Review Mascot Charcoal Chickens - Mascot

Maddi Gault
Have ordered a few times from here during my isolation period nearby for covid. The food is so so good, arrives in packaging that keeps the food fresh. There are a lot of food options that I used to have from takeaway shops when I was a child, but don’t usually manage to find them easily anymore. Love this place!!

A delicious chicken and salad pack from here, packed to the max. Generous amount of food given for the price we paid. Worth checking out as a healthier version of fast food. Yours truly @fooderarri

Since moving to Melbourne, Mascot Charcoal Chickens is the one place I have missed the most. Seems impossible to get a decent chicken roll south of the border. It was so nice coming back here to see they still have the same great taste.

Delicious! That's almost enough said but I will go on! Succulent Chicken, Crispy Chicken Chips, great pastas, Salads and Burgers! On top of all that the staff are efficient and friendly every time!

Huge variety of food at affordable prices. Best salads, juicy chickens and always big servings of chips even when buying a small.

Ordered a quarter chicken, a devil wing with two salads. Pumpkin and bean salads with lemon topping. I hate the traditional Australian salads, but these two taste quite refreshing and not bitter at all (because spinach was the only green leaves veggie there). They actually serve salads in a large volume. So my friends were astonished when they saw me finished everything :D

Great food. Shame they have very inconsistent opening hours. This has caused me to arrive during their supposed business hours to find that they have completely shut for the night. Not even packing up, completely shut. This has happened many, many times. One can only be disappointed so many times. I will not be returning.

The chips had amazing flavour, super tasty & crispy. GREAT... We were very hungry and ordered 1 Portuguese style chicken with chilli sauce(lightly). I asked the lady at the counter to separate 1 quarter with no chilli, the girl asked me if I wanted leg or wing with NO CHILLI. We drove 2 km to the place where I was visiting and the chicken was COLD, the chilli sauce has more lemon flavour than chilli and was soaking in sauce. The quarter wasn't the one we asked. Unfortunately we ordered Portuguese and we got a plain roasted chicken that had not even a bit of salt. Really bad. Very unhappy and hungry family. I had to cook something at home. 👎☹

Had the beef burger which was good. But the side of chips were quite cold and I didn’t notice till I was driving off. Always very busy with a line. But were still fast with making the burger.

This is a pretty charcoal chicken, they have all the favourites. The chickens are nice and the chips go done well too; perfect for lunch or dinner.

Fantastic Charcoal Chicken that is cooked using REAL charcoal just like the old days. Family business friendly service and great chicken chips that are cooked fresh to order.

Gets busy on the weekend and sometimes there might be a wait for fresh chicken as they can't keep them on the warmer long enough.

Highly recommended!

My big ordered food from work and forgot to take out my number on the order and this unbelievably rude woman called me and asked what salad I wanted so I told her to call my bf'd number and she rudely refused and ranted how busy they are and she can't etc etc etc. I work at a high volume Customer service industry and this is not an excuse to be rude to someone who had nothing to do with the order, invaded my privacy and didn't care she called the wrong person!!!!! Whoever you are well
You have ruined my relaxing day friggin day off!!!

Great service great food! People are so friendly in this store! It also one of the best charcoal chicken I had in Sydney! I love every salad they had here. And chip is so tasty as well!

Seriously the best takeaway chicken I've ever had! The chicken is a decent size, not a scrawny bird. It is juicy and flavourful. For $35 we get a large chook, huge amount of chips, 3 toums (garlic sauce) 4 full sized warm Greek pitas and pickles. Delicious and generous servings. Great and efficient service too.

Well oiled machine. Came here dodging the rain for dinner. This place really runs very smoothly handling the multiple customers and multiple alterations to orders with ease. I changed up my order twice and not a problem. Place is cash only though. Followed the lead of others and got the portuguese chicken burger combo and a chicken corn roll. Can't say these were world beating so maybe the chicken alone is a better option. They were very particular about withholding the salt at my request and the garlic sauce I ordered was quite strong but very good - went well with the chips.

One of the best Charcoal chicken you can have in Sydney, Try out the salads too, even the Chilli sauce they serve with the chicken is brilliant!

They only Accept Cash

Very friendly staff it's as if we're family. Food was great too

I thought the Charcoal Chicken ($14.20 whole) had a nice flavour but could have been a bit more moist for my liking and I'd like to try the Portuguese Chicken next time to compare. There's quite a few salad options which is good to see and I went for a half-half of Greek and Garden Salad ($7.50 large) which was pretty fresh and tasty and had a nice dressing on it.

Good charcoal chicken. Came here for dinner and had the half chicken and chips. The food was good and the service was wonderful too. Prices are cheap as well.

Don't forget they have nice salads too!. I have lived in Mascot for around 10 years now and have visited this place countless times.

Yes the BBQ chickens are delicious. You can always tell if a BBQ chicken is going to be nice just by looking at it. Some charcoal chicken shops (and dare I say supermarkets) roast/BBQ the life out of them til all you're left with is a small chook with dry skin & chewy meat.

You won't have that problem here. This place knows what they are doing. And their Portuguese style chickens are also very nice with lemon garlic sauce. The chips are nice too but they are big servings so i suggest ordering a small size.

But the one thing people don't mention are the salads. They have a great salad section with plenty of options - seafood salad, greek salad, chicken avocado salad, etc. And they are not stingey on the ingredients either unlike some other places.

They also do chicken/ roast rolls, roast potatoes, burgers, pasta bakes, etc.

For me it's become a reliable go-to place in Mascot when I don't have time to make dinner or i'm craving a Portuguese chicken burger for lunch.

Best chickens in Sydney!. Went to Mascot Charcoal yesterday and was impressed with the vibe I received from the staff upon arrival. The service was quick and easy. The chickens were some of the best I have tried and the chips and chicken salt were off this planet. There is also a wide variety of fresh salads and fresh homemade hot dishes.

Seen the review of other people and thinking the best chicken, went there yesterday. The price was cheap, ordered half chicken rice meal: with 2 roasted potato, a salad of your choice, fried rice, and half chicken. With the price of $12.50. And was enough for two people! Good value meal! Chicken was quite nice, but I'm thinking which sauce to have that with?

Beautiful chicken. I was recommended to go to this place by a girlfriend. This was a good 9 months ago and I literally can't eat chicken anywhere else! Every time I'm out to dinner at a resturant with my husband and whenever il order chicken it's always been a let down! Even my little ones are hooked, they love the chips with gravy! My hat goes off to the young owners of the business, they seem like very hard workers and always smiling! Keep up the great work guys...

The best charcoal chicken in Sydney imho. The staff are nice too!
The Chicken Shop
I've been to a lot of chicken shops in my life and this one would have to be the best I have come across! The chicken is so tasty and fresh. The salad display is great and they have so many homemade hotmeals. I ask myself what is the point of cooking when I can have anything from this shop! From chickens, chips, salads, hamburgers, chicken burgers and salads this place rules.

The best charcoal chicken I have tasted hands down.
If you love chicken a trip to Mascot Charcoal Chicken is an absolute must.
