Review Zia Pina Pizzeria - Mascot

Cosy, casual Italian. Food tasted great and arrived in good time. Staff were friendly and helpful. Felt like a suburban Italian restaurant from the 80 - with classic Italian comfort food. We certainly felt super comfortable after tasty entrees, rustic pizza and indulgent dessert!

I have been meaning to visit for a while now and finally got to try last night and everything was just so well done. Highly recommended for a casual Italian dinner with the favourites. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed and just perfect. Will be back.

Went there for the laughs from listening to the Hamish and Andy podcast but left there feeling like I died and woke up in the town of Pescia Italy where every meal was made by the most experienced chef in the village. Not only was the service authentic and polite as well as the recommendations but also the speed of the food and more importantly.... the TASTE! Just pure bliss, Everything was just superlative. I want to thank the team there and will stop in when I fly back to SYD Christmas time. Ci vediamo presto!

We ordered the garlic bread and two pizzas (mozzarella and chicken). Both came out fresh from the oven. The garlic bread was soft and almost butter-like in how easy it melted in your mouth. Then pizzas were both piping hot and tasted like a pizza should taste. Simple flavours brought together to create a masterpiece. Will be coming back again.

Short review, not worth the money the pizza is overpriced for what you get. It is very cramped when it gets busy. So I went here on Saturday night with a full set of mates. Around 10 of us. We were sat in the back where we had the place to ourselves for the time being and got some garlic bread and other things. Garlic bread was good. But once we all ordered our pizzas and got them the place started to get utterly packed giving my partner an anxiety attack because of how chaotic it was. The wine we got was horribly overpriced, the large vegetarian nightmare was okay in taste but priced at 28 dollars each! It was not even remotely worth that price. I get better quality and price pizza from Crust. Safe to say I won't be coming back here again.

Exactly like the small family restaurants in Italy. The carbonara and gnocchi was incredible. Very impressed.

Seriously great place. Awesome tasting food - had the bruschetta and Prosciutto pizza - best pizza I’ve had in a long time - not oily - and the bruschetta had the perfect amount of magical oil. The restaurant has clearly been here a long time and a stalwart for the area. Great service and great vibe - I’ll definitely be back.

Hamish and Andy brought us here but the food surpassed our expectations. Pino is a great bloke and a master of his craft. Pizza was delicious and the atmosphere was great! Highly recommend Zio Pino Pizzeria!

The pizzas weren’t great - even the one with a burnt bottom was thick and soggy. This might have been due to putting a huge amount of toppings on, although I didn’t really rate the toppings. The pizzas did seem cheap though. Likewise the lasagne - some layers had dried out, the layers at the bottom clumped together badly, but it was drowned in a lot of tasty bolognese sauce so was pretty good overall while being quite cheap. On the pricing, dig that delivery menu - free delivery, prices seem lower than in-store (although it’s hard to know if the in-store menus I found online are up to date), and the prices are all over the place. Different types of pizza have wildly different price ratios between the medium and large sizes and the “meal deals” seem to be more expensive than getting the individual dishes.

I got the tortellini bosciola as part of the $10 lunch special. The serving was very generous. The sauce and tortellini tastes good but I wasn't a fan of the bacon, I don't think it was salty enough (I felt like I was eating ham cos it was quite pale)

Can't thank enough to zio Pino and his staff for making my birthday so special. All of my friends and family said they have never laughed so much! I requested Italian music and made the atmosphere very authentic, plus most of the staff are Italians. The staff were constantly checking on us and making sure we had everything we needed.

We asked for the $35 pp set menu which included garlic bread, salads, pizzas and pasta (Unlimited!), BYO and no charge to bring your own the birthday cake! The food was 10/10! and parking is easy!

The night we went to this restaurant, it was the Pino's (owner) birthday as well, however he was working on that night, which shows how passionate he is about his restaurant! He also gave to everyone free house-made limoncello! (Can't complain!)

Thank you zio Pino and team!!! xx :)

The red and white checkered table cloths are usually a good sign that the Italian food it going to be nice and authentic and it’s definitely the case with this place. The pizza bases are nice and thin and they have a good really specials list, including crab linguini.

I am not sure why this place is so quiet. Great lunch selection with even greater prices. Very generous servings and authentic wood fired pizzas. The traditional red and white checkered table cloths is a nice touch.

