Review Bourke And Hare - Mascot

4.5 Stars. Everyone who lives at Mascot Square will know That Place. Incredibly handy location, friendly staff and good quality food. The cafe is West/South facing and gets more afternoon sun, so it can get a bit cold in Winter.

"That Place" a wonderful hidden away spot in Mascot, for an early morning business Bx networking meeting or just outside the children's playground. Just perfect for mothers wanting the mid morning catchup coffee with friends, while the kids play together. For me the Big Breakfast hit the spot.

Nice, vibey and friendly enviroment. I only wanted a pancake but saw someone ordered a plate of steak and my eyes went 😃 it was WOW!!! Super tender, perfectly seasoned, good mixed of salads and chips. The juice was so fresh! I am so coming back for the pancake and latte next time - and the steak - again!

Coffee 5/5 Whole egg omelette 3/5 I feel it’s bit of overpriced. Açai bowl 4/5 average

By far one of the best cafes i have been to in Syd. This great cafe has many good reasons to visit it. 1. Food was tasteful and generous portions 2. Customer service is A++ 3. Atmosphere around is nice. You can definitely pick up on the positive vibe between the staff. 4. Finally if you have kids, this cafe is great as it is located in front of a playground. I highly recommend this place

Great coffee in a great location. No highchairs (hint Ikea!). Hubby had breakfast roti, very tasty with crunchy coated eggs. I had corn fritters. Tasty but really needs salty bacon or haloumi to balance the sweetcorn and relish. Happy it is finally open. Good luck.

Always excellent service and delicious food. Crumbed poached egg roti Benedict is our go to brunch and I love their mulled coffee in winter and lychee tea in summer.

Great coffee, food and staff very onto it (know what they are doing) ! Highly recommend.

Great location and food but seriously need to reconsider their music playlist. In a location next to a playground with multiple kids there playing explicit lyric music is grossly inappropriate. Whilst I appreciate them changing this when I asked I have still had my 4yr old daughter asking what f*****g nigger means all afternoon.

Great location handy for families. Kids have place to run around whilst mums and dads can enjoy great coffee and food. My new favourite spot.

Food is nothing but amazing each time I come! Had the strawberry milkshake and was so fresh tasting, not a mouthful of sugar like other places! Also try the chicken as it's the bomb! Staff and atmosphere are great as well! Well done guys!

After passing you each day on the way to work I was finally able to visit this weekend. Your fantastic coffee was a sign that this was going to be a great experience. Our breakfast dishes were delicious and I especially loved your rosti. All staff were friendly and attentive and we had a very enjoyable morning.A return visit is definitely on the cards.

Have been twice in the last few days, I highly recommend the Corn Fritters and Banana Bread with Maple Butter. Friendly staff and a nice quiet, relaxed location. Oh and the coffee is to die for!

Looks like the smashed avocado latte sippers enjoyed themselves. I must admit it was pretty good.

Dropped in for lunch and had the spiced chicken sandwich. I was a little worried when I saw pineapple as an ingredient as it can sometimes overpower the dish, but the flavour mixed beautifully with the Spanish onion and lime sour cream. Delicious! #nomnom

Great burgers, Awesome Atmosphere! Today I had the chicken sandwich, which was perfect for an early lunch. currently a special on T/A coffees, so get in quick!

Popped in for a quick take away coffee and lunch. Their chicken sandwich is AMAZING! (Not your standard sandwich!) Excellent service and the coffee is perfect. Highest recommendations!

Had a birthday party here. We tried the roti benedict with salmon and the beef burger. The roti benedict is a creative take of the classic egg benedict. They crumb fried soft boiled eggs with smoked salmon on top of roti. Nice fusion of western and eastern touch. The beef patty in the burger is juicy. Just wished there were more chips!

For drinks, we tried the house brewed soda and iced decaf mocha (not on the menu but they were willing to make it for us). Both are lovely!

Another great cafe in Mascot! Their avocado toast is one of the most unique ones I’ve ever had, especially with the addition of the sun dried tomatoes. I’ve never had avo toast with sun dried tomatoes before, but absolutely loved the combo in this dish! The portion sizes were very generous as well, the dish came with two pieces of toast which was quite filling.

This place is the best! The food is great and they're always tweaking the menu to keep things exciting. Our current favourites are the chilli scramble and the chipotle baked eggs 😋 Andy, the owner, is a lovely guy who makes the experience even more wonderful 😊 there's a kids playground right outside too if you've got little ones that you'd like to entertain!

