Review Thai Thonglor 55 - Maribyrnong

Good quality Thai restaurant. Nicely decorated with Thai themed decor with very friendly and efficient staff. I went for Massaman chicken curry and serve of satay skewers. All was prepared well and tasty. Prices were average, and compared to other establishments. Will visit again.
Jose “Jay” Sierra
It was really good. I recommend trying the fish as it is the most popular dish. The staff is really nice and one of them took the order without writing anything hehe.
Terry Kane
The best place to eat if you like authentic Thai food. Recommended to everyone.

Quiet at the time we went for lunch. The food was fabulous. Intimate place. Service was great! 100% recommended, we'll be back again.
Grace L
The food was mediocre compared to its price(only the duck curry was decent). well-trained and friendly staff, decorations does somewhat give authentic thai vibe.
Mitali Desai
Food was great and interiors lovely. Red curry, spring rolls, fish cakes were all fine. My suggestion is serve the rice covered, or a bit more softer-cooked as it dried out very fast.
Sam Dar
This was our favourite Thai restaurant until the recent menu change. They now force you to have duck if you want the red curry, which is not the best meat for this dish in my opinion. They have also watered down the base of the curry and added strange ingredients like grapes… Very disappointed. “if it ain’t broken don’t fix it”

Fabulous first visit for dinner with excellent service and delicious food. We had the duck curry and Pad Thai and both were sensational. Will definitely be back again soon!
Phuong Nguyen
The food was not tasty. We ordered the pad thai n all the noddles stick together and it not taste like pad thai at all. The green curry i only smell coconut milk, no another flavour. And the price is so expensive compare to another thai restaurant. And the menu makes it so hard to order. But the decoration of the resturant looks nice. You paid that price for the decor. Where is the 5 star come from. Maybe they never try another restaurant before.
Rouhi Maher
Perfect place, great quality and fresh food, extremely friendly staff, I am sure you never regret trying it.

What a great venue this is. I celebrated my birthday there last night and the food, service and staff were excellent. Will be back and with extra friends. This restaurant is one of the west's big secrets.
Charles Cassar
Some of the best Thai food I have ever eaten in my life! Delicious flavours, beautiful presentation and wonderful spices. Interior decoration is great (so many beautiful Thai dishes and artefacts). Friendly and welcoming service. The tapioca balls are amazing! Don't miss an opportunity to eat here!

We’ve been eating at Thonglor Thai for many years because the food is delicious and the service is great.
Don Barrett
Great place to be for Thai food. Great service and friendly staff.
Diana Duong
It's ok. Probably 3.5 stars. Pleasant but nothing to rave on about. I couldn't even taste the alcohol in my cocktail
Janetsee Tsu
Have you changed the chef ? It was very nice the pass few times I’ve been there but quite disappointed this visit

I have eaten many Thai restaurants in Melbourne, but I would say Thai Thonglor is the best Thai restaurant in the city. Delicious foods, nice decoration, and friendly staff. The price is not very cheap but it reflects the foods quality.

The food was good, a bit expensive, staff were very friendly. We like the ambience, we definitely coming back!

Had my 22nd birthday at Thonglor Thai restaurant. It was a magnificient night. The restaurant is beautiful, it has a pleasant, soothing ambience. Food was delicious, staff was very friendly and professional. Just like other fine dining restaurant. Would highly reccommended to everyone and will come back again soon. Thanks again Thonglor

Thank for your fantastic 10year celebration. Was an amazing night and your generosity greatly appreciated xx

