It's definitely 5 STARS, this place. I'll repeat what Kyle below me says about it, but the only difference is what I will say, is that it definitely has the best 'tails(as most Greek-owned "F & C's" say for fish cocktails, short), I've ever eaten. Their fish is generally Gem - and what a "GEM" it is!!... The best Gem I've ever had. It just melts in your mouth. Their chips are that clean, with no marks, and always sooo fresh. Their burgers are definitely the best I've ever had, and sooooo FRESH too - all their ingredients!!! They just keep it so simple. I've been going to this place for over 5 years, since reading reviews of finding out about the place on the Net. I can't say anything bad about this place, as it is my favorite place to eat at. I always recommend people to come here, and tell me that they are never disappointed. This place is definitely a hidden "gem" in Sydney.
PS. Thanks Wayne for the recommendations...you're a champ, mate. Go the ALL BLACKS!!!... ;)
Best fish burger I've ever had - fresh salad greens, succulent fish, and the taste of it beats any burger-joint burger hands down!!

Puts other fish and chip shops to shame! The fish quality is superior, the batter is amazing. Service is prompt and the people are super friendly. Would definitely come back.
Love this place.
Best Fish n Chips in the eastern suburbs.
Couldn't have picked a better place to be on Good Friday..!! Thanks all
I've gone there intermittently for years and find their fish and chips -- and the scotch filet burgers (with tomato sauce and their own mayonnaise) excellent.
Their own tartare sauce is pretty good too.
And the people are always friendly. A great place. I am trying to work out how to drag the whole thing to the other side of the Prince's Highway so I can go more often.
Hands down, without question, best Fish and Chips in Sydney, fresh, tasty, Crispy batter none of that thick gluggy stuff, these guys know their stuff.
Taste just as if I was at home having dinner with my family! Was even more excited it was in paper. Can't wait to go back best fish&Chips I have had in the 5 years I have lived here in Sydney

Even got a beautiful Mothers Day Koha of beautiful RockyRoad
Was the best fish and chips I've had I would drive all that way to buy it again
Very busy for a Monday night. 2nd time we had been here, and never fails to deliver authentic Kiwi Fish & Chips. These are the best fish and chips in Coogee!
Excellenttttt.....soooo goooood fish.... I’m not a big fish fan but I loved the fried fish, it was delicious.
I've been visiting this place in its various locations for almost ten years and it's one of my favourite places to eat in Sydney. I highly recommend everything they serve!
Best calamari I've ever had, melt in your mouth and very flavoursome!
They are the best, just like I remembered from back in NZ. We had the oysters, mussels, fish, battered sausages and fat chips. We'll be back. Thank you.
Amazing food! Best Fish & Chips Sydney has to offer! Great fish, great burgers, great portion sizes and incredibly friendly staff. You're missing out if you don't stop in!
Great calamari rings on delivery, crunchy, thick, really amazing crumb, probably the best ive ever had. Also great for value, i ordered 9 pieces just for myself, ended up sharing with my psrtner and we had 2 pieces left (we had some pasta and veggies as well, not just the takeaway), they are really meaty. will try something else next time.
So this place was on a itinerary for the day we saw it on a article which was timeout recommended. And boy was it good! The fish is huge, even the fish cocktails are big.
After a long wait we finally managed to make it to this place which serves kumara chips! Sweet Potato chips with fish... clean place, courteous staff, yumm yumm grilled fish and kumara chips! Perfect meal for a winter night!
Fish burger is incredible. Best in Sydney
Fish and chips is also great but not as standout amazing as the fish burgers.
Damn this place is good
As this is a kiwi fish and chip shop some things are done differently which isn’t a bad thing. The fish is always cooked beautifully but we wouldn’t recommend getting any extras just stick to classic fish and chips here.

Damn this place is good, like you’re eating it across the ditch. Light crispy batter served on different varieties of fish to your liking accompanied by homemade tartare sauce is bound to be a winner
Certainly the best Fish & Chip place in the area by a big stretch. Not always the easiest place to get a park and they can certainly get busy at times.
Love the crispy batter they use and wrapping them up old school in paper reminds me of my childhood
Usually go the Kiwi Snack Pack which a lot of people might struggle to finish so less snack more a substantial meal the fish cocktails are big crispy and flavoursome.
Have not tried a burger yet which look old school and a trip down memory lane.
