Review Cafe Boutique - Maribyrnong

Andre Medina
been here several times and it's always great, very local and always nice service. food is good, prices are good, serving sizes are good. would recommend this Cafe if you're in the area. also has a lovely view. good stop off on a walk around the river.
Nino
Great location along the Maribyrnong River. Food could have been better as the toast was partially burnt.

Love the glavours here, always a winner for breakfast. Lovely staff also, and great coffe to boot.

What a joy to find this place. Quick service and delicious food. Was able to swap out regular bread for gluten free. Happy to always come back to this locally owned business! Can't wait for happy hour to come back.

Come here infrequently and enjoy being outside if the weather is kind. Nice and relaxing on the river. Menu has changed since new owners took over. Had a decent lunch today. Generally good service and friendly staff. Not a fan of the furnishings/decor but the food is good.
Foodie Destination
Great view, great staff no complaints there. Parking was quite hard to get since there is alot of housings and apartments nearby so parking is almost never available, expect a shortwalk to get to the restaurant. The food was just average, I ordered the crushed avocado with poached eggs and my friend got the eggs on toast ~poached. Avocado was bland, toast was soggy and salad was over dressed. Poached Eggs in both dishes were over cooked and not nicely presented, not much care at all.

Very nice and quiet location. Parking quite limited around the area. Ordered the green eggs with bacon and sourdough bread plus a large cappuccino. Delicious.

Great Cafe in a superb location overlooking the river. Has a nice outdoor area. You can bring your furry friends. Inside the decor is stylish and modern with a little bar. Sundays have tapas and live music and oh the coffee is perfect 👌

Bad customer service ,expensive, bad quality

A cafe with an amazing lakeside view, customers are super friendly and so nice! Brunch options are amazing and portion sizes are so worth what youre paying for. Coffees are so enjoyable! They have special menus that change nearly every week would highly recommend!

Cafe boutique is a place with beautiful view of Edgewater lake on maribyrong river and decent food. I wonder why it has low rating. I was here with my friend’s and family. We all enjoyed our food. I had mixed berry pancakes with ice cream, but then it would have been better if it was whipped cream for pancakes. My husband had big boutique breakfast which totally enjoyed. It was windy so we stayed inside. Service was prompt but then I did not see a smile / greet from any staff.

• Cafe • Boutique • If you’re in the western suburbs and haven’t given this hidden place a visit, it’s time you get off your a** and come here. With views of the Edgewater lake, you’ll be mesmerised of one the two things, the view or the food... Everything is always so fresh, and the price is cheaper then average but leaves you so full, you’ll need to undo one button from your jeans. #foodporn #foodblogger #breakfast #edgewater #bacon #poachedeggs

Came here for brunch on a Sunday and was pleasantly surprised. Good food, good coffee, good portion sizes, fast & friendly service. We will be back!!!!!

What a great cafe, I have been a customer here half a dozen times over the last 3 months.. Vince and his staff never fail to impress me with friendly open attitude fabulous food and great serve... i highly recommend this cafe to anyone looking a great meal or coffee.. 10 / 10 😃😃

went with five friends for a coffee last week. Service was slow and a joke, coffee came out one cup at a time - I kid you not. Wont be back unless its with a camera crew for a comedy sketch

Service from owners is exceptional and the smashed avocado is to die for. Meals are all reasonably priced. Great coffee, and nice mugs to drink from.
Great outlook over the marina.

Cafe boutique is a beautiful cafe located next to Maribyrnong river.. picturesque and peaceful. The owners ( Vince and wife) of the cafe are very friendly and hospitable. The interior design of the cafe is very modern and inviting. It also had a lot of outdoor seating with river view but it was a cold so we chose to sit inside. The menu was quite standard and we ordered the corn fritters and almond croissant with coffee. The coffee and food was average but I would return for the service and view. The cafe was relatively quiet on Saturday morning but started to get busy by the time we left.

