Review Beejay's - Marrickville

Very friendly staff and most importantly very good coffee. The cafe has a really nice warm vibe to it which makes it a great place to hang out and enjoy a cup of coffee and some snacks by yourself or with company. George who makes the coffee is very knowledgeable and experienced and it clearly shows through in the quality and consistency of each cup of coffee. The coffee shop has been recently taken over by new management which clearly know what they are doing with the place. I highly recommend you visit this cafe 5/5!

It doesn't really live up to other cafes in the area. Brekkie choices are great but what you get on the plate is far from what's on the menu. I ordered Salsa eggs, and it was basically chopped up tomato, red onion and cucumber. That's it. Not sure how you can call that salsa. Anyway, coffee was good. Wouldn't recommend this place for brekkie... Sorry guys! :/

Some of the best glazed ribs I have ever eaten. The cafe presents a humble, clean, relaxing family vibe. Highly recommend if you want a good quality affordable meal.

Have been to this nice and rustic cafe at Marrickville a numbe of times. Their porkbelly + bacon & egg breakfast is mesmerizing! Their service is always nice and easygoing. Great to spend the afternoon here. They turn into a bar at night too.

Coffee: BeeJays Blend (Roasted by Single Origin Roasters) Passion: 8/10 Crema: 7/10 Honesty buys alot of cred from me and the barista here said straight up that he wouldn't serve the single origin coffee as it was too stale. So I ordered the house blend as a mac and while nothing exceptional, it was well espressed, not too much milk, and quickly delivered. What more could you want. Obviously as soon as the milk went in the chance of tasting any of the lighter notes went out the window, but it is still makes a good showing for coffees made with house blends. So with records over the wall and the atmosphere looking like it is a bar preparing for the night ahead (which according to other recommendations for cocktails is not far from that truth) and a relaxed kinda vibe, it is a nice spot to sit a chill for a bit. While not a cafe I would travel to, if I was in the area I'd see it as a good option. N.B. No #powerwhoring is available No public WiFi is available

High quality food & coffee. Great value for money too. George is a good operator & has vastly improved upon the offering of the previous owner of Beejays.

Pathetic experience! My partner booked the outdoors area for over 30 people for my birthday a month in advance, to only be told on the day that we didnt have "enough dollars" to have it there, instead they allowed us to sit inside (a spot for only about 15 people). Everyone was hot and stuffy. the food is overpriced. and the people just gave up on the drinks and started to order about 3-4 at a time (as it took WAY too long for a drink). never again! and p.s. never again for at least 30 other people

Beejay and the team are always friendly and make a consistent cup of coffee. On top of that BJ's Cyprian heritage shines through with a Cyprian touch to a range of cafe classics. A very underrated little cafe in Marrickville and always my first choice for food and coffee in a town known for great cafes.

I kinda like what they've got going on here, the cool hipster bar/ cafe vibe

Location is nice but a little cramped in my opinion but I fuss you can only work with the space you have

Food is good with fair serving sizes against price to boot

Nice and chilled out cafe with friendly staff. Ordered the mixed mushroom bruschetta and the chorizo and potato hash for brunch. Both were very tasty.

Poached eggs with a hard yolk! Fritters that were more pancake than corn! Hard avocado. Very disappointed with what seemed like a promising and delish menu :(

I was looking for a burger joint while I was in the Marrickville area. Checked the reviews & it seemed like Beejay's was a good option for lunch. I ordered the cheeseburger which has been pictured in most of the posts. The burger was huge considering that it was just one patty. I had to squish it down a bit before I could take a bite. It was tasty & juicy enough and did I mention...huge 🍔🍔🍔 It's good for a try given the number of burger places in the Inner West & CBD!

Went in for breakfast on easter sunday was very disappointed our foods took more than 30mins to arrive the place weren't busy then and there was no customer service at the front of the house

Roaming the streets of Marrickville on Boxing Day, it looked like the hipsters had all upped sticks and headed off on holiday. So it was a relief to find Beejay's open and ready for service. Our truffled scrambled eggs and bacon and egg on toast with avocado were both very good. Standard dishes but well made from quality ingredients. A special shout out for the excellent bread and the friendly attentive staff.

Cute little cafe. One of the top rated in Marrickville.. Headed there after breakfast to try the coffee. Place was quite rustic meets industrial and a nice little courtyard out the back away from the busy street. Coffee was nice and staff friendly 😊

Good food, nice service. The tables out the front need levelling out. Dog bowl for puppy. Could do with a more child friendly menu. OK value for money.