Thonglor is my favourite Thai restaurant for years. The food is flavourful but not too salty. They have the best Pad Thai that I have ever tried. Their soup are flavourful but not too salty. Their best fish must be duck fried rice. The only negative is their portion seems to be smaller overtime.
Jessie Tran
My go to Thai restaurant. I love green curry and Tom kha soup. I generally love the pad Thai as well, however the most recent time I got it, it was too sour and not like how it tasted usually. I got two servings as well this. :( I’m still rating it 4 stars cause all the other times have been good but I hope the next Time I order I won’t be disappointed
Joseph Cardillo
Have had a couple of great meals here now, BBQ chicken and red curry have been standouts. Best Thai in the inner north west.
Annabel Khamly
Been here over 5 times and it is a great local Thai restaurant. Prices are okay, service is great and food is pretty good. The restaurant is very decorated and has dim lighting... so some may like the ambience. Recommend the Pad Thai, Fried Rice, Thai Iced Tea Tom Yum soup and Green Curry.
Chicane71
Great COVID friendly restaurant - actually food has improved since lockdown
Petchii Bracoulias
The service and cleanliness was very good, made us feel very comfortable being in a restaurant after so long and the food was outstanding as always. Highly recommend the Green Chicken Curry.

Been a couple of times now and never let us down! Great food, great people and cheap as chips 👌👌
Vi Tran
Delicious and authentic Thai food in the west. Been many times with my friends and it has never let us down. Can’t go wrong with the pad Thai , green curry and the papaya salad- get spicy!

Absolutely love this place, located in a quiet and beautiful area of Maribynong. The restaurant was designed with Thai elements.
I came at a Friday night and was busy, almost fully seated. Tables are close, but not too bad, very thai style. Food were amazing. Compared to other thai restaurants, was a bit pricey but came with a bigger portion.
Tom yum was a bit sweeter than normal but I'm a sweet tooth so like it.
Serenella Prelaz
Every dish we tried was really good - the Pad Thai was particularly delicious. Staff are friendly and professional, the decor is great and prices were reasonable. A must try for lovers of Thai food.
Mikee Inocencio
Wonderful atmosphere. Very well priced. Amazing food

Visited on a weekday and the restaurant was fairly busy. We ordered Tom yum soup, kee mao noodles, duck salad, red duck curry and pineapple fried rice The tom yum was really tasty but not as spicy as I would like. The curry was nice but not creamy or thick enough. The kee mao was served with rice noodles which were different, not as chewy as I would like but still great flavour. Overall a great local joint, I recommend the pineapple fried rice and Tom yum noodles.

Real Thai cousins right here!!!

Heard this place is been highly recommended so booked a table for my partners birthday, and I gotta say the masa man beef curry is the most amazing beef curry we had ever tasted!

Myself and my partner appreciated great food and drinks here for over 2 hours.

Overall this was a 10/10 experience and we will be returning soon thanks to the friendly team

Found this place as we wanted to eat closer to the airport and definitely was not disappointed!

Firstly the decorations of the restaurant were awesome, having small dioramas of Thai food stalls and such made my partner turn into a kid again.

Lastly, the food we ordered was really good and tasty, highly recommend the curries and noodles! Very punchy flavours and fresh ingredients.

Overall a great Thai restaurant that has a very relaxed atmosphere and some very great food, I'll give it a 4.4/5. Highly recommend if you're in the west side of Melbourne and oh, it's only a few minutes from Highpoint shopping centre.

Amazing food! This restaurant is very unique with all their decorations, excellent service and just delicious food! Absolutely loved this hidden gem in Maribyrnong! We will be back!

We had dinner with friends here, foods are amazing, we eat fish , chicken , fried rice , green papay salat , are so good . And very good service, We will come back

Rating 3.5

Nice tom yum soup, fresh seafood used, a little salty to my liking, but my partner said ok with that.

The stir fried beef is a must try dishes on the menu, however i dont find anything too special about this dish personally. Taste ok with the hint of lemongrass flavour but I wouldn’t say is a “must try” dish.

The signature fried rice with prawn and crab meat. I don’t find much of crab meat, but the fried rice texture was good, not too oily.

