Review Khoi Eatery - Marrickville

I ordered via menulog for lunch as I was lazy to cook that time 😅 Well, it did not disappoint my cravings for vietnamese food. Crispy chicken has always been my favourite 🥰 and I love that they put vegetable side dishes. The tomato rice was not the same with the other restaurants I tried. This was a lil bit pale and less of tomato flavour/taste. The chargrilled pork was not the same I pictured on my mind. May be I missed reading the description. I was thinking of the usual pork bbq.

Signature BBQ pork chop and broken rice - absolutely delicious and so cheap too. The nem nuong skewers were also really good. Really friendly and quick service

I have been here a couple of times and found their food to be really good across the board, with my favourite dish being the signature pork chop with rice. That pork chop was just perfect, tasty, crunchy and juicy at the same time. My only complaint was that the dish did not come with bigger portions! In addition, dishes had nice modern presentations and the eating environment was also kept clean and tidy.

Fast, friendly service and fresh, flavoursome meals. The fresh rolls were excellent and there's a nice selection of housemade sodas

To the owners be careful when you are preparing your food, I ordered the sugar cane prawns woven noodle platter for delivery and there were hard rock-like pieces in the food that literally almost broke my teeth!! Happened multiple times. Also they forgot the sauce that’s supposed to come with it… how do you eat rice paper rolls without sauce?! Not a great first experience eating from here but the sugar cane prawns were tasty at least

Of all the Vietnamese eateries along this strip this one seems to stand out. It’s a little restaurant with a big heart. From the second you walk in they are very attentive. Quick to take your order and just as quick to bring it out. They haven’t cheated out with anything. Portions are generous and flavour is to the max. Definitely a favourite of mine

Delicious, fresh food and lovely service ❤️ Every time I’ve gotten a meal here, I’ve been so satisfied with Khoi’s warm service and fresh food! My go to is the Tofu Broken Rice. I highly recommend you check them out for your next Viet food fix. I’ve been so happy to get the same food portions with takeaway through lockdown. Stay safe everyone ☺️

Amazing food! The BBQ Pork Chop was cooked to absolute perfection and melted in the mouth. Everything is always consistently fresh, flavourful and moorish every time we have come. I can’t recommend this place enough!!

2.5/5

Khoi Eatery is a highly rated Vietnamese restaurant in Marrickville. The restaurant has a modern interior, simple design, and very hygienic.

The menu clearly categorises special diets (gluten free, vegan etc) for diners with specific needs; which is a plus. Most of their rice dishes with meat such as pork chops, lemongrass beef, were good. The chicken salad was refreshing and well-balanced. I think the vermicelli salad can be improved with a more generous amount of fresh herbs and veggies.
However, the pho dac biet (combination beef noodles soup) took 20 minutes to arrive on the table. While I watched the diners who came after me finished the very same soup I ordered ages ago, my hunger vanished. Great. I kindly reminded the waitress, ”please could I have blanched bean sprouts to eat with the soup?”. Few minutes passed, waitress came back asking ”would you like your veggies to be cooked?” 😳😳😳 And to whom who wondered, I used her mother tongue to communicate. As the group waited for me to finish my meal (at last), 4/5 pieces of beef tendons were as tough as rubbers. I gave some to my friends to try, and no, they couldn’t chew them. It was just an ok bowl of pho.

To sum up, food was hit-and-miss. Service was slow (understaffed, trainees on duty) and disappointing.

Being a Vietnamese I barely eat Vietnamese food when I go out; because I always eat Vietnamese food at home! But when I got to visit this restaurant, I was surprise by how delicious these dishes were! Especially the pho and the bun bo hue, the two dishes I really love!! Soup base was perfect and meat was fresh! Perfect everyday meal - most definitely a local restaurant for locals! Fresh and healthy, so there’s nothing to complain about.

The food tastes good overall (especially the pork chops), however I found a fruit fly in my pho on two occasions consecutively. Waiters also found difficulty in comprehending our orders.
Once Upon A Craving
Khoi Eatery located in Marrickville is serving up seriously good food and prices to make your bank acc happy too. This modern Vietnamese restaurant is serving up home-style Vietnamese dishes just like mama used to make (if your mama happens to be Vietnamese, obvs). The BBQ pork chop was a standout, finger licking good, delicious flavours and the meat was super succulent, available in a variety of rice or noodle options. Come here for authentic Vietnamese food and leaving with full bellies.
🍴What we ate:
🍛BBQ Pork chop broken rice (Cơm tấm sườn) 🍜Vermicelli noodle bowl with Spring Rolls & Shredded Pork (Bún tôm chả)
🍕 Vietnamese Vegan Pizza (Bánh tráng nướng): crispy rice paper with mung beans, mushrooms and tofu (taste of this could improve, it was too bland for my liking)

I have to tell you about Khoi Eatery where I sampled the best traditional Vietnamese cuisine with modern twists!!
They cater for all dietary requirements including Gluten Free and Vegan options and that for me has just changed the game. I mean the vegan pho is next level and they have the best entrees to match. Im talking fresh ingredients, good service, and taste delicious. Check them out on Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Live and have introduced Restaurant Choice gift cardss!!

