Review Illi Hill - Marrickville

Gaia
Great VEGETARIAN options. Big portion and delicious food. The veg burger was a triumph of flavours, each bite was a joy, and perfectly cooked side potatoes. The mushrooms toast had a great, intense, roasted garlic flavour, and the mushrooms texture was so meaty. The omelette was packed with freshness and the butter provided for the bread was an absolute treat: delicious. The coffee is also excellent quality. last but not least, beautiful custom service. Definitely recommend.

Extremely friendly and welcoming staff! We had the Benny and the hotcakes…very tasty! Both with a unique take on the standard dish! Def recommend!

I ordered the Mushroom Toastie and it was so good that I forgot to take a photo before taking a bite. The vibes were great, it got a bit noisy after a while but that’s to be expected for a Marrickville cafe at brunch time. Friendly service, didn’t rush us out after we were done eating which is always appreciated.

Great local cafe with friendly staff. The breakfasts we enjoyed were delicious as were the coffees.

My partner and I have made this our new go to Cafe. Great and friendly staff. The kitchen and coffee has always been on point. They are also dog friendly outside and it is very common for us and others to frequent. Great place to hang out in the morning shade and have a coffee. I highly recommend the brisket skillet!!!!!!!!

I found this cafe to be noisy, cramped inside and to have poor quality coffee. My shakshuka was far too spicy and ruined my meal. The coffee also took 20 mins and arrived after my food.

Lovely community cafe with friendly staff. It's a dog friendly place so you'll love it if you like your dogs. Decent hot chocolate while the food is amazing. I recommend trying out their the Serrano if you like premium meats. Reasonable eait times and decently priced for the area. There is a toilet on site and plenty of parking surrounding the cafe.

Quirky cafe with a little bit of charm.
The menu has a good variety across both the breakfast and lunch choices.
A quiet spot for brunch.

Flavours in all dishes were great and portion sizes were great. Food delivery was efficient.
The burger had a great cheesey flavour which is expected with 3 types of cheeses on it
All dishes had great presentation too.

The waiter did get a little confused with the coffee orders as he wasn't using a notepad. It was good that the lady at the cashier asked how our meals were and made it personal.

Great cafe to visit for your weekend brunch. I had the scrambled eggs with sourdough and a side of wilted spinach - one of my favourite scrambled eggs - juicy, generous and fluffy. He had the potato hash with corned beef. We had a delicious
Nutella cookie to finish. The food and service was tops and will come back to this place!!

went there last saturday to try the buttermilk and ricotta hot cakes. they were terrific, the best one i’ve had so far.

coffee has been sourced from Reformatary caffeine lab and they are using the SQAB blend for their milk coffee. there are single origin coffees available for black coffee drinkers.

figured out the owner of this place used to own elbow room espresso in Chatswood 😎
Marco
fabulous cafe with extremely high produce food and coffee, came with group of friends of 4 ,and all of us were satisfied with the service!!highly recommended and def will be back again to try the other dishes

Nice cafe with good food.
We came here for lunch. Got a vego burger, brisket hash, chicken sandwich and egg Benedict.

The quality is above average and you can tell they use good ingredients.
The haloumi is very soft and the hollandaise sauce is top notch.
Loved the experience.

Table is a bit small when its filled with food and drinks.
Crème Brulee Crack
Lovely corner cafe. Great service, immediately gave us water for the table which at most places you need to ask for several times. Fresh vibrant food, lamb salad with zesty flavours. Iced latte also great for the summer weather.

Rarely have to wait for a table, service is fast and friendly with consistently good food :) Really nice spot to sit outside and have a quiet breaky in the sun 👌

Very friendly and polite staff. Ordered the slow cooked lamb and a piccolo and Justin ordered the triple cheese burger. Both the food and coffee were scrumptious.