Overall good food and friendly service.
Food Lover
This Thai restaurant looks good and the presentation of the food is good too. But I feel the food taste is abit mild and is on sweet side and abit pricey and serving is abit on the smaller side. The menu is big so there a lot of dishes to choose from, customer service is ok.
Shierly Lau
Very pretty and authentic Thailand restaurant. The food was all delicious, very tasty and rich of flavour. We bought crab fried rice, chicken satay, som tam with crispy pork, whole fish with mixed herbs and red duck curry...and for dessert we bought banana fritter with coconut ice cream. All of them are super delicious...I will definitely come again. And also very good service.
Amberlee Yup
This place was nice, a bit pricey but food was good.

Very kind staff. this place is decorated beautifully and the atmosphere is lovely... you really do feel as if you are in some kind of castle or kingdom.

The food here is okay, it is a little overpriced and it is not the best Thai food you can get but it is still good and great for large groups.
Taylor Le
It’s a decent Thai restaurant!
You walk in and immediately thrown into a vibrant scene of Thai culture!
Their cutlery is a sight for sore eyes, and their Thai red duck curry is definitely a winning dish!
Would come back here again on special occasions!
Paul J Fisher
Old favourite.... Restaurant located opposite Aldi in Maribyrnong. The vibe is so Thai, quality Thai, the decor is also Thai and feels homey...busy place with good service. Great menu and awesome food. we will be back.
Van Nguyen
Multiple of bad experiences with this place.
A great example was that I had a family banquet here and the next day, a few family member had diarrhoea and really bad stomach ache.
Hygiene is questionable, but the quality is good. Service is friendly. But this should be re-evaluated.
Pumpkin
Very looove the authentic thai decoration and very ambience. Staff are very friendly. The food they have soooo many varieties. We ordered too much more than we can handled. 😅 so what leftover we ask the box for takeaway. Love especially the pineapple fried rice. But remember the portion are big!!
Bit too pricey but we satisfied
Withaknifeandfork
We loved 😍
Great local Thai place
Standard is always good for when I am craving a pad Thai.
I loved the pad Thai and pad see yew!

We disliked 😖
This place has to give prawn crackers but recently have always “run out” when we ask.
It is a little pricier than other Thai places
Zaid Diego
The ambience is excellent; the staff is welcoming; the food is fantastic, and the best part is that the price is affordable. It's affordable for families because one can share with others. I would definitely go back for seconds!
Vegemite Girl
Love the decor and service and the fact that you get prawn crackers free. Good prawn crackers too- not those bright pink ones. We had roti, chicken larb, soy and cashew vegies, fried rice with prawns and chicken/calamari flat noodles. For drinks thai milk tea, beer and moscato. A lot more expensive than my other locals but i still liked it! We went on a Wednesday (school night, no alcohol for me), but i would return on a weekend night for red wine or cocktails! Have added photos separately.

Thonglor has a very nice interior, very warm and welcoming. The staff here we’re very friendly and helpful. It’s quite pricey for the serving sizes and tastes. It was pretty average tasting food, needed
more flavouring and spices, the soup and curry were quite bland. We ordered the snapper with tamarind sauce, and it was pretty disappointing as there was very little tamarind sauce or flavour on the fish. It wasn’t an amazing experience, but it wasn’t all terrible.
Tashveen14
Thonglor Thai restaurant has some great Thai delicacies to try, I tried to Pad Thai with Chicken and personally loved it. Perfect portion size and amazing taste. Great service too. Would love to visit again.
Liv Do
Love this restaurant as my go to restaurant or when I’m craving some spice! Service is always quick and friendly, and the quality of the foods is top notch. My favourites are the pad thai, tom yum soup and salted crab papaya salad.
Nigel Wong
Food is normal but pricey. Serve us the wrong dish and did not apologize for their mistake. Took us a while to gain staff attention as they were just having fun chatting with each other. Will not return for a second visit
Foodlover12
Love the decor of this place. Food was ok but a bit on the pricey end for very average tasting thai food. There are better Thai food around the area for cheaper price.

