One of my favourite places to have yum cha and Hong Kong food. Very authentic and the staff are so friendly. Nice atmosphere and convenient location. A must go!

DELICIOUS CHINESE FOOD! Hung cheung is a typical chinese seafood/yumcha eatery and i really recommend it as the seafood delicacies are prepared very fresh & are cooked extremely authentically with perfect flavours!

Lovely yumcha here with great service. We tried a variety of steamed food, char siew bun, bean curd roll, bbq pork pastry all hit the spot. The xiao long bao was a bit disappointing as the skin was stuck together and couldn’t retain the gravy inside. Tofu with ginger syrup was also soft and melts in your mouth, just the way it should be! Definitely coming back!

Walked past this place a lot and finally went to try it with the family for yum cha. The food was delicious and the wait staff were nice and friendly. Whenever you want something that wasn't coming around you just had to ask.

They had all the usual yum cha dim sum. I really liked the custard tarts, the pork and prawn in beancurd. I found the sticky rice in the lotus leaves a bit dry and not that sticky and the tofu in ginger syrup not warm enough for me.

This corner Chinese restaurant was quite a pleasant surprise. Upon arrival on a Tuesday night, we were quickly seated and was offered peanuts while we ordered the food.

The tea came quite quickly and the food we ordered followed quitr fast as well. Seemingly family run business. Very clean and the staff setting up tables and servicing wore gloves when handling crockery.

The dumplings were full of prawns. Chunky halves of prawns. Not a branded seafood ball with prawn flavouring.

The sizzling Garlic prawns which was a rather generous serve of prawns. Tasted awesome and had fresh slices of garlic.

The Chinese brocolli was quite a large serving as well.

Grilled Chicken with sauce was quite tasty as well.

Once the table was cleared we were offered complementary orange slices and a sesame cookie each, which was quite a lovely unexpected gesture.

To top it off, the restaurant staff packed our leftovers in the kitchen.

Would definitely go to this place again.

Went to this place for lobster two ways. Definitely was pricey. However the service, quality and taste was absolutely worth it. The staff was very friendly and then family had a great time.

For daily commuter around Marrickville Road, there is a Chinese restaurant right in front of the Marrickville Town Hall. It stood out quite a bit as it is the last restaurant in the shopping strip in between two roads. The restaurant is called Hung Cheung and that’s our focus for this week. Just like quite a lot of Chinese restaurants, they serve Yumcha in the morning and Chinese ‘fine dining’ in the evening with the likes of abalone and fresh seafood. We went there

Had my first birthday here, and have been going there ever since. After 19 years, it has not failed to impress me every time. To me, this place is more than a restaurant but a very strong memory I hold dearly to my heart. Although there has been some news articles about the restaurant, I have never had problems myself. My parents came here back in the 90's and still get excited to drive down to eat the food. I recommend coming here.

The best fried octopus legs 🐙✔️
Delicious dumplings, siu mai, gluttonous balls and rice noodle prawn rolls 🦐✔️
Great Pur Erh tea ☕️✔️

However it's just economically better for me to eat all out at Vihn Phat for $40 (Cabra yum cha), then here for $80 👎🏻.

Recommended.

Yum Cha here is a winner and undoubtedly one of my favourites in Sydney. I seldom dine in but grab a lot of takeaway and can attest to the consistent quality that is being exercised by the kitchen. Dimsum chefs here don't skimp on ingredients and their final products reflect this philosophy.

My must orders are the sinful salt and pepper squid, blood jelly and 'buddha's delight' (Vegetarian roll encased in a thin bean curd wrap). The deep fried squid tentacles are so addictive it should be illegal. Perfectly chewy legs are coated in a thin crispy batter and is a worthy guilty pleasure.

The no1 Cardinal sin of blood jelly is overcooking it and that happens pretty much everywhere except here. Special mention for the in-house egg tarts which showcase a silky custard sitting atop a flaky, buttery pastry.