Illy HIll is a cute, quaint little cafe opposite the Henson. There is a beautiful warmth and comfort inside and staff seem so relaxed yet attentive. The shakshuka is delicious, although I only wish there was more. Its gooey, tomato, and has a beautiful rich red colour that alot of others seem to lack. Loved the fetta and pepitas leaving it creamy and crunch as well. Stellar coffee also. More please.
A local cafe with charm and a menu with something for everyone.

Food ordered:
Corned beef and potato hash. A hearty dish that is made to satisfy your hunger. All the elements came together well in each bite. I do wish there was a bit more hollondaise dressing the plate as I had a few dry bites.

All dishes ordered were well presented and didn't hear any complaints from the table. On the contrary, my friends who are local said they would be back.

Coffee Ordered:
Long black, latte, hot chocolate. The coffee was great. Balanced and flavourful. Coffee by little marionette, a Sydney roasted not far from here. The hot chocolate was a bit sweet for my taste, not sure what brand, but I would have a preferred a more distinct chocolate to match the rest of the specialty menu.

Ambience:
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely a great cafe for families. Even saw a few turn it into there office, laptop and headphones out. The neighbourhood has decent parking and is well located.

I've been here a couple of times but whilst the food is nice, the service is really poor. Waited 25 mins to order, went and got my own menu and asked for water which took another ten mins to arrive. Left without ordering on this occasion. I understand that sometimes it gets busy, that's no problem! Just let people know there is a wait. It's also really disheartening to sit and wait whilst you see all the takeaway coffee customers getting served immediately. I wanted to order full breakfast and drinks but left to find a friendlier cafe.

Near Henson Park and Henson Pub, this cafe has a vintage vibe to it. Not because they've styled it that way necessarily, but because it's actually vintage - used to be an old corner store. Sit outside or in, and the menu has breakfast and lunch options and makes little marionette coffee, a nice brew. Today we ordered food only; the breakfast salad - with kale, spinach, almonds, cabbage, avocado, labneh and some poached eggs with a side of some good sourdough. The other meal, more on the heavy side, but tasty - was the brisket (consistency of a shredded bacon) and potato hash with eggs and benedict sauce, quite creamy but combined with the salad was a good duo. Not a great deal or atmosphere, lots of what looked to be locals popping in and a kids play area at the front. Food was nice and meals came out quickly but the service was a bit 'vague'. Ie the waitresses were nice but meandering around and not really looking out for the customers and a tad hard to get their attention.

Got the corned beef brisket with a side of choizo. The chorizo came mixed in with the order and not as a side, Chorizo tasted off and overall the dish was very oily. Coffee was pretty good and i would come here for the coffee, but not for the food.

Looks tempting and Interesting from the menu however execution wasn't done too well; their ricotta buttermilk pancakes were actually a bit stodgy and not fluffy at all (almost like the batter wasn't quite cooked enough)... So quite disappointing! The baked eggs weren't quite balanced enough - WAY too many beans and a bit lacking in flavour... (I would think it's quite hard to get baked eggs wrong...)... So... Don't think we'll return!!

Lovely breakfast on way to airport. Delicious corned beef brisket with potato hash. Made to perfection! The hash was so tasty with purple cabbage and carrots and crispy skinned chat potatos with 2 perfectly poached eggs on top. Loved the coffee and service too.
Highly recommended!

Had a nice brekky here this morning. The service was really friendly despite it being a busy morning. Reccomend the butter milk hotcakes with ricotta, pear, chocolate and pistachios.

This is a cosy almost hipster style cafe tucked away in the suburbs.

I came with my partner and her sister.

We ordered:
- Panini (pancakes) - The presentation was sensational (see attached pictures)! it had a large slice of chocolate with nuts embedded in it sitting on top of the pancake. Taste wise, I think there were too many flavours in it that wasn't sure what I was eating. I didn't like it.
- triple Cheese burger - The beef had a bit of spiciness in it that made it so delicious to eat. Although it was called the triple cheese burger, it wasn't overwhelming the burger (which was a good thing, I didn't want to be drowning in cheese).
- Sticky Chai - it was mildly sweet and authentic, came out in a black teapot with strainer

Environment: felt a bit cosy and peaceful (the chai teapots really gave this effect). Its decorated to have a cosy hipster feel to it.