It’s hard to support a local business with such poor customer experience. We arrived at 6pm after a day out and asked for a table for two adults, seat for a toddler and a pram (newborn). Despite having most of the bigger tables booked and empty. There were a few set up for 7.45pm. We asked if we could use the table and leave before 7pm to give them plenty of time to reset for the next set of customers and was flatly refused with some lame excuse of “they might arrive early”. In our decades of dining, you don’t get to be seated an hour earlier just because u rock up early, unless the restaurant was empty. The way we saw it, the staff and manager were either too lazy to set up the table or was simply discriminating against a family with pram. Not acting entitled here just left a sour impression of the restaurant as a whole. Particularly with the way they handled our family. Would make a mental note to never come back again
Nicole Wamba
Confused about the high scores, food was pretty bland and the serving size was quite small. Not sure I will return. Food is reasonably priced.

Khao Pad Sai-Ua
Love the decor! Every time I come here it is like stepping into a different world. The restaurant looks so luxurious but also has a casual and welcoming feel. I love how they have included different parts of Thailand dishes into their menu. Although it is a lot, it is never a bad thing to have too many options. I ordered Khao Pad Sai-Ua from Northern Thailand. The dish was delicious! I really liked the Thai lemongrass tangy flavour infused with the pork sausage. They were very generous with the proportion of rice and sausage, I had to get take away for most of it. Every one knows Thai fried rice is always packed with flavour and very fragrant which is exactly this dish, you will not be disappointed. Overall, a lovely place serving quality Thai food!

😱Lizzie’s first impression: this place has got to be my favourite local Thai restaurant. The food is so tasty and the staff are very friendly.

🍩Lizzie enjoyed: the special fried rice comes in a pineapple and actually looks very impressive - also very tasty. The pad Thai was delicious it had the right amount of portion of meat and veggies. My favorite is the green curry as it has so many veggies inside unlike other Thai restaurants and also has a lovely aroma to it.

🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: took a little while to grab the waiters attention but nonetheless a great experience here.

🥇Lizzie rates overall: this place is a great place to go to locally and definitely worth trying if you’re in the area.

Ordered a few curries and beef salads but the taste was so poor the group I came with could not finish it. Very disappointed and Would not recommend.

The Food at Thonglor Thai Restaurant is absolutely delicious, staff are very friendly and the ambiance is perfect. One of my favourite Thai restaurants in Melbourne.
Spicy Chopsticks
Lovely thai restaurant, great ambiance, good for couples/groups/children. Ordered the pad thai, tom yum soup, and a curry dish. Dishes have the right flavours , but does not stand out particularly from other Thai restaurants in Melbourne. It did took a while for the dishes to be served even though it didnt seem busy, I did went on 2 separate occasions, the second time was quick, perhaps it was just luck. Nonetheless, if you are located near maribyrnong, this is the local thai joint you should give a chance to.
Linda
Great quality Thai food and one that stands out in Melbourne’s West. A comprehensive menu with lots to choose from. The flavours were authentic and good cuts of meat were used. The portions were so so and the ambience of the place was great. Recommend it!
JM
Thonglor Thai surprised us with its great food and attentive customer service. We dined on a Wednesday night and it was actually reasonably busy, something we did not expect on a weeknight. The waiter was very helpful with ordering for a larger group.

The food was tasty and came out promptly. We enjoyed all of the dishes we ordered, particularly the duck salad which we highly recommend. The only dish that let us down was the beef Massaman curry, which to us seemed to taste more like a red Thai curry.

This restaurant is casual and homely, an easy go-to for dinner in the suburbs.
Debby
Nicely decorated and awesome service by the restaurant owner. The spicy sauce on the fish tasted sweet rather than spicy. The stir fry is pretty average lacking in those Thai taste profile. Papaya salad is spot on in terms of crunchiness, acidity and saltiness.
Thonglor • Thai
God I just love Thai food, warms my soul and that’s exactly what Thonglor does to you. The moment you walk in you seriously feel like you’re in Thailand, the smells, atmosphere and even what the waiters and waitresses wear. You have to have green curry when you go to any Thai joint but trust me this place won’t leave you disappointed. Can’t wait to be back here.

