Review Ruby Lonesome - Marrickville

This is the best cafe in Sydney. One of those places that offer a menu you can't find anywhere else. The food is exceptionally yummy at breakfast and at lunch, the coffee is perfect always, the cakes blow my mind (and the portion sizes are generous) and the offerings of spice mixes, flavoured oils, candles and other fare you can buy there make for a great gift. I love the vibe of the staff and the space itself and I'm appreciative for the vegan options they provide. Big love to Ruby Lonesome, our one and only. Pls never close.

Awesome vegan cafe! The staff were fantastic, and the food was out of this world! I had the taco special, which was amazing, better then tacos i had in SoCal! My girlfriend had the Bae-Root Bowl, which was phenomenal. The fried chickpeas were crazy good and the beetroot hummus was perfect. Topped it all off with some amazing chocolate cake! And the coffee was great!!! Will definitely be back! Probably tomorrow :D Still amazing post lockdown! They have opened up the back courtyard, more seating, same great food and Coffee!!!

$4.50 for a small takeaway latte is ridiculous. It would be marginally ok if it was an amazing coffee. It wasn’t. Imo it was below average for Sydney coffee. Hi Lana, the purpose of this platform is to allow people to review their experiences with businesses. I bought a coffee from you, didn’t enjoy it and subsequently reviewed my experience. I’m not going to drive back and ask you to make me another coffee just because I didn’t enjoy it. I simply won’t buy coffee from you anymore. I’ll have to give up coffee if it ever becomes $7!

Ruby Lonesome is basically the only cafe I go to these days. The owners (Nicolette and Lana❤️) and staff are genuinely so damn lovely. The food is incredible (The Big Boy and hash browns are a must) and the treats are always on point. If you’re seeking a regular cafe that always makes you feel welcome, is consistently delicious and cares about their community then Ruby Lonesome is the way to go! Thank you guys 😊

Nice spot for some breakfast and coffee. Relaxed vibe and lovely staff. Some interesting twists on classic dishes.

Ruby Lonesome is a spot I’d been keen to check out for a while. Located in Sydney’s inner west in Marrickville, it is a Vegetarian Cafe and plenty of things are also plant based / vegan. With quality food, good coffee and efficient service, we had a good experience. We ordered brewed tea, single O latte on oat (they don’t serve skim here) as well as a slice of their House-Made Chocolate & Walnut Loaf, served with Cultured Vegan Butter. The loaf was light and delicious and a quality treat. In addition we got their sweet spiced butternut pumpkin oats, topped with blackberry, raspberry and rhubarb compote, as well as toasted seeds and nuts. The pumpkin gave it an interesting flavour and texture, quite different to your usual winter porridge. The cafe has a great range of interesting brekkie choices and also lunch meals such as the “Phish-o-fillet” or Buddha bowl. The front counter also showcases some amazing home baked cakes. Inside the cafe, it’s also somewhat of a general store, with home made jams and preserves, cookie dough, Maple chai muesli, Sauces, Tote bags, tea towels, Coffee beans, Honey and Kombucha. A comfortable and casual cafe with a great all round menu.

More of a 3.5 star. I had no idea those was a vegetarian cafe. It also implements social distancing which is great when you see so many places that don’t. Food wise it’s not bad and food came out at a reasonable rate. For a place that doesn’t have any other shops around it’s pretty popular

Mostly plant based cafe. Been here twice on the way to the airport and had a great experience both times (life hack: forget trying to find food at Sydney airport and drop by here instead!).
The food is really good and quite memorable. They have a great breakfast burger that is great. Waffles are also nice and crispy. Lots of pastries on display and some take home items (home made jams). Service is good and coffee is good. Recommend to anyone but definitely recommend to all the vegos in the area!

Had the big vegan breakfast, caramel shake and a slice of lavender cake. All really excellent! I find with big breakfasts they can be greasy and gross but it was really nice!
Caramel shake was perfect, couldn’t tell it was dairy free.
Lavender and lemon cake had a very strong lavender flavour, much less subtle then other lavender cakes.
Friend got the ch’kn dish which was made with the lamyong brand mock chicken. She enjoyed the dish and said although the portion looked small it was very filling.
Will defiantly be back to try more items 😃

So many yummy options!! I quite enjoyed the toastie although the bf didn't haha. Food was quite generous although it could be because we ordered 3 dishes for the 2 of us as we were hungry! Would definitely go back to try more dishes! Some parts of the dish felt a little dry, possibly due to being overcooked, but overall worth trying!

This corner shop revamped cafe has a heavy vegan focus, lots of homemade cakes which changes daily & more space inside then you think when you initially walk past. The service is relaxed & friendly & the Little Marionette coffee is well made. I had a simple mushroom toastie and it was tasty. The cakes all look very tempting & apparently all made by one of the owners. It looks and tastes homely, like having tea and cake at your grandmothers, which is comforting. There is a range of homemade relishes and jams which are delicious.

Really warm, friendly service. Good vegan cake selection, I would definitely recommend the Brekky roll and Apple Ginger lemon tea for a good kick.

The corner store has undergone a makeover and new cafe on the block, Ruby Lonesome, is positively glowing. Gleaming polished floors, dark wood rafters, exposed brick and quirky features such as doors transformed into hanging blackboards lend the cafe loads of personality.
The staff are chirpy and the house made breakfast granola with coyo coconut yoghurt and poached pear was at once homely and refined; fragrant with cardamom, the granola was studded with chunks of dried fruit and nuts. As well as being a full vegetarian cafe
I am informed that the menu is also 90% vegan. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu.