Parking: Street parking, competitive.

Free Wi-fi: I don't think they had any

Overall: It's a good quiet place to go to for lunch or afternoon tea to say, catch up with an old friend, or just have some time to yourself
JMAC N CHEESE
I love this little cafe. I've been via twice now; breakfast and lunch and both times I've been impressed. As a massive lover of cheese I have to say the three cheese cheeseburger had a lot to live up to from its name - and it delivered! Melt in your mouth deliciousness. Lots of parking around which is great for the weekend trips; the staff are lovely too. They were kind enough to let us order off the lunch menu even though it was still 11am !
Little Eats Sydney
Illi Hill is an old corner shop, converted into a sweet, little, back street café with a nostalgic twist. There are little hints of its past for those that care to look and are keen of eye. Situated on the crest of a hill with the Henson pub right opposite, this little Marrickville intersection is one of the most kid friendly spots in Sydney.

AMAZING coffee that my friends and I had two each. Service was really friendly and the breakfast was fulfilling even though I added some sides. Relaxing atmosphere, pretty much a nice and chill Sunday brunch spot
Girlswhofeast
Very homely cafe, great juices, fresh baked good and lovely staff. And yummy food of course, with real decent portion sizes. Baked eggs were great, size of bacon was crispy as it should be.

Came for lunch and ordered the breakfast salad which I'm not she is the same as the breakfast bowl that others had and loved. Mine was a lot of leafy greens with a egg on top. It was ok. My banana smoothie was really nice. My gf's Jamon serrano she liked it especially the cheese they had with it. Service was pretty quick, there is indoor and outdoor seating, prices what I expected but expecting more for the price you pay. Came partly due to Stephanie's recommendation, but I didn't like it as much as her, could be what I got!

Just average, unlikely to return.
Very clean and quick service. However, everything we ordered was just average. The baked eggs didn't have much flavour, and also had no meat. The eggs with hash was also nothing spectacular.

I went with the all day breakfast option inclusive of corned beef brisket, poached eggs, hollandaise, potatoes, purple lettuce and it was absolutely fantastic & my partner in crime went with the breakfast salad which was equally awesome. Great produce, fresh & tasty. The only negative was the 30 minute wait after we were seated, however staff were very apologetic and took off our coffees & juice from the bill.

Will definitely come back

The breakfast salad is the most divine thing I've ever eaten. Not to mention amazing coffee, lovely service and great fit-out. New favourite cafe for sure!

Exceptional barista; superb coffee. Thoughtful, innovative menu with room for old favourites too - love the green eggs scrambled or breakfast salad, and appreciate the indulgence of the build-your-own option. Locally sourced, good quality produce makes for truly delicious fare. On top of this, the attentive, friendly staff keep us (and a host of others) coming back time and again. A true gem.

Two words: GAME CHANGER! Illi Hill is serving up some seriously good food and coffee. This place deserves someone singing their menu from the rooftops. Breakfast was so good the first time I ate here on Boxing Day holiday, I had the breakfast salad which was light, fresh and perfect after Christmas Day indulgences, I came back the following day to see if it was a one hit wonder. NOT SO. I got the hotcakes, oh em GEE good whilst I also helped myself to hubs corned brisket and chat potato hash. Can't wait to go back and order it myself.

Beautiful quiet cafe. Illi Hill has quality food and great service with a local cafe feel.

With locally sourced produce, the chefs create a menu that can impress anyone. The baristas are great so the coffees always.

Highly recommend you drop by!

I just have to give this cafe 5 stars because until I drove 30 minutes in 40 degree heat to Illi Hill did I realize this was my type of cafe!