Our favourite restaurant, Staff are always very friendly, the Food is phenomenal, and it is a very relaxing environment. Highly recommend for special occasions, or just a good meal.

Food and ambience always good -can get busy so I recommend booking. Service is great too with SMS reminder re your booking. Been in business for 8 years so has stood the test of time

Two for lunch green chicken curry thai fish cakes and scotch filet in asian sauce. Friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere.Second visit didnt disappoint.

PROS
fantastic menu that showcases food from different regions of Thailand, absolutely beautiful traditional thai style interior and an awesome local place for a romantic meal. A detailed menu with options for vegos, fish eaters or otherwise.

CONS
Pricey imo and I've found their curries are very light on the vegetable component (both takeaway and dine in) which is a big negative for me, especially when you're ordering the vegetable option. Flavour isn't as strong as I like to see, more chilli, fish sauce and sweetness would be preferred.i am not a fan on the crab meat roll, very odd grainy texture like its the dark meat from the main body that's used and i kept thinking it was chicken (though a staff member confirmed that the only meat inside is crab)

FYI
I wouldn't bother with takeaway for the price but do dine in so you can enjoy the space. Parking directly outside and located in the edgewater complex

Great place for a night out dinner with your partner. Food was good & no delays. Atmosphere is great and service was ok, although some of them can’t speak proper English but still ok to order food & drink.
Rodneyweston
Brilliant food, with positive, polite service at a decent price. We greatly enjoyed the Panang curry, Pad See Ew, Satay Chicken skewers, Larb Tod and Gang Chao Huen. An excellent night out. Thank you!
JtotheG
A restaurant with a huge array of dishes from different parts of Thailand. As I was not familiar with the food besides larp and pad thai, I got my friend to order. We were first presented with some complimentary crackers which were a little spicy but so good.
We had some pork belly papaya salad, duck curry, minced chicken and sticky rice, spicy sausages and minced pork with crabmeat in tofu skin.
Everything was delicious. It was a big restaurant and although busy, the staff were very attentive.
I love the decor and the traditional decorations. It is a beautiful place.
Linnie Eats All The Food
Thonglor Thai has been around for ages and is right near edgewater near Highpoint. The carpark at the front is always super busy so your best bet is to park across the road where Aldi is and walk over. They also take reservations and it does get busy so make sure you make a booking and this is a bit fancier than your normal Thai restaurant so it is a touch pricier. The staff are super duper friendly and are very attentive and will serve you with a smile on their faces.
Dinh
Love the ambience, and delicious food . Only downside would be that the menu has a lot and can be confusing for any newcomer but I’m sure the staff the can help you out.
Don Djoe
This place is prettier than average Thai restaurants. That's the first impression that we got the first time we stepped into the place. So kudos to whoever design the interior. As for the food, they were also great. We ordered pad see wee which was one of the better ones out there, beef salad which was refreshing and has decent beef though it was diced too big. We also had tom yum soup which had lots of filling. As for the drink we ordered Thai milk tea which was nice though I prefer it to have less ice. The price tag is not cheap, but hey the food was good, the place was pretty and reasonably comfy, I guess that's all right.
Nicole
very nice service, food is great,i have been there several times, and they all awesome, coconut water is great, fish cake, stir beef, tom yum soup all awesome

