Review Yum Cha Cuisine - Maroochydore

Sadly not very authentic or tasty. Prices are steep for such quality. Saying that there were a few good dishes amongst the ones we ordered - the salty egg custard baos were delicious. The sticky rice wrapped in leaves were good as well - authentic.

Had to give a three star review due to the fact that they tried to pass on a refrigerated ice cream as a fried ice cream and said that how it’s made. We have eaten a few fried ice creams before and never had this experience… the main food on the other hand was tasty. The cocktails are okay.. not great. Also expensive for the experience and the food. Was disappointed after coming here reading some positive reviews.

While I'm giving Yum Cha a four, I want to start the review by saying I'll definitely eat here again. The food was great, really fresh and delicious and the variety in the dishes was fantastic. I had a range of steamed, rice, meat and stir fry dishes and they were all awesome. One tiny thing that was disappointing was the selection of desserts was small, but perhaps this was just the day and time we went as we were an early seating on a Saturday. Even in the setting at the shopping center it was a really nice lunch and would highly recommend to anyone who loves Yum Cha. Great to have this spot on he Sunshine Coast and the service was terrific, with the staff being really helpful.

Great sushi train, quick ordering and serving of food. Prices can add up though if your not careful as it is yummy. Friendly staff.

Serving sizes super small for the price they charge!! Ordered shanghai pork dumplings & they came out very watery (presumably frozen) and tiny for how much they cost. Quality of the main meals were OK. The vegetables in the fried rice we ordered were very hard, seemingly undercooked. My partner & I paid well over $100 for the both of us & were disappointed by the quality & amount of food we received. We have eaten at Chinese takeaways half the price of this. Do not recommend!

Great service, great food. Our favourite place to eat at The Plaza.

Very nice. Great items on the train and ordered too. Fully satisfied 4 adults and 2 kids for under $100. Recommend the noodle bowls on the menu

Service was good, food mostly frozen dumplings, food on menu does not represent what was presented as the pictures show large portions and what was given are small portions. But what annoyed me the most was that, the waitress that delivered our food initially delivered the food to the table next to us, when the customer said this is not our order, she continue place our order on our table and the customer said oh well we’ll have it… took pieces of our order and then the waitress was corrected by another staff and than picked up the order and placed it on our table eaten by the other table. During these times cross contamination, SO DISAPPOINTED no care or apology!

Don't recommend if you actually want decent dinner and good service. Worst dinner I've had in a long time. I asked a staff member before entering the restaurant if there were any gluten free options and was told yes. Upon receiving menu I asked again and was informed a chicken dish could be made gluten free. We placed our order and when we recieved our meals I found they had indeed made my meal gluten free. By literally taking our every single ingredient apart from the chicken and vegetables. Both of which had been boiled and simply put in a bowl. I made an injury with staff and as informed the vegetable flavoured water was actually sauce. Also to add to the disappointment my partners meal was not properly cooked and the 'special' fried rice was mostly gluggy with some frozen vegetables.

Honestly was the worst food I’ve spent money on in a long time, service was awkward and food was even worse

Rudest male waiter in charge - that's half a star. Tasteless food and that equals 1 star - one star too many. WHAT A JOKE!

Exceptional food. Sensational service. Beautifully presented, you can taste the effort that went into creating the dishes. High quality, fresh ingredients. Very authentic. Will definitely come back again. Thank you. 10/10

I was a little hesitant to try this establishment due to the reviews, however, as my expectations were low I was pleasantly surprised! I enjoyed the X.L.B ( soup dumplings ) however, the skins weren’t as thin as I usually like them , good quality meat and flavour though . We tried around four different dumplings , the pure prawn ones I also rated high . Other not so much. I did not enjoy the fishy taste of the coriander and prawn ones . Nice greens with oyster sauce . Service was pretty good ! Which I was again pleasantly surprised about ! Overall I would return again if craving yum cha/dim sum and can’t afford a trip to Melbourne!! Not cheep though as usually three items per serve .

I Used Dimmi ( The Fork) to book and received $20 off !
Also they accept Groupon 🙏
Enjoy 😉

* I was too hungry to take photos !
Ps: We Arrived approx 1130 Friday morning - food was hot. It did take a while for the cart to come over from the main dining room ( sitting by the water ). We were there til 1.30pm the dim sum Cart came past three times. We were not in any rush.

Lunch today, seated 4 person, ordered rice and sweet and sour pork for 4 persons, received one portion of rice and one portion of sweet and sour pork. We complained about the quantity of food as we normally receive these portions for just the two of us. The lady serving us was adamant that this is enough for 4 person. We were charged for 4 persons but decided that this is the last time we will eat there. Had this dish many times in the past, Some times with guests like today, sometimes only two of us. so we are familiar with the quantities of food served.

Visited maroochydore, craving for yum Cha. Ordered variety of food like Hargow, pork dumplings, deep fried tentacles and salted egg buns. The only dish which stood out was the salted egg buns. The rest were a disapointment. Nothing like yum Cha back in Melbourne.
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
Omg I was so excited to try this place, it's so busy staff are quiet rude, the vegetarian dumplings had no taste the vegetarian spring rolls just tasted like old oil! My friend said the prawn spring rolls where nice, I asked for the green veggies to be cooked in garlic as I don't eat any met or fish she came back out and said we will have to charge you for the big portion and still was given small portions never going there again!!!

I love yum cha. But this yum cha was subpar.

Putting the flat energy inside down to missing the yum cha cart, we prepared to order like crazy to scratch our dim sum itch. Some of my trolley-dolly favs weren't on the menu though & most the steamed dumplings had a prawn component, making them seem a bit same-same. But pushing through the disappointment barrier, we ordered away: 3 kinds of dumplings, sticky rice & shredded beef please!

The shredded beef tasted alright & was quite small which was fine...until I realised the $25.80 price tag. Uncool. We've had twice that meal for much less elsewhere. Dumpling parcels were okay but the skins were inconsistent - some thick and chewy & others tore the second you touched 'em. The shanghai style steamed pork dumplings were the most palatable & Husbandio liked the sticky rice.

Service was odd, almost strained. One glass of room temperature water was apparently sufficient for me. When I asked for a menu again to consider ordering more food, the dude acknowledged me, walked past the menus a few times & did some leisurely busy-work outside before coming back. Hmmmmm okaaaaay. Clearly time to bail. Hahaha. Doubt I'd return. There's plenty of other Plaza boardwalk options.

Food is very nice, always fresh. Dining experience is nice but it can get a bit noisy inside but thats because so many people go there so it is a full house quite often

Average for this type of food. Starter of steamed chicken and prawn dim sim was very nice. Service from wait staff was a little strange, very quick to ask if we wanted drinks but never asked if we wanted another when we we had quickly finished those. Work experience kids maybe. You would be reluctant to pay them a wage based on our experience.

Very bad customer service. we went there on sat arvo. there were only 3 tables. But wait staff kept on ignoring us, and I had to say " HEY CHARLIE , we're are ready order!" . There's a huge health and safety issue too. Their chopsticks have sharp metal decoration bits and cut my friends hand. We brought it to their attention and they said " OH WE KNOW IT" and give us a bandaid. But nothing was done afterwards and left my friend bleeding, and i hope there's no tetanus. Change those bloody chopsticks to normal ones!!! please