I wanted to try this place despite the negative reviews because I wanted to come for the nice view. I wasn't expecting much so I had an open mind with small expectations but I was pleasantly surprised!! The customer service was great, the staff was very nice so I was happy with that! I had no issue with my food either, it came at a decent time, I wasn't waiting long for anything at all! And I recommend coming on a nice sunny day and getting a table outside overlooking the water it just makes it so much better :) But yeah, I would ignore the bad reviews and just try for yourself. It was quite busy today also but we were promptly served so I really had no complaints, think this a nice spot and will come back and try some more things out

Most expensive coffee in Melbourne!!! 50 cents surcharge for eftpos transaction under $10, i can understand, add 50 cents for Soy which I can also understand but charging an extra 50cents for a squeeze of honey is beyond a joke. Had to revert to a Small size to keep under the EFTPOS surcharge - walked away paying $5 for a small coffee with very rude customer service. Won't be back...

Mmmmm....
Was a regular coffee haunt being a short stroll from home and also breakfast/lunch on occasion. We always had a pleasant experience, good coffee and good food. Never had a problem with the service but yes agree with other posts when they were busy the service was a little slow. Nothing to complain about.
New owners recently took over and I had brunch with a few girlfriends today.
Mmmm...
Coffee was good. Food was average. I had the green eggs and ham. The bacon was oily, far too much butter on the toast, eggs were fluffy but the feta was minuscule. Slightly overlooked asparagus.
My friend had the Belgium waffles that looked huge when it came out. The review was positive, not heavy or sickly sweet.
I'd give this cafe another go given my past experiences have been positive.
Btw a previous reviewer commented the prices are high but I disagree. Reasonably priced, there are more expensive cafes around that dish up worse meals. If the standard returns to what it was (and I'm hoping today was an off day), then Cafe Boutique is a very good local place.

Been here a couple of times because it's in a convenient location for me. First time was with the old owners and service was bad. Went back on the weekend having heard of new owners and hoping they had improved the standard of service - but nope. still slow, terrible AND rude! No apologies for delays, no offer of water, no asking of coffee or drinks upon sitting, nothing! Food is ok, coffee isn't great. But wouldn't be back for service alone.

Scammed me and my friends who are 15 year old kids. I asked this waiter if the $14 nachos could feed us 3 and he said ok and went to the kitchen. He brought out the order and we ate it . Went we went to the cashier he said it cost $22 not $14 because he added it for us. We didn't ask him to add more we simply asked him a question if it could feed us 3 . yes or no answer would've been good enough. He scammed us . Rude service , although it is alright food the poor service makes it hard to eat.
Chris
Well priced and a good selection of food. Lovely spot by the river.. Leaves the Boathouse (upstream) for dead on variety, quality and price... All day brekky too... Coffee ok - could be stronger.
Luiz Fellipe Lopes
The owners must think: view is great, food and coffee is reasonable ok, what else would people want ?

Well... be treated like people, maybe?

If you go to any 7eleven to buy a 1 dollar coffee from the machine you're going to have a similar coffee and a much better service. It's just crazy how indifferent staff here can be.
Allyce Wonderland
Very rude customer service. The food is not good and it's expensive. Wouldn't recomend this place to anybody. I'll never go back there. There are much better restaurants in the area.
Pushpa K
This place is my lazy go to.. for breakfast... the coffee to.start with is just perfect every time.. and from basic toast to fancy brekky they do everything perfect.. service needs special applause..
Anya
I really like this place for the food quality & modern eastern European vibe. It's conveniently located with a good view onto the river. The avocado on toast was massive & chai latte was perfect.
Daryl
We were there on a recent Sunday afternoon, the food was ok but a bit pricey based on what we got. They had a band playing, they were way too loud, and we could not hear ourselves when speaking to each other...if anything the band was annoying for us. I would have preferred to just enjoy the decking, look at the water and enjoy good conversation with my lady, rather than listen to a two bit band.
Daniel
Paid $4.50 for a green tea latte that tastes like hot milk with sugar. Soy latte was gross. Not the best customer service. Never again. Go elsewhere!
Lippyloo
Nice coffee but was delivered with such incredibly
unfriendly disinterest by the owner.
She also displayed obvious irritation when presented with a $50 note as she didn't have change....
Will go elsewhere in future.
Chris Medina
The nutella doughnut was disappointing.... though it looks appetizing.
My friend had Belgian waffle and it was really nice I wish I got that instead of chips, nutella doughnut and hot chocolate.
Claire
It's hit & miss with coffee here. You can get a nice one however 4/5 are almost undrinkable. This mornings was so hot I had to have an extra cup just to hold it. I keep going back as it's in the perfect location for my dog walks. From now on I'll just wait until later in the morning and get my coffee else where. The staff could be friendlier and the place less cluttered too. I can't comment on the food as never eaten here.