The fish was good quality, the batter was light - crispy in some places but easily fell apart or got soggy in others, the calamari was in an unusual light batter and was a bit stringy, and the kiwi influence means kumara chips are available and they were great. The prices aren't the lowest but the serves are quite large so it's good value overall.
It’s been my go to fish shop for lunch / dinner. Located along botany road and parking during noon could be a tad difficult but night is easy. Try to avoid the busy lunch/dinner crowd as you might need to wait longer for your food to be cooked. I would highly recommend the jumbo fish burger $12 which is all you need to be satisfied. Even the fish and chip is great. Even better if they give you complimentary tartare sauce to go with it.
The batter is so light and crispy even if you do takeaway it will still be crispy till you get back. Staff are all so friendly and efficient. The shop might be small but it’s a no fuzz shop.
I've been a couple of times to this local gem bordering Rosebery and Mascot and also the one they used to have in Coogee. This time around is a quick and simple bite with the kids for dinner. Little Nugget Snack - 5 nuggets, half chips, sauce ($8) add Crumbed Calamari ($3, 3 pieces) hits the spot with nice tender calamari and some kid pleasing chicken nuggets. A slice of lemon wouldn't have gone astray. I got some sauce from the large bottle sitting on the counter for our dine in dinner. It's a narrow shop so the large communal bench seating for dine in can get a bit awkward and squashy. Plenty of free street parking if you can find it as it can be a challenge with the popular Newmarket Hotel and Manhattan Superbowl on the same block.
The interior was gloomy and required a change of colouring to liven the store. But the friendly service more than made up for it.
All food were served wrapped in paper. Unraveling opened to a perfectly fried fish fillet with some generic chips. Fish was piping hot when served and had a beautiful crunch when biting in. Fish was firm and fresh but lacked seasoning to bring out the flavours. Chips were average and inconsistent, some more crispy than others. The fish batter was what really stood out for me.
Wow, this place was great! It has been the best food I've had in Australia! The location is small and though you could eat there it could be tight depending on how busy it is. Also, the portion size was great for the price! I highly recommend this place for amazing battered fish, crab, shrimp, calamari, and chips (or fries as I know them)! I'm definitely going back before I leave!
Nice vibes. Very friendly staff. I ordered a Jumbo Kiwi Burger ($11) and small chips ($4) with a can of coke ($2.50). Grand total was $17.50 . And I can say that this money was well spent. Chips were fresh, crunchy and not too greasy. Burger was 100%. Also what I like is that the staff care about the preparation of food, the shop is also very clean well ventilated.
Would recommend for those looking for a satisfying lunch or dinner.
Best fish and chips in sydney. Wrapped in paper crispy and soft sweet fish.
Gosh! Definitely going back for more!
My wife enjoyed it so much so as me.
If you want your chips extra crispy you can just ask the cook and he will make it extra for you!
Thanks guys great service!
We'd been following these guys on Instagram for a while and finally got to try them out on a cold Friday night.
We both ordered fish burgers, and they did not disappoint. The fish was cooked to perfection, falling apart and melting in your mouth. I had the jumbo, and the tartare sauce, cheese and fried egg went great together with the fish. Definitely one of the best fish burgers I've had in a long time.
The potato fritters and kumara fries were crispy and delicious. Not too oily either. It's rather small, with not much room to eat in but most customers pop in for takeaway. Staff were friendly and the wait for food was reasonable. Parking was a tad difficult though.
If you want good quality fish and chips at a great price we'd recommend trying this place out. We'll definitely be back!
Great little fish and chip joint. Deliciously light and puffy calamari, melt in your mouth fish and chips that aren't drowning in oil! Very well priced with generous serves. Friendly staff.
Great home style burgers and seafood. A really well done classic fish and chip shop. The kumera fries are a bonus. If you want a burger or fish and chips done old school and done well this is the place
Battered az. Came here for dinner early so not many other customers. There are only 2 bench tables inside and one table for two on the outside. Fair bit of oil on the paper as I ate but all good. Batter is fairly light - fish cake was really good and the NZ potato fritter was thin but great. I really liked the battered sav because it was big and weighty. Been to too many other places where they either serve half a small sausage or charge like the (Traditional) earth. They've got most of the standards here as well as some sort of NZ lemon soft drink. Super friendly staff.
If you grew up getting chips from the corner milk bar wrapped in butcher paper - you will LOVE this place. 10 out of 10. No stupid small, medium, large boxes, just a big scoop of chips for $3 (minimum chips) or 2, or 3 scoops. This is my childhood chip shop reincarnated. I will be back there every weekend until the cardiac arrest kills me.
