I dined in here in Jan and the food here is very tasty and we loved everything but the serving sizes and amount of meat is way too small. I will be back when it's better value for money.
Cost and enjoyable Thai restaurant. Authentic dishes and caring service. Book early to get a table or takeout. Recommended for a small group as tables are usually for 4 . Our local Thai.
Very homely and cute Thai restaurants on the street of Maylands. We had the Exotic seafood in red curry with Jasmine rice. The quantity was great and value for money. They also serve Jasmine tea. The staff is polite.
I’ve been coming here for years hands down the best Thai food NOR. Delivery is 2.50 what more could you ask for? The chicken cashew nuts and the curries are to die for.
A quiet night in and so we decided to order in. Don’t let the images distract you. This is good, simple and tasty Thai. Friendly, helpful and hospitable receptionist. We ordered Pad Thai vegetarian, stuffed chicken wings and a chicken kapow with the only serve of rice possible (for $2.50 why not). It was hot on time and delicious. The wings (2) for $6 were crispy golden with a rare balance of herbs , veg and meat. The not on the menu vego Pad Thai was tasty greens and mixed veg packed with perfect amount of lubrication coating the noodles. As for the Kapow. Don’t expect a hot and spicy dish. This was a soy based tasty jus. Plenty of perfectly cooked chicken pieces with two large pieces of broccoli and other mixed veg. All for $43. Yes worth repeating. Only improvement I’d hoe for would be the inclusion of napkins and eco cutlery.
This is a very small restaurant with wonderful Thai food that has never disappointed me. The staff are great and they go out of their way to help you. The price was reasonable with two people having two courses each, entrees were Satay Chicken x 4 sticks and a Combo which was a sample of 4 diferent items, mains were Tom Ka Curry, Masaman Curry and it came in at $60. Definately have no hesitation in recommending Ploy Thai.
I have never eaten at the Ploy Thai, but often get takeout from there. The red duck curry is to die for... the meat is so tender and the sweetness of the lychee and pineapple makes the whole dish pop. I also love their pad thai - quite authentic and thoroughly delicious.
Love the food and the service. We had the fish cake fir starter (so good) and for mains the duck red curry w lychee, pineapple tomato and coconut milk, vegetarian stirfry veggies and thai beef salad. He found the red curry a bit too sweet but i thought it was perfect ( so clearly a personal taste issue). Both the curry and the salad were very generous w the meat. We also got 2x rice which was basically a "bottomless" serve . They were extremely accommodating and gave us our favorite table when we called to book. Recommend you book though as is tiny restaurant and very popular! All together incl corkage came to $56.
The food here isn't the best Thai I've ever had but it's affordable and delicious. Service is always good. Would be nice if they added gluten free labels to the menu.
Lovely food. Well priced. My kids enjoyed the masaman curry and the Pad Thai. We will definitely eat there again. It's not a very large restaurant and they do not stay open late but perfect for family dinner and informal cheerful meal with friends.
Best stuffed chicken wings ever!!! Been going to ploy Thai for years :) great food, great prices. Will always return and continue to introduce people to this great restaurant.... it isn't fancy but so so delicious.
Amazing! Best Thai I have had in a long time and amazing value for money. They even do delivery! This is a repeat for me. Try the green curry - it's the best 👌🏻
I absolutely love the food from this place super authentic and delicious !!! I love the Tom yum soup from here and the price is super cheap!
Fantastic place for an inexpensive dinner out, they also offer BYO with no corkage fee.
We ordered 1 curry, 1 stir fry and 1 rice for two people, we went home with two containers of left overs.
Staff also extremely friendly
The best thai I've had in a long time! Pure amazingness. Pad Chicken - so good and fresh and zesty and nutty and yummy. This place is very generous ingredient wise and my dish was packed with cashews. Such a lovely texture against the soft noodles. Also tried the Vegetarian Green Curry, it was creamy, slightly spicy and full of fresh veg.
Delicious food. Great flavours and speedy delivery. A definite fave! The satay sticks and sauce were awesome, fresh stuffed wings and yummy red curry
Love it here! Been coming here for a couple years now! Amazing food and service and price! Some of my favourites are pad Thai, red curry duck and mussman curry beef. Best Thai in Perth!
Small but enticing little restaurant. The food was simply delicious, easily taken number one spot on my list for Thai restaurants in Perth. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and good sized meals, with "free refills" of rice. They have many healthy/vegan options, veggie curries are top notch. 9/11, fit for a president.
Absolutely Delicious! Nice little restaurant with very tasty food. Nice serving size, not too big not too small.