Wow.. what a place!!! The environment is fantastic and the staff are so friendly and so efficient. As for the food, where do I start? Every dish is so flavoursome and there is such a depth of flavour that makes you want to go back for more. Real authentic Thai food. We go back several times a year and enjoy ourselves every time. We have recommended Thonglor to friends and family and I highly recommend the place to you. Go there - experience the aromatic Thai flavours- you will love it and won’t be disappointed.
The Food Book
With little to no other thai restaurants around Thonglor Thai is actually a really good option if you ever crave it. I thoroughly enjoyed the duck curry and pad thai but feel like it can be a bit heavy.
Valina Whites
Great ambience and good service. Food was absolutely delicious! We’ll definitely come back to enjoy some good quality food in a nice environment.
Arati Sharma
Thai cuisine is my absolute favourite. So, I had to try Thonglor Thai as it's walking distance from where I live. You must make a reservation here. It's always crowded and you will get a queue almost all the times. We ordered Thai Green Curry and Basil Stir Fry Chicken. Very delicious 👌🏼 Must visit!
Valérie Vuu
Great Thai food in the western suburbs. Service is attentive and portions are decent. However, it is slightly pricey but there isn’t much Thai competition in this area.
The Gastronomist
Best Thai restaurant I have tried in Melbourne. Had a good dining experience here. Quick service and very nice fine dining ambience. Green curry was well balanced and not sweet; Pad Thai was firm and not soggy; deep fried Barramundi hits the spot with the sweet and sour sauce. Thai beer 🍺 selections a bonus. Price was on a high side, but it’s well worth.
Chocolate.Factory
Super friendly staff and fantastic food. We walked in hungry and looking forward to a Thai feast and we waddled out seriously satisfied and deliciously full. Can’t really ask for much more than that!

YOU GUYS STOLE MY HEART!!!
I wasn’t expect that good! My friend recommended me to try this place, as i like thai food and BOOM! Fall in Love at the first try! ❤️ Got a table at the corner (Perfect even i faced the wall), Friendly staff who greet and served us, GOOD FOOODDDD!!!!! Thank you guys!
Thefifth_element
Good service and cool decor. Too expensive for Thai food, but for the price you get big serving sizes and the food is really tasty. We had pad Thai and green curry. Both very good.
Danny Nguyen
Came with a group of 4 on a Friday night. The chicken skewers was tender and delicious. Had the papaya salad with crab, beef curry, the pork belly and pad Thai to finish off. Everything was decent, not great but definitely not bad. The price was reasonable however I felt like the serving sizes were quite small. Customer service was friendly.
Princess Picky
If I ever feel like thai I always order from here! It's always quick, delicious and worth the money. The staff are lovely and the quality is very consistent
Vegetarian Food Lover
We were given complimentary prawn crackers (which I don’t eat but were apparently really good) & chilled water. We ordered pan fried roti with peanut sauce & vegetarian Pad Thai. The pan fried roti was warm but the amount of peanut sauce given was not enough for the amount of roti on the plate. The peanut sauce was ok. The vegetarian Pad Thai was beautifully presented & tasted average. Service was friendly.
Food Monkey
Probably the best Thai restaurant in the west. Amazing decor, lovely ambience and most importantly amazing Thai food.
We ordered lychee cocktails, fish cakes, red duck curry and pad Thai.
Cocktail was nice, fish cake was good and pad Thai was delicious but the hero of our menu was duck curry. It’s probably the best I ever had. Highly infused with lychee, pineapple and grape the curry sauce was stunning. The duck itself was very succulent and melted in the mouth, along with beautiful presentation. Easily an unbeatable taste.
Would go back any day...
Nalia
We were in the mood for Thai and chose this local restaurant due to its high rating. When we arrived, the reasonably large dining space was almost completely full, always a good sign, but we were lucky there were a couple of vacant tables and we were seated promptly. We ordered the pad thai and pad mhee, admittedly very similar dishes although the latter is a little sweeter. The pad thai is my staple dish and having tried many worldwide, this is definitely one of the better ones I've had for a long time. I usually like my bean shoots cooked rather than raw on the plate, but the rice noodles were hot enough that they cooked the bean shoots perfectly when mixed together, and the sauce/marinade in the dish was lovely. A wonderful find in the West, and I will definitely be taking family and friends back here!

Addendum: have been back here a few more times and the food is consistently good. One of the favourite Thai restaurants in Melbourne. Have ordered fishcakes (tasty), sai-ua or spicy pork sausage (tasty), green vegetable curry (nice), red duck curry (delicious), pad-see ew (delicious), and tamarind barramundi (huge and yummy although wouldn't mind more sauce). All the dishes have been great.