Cafe Boutique is a cafe specialising in coffee in Edgewater Boulevard Maribynong. It is right near the park and it is hidden from the main road. But there is a lovely view though."Recently not many people liked it, but did we agree with the reviews?," as they say on Dancing with the Stars (US version). Not exactly. Some things we did agree with. For example we had the salmon with eggs ($18) which came with one piece of dry brioche toast (or should I say bread if that is the case), too much salad, salmon, sorrel and two poached eggs. The poached eggs were good but cold. The salad was a bit too much and I loved the cheese and sorrel. It gave it that nice acidic taste to the dish.

Went here for my cousins birthday party and from the reviews I thought I was going to have a bad time. Food was great, waitresses were nice and food came quickly. Food tasted nice.
Foodie McFoodie
Talk about a hit and miss Cafè. I've been here 3 or 4 times for coffee and once for food. Coffee is ok, food is meh. I agree with reviews on the customer service unfortunately. Staff should take a look at the deli next door and see how nice it is to see a smiling face.

Having recently moved to footscray, I managed to find myself at Cafe Boutique on a Sunday afternoon. Very interesting food, and great atmosphere. Thank You Cafe Boutique
David Ramsey
Great place to eat. Very healthy juices and meals. I would highly recommend this place for any healthy eater.

Service was good, and I was very happy with the speedy delivery of my food. Thank You, I will be back.

Worst run cafe I have been to in a very long time. Lack of service. Bitter coffee.

Customers have walked in and have not been greeted, staff have walked past a number of times and haven't even smiled, said hello or any acknowledgment to there customers. To busy talking amongst one another.

Really poor customer service.

You's shouldn't even be running a cafe because you clearly don't know how to treat people.

Will not be back. The only good thing was the aioli sauce.

Michal
Great food, great service, and great views. I love coming down to this cafe during the week to grab a sneaky doughnut with a coffee. I come here on Sundays to experience the live music, people and great pancakes.

This place has a lot of great Polish food and cakes which are amazing. Thank you and I will see you in a couple of days for my weekly coffee and doughnut.

I downloaded this app to make this review. that pretty much sums up this cafe. the only reason why they even still have customers going in is because they have a great view. staff were rude as hell. took 15mins to take my order. another 45mins for the food to come out. the foods not even worth the money or the wait. after the meal when we went to pay we even got into an argument with one of the ladies there because she wasn't happy with us that we weren't happy with the service! I'm not one to complain nor do I like confrontation but I had enough of this place and just gave it back to them. I will never go back to this place unless it's to celebrate it shutting down. horrible place, horrible people, horrible food, horrible service.
Gotham
I'm disappointed I may not award a zero rating. This establishment takes the prize for the worst service I had ever experienced eating around Melbourne. The cafe was well under half full. Three requests for menus and our orders to be taken acknowledged and then ignored. After twenty minutes with no service, I placed drink and food orders (one meal - glorified eggs on toast) directly with the barista. Twenty minutes later - two coffees. Over forty minutes following this order placement (ie over an hour after being seated) - no food in sight. With no response after expressing our disappointment, they took our money for their coffee and we walked out. And shall certainly never walk back in. If you can't deliver a pair of poached eggs in under an hour in a half empty cafe then you should be seriously questioning your systems and your staff.
Jack Spratt
Is this place really as bad as the reviews below.?? Afraid so. You are given the impression that (some) of the service staff really just don't care if you come back or not. I've no idea how many chefs come and go at this place but its a lot. Having met both of the owners, you are both lovely people but its time to listen to some of these reviews and come to terms with the fact that this is simply NOT a good cafe. 1/5 simply for the view period.

