The brilliant colour & cuisine of Argentina has been brought to life in Sydney, with Stamford Plaza’s La Boca Bar & Grill.

The eclectic & vibrant decor is definitely the first thing that catches your eye – with bold colours striking out from across the restaurant’s every corner. A far cry from the subtle and styled interior of most hotel restaurants, this easy brilliance is a welcoming change of pace. The flaming Asado grill. That most iconic of Argentinian culinary spectacles, the flaming Asado grill, is in prominent view from any point in the restaurant – the glistening cuts and barbequing sides of meat a tantalizing reminder of what Argentinian cuisine is here to offer.

‘La Boca’ is Spanish for “The Mouth” – and that’s exactly what this restaurant is about. That may seem a little unsurprising, given the usual role of restaurants, however this Argentinian bar & grill is taking this to the next level. With a packed menu containing staples such as empanadas, churros & chorizo, the real standouts are the variety of barbequed meats. Between the flame-grilled Asado meat and the traditional Parrilla (gaucho) grill, there is nothing for the meat-lover to find wanting.

I can’t breeze past the Parrilla without mentioning the Entraña skirt steak – phenomenally tender, beautifully seasoned & grilled to perfection – it’s rare to find a steak so unbelievably well-handled. All the meat used by La Boca is sourced from within Australia, and head chef Nicolas informs us that the kitchen follows the philosophy of ‘Nose to Tail’ where the cuts of meat not grilled and served are used to season the restaurants’ stocks and broths. The dessert menu is similarly impressive, with the Espresso Caramel Cake a true standout, as visually impressive as it is bursting with flavour.

The cocktails on offer are many and varied, each bringing their own unique twist to the institution of Argentinian dining, as well as a wide selection of classics. The wine list is designed to go hand-in-hand with the menu, with special mention going to the selection of malbec, bringing that fine Argentine tradition to Australia in dazzling style.

Meat cooked over flames on the authentic Argentinian Asador Grill at La Boca is a unique experience for diners with the open kitchen showcasing chefs expertly combining the finest Australian produce with the cooking traditions of Argentina. The result is tender, mouth watering meats and seafood perfumed with the smoke of Australian redgum. We started with homely and comforting empanadas of corn, beef and lamb and the most luscious provolone croquettes which exploded on impact! (I'm very sorry I didnt get a video of this, it all happened too quickly!) Then we feasted on grilled sausage, squid, lamb, pork, chicken but the overwhelming favourite of the night was the skirt steak which was so flavourful yet tender with cooking in the sous vide and finished over the flame. Service from the staff was typical of Argentinian culture, so warm with a focus on family and sharing. Just a pleasure for us diners! Dessert of pear clafoutis and traditional espresso caramel cake were a lovely end to the night but nothing can top the hot and crispy churros with caramel fondue which had me reaching again and again for 3rd and 4th helpings!

Meat, meat, meat and more meat...
Been wanting to go to an Argentinean asado for ages and finally ended up at La Boca. A bit 'citified' but still a really good meat fest...
The pork was unbelievable. Three beef, lamb, chicken and sausage were excellent as were the grilled veges.
At $150 for two with wine and a beer... it was good value. The service wasn't perfect but good enough.
If you want meat then go here...

This is the first Argentinean restaurant I have ever been to
and it was a pretty good experience. The service was pretty good, and it had a
great atmosphere. There was quite a few choices on the menu and in general,
everyone was happy with their food. I got the ribs which weren’t bad, but I have
definitely had better. Desert was yummy and the cocktails were really nice.

Argentine food seems to be somehow disappearing from Sydney, so La Boca is totally worth it for the asado lamb and pork, fantastically tender and juicy meats, even if you don't get much compared to the growing number of American BBQs. The empenadas were also perfect in regard to the bread and fillings but cost $14 for two small ones. I'm really impressed by the food quality, much more than I was expecting, but you do need to be ready to pay for it. Service is very slow, as is normal in Argentina.

Ate here two nights in a row due to a business trip. The first night I had the mixed grill (large). The serving was small which was disappointing however the meat was very tasty and I could have eaten another full plate. It came with 4 pieces of potatoes so I was lucky I ordered a side of mushrooms and Brussel sprouts. The second night I had the empanadas and the were good. The rib eye was also nice. Service was pretty good overall.

Yum. If you are a carnivore you will love this place. Some of the best grill/BBQ you’ll find. Thoroughly recommend the mixed platter. Interesting (in a good way) sides- I had the mixed root vegetables (heirloom carrots, beetroot and parsnip). Yum!