Nestled in the midst of the ever bustling Marrickville, Beejay's Cafe and Wine Bar is a trendy and welcoming little establishment that's hitting the mark on quality food in a cool, casual environment. Boasting a delicious menu including all day breakfast (I know, I love it too), killer coffee, groovy decor and a sun soaked courtyard, it's no wonder why locals love this place.

Very poor service, we had to find our own chairs for a table after the staff seemed to forget about us. We then had to request our table to be cleaned after the last group had left. The food then took 45 minutes, very poor experience overall.

Smashed Avo & Feta with poached eggs on sourdough, absolutely amazing. Reasonable prices, fast service and relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely go back!

At the vanguard of this movement is young cafe/wine bar BeeJay’s, which is quickly becoming a hangout for all the cool cats in town. As the sun shines, an all day breakfast is offered up. It is a slick infusion of what’s hip and what’s relevant. There’s the usual brunch bandits – eggs, bircher muesli and all the sour dough you could poke your yeast free finger at– but what gives the menu its ‘instagrammability’ is the incorporation of local flavours. The resident Middle Easterners of Marrickville get a nod with the spicy mince/eggs/yogurt combo, as do friends in the Asian community, with the inclusion of Pork Belly in the infamous Beejay’s Brekky. The interior of Beejay’s is just as rustic and striped back as you’d hoped. Old SBS clippings cover the seating, toy cars and animals sit in the spaces between the bricks, and there’s a suspiciou

Although we only had take-away coffees the food and freshly squeezed juices in jars looked delicious.

...I only wanted salad. It was arrived with avocado, spinach and a delicious grain mustard dressing, delicious!

They serve all day breakfast which I LOVE! And another thing I love about the menu is that they have fried pork belly on the big breakfast! Now how can I not say yes to that? Two poached eggs with mushrooms, hash brown, avocado and PORK BELLY! The pork belly was incredible tasty, crispy and absolutely delicious. I could have definitely eaten another serving or two. The eggs oozed with yolk and to me, it was a breakfast of champions!

At nineteen years old, local lad BJ (Benjamin Terkalas) is one of the youngest cafe owners in Marrickville, converting a former Thai restaurant into an eclectic space that marries old LP records with hessian coffee sacks and revamped chairs plastered with strips of old newspaper. It's worth looking up toward the ceiling to notice the quirkier details, like the row of old and new cameras lining one wall, and a trail of vintage toy cars on the other. I'm enamoured by the procession of old cassette tapes that run along the brickwork, a mishmash of Greek artists mixed in with 1980

Beejay's tapas style dinner is brilliant, keep the good work up, my local gem!

Great food, great atmosphere though coffee took ages and was cold. I asked to heat it up in microwave though they insisted making me another one, which took ages and was burnt. They did not charge me though I felt the barista didn't really care. Nothing worse than leaving a cafe feeling like it was your fault. Pull up your socks BeeJay your coffee experience was not good.

Psh.. Slow service. The owner, Bee Jay, doesn't seem to know how to make coffee. Went there once for Southern Fried Chicken which was cheap, but completely burnt. Go to to Cornersmith instead, it might be on the pretentious side, but at least they know what they're doing.

Thanks Beejays. We've just moved into the area and after a week hard work moving boxes, went out looking for a relaxing Saturday morning brunch and stumbled across Beejays. Warm and friendly service, yummy heartening food, good coffee has made us feel well and truly welcomed to the neighbourhood. Cheers to you Beejays, what a great place

Hipster but OK quality. Always an interesting contrast between this place (old furniture, cassettes on wall, owned by a guy barely out of his teens) and the Glasshouse Cafe and Hellenic Bakery down the road where the customers are octogenerians.

Like the others this place opens earlyish at 7am. It's not a huge menu for breakfast but the quality has always been good. Had the fritters and the addition of the salsa was something different so it wasn't all just gooey eggs. They forgot the pork belly but they recovered - a little too quickly since it wasn't fully hot (needed a bit more to heat it up in the frypan - no way they cooked it from scratch in mere minutes). Had the Nutella milkshake again which was great and not blackmail prices. Room temperature water - 1 demerit.

We live locally and come here regularly on Sundays for breakfasts - we really enjoy the food, the atmosphere and the lovely staff. It's got a very relaxed and friendly vibe to it. Highly recommended coming here!

Great food. The food is really nice and a good variety... have been for both breakfast & in the evening for drinks & nibbles. It's a good local bar/cafe and I hope it does well!!

They struggle if it gets busy on the weekends for breakfast to keep up - even though the restaurant isn't full. It can be quite slow and they often forget meals/drinks/etc and the service can get quite flustered.

The outdoor area is nice, but people smoke and it's probably too small a space for people to be smoking while others are eating.

