Great, delicious food, great family place and ambience to go to for a night out. My new favourite go to place to eat in or take out and restaurant has been renovated to a modern day Greek restaurant
Instantly my favourite Greek restaurant in Sydney! If it didn't renovate last year, it would still look like a typical run down taverna on the Greek Isles! Whilst this place do home cook Greek dishes like moussaka, you don't come here for home cook Greek food! My mates and I came on Saturday. For entree (no photos), we shared Greek salad, tzatziki and preserved sardines. The salad was great! Must be the feta. the tzatziki was really good. The olive oil probably made the difference. The low point was the sardines. It tasted like canned anchovies. I mean, I liked it but nothing to write about. For main, we got both the BBQ lamb and pork. We decided on that as we thought we could get more meat. Both were good. And as a free side for every main you get, we chose chips and eggplant. But for me, the best thing was the Octopus (came with potatoes not pictured) and the Lamb Head! The head came with brain, tongue and the eyeballs. Sounds off but tasted almost like heaven! The side was the white beans or fasolada, and... it was great! The service is good. Felt welcomed and the fresh off the boat (or plane) waiters were professional and friendly. TBH they could of been more attentive but nonetheless a great evening.I highly recommend the place for those after home cook Greek food and to try the Octopus and the Lamb Head. Just trust me with this! Can't wait to come back!
Dined here for Sunday lunch and wasn't sure from the mixed reviews I had read.
I found the whole dining experience to be really enjoyable.
We had the octopus and Haloumi for entrees followed by the lamb and moussaka for mains. Food was tasty and came in a timely manner. House wine is $5 a glass and quite drinkable.
Found the service to be really good and nothing was overly priced for the gigantic portions we were supplied.
Will definitely come again!
My mum was the one who introduced me to Corinthian Rotisserie.
We came here for a family dinner and order up a banquet of meat and seafood platters.
Their meat was salty and a little tough however, not juicy at all (which is what i expected) however they're seafood was delicious. I especially enjoyed the octopus.
Haven't been back since but they havent given me a significant reason not to be a returning customer.
A corinthian rotisserie where you can eat in or there's some takeaway in the rotisserie. It was about the only think open at 9:30 at night so popped in and decided to grab something. I got a huge slice of moussaka; lasagne, mince, eggplant, potato and bechemel sauce. Generous serving, accompanied with a bread roll for $12. Nice and tasty too.
The food here is pretty decent.
They're very generous with their portions, offering massive serving sizes for their platters. Their meat is quite salty however but their seafood platters definitely make up for that. I particularly enjoyed the octopus here.
They've also got some great dips. I highly recommend the tarama and the tzatsiki.
Corinthian is definitely a go to place if youre looking for a Greek feed in the Marickville area.
One of my top favorite places for takeaway. I love soft stewed veges & they have a huge choice displayed in trays in the window, just like in Greece & Turkey.
I'm sure you can have a very hit & miss experience dining in, but for less than $50 you can takeaway homestyle food for 4, with leftovers for lunch. My son once played with a nearby soccer team & we ate so well that winter - every practice night I'd come by the Corinthian! No frills & just good, honest value.
Never thought much of the roast meat. They have the standard moussaka, pastitsio (meat/pasta) & spanikopita, all OK. But for me the veges are a 5.0 - they'll do half/half containers & generously full. There's usually roast potatoes, okra, eggplant, giant white beans, peas/green beans, a mixture incl zucchini... I feel like getting in the car right now...
Roast Lamb. Fatty but delicious
Forget dining it - It's all about the Take-away. Have read a few bad reviews on here, and to be honest, they seem fair enough. The service IS blunt. The decor is not great. And it has definitely declined over the 5 years I've been going there.
That said, I thoroughly enjoy a take-away container of roast lamb and veg every now and then. Especially after a few beers when there's no plan for dinner. $12 feeds 2 comfortably. Good, hearty, tasty stuff.
Traditional Old Style, good value. We had a Sunday meal here and have been a few times in the past.
The restaurant is usually quite busy and they don't have that many waiting staff.
Despite that, the meals were served very efficiently and the waiter friendly, with good service.
Meals were good quality, very large portions and great value for money which included the wine as well, with the option to buy a range of Greek wines.
The atmosphere is also traditional, authentic Greek.
