Review Marini Cafe - Maroubra

Peter Zurcher
Fantastic service, decent portions, good coffee, crispy chips. Even when it’s really busy they don’t skimp on service or quality (although the fish could have included another piece). Often come here on a public holiday and think it’s the best value cafe at Maroubra Beach (even with the surcharge). Steak sandwich uses scotch fillet beef. All salads were fresh too. Yummy chips and they don’t charge extra for tomato sauce!

DONT BE FOOLED THAT ITS BUSY. I assume the only reason people come here is because it looks out to the beach. First tired it a few weeks ago, came here before for just avocado on toast and a bacon and egg breakfast. The food was impressively bad. I genuinely couldn’t make something worse at home. I thought maybe the specific meal we ordered were a miss / we were having bad luck with the restaurant that day as there’s always people lined up and crowded in here - so we tried it again a few weeks later. Probably even worse the next time. Both orders were wrong which happens. But the pancakes were so bad. They were like a solid dry lump of cake (nothing like any other pancake I’ve had before). Found 2 hairs cooked within and on the food that weren’t mine. Was so grossed out by the end didn’t even want to finish half of anything . The flies made it even worse. Will say - Coffee came out quick and was fine. Genuinely believe all the good reviews are their own staff making multiple google accounts and giving positive feedback 😅. Don’t come here, go next door to the chalk cafe - wins everytime :)

Fantastic location and awesome staff. The veggie burger was an absolute banger 10/10 and the chips were fresh, hot and well salted. Will be back!

“My new favorite” “not one thing that didn’t taste good” “10 out of 10” - Christian Muddell. Service, location, food and staff on a busy Saturday looked after us like royalty. Possibly the best beach cafe in Sydney.

If location is everything, then this place couldn't be in a better spot. Pedestrian crossing to the beach directly in front - it's on the corner, so gets the sun on one side at least, and the bus stop is just across the road. As usual, had a flat white and tried one of their raspberry muffins, which was probably twice the size of the ones back in the UK. Service excellent, coffee OK, albeit a bit mild for my tastes, but the muffin was lovely. I've only knocked off a star as the exterior is in dire need of an update.

I hadn’t been here for a while, but this week I came twice and I found it better than I remember. The location has always been great, the cappuccino is pretty good, they use a good oat milk, the bacon and egg was tasty and if you are vegetarian or just want something slightly different from bacon and egg, you can ask then to swap the bacon for halloumi and it is also very tasty.

A casual beach cafe. Very big serves for the price. These enormous barramundi dishes were only $20. The eggs and haloumi was $16. There was also a big Caesar salad. My barra was cooked perfectly. Absolutely delicious. Chips were good but the barra is laid on the chips which did make them soggy. I’d prefer them on the side in a bowl. Salad was a bit lacklustre, but the ingredients were fresh and it was still nice. Others were happy with their meals overall too. The beach is just across the road so the view is nice. Tables outside let you enjoy it in warmer weather. The service is friendly and attentive enough. You won’t get any outstanding service experiences here. But still, they’ve helpful and polite and our interaction with them was good. Worth a visit because the food is good, the prices offer value for money and the location is nice.

I had an acai bowl from here and was satisfied. A good amount of granola and fruit. I think it may have been made with apple juice which was yummy but a little sweet. The staff were nice and friendly. Obviously a good view.

One of my favourite spots in Maroubra. Always delivers consistently good food and solid service. Nice views of the beach, nice coconut milkshakes and a cool vibe.

Located in front of the beach it is the first coffee I have visited after landing in Sydney. I was jetlaged and just freezing so I didn’t remember well that place before I came back few month later to enjoy a lunch after a nice walk around Maroubra.
This coffee shop is the perfect spot for a breakfast / lunch after a surf session in Maroubra.
They have a large menu covering sweets and savoury meals .
We tried the Salt and pepper squids served with chips and salad and they were particularly tasty and not to oily which is not often the case with this kind of meal. The portion was perfect for a normal appetite.
And the same day I tried the Vegetable delight made with a kind of pita bread but the veggies inside were just amazing. I never had a sandwich like that before. It is composed of lettuce, roasted pumpkin, eggplant, avocado and goat cheese. It was so filling for a sandwich but this is the kind of meal you want to finish even if you are already full!!
As it was warm that day we enjoyed one of their iced-coffee with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Just the kind of treat you would love drinking after a long walk near the sea.

Located right across Maroubra beach- on the corner of a row of shops. It has a really cool and relaxing atmosphere and great open view of the beach! Love their burgers

Terrible cafe! Food took 50 minutes to arrive and when it did, it was cold, uncooked and not what was asked. Staff were rude and inconsiderate. Would deffinately not reccomend.

Wonderful cafe by the beach! Visited Marinis twice in 4 days, and both dishes (Vegie Breakfast & Eggs Benedict with Salmon) were close to perfection. Downfall was my poached eggs weren't as runny as I prefer... but miniscule flaw in comparison to the whole brekky.

Out of all the cafes that are piled up next to each other on the main strip in Maroubra, I'd have to say this is probably the worst one. A true shame as they occupy prime location at Maroubra Beach. The food is just bland, tasteless and overpriced for what it is. Wouldn't go back there.

We usually go to Marini cafe as its a walking distance from where I live. The owner of the place is extremely courteous and helpful. The food is brilliant too. Its usually packed during the day but they set up tables outside, you sit ocean facing, enjoy the view, the sun and the food. The coffee is amazing too, I think they serve the best coffee on Marine Parade.

Food: Great when not busy Coffee: Great Ambience: None, way too noisy View: Excellent This is more of a takeaway place

Always good service, generous servings and reasonably priced. Can be little chaotic when busy. 8/10.