La Boca bar and grill Argentinan restaurant is an impressive hotel restaurant, a little different from the norm. La Boca is at the base of the Stamford Hotel and only a stones throw from Kingsford Smith Airport Sydney. occupying a huge space with centrepiece being the fire pit (the Asador). The Asador, not only a spectacle, it is what La Boca use to cook their meat. Argentina being famous for their meat, La Boca impressively cooking whole carcuses traditionally over flame on the Asador. The bits that aren’t served are utilised in stocks.

La Boca Bar and Grill is a new Argentinian restaurant located 10 minutes from Mascot train station. We were invited to the launch event of their new menu called Chef’s Table. The renovations of La Boca were completed in September 2015 and since then, they have been serving an à la carte menu. Chef’s Table was the launch of their new set menu, designed by La Boca Sydney’s French-trained Head Chef and their Argentinian group Head Chef from the Adelaide flagship restaurant.

I had the honour of meeting the head chef, who flew from SA for the Zomato Meet & Great.

Nicolas, explained how that La Boca doesn’t use over the top marinades and sauces for its meats. Rather is it naturally smoked in house and use that basic of ingredients as the meat is the hero of their dishes.

I found the dining experience fun and vibrant. Perfect for families as you are see how the meats are smoked.

Remember is that, that this is Argentinian food, NOT Brazilian. So do not expect big, bold flavours. Rather, South American meets Italian. ✌@foodiesguidetosydney

If you dream of meat slowly grilled over hot coals for most of the day till it's cooked tender and juicy in time for you to devour it - then think La Boca. Kicking the frequent trend of expanding out of Sydney, La Boca has spread its wings from Adelaide into Sydney - and it's going to keep on growing.

Sir and Count N were there for a Zomato Meetup and to try the basted and BBQ'd goodies. However, it soon became clear that while La Boca does do a mean BBQ they offer much more than this. The menu has plenty there for those that don't drool at a BBQ or just want something different. We started with a few sangria's and a chat with Chef Nicolas Arriola who flies in and out from Adelaide regularly to keep an eye on things. It was great to hear his stories and see his passion.

First ever Zomato meet up and first time having Argentinian food made this dinner last night super exciting! I actually had an exam the following morning, but couldn't give up such a good opportunity to meet up with some foodies and try new food, so no regrets (test ended up being alright). I was too excited throughout the night, so don't remember the exact ingredients in drinks/methods of cooking.

Food here is quite lovely and very meaty. Be prepared to eat a lot of meat. Don't get me wrong I love meat, but a balance is also good. There was a lovely seafood platter to start which was very tasty. The cocktails accompanied the meals very well.
Absolutely loved the chocolate cake! Incredible

Stumble yourself into La Boca and get a whiff of that aroma of smoking meats amongst the energy of an open kitchen. Lets keep this short and sweet.

If you like great meat, great cheese, great seafood, great drinks or great desserts, you might have found yourself a place worth visiting.

Whether it was the selection of cured meats and cheese or the delectably fresh plate of seafood (that scallop though..), my tastebuds were sparked and ready to feast.

Whether it was the plate of juicy, slow BBQ'd meats of lamb, beef and pork (bonus crispy skin +10000 points) or their ridiculously good layered chocolate and coffee cake, my stomach was left full and satisfied.

Either way, go and have a visit. Seriously, every person deserves the right to good authentic Argentinian food.

What a fabulous experience! I've never tried Argentinian food before so I'm not going to pretend like I'm an expert, but if what I ate tonight is anything to go by, La Boca is a true gem in a sydney city which is extremely sparse of not only authentic but quality Argentinian food.

The house cured meats were mouthwatering as a starter, with each mouthful being better than the next and washed down with a glass full of one of the greatest sangria's I've ever tasted. The seafood, whatever you do, DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT TRYING THE SEAFOOD, the oyster, the prawn and the scallop were undeniably delicious.

Now, onto the meats. Let's just say La Boca kicks brazillian churrasco in the butt. The meats are tender, flavoursome, and there is something enticing about being able to see it being cooked right in front of your very eyes.

If your belly can handle it, the chocolate and coffee cake is the perfect way to wrap up your meal (food coma may be induced).

There isn't a single element of this meal I didn't enjoy, the cocktail range is phenomenal and the wait staff have incredible knowledge on the food.

Definitely make the trip out to Mascot, it is beyond worth it!

Ps. For those who are confused where it is, park at Stamford Hotel :)

OMG!!! I'll have to try everything on the menu now. The ambience was gorgeous and the restaurant staff were onto it, every single time. Friendly, fast and efficient. The food for entree we ordered was; the croquettes, squid and empanadas. Couldn't fault a thing. For mains we ordered the 200gm sirloin and salmon special. AMAZING!!! Even for a small steak, it was incredible and filling. The salmon skin was crispy and still attached and the fish was cooked superbly!! The cost??!! Worth every penny!! So we'll priced and the value you received I would've been happy to pay more! Thank you for such a delightful dining experience and thank you from our taste buds!!