In one word awful. I went here on a Sunday afternoon when I was bike riding with friends. We stopped here for some lunch there was a festival going on at the time so there was a small crowd about. We decided to sit outside to enjoy the views and the sun. We ordered and then the wait began it took 1 hour to get our food. The staff were rude and did not pay attention to customers.
At the same time a large group of people were coming to lunch and it seems that ALL of the staff were needed to set up these tables and thus neglecting the rest of the customers. When the food did come 1 hour later 2 meals arrived and I had to go in again to ask for the third.
When I complained to the staff at the till I was told that I have to understand that there was a festival happening and that I ordered from the menu. I did not understand as this is what normally happens?! But I was told that they really shouldn't have had their normal menu on for such a busy day. I was so shocked no apology at all!!! If they knew they were going to be such a delay then they should at least tell the customers so that they know. o be honest when I went to pay there were people at a couple of table it wasn't full. It seems that they can't handle customers and as I said ALL the staff were taking up setting up for a group.
It was so disappointing the food was ok but the service and the attitude of the staff was awful. I would not recommend this to anyone. Such a shame because it is in such a nice setting.
Angelo Di Lorenzo
Why be in the service and hospitality industry when you can't be bothered offering service or hospitality? This would be one of the worst cafe experiences we have ever had. Not only did we have to wait too long to be approached to order but the servers came to our table with no menus. Finally when we did try to order at the counter we were told that they were not serving food as they had a function. What, an open cafe with coolers of prepared foods and "we're not serving food". ? The final straw was when one of the servers push our friends daughter aside to get through.
I will never visit this cafe again and would never recommend them to my friends.
KK
Have tried this cafe twice only to be let down twice ! The first time we had to wait 15Mins at the front counter just to be greeted because making one coffee means you can't say hello to then be told half of the food and drinks menu was unavailable because they didn't have stock.
Second time around I felt like a juice to take on my walk around the river, once again I was not greeted and once I was the lady was just rude. I ordered my juice only to watch her fill the entire cup with ice and top with juice and then charged me around $7! I could buy a 1litre cold press juice from the supermarket cheaper.

I would love to come back if attitudes were changed, prices adjusted and maybe the menus need to be smaller!

Beautiful outdoor area and view Shane about the service !
Foodie
Bad bad bad service! Good is WAY over priced and not great quality. Could've made it myself at home better. Food didn't even come for my friend... So just cancelled it. Won't be going back. 2 stars for a nice view of the lake.

Been here couple of times. Thought giving them a chance. Never coming back. Service is very abrupt. I think the owner is a family business and live upstairs on the apartment. Sad. Lots of potential but showing that they may have too much money and bought cafe business and can serve the local living nearby. Time to change guys.
Linnie Tran
Food took over an hour! Really slow service! Wasn't even given a menu until asked. Coffee was good and come straight away. The place is only good for coffee.
Vy Nguyen
Friendly staff, great view from the cafe. The almond croissant was delicious, especially when warmed up and toasted. Good portion to share for two, if not, one person!
LUIGIA CALVISI
Brunch. Have been twice for brunch. Food was amazing and so economical. I had eggs florentine with a serving of bacon both times. It was delicious and presented well. Although service can be a bit slow, the view and the atmosphere are possibly something to be savoured rather than rushed. Will go back again .... and again
Richard Ulkowski
I've become a regular here after moving to the Edgewater village. The food is always fresh and very tasty. They make a real effort in sourcing local where they can and the presentation is never lacking. Service is friendly and efficient without being over the top...you're made to feel like you're at home...

If you want good quality, big portions and a hearty meal with lovely presentation then this is your place!

They also do the best cakes and coffee!
Anusharma_2009
One of the best cafe in Melbourne. I think the cafe boutique is the best place to spend your precious time with your family or friends . Best service , excellent food and very nice atmosphere along the river... I will recommend everyone should go there once and try yummy food and magnificent service... Enjoy

Not sure how it's possible to get it so wrong.. Awful, slow, pedestrian service. Had to flag down a waitress firstly to order our coffees, which were terrible, then flag the same one down again to order. Despite the restaurant not being full whatsoever, and I'm not surprised even though it was a Saturday morning, we waited over 40 minutes for our meals. Can't be that hard to poach eggs. Couldn't be bothered waiting any longer, left and will never return. If you're after weak, sub-standard coffee, no service and have at least an hour to spare waiting for your food, this is your place.

