Review Grk Traditional Souvlaki - Mascot

We visited Steki on a Tuesday night and had the pleasure of Jimmy looking after us. Greek food is our favourite and we had high expectations. Steki didn't disappoint. Lamb, octopus, taramasalata and Greek salad were the best we've had. Awesome food and place. We both loved it.

Really enjoyed our meal here. Nice to step away slightly from the main drag and enter this unpretentious and attractive restaurant. Great, friendly service and our meal arrived quickly. The roast lamb was a standout and all the dishes were enjoyable. Greek food has a reputation for heaviness but not here and the prices were very reasonable. Definitely coming back.

Absolute waste, the food is a embarasment to Greeks, table service is no good.. no room to eat and tables up against a wall.. had to turn my light on my phone so I could see the menu as there's basically no lighting, and then to be called names by the singer because we weren't a good enough crowd .

My family and I, which were 5 of us attended the restaurant on the 27th of February. The place was absolutely full. There was barely any elbow room and the tables were basically all connected to each other as there was no space to separate the tables. There was no QR code to sign in. Although The food was very tasty and the live music created a very homely atmosphere of Greece, all 5 of us tested positive for Covid after getting the symptoms Over 3 days. Please be aware that for people such as myself who is 25 weeks pregnant with a toddler, it is extremely inconvenient and dangerous if restaurants can’t take the precautions and follow Covid restrictions such as having an entry limit and basic ventilation. It is important for everyone that was there that night if they haven’t already gotten tested to do so and to self isolate.

Not bad food. Great atmosphere, fun place. Love the love the live music. Will be back for sure Thanks

Still the best Greek restaurant for food & music after 30 years. Can't wait to go back on a Saturday night for a dance

Amazing close knit atmosphere. Fun and lively bouzouki and live Greek music. Wonderful and authentic Greek food and dishes. Many memorable nights out. Best enjoyed in a group. Parking is difficult to find. You need to walk a fair bit and find street parking, or park far and walk.

Amazing food and hospitality. Great music definitely go again. The Host Paul and his team go out of there way to make sure you have a gr8 night.

Enjoyed enjoyed the pork yeeros here. Music a tad loud so we sat outside.

We got the GRK feast. Very satisfying meal for a group of people. It has everything you need and gives you an opportunity to try many different things. A+ for Halloumi

Came here for dinner one night and the place was pretty quiet - got seats straight away.

It is your typical Greek menu - from gyros to souvlaki - pretty much anything you want at ridiculously good prices.

Food was delicious and was definitely full after one gyro. I would strongly recommend this place if you’re after a quick, cheap and delicious feed!!

Food recommendation: chicken gyro🍗

Pictured below: chicken gyros with chicken souvlaki and haloumi🥰

The mixed plate was easily enough for two - although at $40, it needs to be. However, it was just tough gyro meat and overcooked souvlaki piled on soggy chips. The bifteki was the exception - wonderfully spiced and cooked medium. I'd happily eat that again but nothing else.

My partner and I had a sensational experience at GRK Souvlaki. The restaurant and the food was so authentically Greek - not to mention the fantastic staff! I highly recommend this place!

Decided to try deliveroo's order ahead and pick up at the restaurant and was treated extremely rude. I gave my name three times to the waiter and was then scolded by another waitress for not providing my name. This is my first and the last visit.

Absolutely incredible — simple baseline food with such delicious garnishes. This place has the best halloumi & feta I’ve ever had! Great value for you money as the portions are a great size (especially the plates). 100% would recommend!

Over the last few years a number of souvlaki bars have begun to open up, giving people the chance to have a slightly healthier option for fast food. GRK is one of the many that have opened and is located just off Botany road in Mascot. With traditional Greek men and woman running the place you know you will find authentic Greek food and that’s what we had.

We had a delicious pork and chicken gyro. The meat was tender and melt in your mouth tasting. Another traditional Greek trait you will find here is to place chips inside with the meat along with salad and a helpful topping of tzatziki. It was super delicious and we have gone back several times. If your not too keen on have a gyro, you can also have platters of food with pita bread, dips, meat and salad to eat how you like.

The service is okay, the staff are sometimes too busy yelling at each other in Greek to be very attentive. The pricing is not bad either with a meal costing around the $15 mark.