With Christmas just around the corner, there’s no shame in starting the holiday eating early – so get in and find out what the fuss is about!

Wouldn't go if i was real hungry but would go back for quality. Very nice place at the Stamford Plaza with an open kitchen so you can see the chefs at work over open fire. Little bit pricey and meal sizes weren't anything to brag about but for something a bit different this was well worth it. Never had Chimichurri before, absolutely loved it with the skirt steak. The tastes were terrific though not a big range of options. Kids meals very reasonably sized and of very good quality.

It was a good place! Atmosphere was not great... BUT if you just want a quiet night with a partner or friend to talk and eat something yummy- it’s a good place. Otherwise if you want people buzzing and a fashionable restaurant... this is not the place

There is Argentinian Asado in Sydney. This can be found at La Boca Restaurant inside the Airport Stamford Hotel, Sydney.
This provided us with fond memories of our visit to Argentina last year, which was a culinary highlight for us and Asado became our favourite food. This is where the meats are cooked on the Asado or Parilla grill (meat mounted on a rack, cooked over an open flame) by the Asador (BBQ Chef/meat master) and this stuff is next level. Whilst we’re not all going to Argentina for this, we can experience it in Australia, through the Stamford Hotel and at their Hotel Restaurant, La Boca.
La Boca is named after the suburb in Buenos Aires, the area filled with colourful houses which has inspired the decor of this restaurant. The walls are draped in a vibrant print reflecting the colours of La Boca. However, the big draw card and main attraction is the Asado, with flames roaring and the meat neatly sitting above cooking and taking on flavour from the method of cooking, it is impressive and something to behold.
The restaurant also has a fully stocked bar, with the bar staff preparing a range of cocktails and they also have a range of wine and craft beer on offer.
We have been to this restaurant on a number of occasions but returned for a dining event with some fellow foodies. We sampled Argentinian wine - Malbec, paired with the traditional Argentinian cuisine.
Empanadas are common fare throughout South America and the La Boca version have a nice crisp doughy outer casing and have a tasty filling of corn, beef and lamb. The only problem, we were left wanting more, but knew the feast had only just begun.
We have already mentioned the Asadors are meat masters and this technique was on show and translated into seafood too, with their amazing squid. Beautifully tender and marinated in a lime dressing, with capers and chives.
The Traditional sausage sampler is another insight into the Argentinian passion for preparing and cooking carnivorous delights. The sausages are juicy and have plenty of flavour. The last of our entrees was the delicious Provolone Croquette.
The mains we shared were all mouthwatering quality meat based dishes. They use locally sourced 100% grass-fed, choice Australian meats. The use of Asado and Parilla based cooking Is designed to enhance the flavours of the meat through the grill over Australian redgum and Argentinean charcoal.
To sample a bit of everything the La Boca Signature Fire Grill is a good option. A mixed share platter of meat lovingly cooked over open flame for 8 hours, including the free range pork belly and lamb asador. This also comes with skirt steak, pork sausage, salt bush lamb sausage and chicken.
Cooked on the Parilla Grill was the Entrana skirt steak, which was a favourite (and the favourite of all other diners too). It was a thin cut, which was super succulent and served with a chimichurri sauce. This also features on the Laboca $15 express lunch menu, well worth stopping in for.
A higher grade steak on the menu was the 42 day dry aged steak sirloin. A lovely cut of meat with plenty of flavour, also grilled on the Parilla and cooked to order.
We also got an Argentinian corn cake - traditional corn and pumpkin hot cake with grilled mushrooms and salad.
The group finished off with dessert which included a soft flan type dish - the Pear clafoutis (red wine and poached pear almond cake), a slice of the chocolatey and coffee flavoured traditional espresso caramel cake which was rich and decadent. A must order is their Churros with caramel fondue, another Argentinian Specialty. These light and fluffy doughy sticks of goodness add freshly fried and perfect to dip in a pot of dulce de leche (caramel).
The meal here is unreal and we absolutely loved it. We would highly recommend coming to try their Adado and authentic Argentinian fare.

I'm from Argentina and I couldn't have had a better experience. Tatiana was amazing: friendly, accommodating, smiling all the time. Food was delicious. Empanadas just the way we have them at home. Steak made the Argentinian way and delicious panqueques for dessert. Went for the lunch set menu (served until 5 pm) were you get 2 options for $25 and then paid another $12 for the panqueques. Super recommended!!