Tamarind prawns were tummy!! :)
My favourite Thai in Perth! Reasonably priced, polite staff and the perfect option for delivery if you don't want to leave the house! Chicken green curry is the best and the chicken satay stick entree is such a bargain!!!
There is a reason why this is the best rated restaurant in Maylands. It's great !! Small, quirky but offers great food at real value. It's BYO but if you forget then there is a BWS a minutes walk ! Pity they don't open for lunch as it's a local to my work.
Last week I spent 5 minutes on the phone trying to order half a serving of rice with my red curry duck. I was willing to pay the full $2.50, but their servings are too large for me and I just didn't want to waste a bunch of rice. We couldn't negotiate a rice treaty on this occasion, so there's still half a tub of rice in my fridge if anyone wants it. That has nothing to do with my rating, I just thought it was a fun anecdote.
Small intimate restaurant with beautiful Thai food. You have to book weekends as so small. Nice ambiance. Never had a bad meal yet, Red Duck Curry a favourite with everyone I think and we like the Massaman dishes a lot also. BYO Good value here.
Recommend this restaurant, we had a great experience! We went there Easter Monday night. Food was beautiful. The stuffed chicken wings and spring rolls were delicious. The green chicken curry had the right amount of spice/heat and the pad thai was beautiful.
I recently took my partner here for his birthday dinner after a friend had shown me this place a couple of months back. Both visits were outstanding. The food is incredible, stand out dishes so far is the red curry duck and the choo chee prawns. The service is excellent, very attentive and humble waitstaff. I would recommend dining in with 4 or more people as you can try more dishes and usually nothing goes to waste but it's also a wonderful setting for 2 people and we got through most of our 3 dishes. Definitely don't overlook this place, it's a hidden gem!
A hidden gem!. Went here for dinner a few weeks ago, it's only a small place with a few tables. The tables themselves weren't full but what caught my eye was the huge number of take away orders being collected. I just knew the food would be good. I definitely wasn't disaopointed. The red curry duck and thai fried rice were an absolute highlight. Good serving sizes at a very reasonable price. The staff were absolutely wonderful too, very friendly and humbled by our feedback. Thanks for the great food! I can see why this place is so popular! :)
Oh Yeah! Great Red Curry Duck !!!!!!. Been here a few times, food is always good. Red curry Duck is excellent. Pad Thai is very good. Prices are fair, service is very good. Paneng Beef is excellent, this is a great Thai resturant. We drive from Mundaring to eat there as it is the best Thai for miles around.
Awesome!. I was so excited to find their Choo Chee Prawns, and the reality did not disappoint. Great value for money and absolutely delicious. This will become my regular Thai fix.

Always good!. This has become our "local". Small, unknown and limited menu but consistently good food, friendly service and reasonably priced.
Try the choo chee prawns...mmmm!
Delicous! This little place is a hidden gem! Ive lived in Maylands for 4 years & this is the first time Ive been. We went on a Wednesday night & there was only two empty tables - however its a tiny restaurant so best to book. They also do takeaways. We had satay chicken, choochee prawns, massaman curry & rice for $47. We even had leftovers that we could take home! The service was fantastic, the flavour of the food was perfection, you can BYO with no corkage fee. Cant wait to go again!!!
Inexpensive, tasty food. Went with my family for a birthday dinner last Sunday night.
Food was nice and service was friendly. The restaurant is cosy - I think it would seat about 20-25 people. Warm decor.
We had stuffed chicken wings for entree. Chicken pad ka pow, red duck curry, lamb green curry, garlic prawns, tamarind prawns, pad thai and two thai friend rice. Everything was tasty - I liked the pad ka pow best - but the prawn dish servings were a bit small (7 pieces each). However, the number of dishes was enough to fill us (8 adults). They do not serve dessert there but we had brought a birthday cake along.
The bill came to $150.
I would go again to Ploy Thai.
Hidden Gem! Quality, big portions, value price. Wow for this place. Took the family, got the spring rolls, satay chicken for starters. jasmine rice, chicken cashew nut, green curry, sweet sour chicken, and the pad thai. tons left over and rolled out the door. Too full but I'll be back again.
Moorish flavours. Had the massamum beef curry , the mixed veges in thai sauce and the
duck curry. The sauces were delicious. The duck was a bit scarce and fatty but the beef was great. There were heaps of veges too in a lovely sauce.
Never fails to soothe and satisfy :) Recommend the Tom Yum Goong, which goes well with plain jasmine rice. The beef salad and green curry with lamb or chicken would be a great follow on. We've never eaten at the restaurant and are happy that they do home deliveries in the area in good time and always with a smile. Love them!