Perfect place for pure Vegans and Vegetarians.... Cafe boutique is one of the best place where vegetarian food have a lot of variety. I am a vegan and I found delicious food which was chef's special. Service was very good. Friendly, relaxing environment on the waterfronts.
Full points to Cafe Boutique in my recomendations.

We live around the corner and stopped in to get icecreams for our boys, quite some time ago, only to be ignored at the counter for about 15 minutes. To the point where the stupid dark haired waiter, who'd pushed past us numerous times without looking at us or acknowledging us; actually closed the shutters on the window to the kitchen so we couldn't see her.. Don't have an ice-cream counter ( if it's still there) if you don't want to sell icecreams. I've never been treated so rudely and for no reason whatsoever. This was a while ago and l have never gotten over it.. I tell EVERYONE what l think of this place...

The tall handsome blondie man makes an amazing latte!

Located near Edgewater Lake, Cafe Boutique is my never fail - 'go to' place! Whether I'm grabbing a coffee with the girls, brunch with my boy or dinner with the folks, cafe boutique always provides great friendly service, amazing food and a wonderful relaxed environment!
Perfect for any occasion! - highly recommended :)

Horrible Service!!. I live in the apartment next door and always loved cafe Boituque, except for my last visit. I went there with my sister who was visiting from overseas, but the waitress (the tall lady with the long dark hair at the counter) was extremely rude. We asked to sit outside and she didnt even bother to come take the order and was busy chatting with someone else. 10 mins later I walked into the restraunt and asked if anyone was coming out to take the order. And then I ordered for Eggs florentine and my sister got the belgian Waffles. The food was delicious as always, except when it was time to pay the bill she charges me for another item ( prob - eggs bennedict) which was $2 dearer than the florentine. Upon telling her that that's not what I ordered, she said - Oh! its the same price, So after making a payment I double checked and she clearly over charged me. I was gonna walk off, but I thought why should I and when I showed her the menu, and that she has charged me wrongly - she says - Oh well!! we've always been charging everyone the same price and hands me a dollar back like she's giving me her money. I walked out so disappointed, especially cos I absolutely love the place. Not sure if I will be going back!!!

Nice place to relax and eat good food. I really like the salmon tortilla and I highly recommend the dumplings and home made cakes for takaway. Its one of my main places to relax and injoy the view during my free time.

Mandy Podobas. I am india and I really like food at boutique cafe beautiful food and very good service everyone must go.

Boutique Cafe is a Impressive hidden gem at edge water estate near high point. The Boutique cafe ticked all the right boxes the best eggs bendict was perfect , the best service , the best views, our waitress served us and made the best coffee and fresh apple juice in a flash and asked if we wanted to try any polish cakes that just came in from there bakery. The cafe was full and we got excellent service. We took a slice of beautiful pistachio and Creme brûlée cheesecake home yum! The views are amazing I will definitely be back with friends.............there's a fresh polish deli next door a foodies heaven :)

DOESN'T LIKE IT
This would have to be the most unorganized place I have ever been to!!!!!!1
EL
I can't believe a place with a view this wonderful has such terrible service and food. Went with a group of friends to catch some sun and coffees and thought that this would be a lovely place. But hey we make mistakes. Such terrible service who I assume from the owner herself? We never got greeted upon arrival and waited so long for tr staff to take our order. Which she got wrong anyway. The coffees were too sweet and we hadn't even put sugar into it yet! And how can anyone ruin a vanilla milkshake? We left without touching any of our drinks. I cannot fathom how terrible the service and coffee was here. Do yourself a favour and don't even visit. Will not come back