Unhappy with service.. My husband , daughter and i went for lunch on Saturday.
The food was good but the portion size was bit small for the price.
The service was very slow too.
We had to ask at least five times for a bottle of water to served.
The waitresses told me that they have coffee with Colombian beans. So I ordered it. It was a nice coffee but was not the Colombian bean coffee that i ordered. It was an ordinary blend. I was disappointed about that.
They forgot our desserts. We had to wait about 45 minutes to get it served.
When I payed the bill the total amount was bit too high so I asked for an itemized bill. I had to wait again to get it, because there was no paper in the machine to print it out. Finally I got bill then as I suspected, we were over charged for the amount of the large cup of coffee. When I pointed it out , the owner of the cafe said to me " I have no idea, ask the waitress." then he gave me the refund of 20 cents without apologizing..
They never give any customers an itemized bill so I am wondering how many customer were ripped off by them without knowing this.
I'm not going back to this cafe. If you want to go, ask for an itemized bill to make sure they do not over charge you.

Excellent. We have walked past Beejays a number of times and yesterday finally went in for a meal. This place is excellent, the food, the service and the funky interior made it a great experience. This place is great for families too, both of our kids loved it. Great place!!

What Marrickville needed.... Nothing is too much trouble for these guys. Great food for a good price and a smile what more you a girl want!

Try the cocktail that tastes like a frosty fruit (it went will with my breakfast)

Went for breakfast. Nice little spot, friendly staff, quite a cosy feel. Serving sizes were a little on the small side, but fairly reasonably priced. Although my friend ordered a $14 dish, and was about the same size as my eggs + toast, despite the $6 price difference.

Beejay's is great- they know and love great coffee and will go to great lengths to keep you happy. The staff are friendly and remember your names and coffee orders. The corn and zucchini fritters are awesome. I went last week and had a special of a beef burger (premium beef, salad, cheese, onion, aioli) with chips and a Little Creatures beer for $10. It was super good and a big meal- $10!!! My bf had a veggie burger with haloumi and roasted veggies and he loved it. The specials change all of the time so it's worth following them on Fb so you know what's happening. The espresso martinis (with Single origin coffee) are amazing and their tapas look good too. It's my new fave place to bring friends. Do it.

You need to give this place a second chance. They have a new night chef who has a lot of culinary gusto. I ventured in on a rainy day to try some new things and was pleasantly surprised. The menu has lots of witty names for some wholesome tapas dinner delights. " The one that didnt follow Mary" was an awesome lamb dish. I'm pretty keen on trying this place again. The decor is cool and funky too, a nice little hideaway in the Ville.

Ok food nice place. Came for lunch today after Cornersmith was too packed. Sat out the back which was nicely decorated. Ordered the corn fritters with poached egg and friend had the avocado on sourdough with poached egg. Fritter had great flavour but was not crispy on the outside. So disappointed with the egg it came out cooked through, same as one of the two eggs my friend ordered. Her one hardly had the yolk left attached to the white. Asked for it to be taken back and although was very quick, came out pretty much the same, overcooked and not runny. So was quite disappointed.. Good potential but needs to brush up on some things..

Small cafe although VERY nice. The set up is very different which is what's best about it. The staff are great, very attentive and always making the customers feel very welcomed. Beejay's is just what marrickville needed! Well done.

Good food, okay service. We ate out in the back of the cafe, and while it was very pretty, we were pretty much left to our own devices. It was almost a 40 minute wait for our two breakfasts to come out despite the place only being half full. Waiters rarely checked out back, so we struggled to get any service.

The polenta and eggs was average, Polenta was thick, stodgey and bland, one of the poached eggs was cooked to perfection, the other was hard boiled. Salmon was amazing. It was still a good eat

Great cocktails.. Good effort for Marrickville with cool interior. Enjoyed our cocktails and service was friendly and efficient. However, the meat platter was underwhelming and over priced.

Love Beejays and it's just what Marrickville needed. Attentive staff who go to great lengths to make you feel welcome, delicious food and good coffee and cocktails. Very reasonable prices. Highly recommend it!

Good local hangout. I'm a local and heard all the raves about Beejay's, so I headed there last night.
Really like the setup of the place. Originally thought it was a small space, but we got ushered to the court yard which really had a nice feel to it.
The only gripe I have about this place (and like with so many other places in Sydney) is that the music was turned up too loud. My friend got them to turn the music down which they did. When we were about to leave, the music got turned up again and as we walked out, we were amazed the music was louder in the main bar area.
Something has to be said for good conversation at places like this and when the music is so loud that you can't even hear each other talk, it makes the experience very unpleasant.

Good wine and cocktails but the food menu is very limited