Worth leaving home for. Had dinner here last night in the tiny (only has about 10 or so tables?), pretty, real cutlery and pretty plated Thai - happy on all counts.
We had red chicken curry (perfect, authentic), Maasamam (extremely good, strip beef though not chunks for some reason), Thai style rice (excellent, generous portion), and stir fried veggies (generous portion, in lovely Thai style sauce).
Now I usually order veggies because I try not to eat fried rice but this was too good looking to not have, and it was worth the calories and carbs - plump, authentic, flavoursome rice. All the mains were spicy & good, with a good meat to sauce ratio.
A telling sign - and compliment to the chef - was that the portions were larger than I remembered, and we got them to package up the remains to take home - even the now meat-free Maasamam which we had plundered of its protein- because the sauce was that good!
It cost $70 (c'mon, it is Thai), and was doing a roaring takeaway trade but it was fun to eat-in.
This is worth a drive - GO.
Excellent. The food is great and the staff are nice. A firm favourite when I can't be bothered cooking.
Pleasantly surprised!! the .... Pleasantly surprised!!
the restaurant was completely empty when we first went in so I was a bit scared that this was a bad sign, but we were pleasantly surprised. the food was beautiful, our starters were the perfect size, I had the red chicken curry for main which had the perfect amount of spice. it was delicious. our 2 starters and 2 mains were only $42, amazingly priced for perth, and best of all byo with no charge. maylands needs an amazing restaurant and we have finally found it :)
Yum!! Had the red duck curry and beef panang curry. Both light, fragrant and delicious! Will be back!
A big favorite for many years. Love it!
Maylands boy. The best value for money Thai restaurant in Perth, B.Y.O and no corkage, unheard of these days, has become our local.
Great food and even better price. Came here with a friend and we got the best pad thai i've ever had. Food was amazing. Definitely the best place to eat Thai food in WA.
Had the chicken satay (entree), spring rolls (entree), red thai curry & pad thai with two cokes - cost $49.
By far the best Thai food in Perth, will travel distances to eat here.
Great Thai food. Had takeaway from here the other night and was very happy. Really good authentic Thai food at a reasonable price.
Much much better than some of the other Thai fodder in other restaurants in the area. Next time, we'll try and get a table - didn't realize it was so small!
We got a take away from here - pad Thai and massaman chicken curry with steamed rice. Not the best pad Thai we've tasted as we tend to compare to pad Thai we ate in Thailand, but not a bad effort. The curry was delicious, but I'd have loved some vegetables in it as the richness of the chicken, peanuts, potatoes and a spicy coconut creamy sauce needs to broken up bit. Overall we were happy and will order again.
A continuous joy. Thank god i live close by..Ploy Thai must be Perth's best home delivered food..tasty, authentic and just perfect. well done
Yummo!. The massaman curry is the best I've found in Perth. My favourite!!
3 Dishes=Great 1 Dish=Fail. Dined in last night with a group of four. Pad Ka Pow Chicken and Seafood were very nice - warning that its quite strong chilli based, Pad Sweet and Sour Chicken was flavoursome too and that would be something I never ever order. I ordered the fail dish though and this is something that has never failed me but the Masaman Curry Beef was terrible. Not only did it take another 15 minutes after everything on the table came out but when it did the potatoes were just cooked and the beef was so chewy and dry - No one wanted to go in for seconds. The other dishes saved this vote. cheaper than most but you can tell with some dishes $15 vs $25 most other thai is a good option from time to time.
Ploy Thai is a great little intimate restaurant for a cheap'n'chic night out with reliably yummy food. The chef's special fried 'money bags' for entree are delicious, as are the garlic prawns. Am a repeat customer.
Had a lovely dinner with the girls. An entree, three mains and fried rice was just enough for the four of us. As others have raved, the duck red curry is yummo, and we tried a chicken curry and the beef in oyster which weren't something you'd write home about (or blog about?) but nice all the same. The restaurant is only small and they do a roaring takeaway trade. Would be cramped with little ones in tow!
Solid Thai. Great Tasting (Red Duck Curry particularly), Cheap, So Friendly. My local Asian favourite....
Great food, nice and fresh. Hard to get a table on weekends as it is small inside. Lovely old building. I only wish the menu was more extensive, as it is quite limited in choice.
Consistently enjoyable Thai. One of the few good take away places in Maylands. Quite reasonably priced, love the chef's special and they do very nice stir fried veges. Pad Thai isn't great, but the prawns, beef and other dishes are quite good. Well worth a look.