Lovely cafe on the waterfront at Edgewater. Beautiful cafe, lunch and location . Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves yesterday. The service was great and the food delicious. My chicken salad was great as were all the meals served at the table. Thanks Cafe Boutique- will be back for sure :)
Kylieanderson65
Cafe. Very fresh tasty home made food. great variety of drinks & the best hot chocolates in town!
Samyung
Take the hint. Seriously guys. Running this cafe clearly isn't your thing. The food presents differently every time. The coffee is clearly done by someone with limited training or has no idea of how coffee should taste. The only constant is the rude and grumpy staff (primarily the tall woman on the till). I dare anyone to ask how many staff they go through a month. I would seriously be taking heed at these reviews and act on them. oh yea and asking friends and family to post positive reviews on here for you isn't helping. Stick with the bakery.
Chocolate.Factory
Interesting cafe to say the least....great location overlooking the Maribyrnong river. Three page menu covering the usual breakfast/lunch fare, with the unusual addition of some Polish cuisine. They have a wide range of savoury & sweet items at the front counter & not everything looks fresh..... Our meals were reasonably ok, but nothing special. Our son was blown away by the ham bagel, but he's 9 & eats everything & anything.....any cafe would be rapt to have him as a critic.... Service was pleasant and quite slow.....but if you have nothing but idle time on a lazy Sunday arvo, does it matter? Sitting there in the perfect weather today was a lovely distraction from the average food.
Una
You have to wonder why people get into the hospitality industry when they can't even crack a smile for their customers, let alone be pleasant. This cafe is in a lovely location but the is ordinary, the coffee horrible and the main waitress is downright rude. Simply asking for cutlery generates a look that would wither a rose. Such a disappointment that this place just doesn't give a toss about customer service. And you think they would know how to make a decent coffee by now!
Angelique_zakkas
Expired/mouldy products. I recently bought a take-away coffee and a muffin from here. When I reached my destination and opened the bag, the muffin was FULL OF MOULD!!! I was shocked and disgusted. Also, a few months earlier when we moved to the neighbourhood I popped in to buy some milk from the deli next door (same owners) and this imported mustard caught my eye so I bought that too. When i went to use it a few days later I noticed the expiry date was 10 months ago!!!
Jisda_1
Great location on river. Had a chicken tortilla which was tasty and filling. I went on a day when the weather was perfect so I sat outside and it was lovely. Great view and nice and quiet. But what I noted which made me feel slightly awkward was that upon arrival to the cafe, staff were having an argument amongst themselves. Because of this, it took a while for me to be greeted and given a menu, awkward..
Mmmmm
Such a good location, shame that the service isn't. There was only 1 person working which I think was the owner and isn't good enough. Went at about 2:30 so it wasn't even busy but even so, she had to make coffees and drinks so there was no body to serve us or the other customers who had walked in. No greeting on arrival, had to go up to the counter ourselves to get the menu. Felt rushed to order because she was probably busy doing other stuff. Wait on food was long. Food was okay. Never checked up on us after food was delivered. Such a beautiful location, should really have more workers working.
Attention To Detail...
So sad...such a wonderful location...yet bad bad bad. No greeting upon arrival. Had to ask for menu. Eggs benedict arrived & was nice. Staff then proceeded to have a domestic as to who was the boss. My empty plate sat for a good 25 minutes whilst I read the paper waiting to be asked if I would like a coffee. Though there was no way I was going to as the milk sat on the bench for the whole time I was there, approximately an hour, with one coffee being made for a said well known western suburbs youth social worker. Hence no coffee for me. Upon paying I was charged for food & also 2 coffees I never ordered...so disappointing. As is the decor of the place...so cluttered & felt I had stepped back into a 90's home

Great service, tasty and perfectly cooked breakfast. Nice outdoor dining area. Will definitely be back!

On Father's Day me and my family went for a breakfast brunch at cafe boutique. It was a very pleasant experience, the food tasted great and the service was outstanding. Definitely would be seen going back there.

Great coffee!. We have been to this great little cafe a few times. It offers wonderful ambience with that fantastic water view. The food and service was fantastic, and we loved the coffee. We will definitely be back.

