible floury batter mixture inside and very, very fatty. We also tried the fish breadcrumbed but it was like eating an old shoe. They do a good trade but I think only because they are positioned on the beach front and are therefore convenient. Today we threw out about 90% of our meals. A waste of $20. We won't be going back.

I absolutely love their chips and gravy and to 11 bucks it's actually a pretty good amount of food. I'd recommend not going when it's too busy cause they are a little shop and will have to wait about 20 mins if getting a decent size meal but I'm not gonna harp on them for that. Good food and staff are always friendly to me.

My favourite fish and chip shop on the peninsula. Food is always cooked to perfect and served up with quick and friendly service. Have been here several times and can't fault it.

Went there on Saturday. Got food poisoning and spent all weekend sick as a dog. It was really busy & they were selling loads of fish so I hope not too many people were affected. Chips with chicken salt are nice but can't recommend I'm afraid.

We went there at around 2pm on a Saturday, and they were busy so we thought hey must be good! The beach looks lovely the weather is perfect let's go here.

Walk in, 1 cashier who's also serving, and two others working. To busy to handle that, so everyone's getting bad service. Waiting at the counter for a while then ask for a chicken burger and a serve of chips. Get told the burger would be 20+ minutes! What!

Cancel the burger, just a 7.50 chips and a small gravy. Still had to wait around 15 minutes! For hot chips!
They were bland and not very good, even with chicken salt.

Might go there again if it's a last resort, but not the best choice!

My partner had been telling me about this takeaway for ages and how amazing the chips were. I wasn't disappointed. We went and just ordered a large serve of chips with chicken salt, boy I was surprised when the chips came out to be shoestrings and not regular cut. I was very happy with how crisp and fluffy they still were and the chicken salt was moreish.

Really bad food. We order a fisherman's basket. Calamari was not cooked properly, tasted weird. Chips were half cooked, no salt at all.
Very disappointed. Never going back. And will make sure that no one that I know is going to have a meal at this place.
Thank you.

YUMMY. Freshest seafood take away I have had in years. Will definately be back when visiting Queensland again

Disappointing. $18 for this? Anemic chips and a 'Fishermans Basket' that doesn't even have calamari. Don't waste your money

Had a great lunch here with my sister and mum! Fresh fish, cooked well with delicious chips!! The salad was also nice and fresh. Felt very welcome with lovely service :) good little local fish shop.

GO ELSEWHERE!!!. DISGUSTING FOOD (tastes as if the fish were frozen, thawed out and left in the sun)! DISGUSTING SERVICE (smart ass 'chefs', lazy cashiers and generally do not care)! YUCK YUCK YUCK!!!!!!! Will not waste our time or money here again! very disappointing!!!!

Return visit and consistently very good. Perch $7.50 very large piece, Barra $8.00 chips for 4 $5, calamari (can't recall price but not tough) freshly cooked food, customer focussed staff. Sandgate would be closer but this place is worth the trip.

-----12 Mar, 2014-----

Visited 7/3/14. Snapper and chips for two people. Very good quality fish and two large pieces. Small size chips would have been enough. Will return.

Chippies. We first went to this little shop because others were far too busy, we were greeted by friendly faces and our order came out quickly, the food was tasty and cooked nicely. The chippies are yummy and the menu is well priced. Not the nicest place to sit, so take your little pack across the road and enjoy it by the water.

Impressive!. The Three of us (Myself, Mum and Dad) had some take away fish 'n Chips here and were very impressed with the fresh quality and the great service.
You pick what fish/ seafood you want to be cooked straight from the display.
The Bass was cooked to perfection and the chi[s just that right amount of bite.
Looks like it';s run by a family and has that warm welcoming touch to it. Will definitely be back here very soon.
AND it's open on Tuesday's like most others are not.