Thai has never been a bad decision for ANY occassion so for our first date back since our trip to Japan, we decided to visit the well received Thonglor Thai Restaurant. Located in the heart of wonderful dining options, we were surprised to see how beautiful and busy the area was and inside the restaurant was no different. With tables bustling and an ambience of happiness and glee, we were welcomed and seated immediately neither enthusiasm.

The first thing you will notice is the ambience. The decor, paintings, wallpaper and even table layout is definitely better than most Thai establishments, offering a very authentic and cultural experience. Today we opted for the peanut sauce with chicken, Pad Thai and of course coconut rice. The sauce on the chicken was the best we have had at any restaurant that serves peanut sauce. Complimenting the very rich albeit fresh and tender chicken, this made it an instant gratuitous meal. The Pad Thai was also very good, resembling Vietnamese rice noodles with a Thai twist which was surprisingly good nonetheless. The coconut rice was nice, however did not have the entire full flavour like our favourite Caroline Thai.

An overall pleasant meal and definitely better than most meals. Above average food, service, value and ambience, make for this restaurant as a very good option for anyone!

Food: 4/5
Ambience: 4/5
Service: 3.5/5
Value: 4/5

Overall: 4/5
The Casual Diner
Felt like some Thai food one evening, so we popped by this place that had a pretty decent rating to give it a go. The place was well decorated and the wait staff welcoming. We ordered the topioca dumplings (these were small topioca balls filled with pork and spiced that were surprisingly moorish), a seafood tomyum (which had a generous selection of well cooked seafood), a spicy basil beef (lvl 6 spice - it goes all the way up to 10, my Asian palette thinks that this is just about right, and I eat pretty spicy food), grilled pork neck (smoky and tender) and a Thai white tea and Mai Thai to wash it all down. The food was generally good, great flavours, generous portions and good level of spice. Cost was above average, but for this part of town, this must be one of the best Thai restaurant around. It has a very large menu, so I will most definitely return to try some of the other dishes.
Danielle Nguyen
One of my favourite Thai restaurants in Melbourne. I loved the decor and it felt very traditional. The waiter was super attentive and friendly. Food was great and my favourite would have to be the green curry. Will be back again 👌
Josie Wood
Lovely service by our waiter. The food arrived so quickly! And tasted sooo delicious. The staff also cleaned up the dishes in respectable time and manner😍😍
FOOD TRIP
Thonglor Thai is a beautiful restaurant in Maribyrong serving up an extensive menu of Thai Cuisine. The menu is separated into dishes based on the location where they originated from, which is both interesting and confusing. Dishes are decent, although they are on the pricy end and options seem to be endless.
Lee
A very warm atmosphere complemented with polite staff, Thonglor was a nice experience. Dine-in food here tastes much better than their already amazing take-away.
• Red duck curry: Flavoursome with thick, juicy duck meat and surprisingly complementary lychee and grapes in the curry

• Green papaya salad: At only level 2 spice, the chilliness was a bit overpowering but enjoyable nonetheless. Tasted very fresh. (Tried level 6 once, felt like I was dying but still.. so.. good!!)

• Grilled seafood dish (forgot the name): The sauce and 'grilled' aroma made the dish simply delectable. We devoured this in a few minutes!!

• Fried rice: Loved the different flavours, the egg tasted really nice. Prawn was delicious and easy to eat.

• Tapioca dumplings: A surprise!! A very sticky shell with a savoury filling, it was an interesting entree.

• Fried banana fritter w/ vanilla ice cream: Thought it was going to be a simple dish, but the presentation and taste was spectacular! A few pieces of strawberries and jackfruit made it a lot more enjoyable, as well as the banana wrapped in a spring roll shell.

Really enjoyed my dinner here, definitely would come back!
Secret Taster
We've been here a few times. I've always enjoyed their food. I should really go more often.

There is a lot on their menu - showcasing different areas in Thailand. I usually get bored reading through it - so many pages.. and just leave it to who ever I'm dining with to pick the dishes.