Don't waste your time, money or energy at this place. Staff rudeness is intolerable. I don't know how such a business hasn't gone broke when every time we go there, everything about service and quality is well below standard.
Genevieve
The staff are the loveliest people. They, along with the beautiful view and food, keep us going back. Always a lovely experience.

Best Restaurant I've Been To In Months. I go to cafe boutique about 2 times a week it is a lovely restaurant my favourite employer is the tall lady with long black hair even though she might get abit under pressure sometimes from being on her own their but she is a very nice lady ive got to know her she is very nice she really knows how to talk and take care of her customers it is in a nice area i have been going their a very long time and im going to continue going their especially to be served by such a lovely person, people who are to inpatient at restaurants should maybe think twice about going out,and some people shouldn't really pin point the person whos serving you.instead of you people writing such a nasty review about another person how about you get a life maybe it is not the staff who is rude maybe it is you people who are impatient and cant understand that staff are always underpressure and cafe boutique is a place where u can go and relax and have a wonderful breakfast lunch or dinner its people like use that make nice cafes like cafe boutique look bad with your reviews when clearly your just rude and impatient and because theirs abit of a wait where ever you go your going to end up waiting so if you dont have anything good to say keep it to yourselves because cafe boutique is absolutely amazing 5 star :)
Serena
We have been to Boutique twice now as we live locally but my partner and I have sworn to never, ever go back!! Each time we have gone it takes forever for a staff member to approach us, instead they stand around and chat. The tall woman with black hair (who I presume is the owner) is outrageously rude and only smiles once the bill is being paid! The last time my partner and I went, we were left waiting 20 minutes for our coffees and when we went inside to ask (as the staff wouldn't come outside) the owner snapped at my partner "It's coming, I'm still making it!"... Last time I checked it doesn't take 20 minutes to make a coffee when there are only 3 customers in the entire establishment! The croissant I had WAS MOULDY - when the owner was made aware she took it back and started complaining to the chef. The croissant came back, just a little more toasted. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place at all costs!! The views are great but not worth the stale food and rude staff!

We live locally and give this place a try every couple of months. It has consistently improved over the past year - while the service is still hit and miss, the food is consistently good. Worth another try if you've been before and were underwhelmed.

Best breakfast in town. Have only come down for breakfast and the meals have been fantastic. Bacon was proper bacon (check out their deli where bacon is sold) not packet rubbish from supermarket. Eggs, mushrooms were beautiful. Coffee was great. Apple juice was great. Would definitely come again. PS have been down just for a beer at sunset as well.....great spot to do this. Thoroughly recommend this place.

Excellent food, friendly staff, water views. A little hard to find but now I know where the cafe is I will definitely make it my stop on the way to the airport. The staff are friendly, food fresh and very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend this cafe and then a walk along the waters edge.

Not recommended. Misleading advertisement! I purchased 2 'Living Socials' deals for 4 people. The deals stated that it will include a bruschetta, a main meal of your choice and a glass of wine each for each of the couple, but when I get there, I have been told that I can only have a main meal and the rest has to be paid and I have to end up paying a lot of extras. The owner presented an unfriendly attitude from her tone of voice, directed us to sit at a designated table and threw the cutleries in a heavy way in front of us.
Never go back there again!
Always confirm what you actually get from buying these deals before you decide to buy!

Consistently bad service. Breakfast is just awful, poached eggs that come out with a tiny bit of white and a whole lot of water all over your toast. Lunch is better. Staff need training and assistance. Such a shame as it is a stunning spot and as a local, we would visit far more if the service and standard/presentation of food were up to par.

My sister and I had lunch here on a living social deal. Very nice environment, the view was amazing. The food was so delish and well worth the price, we had beef quesadillas, very tasty and filling. Will def return and the prices were within an average range ( beef quesadilla was $13, very delicate sized if not over) I struggled to finish mine...