I had the chicken Italia ! It tasted great and the chicken was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy ! Definitely recommend to go there for lunch as the lunch deals are on !

Like a visit to Italy. No slick waiters and high pressure service here, just real Italian people who care about what they do and are so evidently proud of the good food the serve. Nothing is too much trouble, generous portions and delicate flavours. Yum! Really enjoyed interacting with the staff almost as much as the food

Booked a table in advance for Saturday night. You'd expect that the table would be ready for us once we got there. We got there on time. Table was still dirty. We were sent to stand at one place then another place in the dining area while they quickly changed the table cloth for us.
The place was not full.
Finally, we sat down. Floor was filthy. Our feet were treading on dirty pasta & meatball bits among other things under the table. Felt very irky.
Area was noisy.
Ordered food, only to later be told that they ran out of chicken.
Eventually the food arrived. Chips were undercooked & oily.
Garlic bread was ok.
Serving portions were good. And the dishes were up to standard.
Prices were reasonable. Staff were friendly.
But overrall, the lack of table/floor hygiene & high noise levels left us feeling uncomfortable.
I may visit again in a few months time to see if they improved. But am not in a hurry to take my family there again anytime soon.
Unfortunately the delivery service has gone down hill and is now very ordinary. Twice in a row delivery was late and the food was average and warm at best. Latest time the desert was melted. I try to support small local business but it just isn't good enough and not worth the cost. I would hope the dine in experience is better.

I'm a regular here and it never disappoints!
The pasta tastes like its from Italy, the chicken boscaiola comes in big portions with fresh vegetables well worth the $24 and the pizzas are absolutely amazing!
You can taste the love in everything they make!
Highly recommended

I was a bit apprehensive going to Zio Pino as last time I went it was Zia Pina! Thankfully not much has changed. The service is friendly, the food is delicious and it was as busy as always. Very well priced too.

Great food!! Would definetly recommend!!

Delicious and authentic Italian food. I loved Zia Pina - it is a little piece of Italy hiding in Mascot! We had the gnocchi with gorgonzola, the vegetarian pizza and the rocket salad - every mouthful was absolutely delicious. The gnocchi was perfectly cooked and complimented wonderfully with just the right amount of creamy gorgonzola sauce. The pizza was wonderful with homemade sauce and generous amounts of cheese. Yum!

If you want to try traditional Italian food, Zia Pina is perfect. The restaurant is family owned, has an extensive menu, the owners are Italian and service is great. I'm Italian myself and I definitely recommend the food!

Great service with a friendly smile. Best service in the area hands down and the food is great. They are always busy for a reason.

You only need to look around at the wall of well known aussies who have visited & signed menus to confirm this.

I stick to the pizzas and pastas because they've been consistently good. This isn't going to be the most amazing Italian food you've had in your life, but if it's cold, raining and/or you can't be bothered cooking dinner and just want to relax with some nice food, a glass of lambrusco and helpful waiters, swing by and give it a try.

***Totally Recommended***. We go there regularly even though we don't live anywhere close to Mascot.

If you are seafood lovers, you gotta try their Seafood Delight Pizza! It is so amazing, the prawns and scallops are big and fresh!! Haven't found anywhere serves seafood pizza like that just yet!

I also recommend the "Vegetarian Nightmare", lots and lots of ham and pepperoni, really really amazing!

The staff are so friendly and the price is fairly cheap. Heaps of parking spots available. Totally recommended.

Yum and cheap! If staying at airport hotels would struggle to get a better meal. Had prawn & chilli pasta-best pasta I've had in ages, my partner had a pizza also loads of flavour. Will definitely return.

Been there several times over the years and it's always been great. Awesome Italian food, generous servings, great service. It's really laid back casual dining. Small groups, large groups, kids, whatever your party. If you live in the area and haven't tried it, why the h@ll not!?

Pleasantly Surprised!. We picked this restaurant out of the blue off Urbanspoon. Apparently this restaurant has been running for many many years, and the decor shows it. The food, however, is very reasonably priced and our dishes were very tasty. The menu is extensive and they have a specials menu as well. $96 bought us a pizza garlic bread entree for 3, 3 mains and 3 desserts, plus a bottle of wine. How good is that! The waiter was very attentive and deserving of a tip. We'll be back.
