Review The Thai Mascot - Mascot

Sharron X
Really tasty yellow curry with nice chunky pieces of vegetables. However, the pineapple fried rice and pad kee mao were a bit stingy on meat (about 5 pieces) and vegetables. This is in contrast to most other Thai joints which pack in the crisp, vibrant veg and that's something I love about Thai food. Good frying skill on the rice - all grains loose and separate, decent char. However, pad kee mao should be spicy and this one didn't have even a hint of heat to it unfortunately, and no basil flavour.

Curry puff very expensive and small $8 😵‍💫 Curry puff at taste of Thai restaurant $4 and you get more food 😵

The previous review is right. The pad Thai is white, not brown. Tastes not bad but definitely could be better.

Nice food, quick service and cooked just behind the counter. There's not much seating but this a good little 'hole in the wall' type restaurant.

Poor service and food quality. Ordered thai milk tea along with chicken satay and chicken pad thai through Uber eat, however received completely different drink with no courtesy note/call to inform this change. Glad they refunded this. And the pad thai was so bland, few strips of chicken with a truck load of pad thai noodle. Worse pad thai ever.

Ordered from them near their closing hours and they food prepared was very poor. Pad thai was so-so and they even changed my order to something else without even informing me!?? Very frustrated and not gonna buy from them anymore.

Shocking customer service, delivery drivers refuse to come to door and hang up on customers!

Extremely rude customer service by the old man who works there. The food is alright, but it was ruined by the extremely obnoxious moron who works there.

The hokkien chicken noodles i ordered were oily and salty and had the least amt of soy sauce and spices. Apart from three or four chunks of chicken and probably half a scrambled egg, all it had was a small piece of cauliflower, two small pieces of brocolli and a basil leaf. Would never order again from here.

Terrible Service. We gave them a decent order for takeaway. They insisted we pay $1 for an extra plastic container by eftpos, they tried to overcharge us. Had to ask for cutlery. Food was really oily. Not coming back here.

Great authentic Thai food with really value for money. The service is also very friendly and feel welcome here. We ordered gravy noodle, crispy chicken and Spicy fried rice and all are good. We definitely will come back.

Ordered from here using UberEats one night whilst in Sydney.

The food was prepared promptly and delivered quickly. We ordered Pad Thai and Satay Noodles. Both were very nice tasting with nice complimenting flavours.

Recommended!

This place is a family favourite of ours! We enjoy the food but getting to know the family that owns/runs the place makes the experience so much better! They always serve us with a smile! My fave is their hokkien noodles in oyster sauce.

Had dinner here last night and it was ok. We started off with the mixed entree which was nice. I ordered chicken satay stir fried and it was ok. The sauce had water in it and wasn't properly mixed so the water floated at the bottom. My bf got the Choo Chee Curry with fish fillet and we were expecting the fish to be fresh but it was battered and fried and hard to cut and eat. Not the best that I've had. But the service was lovely.

Ordered lunch special stir fried chili basil chicken with rice at $9. Usually this dish is stir fried with fresh Thai chilies but instead I received a chili flakes in soy sauce on the side. Overall dish was pretty average tasting. The rice was very dry and although vegetable was fresh and cooked well, chicken breast pieces didn't taste very fresh, it had that slightly gamy/reheated flavor. I doubt I would return to dine again.

We have just moved to Mascot recently & fell in love with The Thai Mascot's food. Warm atmosphere & very friendly people. Our favourite local restaurant! You won't be disappointed..

Awesome Pad Siew!. It's rare that you find Pad Siew with good Wok "Hei" (Good char from high heat). This shop has consistently good Pad Siew. I also enjoy the Choo Chee. The fish and prawn version in particular. Service here is always quick and good. This place is cheap and cheerful. I visit here more than I should!

Stayed at a nearby airport hotel and got takeaway. Cash only.
Garlic prawns were delicious, curry puffs tasty, and green chicken curry ok.

Hideously rude old cook. Similar to a previous reviewer's experience, the older cook was shockingly rude to us, repeatedly asked us 'when are you leaving?' and told us to take our meal away 'as there will be more customers coming anyway'. We were friendly and polite towards the staff and did not do anything to warrant any such abuse as we received today. We left stunned and speechless.

Horrendous Attitude. Just finished a meal at the Thai Mascot where I received shocking attitude from the owner. Unable to finish my meal, I asked for a takeaway container where I was asked for 50cents. I remarked that it was really expensive for a container but still paid it anyway whereupon the owner just told me to "Don't fkin come back". Wow... just wow. If I gave him any attitude at all and he used that swear word at me, I would have accepted it. But for him to swear at me out of the blue, just unacceptable. The basil and chilli chicken was nice but not THAT nice to warrant such bad service.

Nice Thai food, and great value. Place is small and has a lot of character, like the ones in Thailand.