Never really disappointed with this food. I have been here quite a few times. I love their gyros and their platter. Decent serving. Very friendly service. Really recommend this place if you are into Greek food. Place is small but its seldom crowded. Good food, good service, good size. :)

Dont know much about Greek food. A year ago, I tried the pork souvlaki, chicken souvlaki and pita bread. The souvlaki was not bad and the pita bread was tasty

This place is close by to my place and I've walked by it multiple times, but never really went in until a few days ago. The smell is always great so I decided to take a closer look. The variety is a bit limited, but the food is good nonetheless and it isn't too expensive either. The cheapest thing on their menu is a single chicken kebab and pita bread combo for $4.5. it isn't as filling as an entire meal but it is definitely more than a snack. I'd say it's a good option for fellow UNSW students living in the area. Cheers.

Fast service, very friendly and lovely to children, felt very welcome here and the food is amazing.
I'm pretty darn sure everything on my plate was fresh and not prepackaged, from perfect hand cut chips to the thick creamy tatziki.
I actually can't fault it at all. It was like a gourmet snackpack and I got carried away with it just like m little miss stuffed her face and was very happy when we left which is what you need in a toddler haha.
Thankyou, we shall be back!!

Ordered the mixed grill and thought it would be just enough for 2 people. Never was i so wrong!!!
the portions were so big it could feed 4 people. My personal favourite was the chicken, it was nice, had great flavour and was not dry at all. The sauces (Tzatziki and mustard) were average. We also ordered an extra greek salad and tarama on the side. The tarama was delicious too and the salad was lacking in salt, however, we had salt shakers on our tables so it was not much of a problem. The bifteki was nice, just a little bit over cooked.

Overall experience was great, music i loved it (being greek myself), service was good and the food was delicious. This place is definitely worth a try.

Souvlaki joint in mascot, easy to park across the road and pop in for a Gyro, (pork or chicken), souvlaki (pork, lamb, kotobacon or vegetarian). The souvlaki can be on a pita or plate. You can also get halloumi, mixed grill, dips and bread, salad, chips etc. I got a chicken gyro with salad (sans chips). The people working there are lovely, traditional greek music playing and about 15 tables to eat in. A really tasty gyro with tomato, onion, tzastiki and chicken. Probably could do with lettuce. The meat was nicely flavoured. For me, the pita bread is a bit thick, but that comes down to personal preference.

Friendly service, simple delicious food and value for money. I ordered takeaway and was ready in lest than 10 min. i don't know much about Greek food, was a good experience. plenty of parking nearby.

This was an ok takeaway. Was really heavy on the salt and the chips weren't cooked enough for my liking. I like them crispier.

We paid for haloumi and I thought we'd get more than 1 slice. Plus some of the mixed meats were a little dry.
This was the one of the best meals I have had so far. The plates are eggsellent and great value and size for the price. I am not normally a fan of salad but the onion and sauces were delightful with the chicken, which was also A+. Will be coming back on a consistent basis!

This place was a great find. It's a very quaint little cafe on a side road In Botany. Judging by the constant flow of takeaways, this must be a popular place among the locals & rightfully so. I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki plate which was massive & delicious. Loved the chips. The chicken skewers were tender, flavorsome & fresh. I'll definitely be back when I'm back in Sydney

Walking distance from home & very satisfying! The staff there are very accommodating. And the food is generous & delicious! My favourite would have to be the chicken wrapped in bacon on skewers! 😍

Definitely recommend this place for a good dinner with friends. Loved the mixed grill plate(32$). Friendly staff. I and my mate were stuffed by the end and it was worth the money spent.

Always good, nice and consistent quality...
Packed with happy customers...
Fantastic Greek salad... Try the Greek yoghurt and sour cherries...
Miss Deliziosa
I'm not sure if I ordered the wrong thing but I didn't really find the wraps anything special (it wasn't too bad but just lacked flavour), the chips could've also done with a bit longer in the fryer as well (I personally like my chips with a crunch).
Superalice
Shared lamb and chicken souvlaki plates ($18 each) with 2 friends, really good meat, sauces and tomato salad! Chips were cold but it was the end of the night. Can also get single skewers for $4.5 or pita for $9. Fun casual spot for a quick dinner, def recommend.

I ordered a lamb Souvlaki wrap the other day, and just realised today that they actually charged me $22 on my credit card instead of $10 ! The wrap was good but not much meat in it..

... Located on King St, this place is very easy to spot. Just look for the most monochrome place along the street. This small restaurant blasts with music that is too loud, in my opinion. But apart from that, our experience was nothing but positive. Staffs were friendly and service was quick ...