For all the dishes we tried, all were tasty, good flavours.

The decor is, for me, a bit on the exaggerated side. There is a lot of decorations.

Staff: Not that they are deliberately ignoring us or are just standing around doing nothing, but when it gets busy, it's a bit of a struggle to get their attention. Maybe under staffed for peak periods.
But that doesn't really bother us too much as we never go there planning a quick meal. When we go, it's for good food with lots of chit chat happening.

We had take away. It was edible. Just.
Pad Thai was dry and tofu was over cooked. Curry was ok, not a lot of meat. Probably won’t try again.

Thonglor Thai is located at Edgewater estate just across the road from Aldi. It Is such a beautiful and intimate restaurant, perfect for a quiet dinner or the special occasion . I was mesmerised by the grandeur of the Thai decoration from the minute I walked into the restaurant. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The menu is quite extensive but can be a bit too wordy and confusing the way it was presented and a tad pricey. We ordered the duck red curry, beef pad Thai, coconut rice and mocktail to share. The food didn't take long to arrive and served in a beautiful crockery. The duck curry is quite light and creamy but could use a bit more spice. Pad Thai is tasty but the beef was quite tough. Overall, it was a good experience and we will return .

I've eaten here a few times for friends birthdays and it's always been quite mediocre. The last time I ate here, we had the red thai curry. It lacked complexity in flavour and fell flat against other red thai curries I've had.

Delicious !! A really popular Thai venue in the west of town. The red curry and and the spring rolls are delicious and the pricing present great value

What a beautiful execution of a Thai restaurant in Melbourne's west! From the uniforms of the wait staff to the decoration of the tables, everything screams Thailand. The menu is packed full of your usual favourites from the Thai cuisine and my mouth started watering by just looking at it for a second. After having been here a couple of times, my favourites would be the green curry, the pad Thai as well as the fabulous tom yum soup. All rounded up by super friendly and professional service. Only negative is the pricing which is quite high considering the location of the restaurant. But definitely coming back. Seb

We ordered take away on this occasion; price is reasonable for takeaway but expect it to be at least 60% steeper for dine in. The staff that took our order over the phone was lovely and attentive. The same staff also gave us the food and took the payment when we went in to pick up. The restaurant had a nice relaxing vibe with dim lighting and Thai decorations. For food, the prawn pad thai had a slightly sweet taste and noodles were firm and wasn't dry. Chicken green curry was tasty with a slight spicy kick and creamy taste. Overall food was good for takeaway, just not quite there yet to be exceptional.

Love the detailed decor, great food and quick and friendly service. The duck curry is my favourite and you have to try the cocktails! Always busy but always a nice atmosphere.

Restaurant is verryy busy, looks incredibly authentic and welcoming. The waiters and waitresses are very accommodating and respectful, they work with such enthusiasm. Got the green vegetable curry and vegetarian pad med ma muang. Everything was just jam packed with flavour and well balanced. The green curry just needed a bit more heat to it. Amazing Thai restaurant

The interior décor of Thonglor Thai is so beautiful and detailed. The pricing is very reasonable and the food served is delicious with notable care in the presentation.

Service is good, food is pretty good. Not bad for the west side. Shame it's not as busy but nice authentic vibes. Wish the Tom yum was a bit spicier as I did ask for hot, but I guess they cater to the wider public who may not handle Thai chillies very well. Overall a good experience.

Very authentic Thai food, every time my family visit from interstate their ask is to always come back here, their prices are a little high but worth it. Amazing, fresh food

I've been twice. Once with a big group of people on a busy night (service was pretty prompt). Second time there was two of us and the place was quiet. We waited almost half an hour just to get a menu (we were about to leave when they gave us one) and it took a while to get water for the table. Food wasn't too bad, actually pretty nice. But the service kind of ruined it for us

One of the Best Chicken/Seafood Pad Thai I've had! Slightly on the pricey side but it is well-portioned and well-presented with generous amount of scallops and prawns.