Delicious and so many vegan/vegetarian options for the non meat eaters.
I got the Bun Bo Hue Chay which was delicious. Even though it didn't taste like Bun Bo Hue it had a nice sour taste like the Vietnamese sour soup.
The service is a bit slow though.

We were very impressed with our visit to Khoi Eatery.

We went for the quintessential Vietnamese dishes of BBQ Pork Chop Broken Rice and Combination Pho with the dishes definitely tasting authentic and very generously portioned.

Great value for money given the quality of food served.

4.5 🌟
Khoi Eatery is a lovely modern Vietnamese restaurant near Marrickville station. The interior is bright and fun. We loved everything we tried including the BBQ Pork Rib Broken Rice ($13), Sugarcane Prawn Vermicelli Bun ($17) and the super fun signature Vietnamese Pizza ($12) which used a crispy rice paper roll as the ‘pizza’ base!

Our favourite was the BBQ Broken Rice ($13) with grilled bbq pork ribs, sunny side up egg and picked vegetables. The pork was perfectly cooked and seasoned and just incredibly delicious - I could definitely eat this dish 100 times without getting sick of it!

We also loved the intriguing Vietnamese Pizza ($12) which was a crispy rice paper and egg base topped with ground pork, shrimp paste, fresh basil and hot sauce. You also get a pair of scissors to cut this into edible pieces. Such a clever fusion dish that was super tasty and fun to eat.

Lastly we shared the Sugarcane Prawn Bun ($17) with vermicelli noodles topped with pickled carrots and daikon, fresh mint, cucumbers, crushed peanuts and seasoned fish sauce. I was expecting individual sugarcane prawns so was surprised when it came out with thick slices like from a loaf. The meat was super tasty and the whole dish was perfect for something light and refreshing.

We also loved our coconut juices with lots of coconut flesh included - so fresh and delicious.

Definitely recommend Khoi for super fresh and tasty modern Vietnamese dishes that are also a bit fun and different!

A world away from the Vietnamese restaurants in Cabramatta, Khoi Eatery in Marrickville offers a classier experience with the same great taste and much loved Vietnamese favourites at an extremely affordable price.

Absolutely loved the rice noodles in the Beef Pho and the slowly simmered beef broth was rich in flavour without an overpowering hit of salt, common to most pho dishes. Being a small body, I usually struggle with finishing a large bowl of pho, but my friend and I completely demolished the dish because it was just that good!

I also had the pleasure of trying the spring rolls and shredded pork vermicelli bowl. A classic Vietnamese dish, the vermicelli bowl did not disappoint. The seasoned fish sauce was intoxicating and really accentuated the deliciousness of the spring roll, picked vegetables, crushed peanuts and noodles. I loved how big the serving size was and makes for a great takeaway option as seen in the photos.

Highlighted as one of their signature sides, I was keen to try the savoury steamed rice cake (3 pcs). By far the most colourful and enticing plate, I really enjoyed the dried shrimp and water chestnut atop the rice cakes. Drizzling the fish sauce over everything again helped to elevate the dish. My only critique is that, texturally, I found the rice cakes a bit too dense for my liking.

The young coconut juice was smooth, refreshing and I liked chewing on the coconut flesh. The yuzu soda was an interesting drink where the fizz was more prominent than the yuzu flavour. A refreshing accompaniment to any meal, it definitely felt more like lightly flavoured sparkling water than a full-flavoured soda.
My thanks to Khoi Eatery for the invite and hospitality.

If you'd like to read more of my reviews, please check out my zomato page and visit @cynthiaeats_ on Instagram for more photos!

Fresh simple menu. Had beef brisket pho with lemon juice to wash it down. Wife had combination pho with peach ice tea and thoroughly enjoyed it. Sensational...
Kids all had different types of pho and they cleaned the bowls. Wait staff were pleasant to deal with and the atmosphere while a little cramped was good. Reccomend

Really lovely food, friendly staff, quick service. Clearly marked vegetarian and vegan options as well as gluten free. Seems to be doing slightly different and more restricted menu than some Vietnamese places which I think leads to potentially more finesse and fresher food. Highly recommend.