Nestled in the back streets of marrickville it offers an all round experience for any foodie.

1. Easy parking
2. Quiet streets
3. Boutique style
4. Healthy food
5. Well priced
6. Amazing service.

Illi cafe was on my list so it was a planned foodie adventure with the big sis. We were greeted with smiles and orders taken shortly after.

I ordered the breakfast bowl and my sister ordered the poached eggs with haloumi. We also ordered an iced latte and iced long black (which was strong! EXTRA POINTS)

The food came out very quickly. Beautifully presented and decent servings. I made a few adjustments to the meal with no issues.

The tastes were great! And we sat comfortably for 3 hours and chatted away with no interruptions.

Very warm.. welcoming and comfortable vibe and atmosphere. As an avid foodie you rarely visit the same cafe twice but I'll definitely be back a second time! Menu is awesome. Service is awesome and location is awesome.

Coffee average, service has been rude everyone's I've been there 3 strikes your out sorry but being honest far better options in the area for the high prices that are hung charged. I have not eaten here so can't comment on that.

New local cafe, decent coffee and food. Just down the road form Marrickville markets. Staff have difficulty keeping up when it's busy. There is often a wait for a table.
The chef knows what he's doing, so we keep going back :)

Coffee was terrible, I ordered takeaway, but when coffee is king, and Inner West is King of all coffee (Double Roasters, Coffee Alchemy) you have to up your game. It has put me off ever returning.

More in Marrickville. Had the baked eggs and got a side of haloumi which they put on top of the eggs in the pan. Glad of two pieces of bread to use on what was left in the pan. Breakfast was tasty but I didn't linger on what else there was on display. Another good one hopefully for the locals.

Yet another great reason to live in the inner west. Illi Hill has a great menu with excellent variations on the cafe favourites, fantastic coffee and very fast service. It is family friendly and the prices are very reasonable. The mushrooms on toast were generous and perfectly cooked. Avocado smash, unctuous and fresh. The kids eggs perfectly cooked and very reasonably priced.

Illi Hill is new to the brunch scene and has a 96% urbanspoon rating. Just like a chubby Santa Claus that eats your cookies and drinks your milk, is this too good to be true? Well lit, open kitchen plan inside Illi Hill, Marrickville Stepping inside, we are akin to two fat kids outside a cake shop. The treats on display are a visual feast: thumb-thick choc-chip cookies, melt-in-your-mouth brownies and ultra-puffy croissants which could double as an edible night time pillow. Muffins, cookies, brownies and croissants steal the show Today's mandate is to try the all-day breakfast. It seems the chef plays with a straight bat to suit the crowd.

As I’m someone who loves to eat out for breakfast, I’m always excited when I hear about an establishment that offers a menu with unique breakfast options. Having heard rumblings of a new entry into Marrickville’s thriving café scene, hubby (Mr. M) and I made a beeline over to Illi Hill this past sunny Sunday. On a short trip back to Sydney, this man decided to try… Illi Hill.
Next Stop: Food
The poached eggs were cooked to perfection and I love how big the mushrooms are! The haloumi was nicely grilled, the whole dish was just amazing.

Our new favourite place - Tasty food and good coffee. We are lucky enough to live around the corner from this reasonably new gem. So glad to have the illi Hill guys in the hood and serving up such tasty delights. Of course, the busier it becomes the harder it will be to get a table, but that will be a worthwhile wait.
Dan Buhagiar
A fantastic menu with lots of interesting dishes. Just brunches with a group if 4 and everything was full of flavour and beautifully presented. Outstanding coffee too. We'll be back for sure.
Pollyanna Kinsman
This is my new local place for brunch. The coffee is consistently strong and creamy, the food is always beautifully presented and tasty, the service friendly and hipster. The dacor ties in nicely with the new revamped marrickville oldskool feel. If they can keep this standard up I'll be happy to come back time after time.

I thought it would be good, it was epic!