We have been to GRK a few times now and have always enjoyed our meals - It is a busy venue but the staff are friendly and always helpful. The food is quite tasty and the portions is sufficient! Overall it is a real good restaurant to go for a quick bite to eat.
Princess_Porky
Got the chicken gyro and lamb souvlaki pita (no lamb gyro 😭) Portion was really really small, but then, it was pretty cheap. Chips were soft and mushy 😂 and the pita bread a bit thick. However, both the meats were fantastic and really flavoursome. Especially the chicken. And fantastic tzatziki. One of the better gyro places in this part of Sydney.

As a Greek who has tasted Greek food in most Western Countries, I have to say, GRK at Mascot is awesome. The Pita Lamb Souvklaki is my favourite. The lamb is cooked to perfection. That said, so it the Pork and Beef. The Bifteki's are great too. What you will get here is quick on the run food (although you can sit inside or out ) - Give it a go, its better than any Burger.

Souvlaki done well. Exceptionally well. Awesomely well.

GRK is staple greek food that delivers a quality cuisine and lots of it. Serving sizes are huge, particularly where a plate is ordered - I mean, just look at the photos!

Staff are very friendly, often dancing around in the kitchen to the pumping Greek sounds.

Exceptional value for money. Fantastic experience.

Finally tried this after reading so many great reviews... bit underwhelmed to be honest. There was nothing wrong with it, it was just average and lacked flavor. The music was too loud, you could not hear properly to order and conversation was impossible.
Mr Red
Small but delicious. Have visited this place a few times over the last few months and it's good honest traditional Greek food! Would recommend the pork gyro with extra tzatziki!

Best Souvlaki!. I work nearby and happen to hit his place up regularly for lunch. You only get a choice of what kind of meat you want in your Gyros or Souvlaki so picky people beware. I have tried the lamb and the chicken and both are fresh and delicious. The bread appears to be baked on premises (I presume, I have not inquired) and is just YUM. Fillings include fries, tzaziki and the occasional tomato along with your freshly cooked meat. Highly recommended.

Greeks everywhere. Came down here after Tany's knowing that GRK does open quite late. Well at about 7.20pm on a Saturday all the tables were full but luckily not many people waiting around for takeaway. Ordered a pork gyro pita and a chicken souvlaki. They gave me a number and there's nowhere really dedicated to hand around. I stayed in the foyer at which stage a huge contingent of Greek people all talking and yelling came to put in their order - not sure whether they were eat in or takeaway as there were no seats. When my order was up, it was too hard to get past all these people so the dude helped come to me half way. Walked back to the carpark and decided to eat on the benches outside Mascot Library in the dying light - this food is best eaten straight away. Yummo all round particularly the chicken souvlaki which came with lemon and pita bread - fresh off the grill it was superb. All these Greek street food places seem to have absolute hordes of people lining up for them and the quality is good so hope the craze continues.

I’ve always imagined gryos to be a Greek version of the Lebanese kebab. Although I have learnt that anything smaller than a Lebanese kebab is known as a ‘spring roll’ to my brother. I ordered the pork gyro, because I am a porkie pig lover. The pita bread is toasted, giving the exterior a little crusty feel, the inside was soft and a little chewy, mmm~ The pork was nice and tender, with soft spice flakes.

Best Souvlaki In Sydney. Been many times very similar as done in Greece, best service, friendly staff could not fault a thing.

FLAWLESS!. I love this place! My group of friends love it so much that we have been here on average twice a week for the last two months. It has definitely become an obsession.

I have tried quite a few other souvlaki restaurants in Sydney and this is most definitely the best and most authentic.

My favourite dish is the pork souvlaki plate. The menu is small but nails it. Go with a group of people and order all the sides including dakos (dry wheat break with crushed tomato, fetta and drizzled in olive oil), the taramasalata, chips with fetta cheese and for dessert, go for the yoghurt with sour cherry and nutella pita.

Its not just about the food though, the people that work here are so lovely and generous, they add so much value to the experience and instantly make you feel welcome.

Still sooooooo good. Have been back 4 times now and it's still fantastic. We've taken other people and they're just as impressed! Now they are going and taking other people that's how good this place is. The staff are so friendly and generous which complements this place.

-----16 Dec, 2014-----

Sooooo good. I went there today for lunch. The service is very good and the food is amazing. Their chips with feta are the best! You have to try them. I had the lamb gyros and it didn't disappoint. The lamb was tender and juicy. The tzatziki was great and the pita was soft and warm and tasty. Can't wait to go back. That's how good this place is!!!

Excellent souvlaki - tastes same as you get in Greece. Great yeeros, Greek salad and chips. Taramosalata home made - just like grandma's. Beautiful Greek yogurt and honey for dessert. Very friendly staff. Definitely coming back for more.
