Review Izakaya Goma - Maroubra

Dr. Mahesh Suryawanshi
It is the only restaurant in the maroubra, serving a authentic Japanese food.! Went here few times and I really love the quality of food and the kind staff as well.! There is plenty of available place to sit and enjoy your food.! Take away is also possible and they offer it in a very good way.! Really love this place.! Certainly recommend to try atleast once.!

Very simple and average Japanese food. Decent variety of drinks available.

Fantastic place - great value authentic Japanese for the locals. Remember how we used to go to local cheap and tasty Chinese all these years ago? Well this is a Japanese equivalent, with even better tasting food. Good service, quick, excellent selection, plenty of off street parking on Anzac Parade or side streets.

Casual Japanese cuisine cafe. Moderately priced, good range of food and beverages, including alcohol. Popular for family lunches and dinners, kids friendly. Down to earth atmosphere and the same level service with occasional blunders like "oops, we forgot you had ordered XYZ" or expensive sake served in glasses for water. :D This doesn't bother us. Have been there a few times so it's not that bad I guess.

Have been coming to this place for many years since it first open. I believe there was a change in management several years ago and the quality of food and service has seemed to decline. That being said, the food is still relatively decent and enjoyable at reasonable prices. Would recommend to stick with the classic Japanese dishes like the dons, curries and udon.

Amazing food, excellent staff, great price. Hidden gem of eastern suburb. Must have Japanese cuisine restaurant. Family friendly, soothing atmosphere, quite surrounding, perfect for dinner. Eat in or take away. Plenty of unlimited street parking after 6pm nearby. Close to Bowen library.

Food is absolutley delicious and the staff were good too. The food is really well priced and comes to your table quickly too. The restraunt itself is a little run down with a strange vibe but dont let this put you off. The Gyozas and Ramen were fantastic!

Izakaya Goma in Maroubra is one of my go-to restaurants for delivered sushi and Japanese food before a night shift. They have a good price to product ratio, and have yet to fail to hit the spot. The Kaisen Chirashi Don ($19.80) was excellent. A good serving of all our favourite sea animals on top of top notch sushi rice. The salmon roe was yum.

Personally feel the shop was underrated on Zomato. I have been visiting this shop for nearly 3 years whenever dont't feel like cooking. Tried almost everything on the menu from udon, ramen, japanese pasta (yum!), sushi( aburi salmon with soft shell crab was long time fav), salad to its curry ommelette. The consistency of the quality of their noodles and portioning was what kept me from going back.

Went here for lunch during my stay here in Sydney. Definitely another good foodie experience that i will add to my already pretty lengthy list of memorable experiences. Order came out as fast as it went in....friendly waiting staff. Food was good and well portioned.

Ordered curry omelette rice for take away. When I got home, I didn't see any curry. Only eggs and rice. I liked their food, but this experience is soooo disappointed.

Had lunch on Sunday. Place was ok, easy to find parking. Ordered chicken katsu omurice with curry sauce, not my favourite, sauce was too sweet and very watery but the serving was quite generous. The katsu itself was not too bad. My husband ordered teriyaki pasta, too sweet for him.

Our colleagues and I dined at Izakaya Goma in Maroubra quite regularly for lunch. They are probably the only Japanese restaurant in the area that does lunch for under $10. The catch is you can only have at most three options a day and it varies depending on the day you visit the restaurant. It is also a simple bowl of something with miso soup.

Use leftover rice with microwave heat. Feel shame about the Japanese restaurant. Don`t come to this dirty restaurant. There are even some vegetable leaves in the rice . Feel disgusting never ever come to this restaurant.

It is 31 degrees outside but still a bowl of Tokyo Ramen still makes the day.
Friendly staff & ramen was good. I would have wanted Sapporo but water with lemonade is fine.

Pretty much your run of the mill Japanese restaurant with some decent bento box options at lunch time. This time I had sashimi on rice with roe. I have been here a couple of times and it is nice enough, cheap and decent portion sizes.

Not bad suburban Japanese. Service was average but most of what we had was nice . bonus points for doing decent bao rolls. Nice cold kirin and sapporo. Byo wine a bonus too.

I've been here plenty of times and I've never not been satisfied, this time was no exception. I came at lunch, it was moderately busy and there was only one waitress; she did a fairly good job though! I ordered the sashimi katsu lunch set which is pretty rare of me, seeing as i always prefer karaage. The food was well presented and came fairly quickly. The chicken was fresh and the rice had perfect sticky texture! Unfortunately the sashimi was a bit of a let down...the tuna was slightly chewy and had no melting-texture at all. Overall though, still a very pleasant lunch experience.

Dropped in for lunch I ordered Goma Gozen set at $26.80 which includes assorted sashimi and tempura, rice and teriyaki salmon, salads, and Miso. I have to say the serving was massive for the price they charge - I think it's enough for two people to share. Unfortunately I didn't like their food. Sashimi didn't taste very fresh, Tempura was just terrible - it had so much batter and arrived not hot - it seemed like maybe it was reheated so basically it was not tasteful at all. Salad and other eggplant side dish were also awful. Rice was dry and tasted like it was on the rice cooker for a while. The only thing half decent was Teriyaki Salmon.
Service was friendly however I don't see myself returning.

2 dined here for dinner, ordered 1 starter and 2 mains each and that is more than enough.

Nice ambiance, Noise level was perfect, quick service and friendly staff. Plus a TV to entertain you while you desperately wait for your food to arrive. Just jk.

Starter we had - Aburi Salmon Roll (8pcs)
The fillings consist of butter fried soft shell crab, crab stick and fish roe. On top you have some nicely 1/2 cooked raw salmon. Plus each are BIG! Mmmm... If you wanna give this a try I recommend just ordering 4 if you're having mains as well.
Mains was Karaage-Don (Fried chicken rice) and a bowl of Original Ramen.
Karaage-don was just alright, It would be better if it was less darker (too fried). However, the Ramen... guys the ramen. If the original tastes so good already, I'm preeetty sure the others won't taste any less better.

Since I visit Maroubra every now and then. I'll def come by here again for their sushi and ramen. :)

Friendly service. Wait times not too long. Ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen, but the Ramen we received did not taste anything like Tonkotsu. It was closer to a Miso soup base. Prices are a little on the pricey side. While the food was decent, I did not think the taste justified the prices.
Tonkotsu Ramen = 6/10
Agedashi Tofu = 7/10
Fried Chicken = 5/10

This is a new restaurant that opened in Maroubra. Got a bottle of Kirin, and my friend got a caplico. It’s strange that as a Japanese restaurant,

Best Curry I ever had. Title explains this review. Yes, it's my first choice for authentic Japanese curry. I ordered a Gyu Shabu Curry and didn't regret a single bite. The texture was fine and smooth and had a nice sweet flavour in it. I am not a fan of chilli, but it was just right for me and so did my other 2 friends who enjoyed their meals. I would really recommend everyone to try it, price is reasonable. Food quality is great as well as their service. Hope this short review help many who rocked up at Maroubra like I did!

This place is one of Sydney's best kept secrets. Proper Japanese white rice, tasty sashimi, great katsudon and the giant tempura prawns are a must have on the menu.

Best service - even saw the waitresses help and old guy to his car. Best food - everything was fresh and the staff really care about the quality of everything. I'll be back that's for sure.

It's okay. I found the chicken katsu a little bland.

The edamame was done well, cooked properly.

The sashimi set is quite normal.