Hits the spot!. Super oily fish and chips for some reason it just hits the spot on a rainy day...the people who work there are super friendly but not too in your face and they provide great cheap and sinfully delicous fried food. If you are looking for some good fish and chips then this is the place to go. It is a bit on the oily side like i stated before but the flavours make up for it. :)
Jumbo Fish Burgers are great. Batter is light and it's all freshly cooked. Prices are on the high side. One complaint is they RARELY have 1.25 litre bottles of diet (yeah I know 'diet' in a fish n chip shop) drinks. They have 1.25 litre drinks as part of their packs but don't provide a decent variety.
Really friendly folks though.
The jumbo kiwi fish burger is a winner! Thanks for a delicious feed!
Just like the Papamoa Food Bar. We are long standing supporters of this place. The main reason is that it is comparable to the Fish n chips you get in NZ which is so very different in taste to Australia. Over the years the prices have gone up a lot and the portion sizes have shrunken noticeably but we keep going back. The main reason is for the batter. Pure and simple. Batter doesn't get any better than is in its taste and texture. Unlike most Aussie shops the fish is not reheated and this is what you pay for. The Potato fritters are pretty special also although the hotdog on a stick kiwi style has disappeared.
Supreme country beef burger is the best burger in Sydney, probably Australia. Nomnomnom
Country beef burger is a winner !
Awesome fish and chip joint made popular by their jumbo kiwi fish burgers with soft egg and cheese. Fish & chips and all the regular fixtures are available. They also have kumera; sweet potato chips. Parking can be scarce but it's well worth it. Friendly and efficient staff.
I never give a review on my favourite places to eat, as I like to keep such as a secret. But this is an exception, as I've eaten here since 2012, as of finding the place by mistake. And definitely is a 'Gem'. (It's been around since 2004.) I just can't recommend these guys enough.
Located on Botany Rd in Rosebery / Nth Mascot, right near Gardeners Rd. The best 'plain' hamburger from a take-away place I've had since the turn of the millennium - the 21st century. The freshest ingredients and buns. I always go for the 'Country style' burger. (~ Make sure u get the young kiwi guy that's on, or Dallas the older Kiwi lady or Chanelle too, to cook and make your burger. These 3 make the burgers like the original owner did, who is also a Kiwi, but has now moved and relocated to Hawaii. **Note: The business is now owned by the nearby Newmarket Hotel. ~) I will hardly go anywhere else for a burger. I don't believe in these 'craft-like' custom made burgers, where they stack ingredients like towers, in burgers. I just want a simple burger with a bit of salad.. a normal burger.
Their chips are great - clean cut, and even their Kumara [sweet potato] chips are to die for. 😋..🥰 As well as their fish; but I generally get their fish cocktails [Gem fish - not too 'fishy' in taste] - they're as big as your hand. They also have Barramundi in their fish alone pieces, as well. The business also sells their own tartare sauce in lots, as well as the tasty & refreshing "L & P Lemon & Paeroa" soft drink from NZ.
PS. To further add... If u like stacked up burgers with much topping / ingredients that seem to be stuck with melted cheese, and / or are sooo damn runny, and even soggy,... don't go to this place‼ The only fast-food chain burger place I go to in Australia is, "Grilled". Otherwise, I go to a local pub/hotel place.
Man these guys have the best fish n chips and burgers🔥🔥🔥🔥every thing is fresh. And it's a bonus having imported seafood and beverages straight from the mother land of nz. These guys are a family owned business, and they are the most beautiful people you could ever come across. So warm and welcoming to everyone. If you see this logo anywhere in the world . Stop on and grab a bite. You won't regret it. Best food ever.
Recommend the fish n chips, it is the best in Sydney. Freshly battered fish and nice thick cut fish. The hot chips are soft inside and crunchy outside, best combo and cooked perfectly. Definitely worth the 15mins wait, delicious and authentic kiwi style, served in traditional butchers paper.
Excellent service! With a simple order error which is understandable anyway, they not only delivered the correct one but gave me a nice surprise of extra chocolate pizza! Thanks so much! You guys are awesome!
Best fish and chips in sydney. Same location over 23 years.
Closest fish and chips to NZ ones I've ever tasted in Sydney. 100% recommend. I travelled all the way from Castle hill. But it was worth it ☺