Succulent Lamb Cutlets $20. A great, hearty meal of 4 lamb grilled cutlets (that's about $15 alone in raw ingredients from the butcher), accompanied by veg rather than chips. Cutlets were not too fatty, had enough meat, certainly were cooked through, but not ruined. The veg comprised the usual rice and potatoes, but also a generous amount of a tasty tomato based veg casserole of ocra, zucchini, onion, broad beans and french beans, and also a serve of peas..... I ordered a small greek salad ($12) which would have been enough for 2 people for a starter course. It comprised a SMALL amount of lettuce, with lots of tomatoes, cucumber, plenty of tasty, fleshy olives, onion, green capsicum and hot green peppers, and oil and vinegar dressing, but curiously no oregano or other herbs. Plenty of fetta on top. More than satisfying, I had to leave half of it behind.
House red wine, 1 glass, $4.50.
COMPLIMENTARY BREAD ROLL, hearty, thick crusty white bread, nicely warmed up....None of your stupid oil soaked slices.
I was checking out this restaurant personally to see if I want to bring 6 friends next weekend, due to the very mixed reviews here, and YES, I do and I will.....
The waiter was typically Greek in that he was a little brusque at first, but certainly not rude, and I received a genuine "Thank you" from him and the kitchen staff as I left.... $36 all up for 1 person. Not cheap, but the ingredients in Greek food are expensive, and the portions here are generous. I have no connection with this restaurant.
Good But Not Great. Learnt about this place from friends and the real drawcard was the fact they are open late and do good home style Greek food. The vibe is very typical Greek taverna, the service is brusque and direct. The mixed hot entree plate was great and combined with the mixed cold entree plate would be a perfect meal for two. The doughy white bread rolls were a nice touch in that they were served warm - I'm always happy to receive a warmed bread roll! The mains we chose (moussaka and lamb cutlets with vegetables) were too large and the vegetables over-cooked - just like my Yia Yia would serve her meals, so quite comforting in that sense. The prices reflect the size of the servings more than the quality of the meals. So all in all a comforting meal, albeit a little more like Yia Yia's cooking than is good when you're paying these prices. Will I go back? Yes, maybe if it's late and I'm hungry and missing my Yia Yia.
Food was yummy, agree with what other reviews say about the service but after talking to the people at the table next us we realized that it's simply a super busy totally family run restaurant, and yes it reminded us of manual from faulty towers but the food was served quickly and it was yummy. We had a Greek salad and tzatziki, and then lamb cutlets ( which tasted great but slightly overcooked) and the souvlakia. Slight annoyances were the fact that there was no ice bucket for our wine (even after we asked) and that it's cash payment only. Would go back as it's yummy but not for a regular thing.
Great greek. Love this place, service is always very blunt but it just adds to the authenticity of the joint. Great lamb!! Good if you want a filling meal that will send you on your way with a smile.
Love it! I recall mum and taking us there for dinner when I was very young. The food, atmosphere and service is just as good today. Simple authentic Greek food at it's best.
Got the mousaka... Limited take away menu, but took a recommendation... Comfort food at it's best... Looks cute inside, so will definately be heading back to try the full menu! Cheaper meals than most other joints around m'ville for the portions, and don't be fooled by the limited selection in the window... Can't wait for our next visit...
Yummy is am understatement! Best haloumi, lamb & calamari, I ate way too much but I'd do it again tomorrow!!!
The best lamb and halomi in Sydney. Great simple Greek food and fantastic service.
Great feta, top dolmades, quick service. Calamarie looks awesome, next time...
Excellent simple Greek food. Lamb to die for!!
Really authentic Greek food with Greek music. Loved the vibe! They serve Lamb head which was amazing and the quail was absolutely amazing! Had the octopus too which was great. Customer service is not the friendliest though.
Delicious authentic Greek cuisine that's been cooked homestyle. I think the restaurant has been in Marrickville for 40 years.
The 18hr lamb is amazing and their calamari and octopus dishes are hard to fault. Generous servings as well so you'll be stuffed.
Authentic Greek food. Generous portions. Fresh and delicious. You know it’s good when it’s packed with Greeks and there is an old Greek lady coming out and taking away your dishes.
Best Greek food in Sydney. Has been operating since 1962. Our go to place with friends and family visiting from overseas and interstate. Will be back very soon hopefully.
The food was absolutely delicious. They were so quick in getting all the dishes out. Wow the atmosphere was fantastic. Definitely go there again. In fact I haven't stopped thinking about it. See you soon!🙂
Great food. Good atmosphere. "Yaya" is very welcoming and checking on everybody and always with a big smile. We love going here to have an authentic Greek feast. Highly recommend and book so you don't get disappointed.
Delightful and authentic Greek cuisine. You feel like you’re in Athens eating amongst locals in a intimate room. Staff are efficient and characterful. Highlights were the grilled octopus, fried calamari, and lamb. Do make a booking.