I was recently introduced to Ploy Thai in Maylands by my brother, and have since dined there on a number of occasions. The food is incredibly tasty and the staff are very attentive. The meals are also very reasonably priced so I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation. Try the duck red curry!

Good food everytime. I live around the corner so this convenient. Although not just convenient it is really good food. Can highly recommend the masaman beef if you are looking for a dish to try - absolutely delicious! All the food is very reasonably priced too.
Great little place. Went mid week, not too busy. Great service, food was excellent, BYO. Will go there again :)
This is simple yet delicious Thai at a very good price. Nice to visit but if you don't want to leave the couch they home deliver!
Nice Thai food, really good chicken Satay, served quickly and good money.
Ploy Thai. This is a small, uncomplicated and intimate setting, and on this level alone it works well against its competitors. The service has always been congenial.
It has become a Maylands staple with a solid repeat customer base. Of late i'd reccommend reserving as i've seen people turned away all too often.
Fav dishes without a hesitation are the Thai basil chicken and stuffed chicken wings. It is a fairly standard Thai menu i.e. red, massaman and green curries, chicken skewers, etc.
They have built a good consistent reputation for food, service and ambience.

PS: during peak times your order taking and conversation may be punctuated with incoming take-away orders.
Ploy Thai has been part of the Eighth Avenue, Maylands scenery for a while now. It became a favourite of many locals as soon as the owners made the move from their previous home in Subiaco and have been pulling consistent crowds ever since. It’s a fairly inconspicuous restaurant, melding in with the other cafes, picture framing store, fish and chip shop and the rest of the random collection along that strip. It is quite small inside, which means you have to arrive early or plan ahead for any dine in aspirations, but plenty seem content to just call in for take away. I caught up with a friend for dinner there recently. We arrived right on 6 on a Monday evening, with a bottle of wine in tow (free BYO – always a plus!) so we had no issue finding a table. Staff are welcoming and efficient and we were swiftly brought menus and water as soon as we were seated. My dining companion, Miss L, actually lives within a stone’s throw of Ploy Thai so she could recommend a few dishes she’d had recentl
What I love about Ploy Thai is the traditional Thai ambience you experience, the staff are friendly and the décor is beautiful and everytime I go there it takes me back to my holiday to Phuket with Caviar Girl & Mia years ago. Take for example our table settlings… Ploy Thai is a small restaurant and can seat a max of 20 or so people, so it's always best to book as there's been many times where we wing it without a booking to find that it's been fully booked. I always find it hard to find an alternative on the spot when I'm hungry and have my stomach set on a specific restaurant. Anyway, to start we shared the vegetable spring rolls $7 served with sweet chilli sauce and as you can see below Ploy Thai's spring rolls aren't your usual sized spring rolls…I love good portions! For the
As a Maylands local I feel so lucky to have Ploy Thai in my neighbourhood. Such delicious food every time. The Tom Kha curry in particular is just so delectable and unique. We always order heaps so we can enjoy leftovers :)
Super tasty thai food, really good for take out! Dine in can be a bit cramped on busier nights, but the staff are very accommodating and service is quick!
No proof of Vax was asked for . No social distancing. Service was very slow. Patrons coming in after us got served their food before us . Too long to wait if you want to eat and go.
Food was tasty.
Love the feel of a small restaurant. Feels like back 6 Thailand. Tom yum so good . Also had a great curry and there rice.
Don't forget to its BYO 👍👍
Fantastic authentic flavours of Thailand. The dishes were exceptional both quality and portion size great value. The decor from the table cloths to the plates and cutlery right through to the art work on the walls, takes you to a fine dining experience in Thailand. The staff are meticulous and attentive, brilliant service. BYO with free corkage Wow...... this place is a gem, thanks for a great night. I should have taken the photos before we started to consume the dishes..... way to yummmy and aromatic.
Well well well.... I shouldn't really let this secret out because this place will get busier otherwise but they deserve it so much.... So here we go - this little cosy Ploy Thai restaurant is awesome. We ordered four different dishes for mains and each of them were prepared to perfection. Fresh ingredients, delicious authentically flavoured and very well presented.
Good food, good service and a clean, pleasant environment. The price was also good. Everything (a bowl of steamed rice, a bowl of Chicken Tom Yum, a bowl of Thai Green Curry Chicken and a plate of stir fried vegetables) came up to less than 45 dollars
I have been eating at this restaurant since 2014, and the quality has never changed from being excellent. The Fish Cakes entree are highly addictive, all the curries are amazing. The Tom Yum soups are also amazing. The price is good too. Friendly Wait Staff, they have a bathroom and the place feels clean. Book on Weekends cause it gets really really busy.