Dinner services are usually fairly quiet and although the food remains decent, I much prefer the varieties offered on the yumcha trolleys. Don't expect any fancy gimmicks here but do expect quality dimsums at reasonable prices!

Located in the intersection Marrickville Road and Petersham Road, this Yum Cha joint is so jam packed during noon time. If possible try to be there by 11 am.

There is not much to complain about this place, the service is pretty acceptable. If you can speak a little Cantonese/Mandarin use that when communicating with the older lady. English is a safer option for the younger one.

IMHO the food is pretty standard. The Cheung Fun is very good. and the Tofu Jelly wold be the runner up today (would be better if it is not as sweet). Baked BBQ Pork bun is not as good as imagined. Most probably we expect too much after our Tim Ho Wan experience. The Ham Shui Ko has got it all wrong, skin too thick, not enough meat or prawn.

Price is something you cannot complain about here. If you are an average eater, it would most likely cost you 15 dollars per head.

Bottom line: Good food. Good service. Great value.

I love the egg tarts!! The pastry was amazing-very flaky. My friend and I took away some even though we were stuffed. I was high on expectations with the baked bbq pork buns but they didnt quite impress me
as much (not sure if there are other variations of the pork buns here) The cheung fun was silky smooth, definitely would recommend. Altogether 11 orders (including takeaways), and the bill amounted to 62. I think it's worth it for the quality of the food!

It's not amazing, but it is very good. Usually very busy on a weekend, we usually treat it as a yum cha brunch and get there before 11. Service is great, although with little English spoken - which I like. Some dishes are a little sub-par and seen rushed, but honestly, I don't expect high dining from a yum cha restaurant.

Yum cha :). First of all, I'd like to say that this place is pretty damn cheap for yum cha...each time, I go with friends or family, we don't end up paying more than $15-17 per head which is pretty hard to find for yum cha these days especially good tasting yum cha.

The food in general is good but nothing exceptional. But in saying that, for the price we paid - I'd be more inclined to say the food is great! It is also a hit and miss when it comes to the quality of the food which is as expected with all yum cha places to be honest.

The waiting time is definitely around 15-30 minutes during the busy peak times but if you go earlier or later then it's fine. The amount of food that is carted out outside of peak times can sometimes be less but don't be afraid to order what you want from the wait staff. The menu has pictures of all the dishes so makes it easy for people that don't know Chinese!

I wouldn't hesitate coming back and recommend any locals to try this place if they haven't already!

Cha Siu Bow: Baked Barbecue Pork Buns...BBQ Pork buns are typically served in a fluffy white steamed bun so it was surprising to see them in this fashion. However, these were just as incredible! The the pastry was crumbly almost like shortbread and the BBQ pork filling was very tasty. Definitely worth a try!

What sets this Yum Cha restaurant from the rest is its use of fresh ingredients. The dumplings are made fresh on site

Parking is hard around there. First time I have been here, its a crowded place even for 2pm sundays, and its probably one of the smaller yum cha places ive seen.
Everything was good, especially the pork ribs, they were nice and juicy.
Price wise, its was cheaper than we expected
Service wise, food even around 2pm was still coming out fast with variety
There isn't much ambience here but you come for the food and that's what a lot of people do,
Worth trying despite the parking limitations around there

Chinese Seafood Nirvana. Score 12.5/20. Lets get this straight. The decor is all urban Chinese from the 70's, there are stacks of soft drink in the corner and the toilets could do with an update. However, for fresh seafood done Chinese style this is great and cheap local, open all day, every day with BYO. The pippies are live, straight form the tank as are the farmed prawns, which done with salt and pepper are just a crunchy delight. Did I hear mud crab? Stir fried with noddles, ginger and shallots the succulent meat is so sweet and I love getting dirty eating. This is great, fresh Chinese. Tea as soon as you arrive and service above what you'd get at most CBD Chinese places. Also does live fish and abalone plus the usual array of Chinese standards, along with a packed out Yum Cha (expect to queue). Highly recommended and a break from all that Vietnamese in Marrickville and dinner for two with pippies and crab for under $100.