Ez from the train station. Some free street parking. Great for families with children as there is a little playground right next to it and outdoor seatings. Parents can have a cuppa while watching the kids play. Very friendly staff. Music and volume perfect. Easy toilet access. I ordered a large flatwhite on their normal blend - not my cuppa as its quite burned and the acidity is quite high on the tongue. Had their French toast for brekky. Ì like it that the sweetness is just nice. However..... I don't feel the egg in the toast. So it feels more like toast with jam, berries and caramel. Its still a good dish but no custard-y that you would want in a french toast. To sum it up, food is simple but high points for the environment.
My wife and I love this place. It has great coffee and now they offer wine on some evenings. It is right next to a park, so it is a great place to watch the kids while having breakfast or having a drink. A must try for all families in the area.

Lovely cafe in mascot. It’s beneath an apartment block and close to the station. It’s was a seriously hot day so I got the passion fruit earl Grey iced tea which was a lovely flavour! I was after a healthy lunch so ordered a healthy bowl with kale, sweet potato, corn, yogurt and chicken - I chose the poached chicken. I loved this and would certainly recommend it. They also have an interesting roti dish that I’m keen to try. It was pretty quiet so I was served very fast and the staff were lovely too.

Bourke & Hare is a sleepy neighbourhood local in a quiet corner of Mascot central. Adjacent to the park on Church Ave, it's great for kids with plenty of outdoor seating overlooking the grounds. That said, it can be less than peaceful come weekends. The food here is simple and no fuss, and fairly light on if you find the overly decadent cafes all a little too rich at times. Whilst the milk based coffee blend is often pretty mild, they do a some great filter / batch brew coffee often on rotation. If you're not a filter fan I recommend sampling it here as it may well change you're usual go-to.

(Late post) been here twice as it is a walking distance to home.. but they didnt disappoint in both occasions. My girlfriend is crazy about the maple butter served with banana bread.. but my recommendation is the roti benedict, like omg its so yummy.. coffee there is nice too. For me this cafe is a hidden gem.. hopefully they continue to keep the standard and bring up more delicious food ☺️

Excellent coffee and tea, friendly staff and vibrant atmosphere. The food is always excellent - the roti benedict with the panko crumbed poached eggs and sriracha hollondaise is incredible.

The coffee here is consistently excellent. They offer an all day breakfast which offer the usual suspects done well plus a few other interesting ones. The fried chicken is probably one of their real standouts. All in all it's well priced, fast service and a great place for a casual meal.

They are doing great things with the menu, ingredients are always fresh and they're doing great things with the menu. The best coffee in the area, and probably in Sydney. Great staff, cool music and a funky vibe.

Bourke and Hare is a gorgeous new cafe located in a newly developed residential area in Mascot. The thick timber framing along the cafe’s exterior stand tall and bold, and when we discovered that they had been hand built by the owners, it really became obvious how much love and pride goes into Bourke and Hare every day. The rustic furnishings and brick counters were also built by the owners, but the cafe’s decor is not all that is impressive about Bourke and Hare. Sydney’s cafe scene is very crowded and owners really need to be able to stand out to survive. B&H is the complete package in my opinion: beautiful food, reasonable prices, a handsome fit out, lovely staff, and strong branding and integrity.

The menu features some familiar cafe dishes but also offers some interesting (and delicious) twists. The “Roti Benedict” was an absolute highlight. Panko-crumbed poached eggs, smoked bacon, sriracha hollandaise, roti, and toasted sesame is definitely not something you see on your average menu, and I was glad it did not disappoint -- it was simply awesome and worth visiting just for that. The fried chicken burger was also fantastic -- in fact, a lot of the popular burger joints in Sydney could learn a thing or two from B&H. The crumb on the fried chicken was outrageously crunchy and the whole burger stayed together amazingly well despite the two big pieces of chicken stacked on top of each other (the fact that this burger was only $15 seals the deal). Pancakes are of course a classic, but when done well, they can wow just as much as a more out-there dish. These pancakes were soft and fluffy, and were topped with berry coulis, fresh berries, and a healthy topping of cream and Persian fairy-floss -- a perfect sweet ending to a wonderful afternoon.

The atmosphere at B&H was so nice, you could easily spend a few hours enjoying the food and surroundings. The cafe overlooks a small park which makes it an ideal place to bring the family as well as for some people-watching and dog-spotting. I can definitely see Bourke and Hare becoming a destination cafe for foodies and weekend brunchers, as well as serving as a convenient stop to grab a morning coffee.