The worst service and treatment l have ever experienced. I live in Edgewater and have been pretty excited that we are finally seeing some businesses opening up in walking distance. I believe in supporting local businesses and would very much liked for the Cafe Boutique to become our local cafe we would regularly visit. On Sunday, my sister and l made a stop at Cafe Boutique to grab some take away gelati for the kids. First off - we were standing at the open door collecting ourselves before entering when the waitress walked over, kicked the doorstop away and shut the door in our face. I thought it was rude, but we discussed and decided that she shut it only because the weather was mild (who would think a watiress would shut a door in your face intentionally?) We then entered the premises and stood at the ice-cream counter. There was a young girl making coffee and an older woman collecting an order at a table. The cafe was in no way full or busy. The older waitress headed in our direction but went straight past us into a back room without acknowledging us. After a minute or so, she pulled down a blind that was on a servery window to prevent us from seeing her in the back room. After another minute - the coffee girl called the older waitress, presumably to serve us, but she was ignored or unheard. After another couple of minutes the coffee girl physically stuck her head into the back room, we assumed to ask the older waitress to serve us. The older waitress came to the door, looked at us and went back into the back room. She then came out after another couple of minutes, walke past, completely ignored us and went over to a table on the other side of the cafe. At this point, we told that coffee girl that we were no longer interested in waiting and to tell the older lady that she was incredibly rude. How hard is it to make eye contact and tell us she will get to us in a minute? Acknowledge we were even there? We had waited over five minutes without anyone saying hello or apologising for keeping us waiting. We then went to the deli next door to try and buy some ice-creams there (by this stage, our children aged 2 and up were extremely upset) and the older waitress followed us in there (whether she knew we were there or not, l'm not sure). At this point she started saying "what's wrong? What's happened?" When we stated our case she keep saying she was serving someone else and rolling her eyes and saying "oh my god!" She also kept touching me and making me feel extremely uncomfortable. She never apologised for keeping us waiting or acknowledged that we'd been there for a unacceptable amount of time. In the end, she rolled her eyes and walked behind the deli counter - which resulted in us refusing to give that business our patronage either. Luckily there is a Crepe place nearby with an ice cream counter. It was refreshing to walk into a business, that had just as many customers as Cafe Boutique; but have the empoyees make eye contact and say hello. It's not hard and we are not expecting the world - just some common decency. As for Cafe Boutique's food; who knows... l will never know. I will never, ever, ever go back there - and l'll be sure that everyone l know in the area knows what sort of service to expect there. The fact that the door was shut in our face should have been enough of a signal (perhaps she meant it that way) but we really hadn't been there more then 10 seconds - how could we have caused a reaction like that? Perhaps the issue was that we had kids with us? If you don't want kids in your store - don't have a lolly machine out the front guys... You are shockingly bad - l cannot remember ever having been treated as bad as this. Our kids waited outside for most of it so it wasn't their behaviour. Edgewater is a lovely place to live and visit - but l can't see other locals putting up with this place. l'll be interested to see how long Cafe Boutique stays open as l can't believe we are the only ones to experience this waitresses obvious contempt of customers.

Can't get it right. Cafe boutique, family run business...unfortunately they seem to always be short of change, and lack consistent service. We have been there so many times and have given up as it is over priced for the quality provided. The change on staff is frequent, if you just want a coffee and cake it's ok, but sometimes the cakes have been sitting in the cabinet for way too long and look dry and uninviting. Pot Luck!

Nice cafe but will want to see more improvement. It is good to see we have more cafes in Edgewater and therefore had a really high expectation of this new cafe. The weather was really bad on the day we chose to have brekky there so we have to sit indoor. First, the coffee. They use my favorite coffee bean- tobys estate n it tasted decent. The egg Benedict is a bit disappointing. First of all, 3 eggs r too much for me ( but others may like it) and the eggs r not poached enough. The egg whites are so runny!! They use nice bread so if they can improve the eggs, it will taste great.

The cafe also serves cakes n ice cream which look decilicious. so we ll definitely be back to try them n hopefully
the coffee will stay consistent.

...the food was pretty good. We ordered our usual breakfasts: poached eggs with mushrooms and roasted tomato for me, poached eggs with smoked salmon and bacon for him. The food arrived in record time (indeed, before my tea could be cobbled together) and the portions were plentiful if a tiny bit greasy. I could have done with a second slice of sourdough but Orlando was happy not to be tempted. Next time I shall ask for a second slice.
